    andracass

hi there this is your captain speaking

    i'm tired

there's no fun posts today because remaking the whole field effects system is super hard and i really like giving myself more projects on top of that...

rest assured, there will still be more posts in the future!

in the meantime, we have prepared some refreshments for those of you on board.

the distribution of said refreshments is a little bit less like a typical "drink and cookie (singular)" per person you might get on a normal airtrain...

...and a bit more like firing a t-shirt cannon.

so your concierge staff (the devs) have been reading some of your theories.

    some of them are bonkers.

some of them are mostly correct!

and of course the two groups overlap.

so i've loaded up my t-shirt cannon with a few rounds of theory confirmation.

and i'm going to shoot it at whichever comments i think are the most fun.

    i have five t-shirts.

    i'll shoot them out tomorrow.

God isn't Arceus, there is no ultimate power for Lin, the concept of power is deconstructed to something frail in the face of consistent effort, foresight, will and love for one another.

Arceus' cry is a perfect fart noise.

at some point I thought "what if Lin is Arceus" but I don't really remember why. I had a reason though!

I will take you comment to make it even better: Lin WILL become the champion (replacing Amy) and we will have to fight her at the great end of all events. But there is a plus, a HUGE plus: Her trumph card isnt her Hydreigon; she WILL manage to catch Archeus and PULSE evolve it. THATS RIGHT BOYS: PULSE ARCHEUS IS A FACT!

    - The entire game was a hallucination conjured by the main character as they are trapped in T4RR4's mansion, awaiting the Tournament of B00ty.

    - There is a PULSE we have not seen yet, besides PULSE Mr. Mime, Clawitzer, Arceus, and Pulse-2:  PULSE Budew. And Lin has five of them to go with Hydreigon.

    - Since Anna could see the player glowing through a locked door, the Player is the

    Spoiler

Archetype from Rejuvenation, similar to Melia, Erin, Alice, and Allen.

    - There will be more branching story paths, similar to the Reshiram/Zekrom routes

    - Pokedex quest lady will ask us to round up Ultra Beasts now.

    - There will be a paint can so we can turn our Pokemon Shiny.

    - Shade is Euphie.

    - Meteor Ace is Euphie.

    - Lin is Euphie.

    - The Player is Euphie.

    - The real Euphie was the friends we made along the way.

Lin doesn't share the same objective as the rest of Team Meteor, and Team Meteor's leadership has known this for a while now - but they don't have a way to deal with her, and saying "you're no longer in charge" to her face is... blatantly unwise.

Lin and Terra are linked by the orphanage and Sigmund in some way.

Each of them has shown non-human abilities: Lin and Sigmund's surviving otherwise lethal incidents, and Terra's

bizarre ability to create a data world (world creation? Arceus?)

None of the other characters we've seen have had abilities that I would genuinely call supernatural with the exception of the Shade (might never have even been human) and El with his Arceus-ditto mojo. At least, as far as I can remember, might be missing some.

The torture scene in the opening sequence has been removed.

In the route where Taka dies and appears in the void, there's some way to later get him back.

In the route where Taka hasn't died yet, he'll die at some point in e19.

The Lin fight will include at least one pokemon she stole from Ame, probably the Alolan ninetails she used in Titania's gym.

Eclipse will not get her soul back.

There will be a sidequest related to the guy harassing the woman outside the Lapis ward pokemart.

The battle against Furret+Bibarel in Postgame Perils - Pokemon Punchup, Painfully Powerful will be against the two kids in Peridot ward who want to catch a pokemon strong enough to impress Youngster Joey and his top-tier rattata.

The TM for swords dance will not be available until the postgame; likewise volt switch and u-turn.

Wait! I do have a guess. Is Lin actually Arceus? I think what we saw foreshadowed in Shade's gym was her bursting forth with Arceus's glory.

-Anna and Lin are two halves of one whole body

-Lin and Ame are actually in cahoots; Ame's death was either staged OR her death was planned between them for some sinister purpose

-Bysbyxion Wasteland will turn into a grassland as part of the Shaymin quest

-At some point in Labradorra, we will have all our mons/items taken away, and we must sneak past Meteor Grunts to get them back, a la Chrono Trigger

Lin is somehow connected to Fern and Florinia, judging by Fern's willingness to join Team Meteor (could just be tomfoolery) and the cold calculating personality she shares with Florinia. Could be familial, perhaps.

Lin hasn't dealt with the player character because she recognises them as having the potential to stop her. In her mind, she wants us to be a strong as we can possibly be, so that when she crushes us once and for all, it will be the pinnacle of all she's achieved. Her sadism and lust for utter victory will be both her driving factor and her downfall.

Maybe that's her desire after all... now I propose a new 'train' of thoughts: has anyone here played the PS1 Xenogears?

Well, basically tells the story of this post-apocalyptic future with relics from an ancient civilization (with giant robots and stuff, but it doesn't matter right now) and stuff.

My point is: there is this guy, Krellian, who is actually the mastermind of everything. He manipulated a Senate of AI's and even an immortal emperor to achieve his utmost goal: to reach and tread at God's own dimension.

The thing is: I can see some of it in Reborn and Lin's existence: someone with undeniable power, using everything and everyone to reach God (Arceus). Remember when Anna said she couldn't see anyone on top of Hydreigon? Maybe that's her objective: to find existence with God, or maybe to find someone who could set her free from her prison of soul and flesh.

I'm certain there is something like that.

Everything Lin did was part of her masterplan devised for one and one purpose only - to impress her lord and senpai Sir Suss Sussington,  rumored to be even more powerful and mysterious than our ghost overseer Shade. Little is known about aforementioned individual, the only sign of his existence was found on a certain tombstone at the beryl cementery..

    339804960_Omegasus.png.ef90250bfaeb2a9fe059f2712efbeb24.png

..but even that lead was lost due to a cleft in time.

Some said he transcended this mortal realm never to come back, leaving that one trace of his existence as a warning. Others claimed he'll be back someday, bringing a New Dawn upon this world. Sceptics stated everyone was overreacting. Some people ate waffles. Who is right? No one knows. Most don't care. Me? I prefer pancakes.

We haven't actually met Lin, just her robot body doubles she keeps around to do things like be killed and not die and all her other superhuman stuff.

Terra's the only other person who knows. (And her "narcolepsy" is just her cover for the times when said robot body doubles are temporarily deactivated).

I'm pretty sure that the champion WILL be someone we met already- even briefly, but I'm sure Ame stays dead. (Probs will be Lin as everyone already said)

Shade will definetly get more involved in the story, I'm not sure how. A npc told us that someone got mad trying to beat Shade, they might get involved as well.

Arceus will definetly be a boss or something among those ranks, and El will have something to do with it (ofcourse lol)

Anna (and Noel?) will surely play a major role in EP19 as well. I'm willing to bet that Anna has something to do with Lin 100% anyways.

    Spoiler

Then Lin turns out to be a shiny garbador when we beat her as the champion, like the trash she is. Explains why she doesn't die quite well imo

Back in Shade's gym, we did saw Lin "exploded" right?

I think that vision was somehow "distorted", just like how many of us interpreted Amaria jumping off that waterfall as Titania pushing her.

Perhaps, what actually is gonna happen to Lin is just like what the game title suggests.

    "Reborn"

My guess is that she is somehow going to absorb the power of Arceus, got ascended to something beyond human, and her mortal coil simply gets left behind and shatters...

I was too late for my crackpot theories but Cass, while you have already used the 5 T-shirts I want to offer my dumbass ideas for your T-shirt Cannon!

It all revolves around the Jasper Prophecy.

The prophesy talks about an alternative timeline where you don't exist. Fern fights Meteor with Arc, Cal, Lin (not Anna, this is the crackpot part,), and Shade (!?)

Fern ultimately fails and Arceus comes to destroy and recreate the world, but Lin wishes for the world to be remade but with someone strong enough to stop Arceus after they're released. Lin could stop Meteor now, but she can't beat Arceus itself, so she needs to become a villain to create enough of a challenge for you to become strong enough to beat Arceus. Shade was in the original party but died or something before the timeline reset so she's spooky now (ok that one's a stretch but we don't have much to go on for Shade)

C'mon, a theory this nutty deserves to either get a cannon or to be canon, your call :)

Not sure about the whole Victini thing.

If we're doing literal Pokedex entries, then we can go ahead with Pulse-Apocalypse: Magcargo

18,000 degrees is twice as hot as the Earth's core. Team Meteor could just drop one on Reborn city, and that'd be it for everyone.

Oh, I came too late to get Maude Flanders'd- I'd go on and make more of a joke along those lines, but I get the feeling a water type might get ideas and I don't wanna be called Lord Explosion Murder cause of it. Super nerdy references and my blatant lateness aside, Fern was the first protagonist of world 1, before it became reborn because Fern and Co sucked too much to save it, making a wish on the power to bring somebody who could in fact save the world. That somebody is the current player character, who was meant to die on the very start inside that train as he/she/they did back in THE WORLD R1 - ahem, back in the first timeline. It might also be that the world isn't being reset, but re-written, by some higher power that Lin is capable of interacting with, allowing her the ability to just place in objects that weren't there before.

Oh, I'm writing all this based on my faulty memory from the last time I played, so I can't quite go into detail as I like.

the other theory on Lin's power is meta, or as I like to call it, super corny af idea from Ame playing Undertale that is kinda cringe lmfao, and is it just me or is the title approaching japanese light novel in length - That is to say, Terra and Lin are aware they're inside of a game, and Lin can do a cool Monica impression..

There is no Champion any longer, you become champion by default by saving Reborn, because I get the feeling that you big brains realized that if your flavour text includes champion of Reborn land is protector of Reborn Land, then thwarting Lin or whatever Last Boss behind the scenes there is makes one the Champion.... after also beating the Elite 4 or whatevs.

    That was my Ted Talk.

If you feel inclined to answer, confirm or deny any of these ideas, theories, I'd think that'd be neat, and my ego will make me think I'm special, yey.

Seriously, though. This is a good game regardless of the story, I especially loved the lv 1 Aaron trainer. It shows how well you people developed the terrain effect, the core mechanics of the game, and while I do love games primarily for the story, I also love a well made one, so whatever the ending is, as we expect it or not, I'm stoked to play and view it.

    Alright here's my hallucinating mumbling

The worlds from Reborn and Rejuvenation are in fact 2 alternate realities or parallel universes. Everything that happened in Reborn thus far have their ''copy'' that happened or will happen in Rejuvenation. Whats more,

every character in Reborn have their counterpart in Rejuvenation. They mostly share nature and role in story with each other.

Ok so a bit late to the party but the general idea is that Lin's objective is to free Arceus and remake the world, hence the world would be "Reborn".
As for Lin's death itself, we see Lin die in Never After without actually dying.
The main theory of this is that the Lin we see isn't actually a person, it's a sort of puppet. The child we hear in the Citae'd'astrae, Glitch World and Black Hole is actual child Lin (that Laura and Sigmund hint at) who, through whatever magic exists within the Citadel, hasn't aged since she went down there, similarly to Adrienn, and is using the adult Lin to pull strings to get the 4 keys and release Arceus.
This would explain why adult Lin is so much older than the child from the orphanage, and why adult Lin doesn't quite seem "human". She falls asleep and wakes up at seemingly random intervals like some wierd narcolepsy, she doesn't die from being stabbed, and she seemingly doesn't have a soul, implied by the fact that Anna couldn't see anyone riding the Hydreigon above Tanzan Mountain. In the WTC, Shade tells us something along the lines of "Four screens foretold four souls' fortune forsaken. For, forsooth, from foreshadowed, only two will be taken".
So pretty much, the screens predicted four deaths, but out of these only 2 die. Since Kiki and Corey already died, this feels like a fake out to tell us that Lin doesn't actually die as the screen forshadows. But, if Lin doesn't actually have a soul, then she might still die, and only two souls would be taken.

    I didn't get your statement.

Rejuvenation is already confirmed to take place "many" years after Reborn and "in the same universe".

    Rejuv spoiler alert!

    Spoiler

Now i will list all the references to Reborn in Rejuv(or atleast the ones i remember). I will mark in bold all the plot/lore related parts.

    1. An NPC in Chrisola Hotel game corner say to play against a guy in Reborn
    2. An NPC in the past say that he is from Reborn City, and that the city looks like Hyoshi.
    3. In Nymiera house you can see Reborn's emblem. Also, if you talk to Ren, he will tell you that Nastasia told him of the four keys.
    4. Nymiera in the story say that the original Deity was hit by a meteorite, that split it in three parts. One of them was carried away by the meteor, ending in a far away region. The region in question is most likely Reborn. It's true that she say that the meteor was dead, but probably it's just end up like Adrest.
    5. We see another Reborn emblem behind a Xerneas sculpture in the Nymiera's hidden room(the one with a time crystal)
    6. When we visit the Neo Gearen City, we meet Adrienn, who says that xe helps with restoration, and that was way easier than the Reborn City one. After the tour of the city we meet Aya, and both make reference to the Devon incident and also speak of Hardy . In the pokeball factory sidequest Aya tells you of that time she was held as hostage by Team Meteor.
    7. If you get the Electric Terrain in the tournament Amber will reference Julia.
    8. In chapter 15 Alexandra say that Celine, after the battle with Madame X, she go in a region with a strong league that already deafeted a threat comparable to Team Xen for take inspiration for the new Aevium league. During this explanation, will be shown nothing less that the Reborn's Grand Hall.

Also i put same universe in quotes because in chapter 15 they confirm that the universe been resetted atleast once, probably in the same universe Reborn's events takes place, and not the previous one, considering that you can't reset the world if someone does it befor you (look at you Anna and/or previous timeline Lin(or also the same one we see).

There was this one theory on YouTube a while back basically saying that several characters are "agents" for legendary Pokemon to exert their influence on the world.  I remember something like this being the case in Insurgence, but as I'm told we don't mention that here.  I do believe it hold some water, even though the ship is the Pirates of the Carribean's Flying Dutchman: it's perpetually sinking.

Looking at Lin's backstory, feats during the game, and impressions left by other characters, I think we can establish that she has some form of Arceus' power, and if we're going by this "agent" theory, she's not really an agent of Arceus. I think that role might actually be the player.   Lin might have has some mix up with either some other, more darker legendaries, or is influenced by or is influencing a twisted, evil amalgamation of arceus' power brought on from her state of mind/sadistic nature.

I forget who said it, one of the kids through, maybe Charlotte or Noel (Painter), but during their stay at the orphanage, Lin really wasn't well in the head. I think Lin's mental state, when eclipsed with Arceus' power during their meeting from Dr. Connal dumping her off the side of the Grand Gate, brought rise to the Lin we interact with in the story. That mental state could have either corrupted the blessing, "stolen" a part of Arceus, or Arceus messed up by giving life to the wrong person.

Throughout the story, she make no open or suggested hostilities towards us, only towards those we either associate with, or those who act as obstacles to furthering her agenda, even though we haven't a clue what that involves yet. This is evident in both the Devon building raid and the interactions of Solaris, Sirius, and ZEL regarding the topic of Lin.

During the Devon raid, Team Meteor turns the tables and captures everyone. You are the only one who walks away without injury. Victoria got electrocuted, Adrian was thrown into a toaster, Arclight got his eye yanked out, and Ame got straight up murdered right in front of you. Furthermore, she tells you where to go after the gym battle with Titania, to the point where Titania calls into question if you are on their side, and proceeds to talk philosophy while displaying her blessing powers by popping a relic the size of a building out of nowhere in the battle for Agate City. Her sadistic orphanage behavior took a turn for the worse because the 3 Meteors mentioned practically beg for you to play along acting like you're one of them just so they walk out of the Tanzan mountain base with their lives.

Regarding the relation between us and Arceus, several characters hint at it, but it isn't explicitly stated. Anna makes several comments on your "glowiness" and Bennett (could be the wrong person, idk) said you are the golden child, never seeing a loss and being respected/admired by the main cast of characters. Not to mention the way you are "guided" by Lin for a good chunk of the story either directly or very indirectly.

What I think will happen in the story is that Lin will use you as a lure to capture Arceus.  Hell, maybe she's even subdued another legendary or mythical. She has a 100% winrate in the AI tournament held about a month ago. Maybe this could be the story reason for it.  In the other fangame I shall not name again, lest Amethyst spite me and I piss off the Reborn Gods, their champion you face at the end of the story has 2 bullshit pokemon, 1 bullshit mega, and 2 legendaries while having only 1 regular pokemon.  He isn't nearly as tough as he could be, but over half the team belongs in Ubers while the best you've got access to is OU.
