Around 1024? 1024 is already a very accurate number. It is also 2^10 basically, maybe that means switches are coded on 9 bits or something?

There are 1043 labeled switches in the game as of Episode 18 (with an additional 57 left blank), but some of them have been rendered obsolete, such as an early one labeled 'REMOVED Drifloon'.

And as someone who does save file fixing and sometimes has to mess around in the Switches my response is...oh dear. :p

Do we have some evidence of that? I don’t think it’s consistent for Lin to let herself be “officially” subordinate when she’s the one actually calling the shots. Moreover, Team Meteor is a decade old at least and engineered the meltdown of its economy (with the earthquakes, Yureyu, etc). These weren’t peaceful methods and I doubt that Lin was in charge then.

Yes, you have Sirus' dialogue,  Taka's dialogue, and El's diary from the top of my head.

As far as I remember, El’s diary makes no mention of Lin at all, neither is El specific about Solaris’s methods.
I don’t recall Taka or Sirius giving any sort of time frame for Lin’s arrival, nor that they say that Solaris was some sort of softie that wouldn’t go for ruthless action against the city before they showed him it worked.

On the other hand, I think Cal’s dialogue when he mentions Terra suggests that Lin is a relatively new addition to the team.

Terra probably has some connection to Lin since a journal in her gym references a baby Arceus. I'm interested to see how it will tie into the overall plot

Woah! What if Terra and Lin are the same person? Very unlikely, but you never know.

Of course. Didn't Solaris want to kill everyone at Apophyll by making Pyrous Mountain erupt, without Lin asking him to? (and since this is the only purpose of the existence of PULSE Camerupt, it probably can't even be retconned)

El's diary is the evidence for Solaris' parents dieing and him not wanting the job originally.

We should totally compile a timeline of Reborn.
That would make things soooo much easier.
(No, really. That may be a fun wiki project.)

EDIT: Aw hell.

https://pokemon-reborn.fandom.com/wiki/Timeline_of_Events

Spoiler

An uncertain amount of years ago:
* Reborn was once a village around a meteor crater. The meteor is Arceus' birthplace and how it entered this world. It is enshrined by Solaris' and Taka's family/ancestors of their family, who dedicate themselves and their culture to protect the meteor from outside "impurity". They build a citadel and lock up Arceus with four crystal keys. (Source: El's diary)

* This civilisation blossoms until one day, Giratina comes to Reborn. This marks the day this civilisation "ends". In a frenzy, Giratina wreaks havoc around the region and drastically changes the landscape (freezing the Ametrine volcano, thawing Pyrous mountain, teleporting cities and landmarks, and so on). It finally settles in the south-east of the region (implied to be Byxbysion Wasteland), but its chaos has already "sealed the fate of Reborn". Pyrous mountain thaws the snow and creates Azurine lake, which flooded the ruins of the old Reborn. Artifacts from that time period can still be found through diving.

* A person called "the slayer" drives Giratina from Reborn, according to Taka's family's legends. The slayer is implied to have used an Aegislash for this. (Source: see above)

* Solaris' and Taka's family are large and influential. (Source: Taka's Mirage Tower dialogue) They are close to another family that is less ancient and the members of which are meant to serve them. This is Elias' family. Elias' family serves Solaris' family for generations. (Source: El's diary).

* Over the years, the family fell into decline (Source: Taka's dialogue in Sugiline temple ruins)

At least 20 years before the story (judging that Solaris is probably between 40-50 years old):

* Solaris grows up in a small, religious and somehow idyllic community. He is provided a servant, Elias, who is ten years older than him and considered "defective" by his family because of his blindness. Because of that, Elias is prohibited from interacting with Solaris in his youth. But Solaris is unsatisfied with his family's tradition and wants nothing to do with it. He resents this religious tradition for "most of his life".

* An adult Elias meets Solaris for the first time. They become quick friends and spend time as "lordless, lawless men". Solaris questions "for many years" why the meteor needs to be locked up.

* At some point in his early adulthood, Solaris' parents are killed by an unknown assailant seeking the crystal keys. Solaris beats the assailant to death. Wishing he had believed his parents, he becomes a believer in Arceus and becomes paranoid of losing things from the past.

* Elias isn't a believer yet but still follows Solaris on his new, religious path. After a few years, Solaris confronts Elias about his lack of faith and gifts him the Emerald key, which cures his blindness.

* Solaris hires a woman to have a child with him - Taka. She then leaves.

After Solaris' parents' death:

* The old Reborn City is in bad shape. Ame decides to build a new city on top of the old one's ruins. Solaris claims this happened specifically to hide the Citae Astrae citadel. This is considered "the ultimate insult" by Solaris' family. Solaris therefore founds Team Meteor to "cleanse" Reborn of its profanity and restore the citadel shrine. Team Meteor is ruthless in doing so. (Source: Corey's diary)

* The rebuilt Reborn City is a quiet, lush city with lots of trees and a clear blue lake. (source: Adrienn's dialogue at the Grand Stairway)

* Radomus is tipped off by a mystery person that Team Meteor should not have the crystal keys - they are simply too dangerous for them. So, he steals the crystal keys and asked a friend to fashion them into jewellery. (This friend may be Sirius, who laments that he held "them" all in his hand at one point, knows Radomus, and has a house in Agate full of colourful crystal shards). This friend is overwhelmed by the mighty keys. Radomus gifts him with the Emerald broach and seeks out particularly strong trainers for the other three so they would be protected. The Belrose family gets the Sapphire bracelets, Corey Molinar gets the Ruby ring to propose to his wife Elena, and Radomus' wife Zina gets the Amethyst pendant. Now a wealthy man, Radomus reinvents his name, personality, and history as a chess player, builds Vanhanen castle and lives happily with Zina for many years.

* Sirius is a hopeless romantic and loves to study history. However, something tragic changes his views completely and he becomes a cruel man with a 100% commitment, "win by any chance" mentality. He implies that stealing back the crystal keys will repair scars he carved (Source: Void). He becomes part of Team Meteor and tells Solaris that the crystal keys have been carved into jewellery. (Source: Sirius' Agate City dialogue)

* At some point, Ame founds the Reborn League.

* One day about a decade before the Peridot Trainstation bombing, Adrienn inspects a mysterious light shining through the floor behind the Grand Gates. They dismantle the floor but fall down into the caves. Because they do not wear one of the four key talismans, they are frozen in time for the next ten years+. Radomus speculates that their presence is what stopped the Grand Gates to stop working all of a sudden. Also, he speculates that during this moment, the citadel and the Grand Gates became connected (source: Radomus' Coral Ward dialogue).

* Almost immediately after falling down, Adrienn notices a girl climbing out of the cave.

12 years ago:

* Sirius hunts down the Ruby Ring Corey gifted his wife and poisons Elena Molinar in the hospital, where she just gave birth to Heather. Corey stabs Sirius' left eye and swears revenge.

12-10 years ago:

* Sirius tracks down the Sapphire bracelets and burns down Belrose manse, killing the Belrose sisters' parents. Laura loses the Sapphire bracelets in the fire. They are later picked up by Titania, who gifts them to Amaria. (That would make Charlotte between 2 and 4 years old at this incident.)

* Zina Vanhanen has Guardevoir promise her that she would protect Radomus in her absence. Zina then vanishes/dies. Radomus fears that without Zina's presence, he wouldn't be able to protect his kids. He gives up his children and hides them under a different name. He bequeathes Anna the Amethyst pendant.

About ten years ago (judging that Taka is in his early 20's, Luna is 18, and Terra is in her mid-20's):

* Lin, a girl that regularly tormented Laura in the orphanage, plays a trick on Doctor Connal. He takes her upstairs and she is never seen again. (This happened "a couple years ago". At the time, Lin is "very young" and "a little younger than Anna".) (Adult Lin later references how she stole Laura's pencils underneath Agate City.)

* Terra's parents adopt a girl named Lin. Terra and Lin become friends and Lin is said to have changed Terra: though she used to be a lonely child stuck in her room and playing video games, she is now determined to become a lion tamer at the circus. (It is unclear when this takes place, but since Terra is about 25 during the events of Pokemon Reborn, this happened about ten years ago).

* Elias and Solaris are still pals and Elias is very loyal to Solaris. Their kids, Taka and Luna, form a friendship. Somehow, Taka's existence as Solaris' son put Luna in a bad position so that she may have wanted to escape that reality.

Less than 10 years before the story:

* Team Meteor facilitates earthquakes and destroys parts of Reborn City. Among them is the mega-company Yureyu, which owned an important power plant. This leads to blackouts and a crippled economy. Many inhabitants leave.

* Ame seeks to repopulate the city. She deems that specific buildings and sites remain untouched because of historical value. Adrienn's Coral Ward gym, which has fallen into disrepair, is one of these places.

* Eve engineers a way to harness Pokemon power to help her sick sister Lumi. Zero from Team Meteor becomes aware of this and threatens her to give Team Meteor all information on this project. During the Magnezone accident, they fuse and become one person, ZEL. (Source: Ametrine diary)

* Solaris orders ZEL to keep tabs on Taka during his childhood. Blake sometimes does as well. (Source: Taka's Tourmaline dialogue)

Some time before the story:

* Lin joins Team Meteor and rises through the ranks. Her presence is said to have changed Sirius' attitude/behaviour for the worse, even though he has always had a "history is written by the winners" mindset. (Source: Taka's Tourmaline dialogue, Eclipse's dialogue)

* Corey joins Team Meteor to track down Sirius.

* Luna, advised by Shade, runs away from home and lives with Serra, Guardevoir and Bennett.

* Team Meteor poisons the Azurine lake and is responsible for Earthquakes and other environmental desasters. Their PULSE-Garbodor likely created or at least increased the Byxbision Wasteland.

When it comes to Solaris being less ruthless than Sirius or Lin, I think the dialogue covers that rather well. Nonetheless, the game isn't specific as to what exactly Solaris did to drive people away. We only have other characters' words for it, and all of these are, well, Meteor Members (Eclipse, Taka, uhm... that's it, I think).

This seems pretty accurate and as for anecdotal accounts from npcs, I don't think most of the characters have much of a reason to lie

I believe that the "friend" is Sirius. During the Sarena quest in Agate city, she reads a diary in the back room of the house that mentions "I didn't know, He tricked me", "I have to fix it. I'll get them all back. History was in my hands, and then my skull. It is written by the winner, so I must take up the pen. Nose to the grindstone, eye to the needle. The sword follows only after". The ground is covered in crystal remnants, and has a Manectite (I believe Sirius used to have a Manectric in older versions?). It makes a lot of sense in regards to Radomus' dialogue in the Glass Workstation with the Jeweler friend whom they now have bad blood, and Sirius knowing about Anna's father in the Yureyu building. The one bit I don't understand though is how the emerald key ended up in El's possession, as he also has history with Radomus.

In the dialogue "Nose to the grindstone, eye to the needle. The sword follows only after" it unintentionally predicts Corey stabbing him in the eye with the needle, so could Sirius die in Ep 19 to a sword? Gotta wait and find out!

Also, does it mention ingame about Sirius having a nose injury?(I know it is an idiom for hardwork, but I believe eye to the needle is an idiom as well.) His VS sprite however seems to have a smaller nose compared to other characters, so could it have been an injury making the jewelry, or something else entirely (I promise I'm not body-shaming).

Could Sirius die to a sword? Absolutely. After all, Titania does have a habit of stabbing people with Aegislash. She should probably see a therapist for that...
