  • Did someone say... Caves?

    As I've shown before, some of the backgrounds in the game are being updated! Last time we showed a bit of forest areas. Today, I would like to present changes to caves!

     

    I've put them in a spoiler tag in case some of you want to stay blind, but @Zumi's done such an amazing job with this! 

    Dunno how many more we'll do for V13 because, as you can imagine-- These take a lot of time to create. Here are just a few of the unique backgrounds we'll have! (Please note that the bases have not been updated yet! So they may clash with the background for now.)

    As for V13 progress in general... Still working on the final segments for the story. But it's a lot of work and I don't want to rush! So, thank you guys for being patient with me <3.

    Amazing work on the cave backgrounds. Really gives the whole field a real atmosphere to work with, and I love it. ❤️

    Amazing work on all of these! I'm actually looking forwards to the parts of the game in caves in my replay now.

    These are quite amazing. The texture on the walls is very well done imo.

     

    Also I like how Sizzlipede looks like he's angrily pointing a finger at the player.

    Those battlebacks are beautiful! I don’t think I can come close to that utilizing Paint software.

    It looks like a 3D themed cave, now. It can be called Elementary Cave Field for me.

    Sincerely appreciate all the kind comments!! I tried out a couple of new things while working on the backgrounds and I personally am pretty proud of the result, so I'm glad that people like them! 👈😎👈

     

    Like Jan said, I don't know how many more custom bgs will be introduced for V13, but if I have spare time, I'll probably tackle another background that can be recolored for multiple purposes (even though with caves and forests out of the way i'm starting to run out of things dhjfdkd). Otherwise it's gonna be field effects or custom bgs for important fights!

     

    Who knows!!!

    Goodness, these are utterly fantastic! The bases are already pretty sweet on their own, but the extra mile on the details definitely helps out quite a bit.

     

    As for easily replicable backgrounds you could do if given the chance, might I suggest the city streets? There aren't a whole lot in the way of places that use them, after all.

    ...Assuming I am not underestimating the variety in GDC, anyway. That'd always a possibility... 😓

    no stop, why do I love this so much? plz Jan I'm gonna cry, I've put so much time into rejuvenation that if you make me like the game more I don't think I can mantain a stable lifestyle

    To be honest, i don't think that the bases are clashing too much with the backgrounds at all. Compared to the old cave backgrounds they fit even better with the new ones.

     

    That, of course, is my personal opinion. But once the new bases are done, they might fit even better. Can't tell as of now XD
