  1. I'll admit that I haven't been paying attention but the whole ZEL and Magnezone thing felt super weird and I had no idea that the older themes changed. I was okay with it if this was the only change for this episode. Here's what I feel about the battle themes: New Meteor Theme: It's too slow and I actually used that song for the cult guys (aka Helix room) as it felt very mythical as it worked well for fighting on holy/sacred ground. Doesn't sound right when facing guys who kill and murder people to get what they want. Something fast paced, harsh, gritty, and rogue like would best fit this theme. That's why I say the old theme suits this better. Seriously just revive the old one as I can't think of a better one that suits them. Gym Leader theme: NGL, I think both are on equal footing in terms of how good they are. IMO though, the old theme should be used for all leader up until Ciel/Adrienn aka the top of the pack leaders. That's just me as I feel that the top leaders should get their own shared theme to make them a bit more special in that regard (and give you the impression that the game has been holding back until now). The only reason I loved the old leader theme more is just due to that sound of the intro going into the battle. I'll never get tired of hearing that. Rival Theme: I've never actually minded this one tbh. Only theme I could think of replacing it with is the super training one. Never understand the one where super training is used in the wild as it felt more like a battle theme tbh, but that one doesn't bother me so much as others. New Meteor Admin Theme: N's theme did it's job here, but I get that it's broken. What I don't get is why a champion theme would replace it. What I liked about the old theme was that it sounded a bit ominous. The old gym leader theme does not suit it at all. The gym theme is made for suspense and gives you the feeling that what your facing will be difficult and may take many times to overcome. Never does it sound like your in actual danger, but you aren't in for a good time. I suppose for a substitute this theme would work better for the Meteor Admin theme:
  2. Haven't had time to say this yesterday (well more like in the morning), but Hardcore E16 is up and ready to download. Anyways it's back to working on schooling for me.

Schooling? What are you taking in college/university?

Anyways, good luck with your schooling and hope it goes well.

  3. (What if I told you all the maps for CoM are a scrambled mess right now trying to transfer them around. Still there but not in a nice order). The bulk of the content is going to be spread across the game this time, but I got past some of the really, really big hurdles such as one single scene that took 7 hours to make. You will know what scene that is when you see it and I still need to edit the text. ------------------------------------------- Before I get to bed I'm gonna post this here (and eventually include the stuff in the spoiler in the OP but sleep first). Here's kind of everything you want to know about Hardcore E16 version: Another note I want to make is that this hasn't really been thoroughly tested other than the E16 fights. Consider this to be an initial release so if there are any issues, feel free to report them and I'll reupload this version if there are any critical errors (which would really surprise me). Oh! I just want to reconfirm this. If you use an old CoM file, do not worry as E16 pretty much overrides any errors that would've occurred once you leave Big Top. So while I will be removing the Hardcore E15 version, the CoM version will stay up and you can enjoy all of that content before switching over. I'll include a little NPC in HQ to toggle features on or off for pre E16 files for the CoM version so don't worry too much. The only error that will occur is Relationship points being a little off (which is going to be that way regardless). And now for the links: Links Mega Mediafire
  4. Well while I'm still waiting -Well since I really do like living, probably. If I were the one to kill them, that might be a different story. -I'm going to have to go with a planet eater such as Lavos for scariest. Just imagine a giant thing sucking the life out of a planet, leading to your own death with nothing you can do about it. The strongest I can't really say. I'll have to go with Dragons. In pure strength, Dragons certainly can be outclassed by other mythical creatures at the time even but Dragons can be depicted as being quite intelligent and knowledgeable. The ability to think and act on it is one of the most dangerous tools one can have. -Why blindly follow someone for something I don't believe in when I could lead my own path so that others may follow? -Frustrated, Confused, and slightly turned on for some very odd reason
  5. -Ah yes why I picked this nickname. It's actually a name of a character I created when I was 8. I had a hard time remembering character names and especially naming characters. I asked myself "What's so special about a name like Chris?" So I named characters the first thing that came to my head and based them around that. My creativity was only blossoming so the names were rather silly excluding a few though I kept a few (Such as Oblivion since the character pretty much wears his sins on his sleeve). Commander was a strange one as it was a character who grew into being a leader. Definitely one thing I always thought was that of all names Commander was the strangest one I thought of and poked fun of even. When it was time to decide my internet persona name, I ended up picking his name to represent me since well I really liked the character. So yeah, my name is quite literally Commander, not the Commander or a Commander. Setzer Gabbiani from FFVI. I generally tried to find pics depicting him as less scarred than what official art depicts of him. -I'd say fantasy with a little mix of Sci-fi. I like fantasy, but tend to like some logic being applied and not just only nonsense that is there merely because it can be. I skew more towards fantasy though as I generally dislike the general format of Sci-fi. -What inspired me to write. I'll start off when I first was exposed to writing. I hated it. I hated every little bit of having to write something simply because someone told me I had to do it. I had to think of what they wanted me to say and be graded on that. English writing standards are still far, far from my forte and I rarely ever get an A on anything I write except for one category. Sometimes teachers ask for you to create your own story on some short criteria. I generally ended up getting As on those or even perfects. I had been generating ideas up for a world for 6 years now and finally decided maybe I should write them down and managed to create a very short novel. I really enjoyed that so much I ended up taking writing as a hobby. Shame I don't have the time like I used to with all the stuff I do. I do write some stuff from time to time (I will get that one idea down on paper before I die is a life goal of mine). -Rusty as hell My strongsuit would definitely be characters, first person, and dialogue, while my biggest fault is my lack for details to flesh the world I've created. I definitely feel like I'm a more straightforward writer as I don't like to prose too often letting readers fill in the canvas with anything I leave out. I suppose that's better than saying I'm a fantasy writer. For what styles I like, it's hard to say as I tend to read anything that is not horror. I don't care for horror and especially gorey images (*shudders*). I used to really dislike Romance, but I think it's merely okay now and look at it for ideas to improve my own style of writing. Then there's the R rated stuff, but we do not talk about that. And believe me if you feel like you're a terrible writer, I probably could link a story or two to make you feel better about yourself (and also the complete opposite with amazing ones). Gambler is based on my playstyle as often I tend to try and predict people's movesets and often run risky strategies with moves that don't have 100% accuracy. As for the rambling, it's kind of a joke on how my posts are often twice as long as the average user. I'm also a master of the art of off-top. Since I disabled signature, I totally don't keep forgetting about that I'm currently in the acceptance phase right now. Make of that what you will. -I was honestly curious to see if anyone would even ask me questions and to see how many silly questions I'd get -Oh Hardcore is hard to answer. Something that always stuck with me was something Ame said in an interview (I believe the Gamerstree one or around that time. Been a few years since I saw it). This is just a paraphrase but she said, "In the league, challengers would often run odd or unusual movesets and mons so she wanted to create a game that encouraged this kind of playstyle." The league leaders were also real people who used real strategies so it's not like you could just make something up. That's something I really, really liked about the Reborn game. Fast forward a year or so and cue field effects and the dreaded leader nerfs. How many of you remember the number of times someone got upset Aya, Noel, Serra, and even Charlotte got nerfed. There was a lot of talk about wanting the old leader difficulty back but all everyone did was complain, including me. It wasn't in my right to tamper with Ame's game. It wasn't even my own. Then came this random user called Solarence (Jamaka at the time) talking about how to make the leaders difficulty. I was skeptical at the time and even thought giving ZEL 4 Pokemon would be insane and way too difficult. Then came the thread with the title Reborn Hardcore as the name of the mod. Solarence said he was going to make a harder version of Reborn making it more like Rejuvenation Intense Mode. I'll admit this was probably in an act of arrogance but after helping Solarence quite a bit with the difficulty, I ended up joining the team making all of the bosses. Here's one thing you are mistaken on: I did not want to make Reborn Hardcore and in fact there would be no Reborn Hardcore if not for Solarence. I'd consider the original Reborn Hardcore more of a social experiment. There are three things I wanted to make sure this mod did: Stay true to the original Reborn (I still wanted this mod to feel like Reborn at the core ie Leaders using their strategies and every Pokemon was still usable and pushed for creativity and skill), a difficulty centered around Pre-nerf Aya in strength, and most importantly: shut the Reborn elitists mouths about how old Reborn is better than this new, easier, and more gimmicky version of Reborn. We all know I ended up taking over the project sooner or later as I learned how to do more stuff, but what kind of surprised me is that the playerbase for Hardcore was not veterans like it was intended for (I do bring back quite a number of old mons as references), but newer users who some haven't even played this "old" reborn people spoke of. This is where I took Hardcore a lot more seriously and ended up turning the game from a social experiment into a mod after a complete revamp. I often listen to what users are saying and try to do something to address it or add it to Hardcore. -It happened when I was a senior in high school. I actually overheard a conversation about someone getting very upset the Pokemon Reborn had been blocked on our school computers. He said that it's the only Pokemon game he'd ever play. Admittedly after a long while of ignoring it (I can't remember if B/W came out or not but I know I really stopped playing after that game), I just got back into it with nuzlockes though I was pretty terrible at the game in reality. I decided to pick up Pokemon Reborn and I ended up being frustrated by the number of times it whooped my ass with every leader (I really didn't have that good of a team btw). The moment that hooked me in was the Corey suicide as it made me say that this isn't like the other Pokemon games. -Eh, my free time is a mix of video games, modding game now, and writing. With that and school, it's not surprising that most of my free time gets sucked up by so few things as one requires a few hours to work on almost every day. -Favorite food is goulash -Pretty close to where I am now. I enjoy this comfy little city so I wouldn't mind living here for the rest of my life honestly. -The world I built inside my head. Even though I hate flying, I would want to somewhere across the seas at some point. As cliche as it is, Japan would be high up there as I'd like to see it once. (Whew that was a lot of questions to answer)
  6. I was going to call it CAMAnder, but that looked too weird. And I also immediately regret making this threads. I planned on making one of these a long time ago since I never felt like making an About me page. So ask away if you want.
  7. ..................................................................................................................................................................................................... ................................................................................................................................................................................................... .................................................................................................................................................................................................... ................................................................................................................................................................................................... ................................................................................................................................................................................................... Ame............................................................................................................................................................................................ you really need to think these things through sometimes Personally, I always felt levels were on the short side of the cap so this would be a good thing, not a bad one since well you could spend more time raising all the other mons to the cap. For Episode 16, I barely gained any levels so my mons were in the mid 70s other than some mons I raised prior to help with Pokedex filling (aka they were at 80 already). I'm not gonna complain about easier grinding.
  8. I wish I could gain a dollar for every time I've said Hardcore.

  9. Making a note to self here to download that link up there for modding use. Crossimpact thank you for saving time for us all.
  10. I'll keep this short and blunt due to the threads rules: unless either of us look at the other's coding/game files, I can't exactly say for sure as a variable and/or switch may be used causing interference making either unplayable (though non-CoM Hardcore will work fine with it). If they did not, then it would be plausible to use some features from this mod before swapping over to Hardcore, but it's not recommended. This is a little bit of manipulation stuff as this mod was not designed or intended to be used with Hardcore. I probably could answer or better answer your question (and others you may have) better in a non-public place (cough PMs cough). I have a pretty good idea how to answer.
  11. Eh, that's enough baggage for one day
  12. Okay so I may add a post in sometime later today with the link but it's really going to grind down to how long I can keep myself from crashing. I was going to put a poll up but uhh...I can't figure out what's going on there so we're just going to make this a questionnaire...unfortunately until I can get that all sorted out. I'll make it brief: Even though it's partially broken, would you like me to keep the Randomizer in the E16 version of Hardcore (gift Pokemon aren't randomized)? In order to keep the game progressively getting difficult, how much do you think I should be allowed to bend the rules (ie item ban, set mode, modify leader mons stats a little bit)? Should non PC party members (ie Fern) for the party system be given boosted experience to make them easier to train?
  13. Gift Pokemon from trainers along with a few other special ones such as Corey's mons now have Trainer IDs as well as the proper trainer name giving them that whole exp thing you see.
  14. The short answer is yes, but the long answer will take me a while to answer as it depends. The basic nutshell is that so long as everything that goes into a battle (moreso mon stats and move strength), then it is compatible. Hardcore "should" be compatible right now when I release it, but might temporarily not be in future episodes.

  18. (Takes a deep breath) Okay so here's what's going on, Hardcore E16 for basic content wise is basically done. All I need to do is download the community release, spend about 30 minutes making a few changes to fix the whole save file problem, then uploading the game to play. That's literally it. That's probably going to happen on Wednesday though because my semester ends this weeks plus final exams the following week. That's basically when I'm going to be reviewing not critical stuff so it won't be a biggie. Now for the trading question as I know like all of you are wondering how that's going to work. Hardcore and the CoM version work perfectly fine. So pretty much anything that doesn't have Shadow Ball from the TM will be tradeable. As for the Party System, you can battle with them, but you won't be able to trade. Just remember that the same restrictions for Random battles applies to other party members so something like Fern's Scizor would cause a flag. Now for the CoM version, I have no idea when it will release. Probably sometime in late January or February when I have more time. Anyways, I'm off now, but I'll hopefully have more free time over winter break.
  19. As for the release date I will give you the exact timeframe when it will be released: 1 week before Hardcore (the non CoM version) is released and after the site is updated during the period in which you cannot ask said question on this site nor any questions to be exact.
  20. Instead of saying it's delayed a month, we should just post cat pics when someone asks when the next episode is out.

or we could plan out a very long and elaborate forum quest that will lead them to the E16 download, only for it to be 5 GB worth of cat pictures.

  21. Infringement is more or less using someone else's property as your own. I suppose the best way to understand it is to use an example this time about my Grandpa's backyard. When he was a lot younger than he is now, there was a boy who lived next door who kept crossing through his hard to see his girlfriend which he constantly asked to stop. Eventually he got sick of it and built a fence to keep people from crossing his yard (which a lot of people where he lives have fences due to the residential layout). Using their materials is more or less going into their yard since it is their stuff. They have a right to kick you out of their yard if you are causing a little too much trouble, but it is a bit rude to do so. The same goes for people who walk onto the yard. They probably should be aware to try and not cross into the yard if they can help it, but sometimes it's unavoidable. You also don't watch your yard 24/7 to see who's stepping onto it or crossing through it as most of the time it's no big deal. It's only when someone is damaging it you start paying attention. This whole fan-games getting taken down issue isn't going to go away until the copyright and fair use laws address it (because those things really need revised at this point). Here's the thing though: the Pokemon "hacking" (basically put hacks and fan-games into the same categoery) is much bigger than any other community that is so advanced at this point it's impossible to uproot it. It's also gone so far that GF could start hurting in sales due to so many game being higher quality (because back in the day the greats and best are meh to today's standards).
  22. Let me try to put this in a perspective that people can kind of understand that fan-game (moreso fans specifically) makers that actually believe GF took or saw ideas from fan-games and used them are very arrogant and way over their head. I mean Mega Pidgeot could have been in the works before TPP even began for example. Fan-games in terms of Pokemon are like tiny little specs that I doubt GF, a Japanese company, even knows that much about them. They are aware they exist and that's probably the biggest thing about them. It's like me asking y'all what Pokemon Raptor is about and expecting you to know. Storywise I feel GF has been building moreso off the BW roots again from what I've seen. They did quite a bit this time in terms of plot as I'm guessing they were tired after making so many games off the gym leader formula. I think this game was also to make up for the lack of areas gen VI didn't touch. New Pokemon? While it isn't evolutions, Alolan Pokemon are similar to Gen VI's extra evolutions that helped out a whole bunch of older mons and the amount of stat buffs they gave this gen was a lot more than usual for older mons. Most of the like fun features definitely give off B2W2 Vibes including the battle tree and Poke Amie sounds just like that one thing where you could upgrade and build shops in B2W2. I mean I could list a number of complaints in previous games that GF tried to fix or address such as Sucker Punch and Gale Wings. Weather setters were also rather limited so adding a few more really did a lot so Ninetales doesn't have to be your only drought user anymore. As for the region and Z-moves, I'm sure there was a lot of inspiration towards creating all that jazz, but not being there for those discussions really makes it hard to tell what came from what, but I highly doubt anything fan-game wise went into this game. If you come up with an idea, it really shouldn't surprise you if some medium out there uses something near identical to what you're doing which sometimes it's not even intentional (cough Titania cough Ezra cough). From the looks of it, there could be a lot of mythology involved around ultra beasts which quite a number of rpgs throw a little bit of culture into their games (not always their own country either). Sorry to be a kill joy, but I'm pretty sure they were probably looking at hawaii (or quite a number of tropical islands) when looking for how to build Sun & Moon which is a huge building block for them. So many things could've been the inspiration after that though. Only thing I can guess is that the Orange Islands probably wasn't their inspiration for Alolan mon due to the lack of they Crystal Onix.
  23. Yeah, I think the need to jump or be up to the current generation is honestly a bit overrated imo. I suppose one good example is the Tales of Series given how loved some of the older games are and viewed as the best (that goes for a lot of video game series). Gen IV was the biggest jump for Pokemon so it wouldn't be that hard for someone to pick up a Gen IV fan-game/hack and play it, maybe a little weird, but you have to learn mechanics for every new video game you play so...you got bigger problems if it not being like other Pokemon games is your gripe. Anyways rant aside, I'm surprised you're adding Alolan Ninetales given Aurora Viel is a thing. >Tbh, I think the new way you did Verdant Arts is actually A LOT better than the free use at the start of the battle. Maybe a little bit complicated, but it kind of allows you to pull yourself out of a sticky situation if you set yourself up and kind of stops the whole free to use whenever you want (I kind of like games where you have to build up your ultimate attack than when you can use it whenever). As for the level cap, I'm surprised it's 150 (I mean I set Hardcore's up to 120 max, but realistically the max levels for players should be 130 (or 95 for E16) by the end of the game if I wasn't forcing hard level caps). I guess it grinds down to level pacing over length of the game but at that level, you probably should just keep it going above the cap since gaining levels fast does really kind of feel like you're growing really strong. I've seen some RPGs go to level 120 (legend of heroes trails in the sky 3rd/cold steel II since each arc basically is split between two games due to how big they are). Okay as for the new title, it isn't bad at all but kind of looks like the tittle should have half on the top of the screen and half on the bottom and I don't think anybody would say anything if you used that one instead. The problem is with the original tittle screen. That text was just really, really unique and really cool looking so I'd say that one looks better in terms of font. Since titles often give a first impression on what the game is like, I'd really have to know what you'd want out of it to suggest which one to go with. Though with the second one I will say I don't really care for the white background which bugs me a little bit, but the rest looked fine. Though you may want to consider asking for first impressions over which one people like better as that'll likely give you a better answer than preference. I suppose I could give mine if you really wanted them.
  24. An ending is like the finale to a song in that if it ends on a not so good note, it generally makes to whole experience seem bad. Though you are more looking for an uhhappy ending over a poorly written one in terms of the word "bad." Yes, I think a video game can be very enjoyable if they don't give you the satisfactory ending you are looking for if it is designed well, but those are very hard to come by. I can think of one that isn't a horror game: Shadow of the Colossus. While it doesn't end completely sour, that ending just doesn't make you smile or be happy that you've won. It's still quite a well praised game due to how it was written and I say that the ending really does convey the message that they're trying to say. Drakenguard is another series that uses the same style for its endings. It's a very rare element of writing outside of horror stories which I wouldn't mind seeing it a bit more or at least darker elements in endings as it's a bit more realistic often. Definitely bad endings outside of horror is a very, very difficulty element to use due to giving a negative connotation to the audience.
