  1. Does anyone read the OP anymore? We put in there that if you don't get your request fulfilled within a week to PM someone on the list in the OP. I trained a couple people how to do it, but we get busy and requests never run out. I'm not saying for people to not request sutff, but to understand that we have lives. People have been waiting months for Hardcore (which I have been working on this version since October) so I think they deserve the priority rather than destroying my setup which takes a half hour to build back up to fulfill a person's request due to the fact they can't wait a week. This system is also all voluntary so technically if nobody want to fulfill it, nobody has to. I was hoping more people would be willing to fulfill requests once E16 came out and more people were coming to the site, but alas we still have the same problem. I've tried a few things to reduce the wait time, but it's out of my hands at this point. It is understandable as you get nothing out of helping people edit saves and it gets very old very fast when 3 new ones pop up when you finish a batch.

  4. So as most people could probably see, Hardcore is done event wise and now I get to alpha test this bloody demon. Quite literally it decides to make Obsidia Ward lag to hell on me when I haven't even touched it (and it generally worked fine during the first testing session). I'll try to reduce a bit of lag regarding a few city areas, but it's possible that even removing 50 events wouldn't make a difference. It sucks, but there are limits to what I can do. I'll at least make it to where lag is bearable even if it mean removing stuff like lights at night. I still have a few things left but Alpha testing will be going up soon (you can blame Mr. Bull for why it isn't up now). Once the game reaches a playable state, the game will be open beta. Which will go from the start of the game all the way up until Luna.
  5. And I never make a bet I cannot win.

  7. ERAMGAWD THAT QUIZ WAZ SO HARDZ! I GOTZ A 0/10 CUZ THE MACHINE WAS CHEATING! LOOKIE! That quiz barely tests your knowledge regarding Pokemon and doesn't even go past Gen 3. I suppose for someone who hasn't played Pokemon in years a couple questions would be tricky, but I probably could've thought of some easy questions to trick people (Feraligatr for a who's that Pokemon for one). Interesting enough, I'm wondering what 3 questions people taking this quiz missed (the Pidgey question I can see and maybe Groudon, but I can't think of the third one).

its pretty funny because I remember this persons intro thread and I think ark said something similar in there

  9. @ZEL I have to agree with you on that point considering my signature and ace are two different Pokemon. The thing is that those Pokemon are the Signature Pokemon to the leaders themselves, but Ame made them the aces. For example, Luna hardly ever used Umbreon despite it being her ace in the game. Shade often led with Chandelure as well. But as for in-game, most leaders have secondary aces such as Corey's Skuntank which is where the gray area comes in.
  10. I fixed the list you made since there were a few mistakes. While Tania and Hardy aren't 100% confirmed, those are very highly likely the aces they will use based on what they used during their league battles. As for the non badge leaders (they all served as gym leaders during the league season though): Sigmund: Electivire El: Ditto (people say Snorlax, but he's also had Smeargle in his pictures) Laura: Lilligant Blake: Walrien Cal: Magmortar Cain: Nidoking Victoria: Gallade (Emboar in the games though) Arclight: Jolteon (Ampharos in game though) Heather: Salamence Bennett: Volcarona Anna: No idea, but has Gothitelle (likely won't use Jirachi) Lin: Hydreigon Fern: Roserade
  11. Normally I don't jump into regards of this but given my position of how I used to do a lot of constructive criticism in the young writing world along with uhh...knowing quite a bit of how game creating works: I should jump in. I'm not going to go too far into this, but yeah, I've been there even well because the hardest part of any game is building it the first time. Revising and redoing sections of it is easy to do over time as you get better, but acquiring those skills takes time and sometimes you even miss stuff which is why criticism can be helpful. Criticism is to inform and help improve the game, not say whatever you want. Having an understanding of how making a game works really helped how I'd review and help other people out compared to before I did the whole mod stuff. If the guy really knew what he was talking about, terms such as pacing, visuals, and word choice would've been used to explain what he was saying. And I know I said before I want to play Desolation (like maybe I forgot to post it, but let's pretend I did if I didn't), but unfortunately I have a lot of things that suck up my free time. And making a game takes a very, very long time. I've seen where this game started out and it's come a very long way from episode 1, but after that, I know like next to nothing about the game, but it's quite the talk that I feel like I see it discussed more than Rejuv at times. But anyways, don't worry too much if you get posts like that (I'm the weird guy who gets more of a kick out of it because I can't take them seriously when the give criticism in that manner) because it's inevitable. Just remember how far you've come and if you keep chipping at it over time, you'll be amazed at what you can do. Oh I know it's really late down the line, but here are two features really well liked from Hardcore (they aren't hard to make either) you might want to consider: -the Level Limiter: I still have one kink in this system, but the concept is merely to stop Pokemon from leveling until they earn a gym badge (though I used the defeat the gym leader as my reason for level changes). But the idea behind this is to make grinding a little less tedious because let's face it: to grind up weak Pokemon you have to use a stronger Pokemon and all that does is add a tedious use of common candies or fighting the disobedience system. -the Item Ban: I can never give this thing a good name, but it merely removes all items in battle (ie opponents don't potion spam and players can't access their bags). This one actually surprised me as I thought things would be impossible since I normally use a lot of items in battle, but somehow removing items from the opponent balances this thing out.
  12. So if any of you were trying to download 16.1, I took it down due to some errors before reuploading it. The links should work now.

  13. I know I made a post earlier but I decided to update Reborn Hardcore to fix some errors (though I haven't tested everything, it should at least function properly. I just want to give you a rundown on why I kept the other one still up. Download -Fixed the WTC fight crash -Fixed the weird map underground thing (no idea what's going on there since it now shows the mucky water, but at least you get to the right location) -Added rematch trainer fights after Florinia and before Corey -I may or may not have forgotten to re-add a certain lovable guy in Episode XIV's areas -The save file system now runs on the Reborn Hardcore Folder (so you may have to transfer your save files over to the new folder) -The level limiter has been added -(The other features exist in the data, but have not been properly implemented yet) So yeah, I kind of had an issue trying to update the game so...ya'll get a small chunk of what I've been working on recently. A very small chunk, but still a chunk. I also have a message to dataminers just as a warning. While I kept a lot of the data for the CoM version, there are sections missing so playing around with it might screw your save file up hard. I'd advise waiting for the CoM mid-release coming soon(ish) which will have all the data you'd need to play around with it. Edit: GDI, just give me an hour and I should have the right DL link up. Edit 2: Okay, download is fixed.

I think the price is a slight problem, but Nintendo at least did one thing right with this system. They actually listened to their fans and brought stuff that people have been waiting even decades for. Many of their announcements they made were for stuff people asked for 5+ years on. Wii U's biggest problem was that there weren't that many great games. And the library was very, very shallow.

    3. Farnsworth

      Farnsworth

Imo the Wii U had some great games, but the library was shallow and didn't offer much variety. The problem is that none of these great games did anything new or exciting, to entice consumers (other than Splatoon). The best example of this is Super Mario 3D World, it was an excellent game, but it didn't have the same impact as Super Mario Galaxy or even Super Mario Odyssey. The games really only appealed to hardcore Nintendo fans and did little to pull in other types of consumers.

Though by far the Wii U's biggest problem was its marketing. Even years after the console launched there were tons of people who still thought it was an accessory for the Wii. That was really pitiful, I can't fathom how a company can market their new console so poorly. Hopefully Nintendo learned its lesson from the Wii U.

Marketing aside from the ehh presentation has been on point honestly. Shows the products intended purpose well.

  15. So I know I haven't been updating the status for a while, but I reached Episode 10 content which is Radomus. Though digging around the forums, I noticed a rather...interesting problem. A lot of people have been complaining about the new weather system so...do you want me to bring back the old one/have it as an option? Yes, this will cause the long delay in Obsidia (though I could turn it into a parallel process...I'll think of something here) still but...it'd basically just work like the old one. Tbh, it wouldn't add that much work since I have to edit the weather system anyways for CoM (though this one would be a much bigger edit). And you have time to answer as it looks like this episode might take a while to get done. A certain Purple haired man has cause a slight...technical difficulty.
  16. Today I learned that you can have more than 15 pages for a single event.

  17. Since I see a large pile up and the two people fulfilling requests are Njab and occasionally myself for the most part, I just want to throw out there that since the PBS files are public, anyone with rpgmakerxp can do these requests. If we cannot get 2 or 3 people with the uhh...game making app, I do have another way to get around it. If anyone is interested in learning how to do it, just PM me and I will give you a quick rundown. As for the list of saves that need fulfilled, I'll get to work on them later today as I need sleep. I won't do pseudos and will probably ignore natures and ivs. I mean I won't give you 0 ivs but don't expect super mons.
  18. @baldr It's not that updating the game takes a long time. That took about 3 days (mostly because I was permanently fixing a problem so that I wouldn't have to fix it again later down the line). It's actually making and testing to make sure all of this stuff works that sucks up a ton of time (CoM has a BIG update coming to it). After that, I can more or less copy and paste them over which take 10 minutes a piece. As for alpha testing, I've kind of tested over a bunch of stuff so everything should be fine (or at least function and not game crashing or glitching). I still need to get through Episode VI in testing but not very much was added in that segment. I'm going to get to work on VII-XII now which after alpha testing, will be the mid release version. I was going to break it up more, but then I remembered the major game breaking glitch with the Tauros that if even a single curious person tried playing with, they'd screw up their game (well trainer card) which cannot be fixed. (Even though it is hilarious seeing Fern running and jumping all across route 1). To do that though, I'm making the sprites for the party members available at the time. I'm only going to get the tauros sprites done and save the rest for when I work on CoM (because it'd take a month to sprite all of them if not 2 alone). Here's one I finished today since well...I can't post too many picture
  19. Based on my test runs with the Party System for Hardcore, Fern could've easily defeated Noel if he really wanted to. The field was far into his advantage and he had a pretty good team topped with a few sweepers. Scizor could've taken care of Swellow the only major threat to him as Serperior would've swept the floor with the rest of his team. Theoretically, Aya would've been the only leader (besides Kiki...but that's the Hardcore version) just due to her being able to counter offensive tactics hard. Charlotte he had a Rain Dance Ludicolo if he really needed it and Ciel would've been a challenge which is probably why he had a Rhyperior in the first place. Actually I want to say another big lie Fern made: he got his butt kicked hard by Shelly. Like my soul was being crushed trying to fight her hard and I had two more Pokemon than regular Fern did. Corey also gave me hell, but beyond those two fights, there wasn't too much that was super scary that he didn't have counters for.
  20. I'm just going to make this a separate update because well it's kind of important. I felt a bit better today so I reviewed all of the apps and sent out feedback to quite a number of the participants. I did say the deadline was the 1st of January (though technically the deadline was supposed to be mid-December). I gotta get to bed...because I'm sick, but if I didn't send you a PM yet, I should within the next couple of days. I'll post the results here after I hear from all of our winners. I'm ecstatic that some really cool teams were submitted for this. I do have another announcement. While it may seem weird, I'm going to release Hardcore CoM into 4 parts. The first part which is from the start up until Kiki should be ready for a release within a week. The second release will go up until Samson, the third up to Adrienn, and the final one is basically for CoM alone. Now you're probably asking: why on earth does the CoM need a separate release? The long story short is that while it's done, there's a huge content release I want to add to it. The reason I want to break it up into sections is so that early goers can run through the game and report broken stuff to help smooth it out for the next release over for people who want to wait until it's all done.

    EXP?

Exp is a system that was supposed to replace the old system, but it really isn't used for much other than to gain ace membership once it reaches 1,000 points. As for how to gain exp, I am unfortunately going to have to take a jab at the site and system saying it is near impossible. Though a more serious answer, basically mods or staff give you points...based on doing a good job or being helpful. Other members could kind of give points to another person by making a topic in the speakeasy thread, though anonymously. I also think staff giving you rep also increases your exp. Rep is just Reborn's of the like button. As for the amount of exp given for the methods above, I have no idea as I haven't gained any myself. The reason I have 1,000 exp is due to being an ace before the new system was in place. I have seen a couple people's experience go up about 20 points but again, that's not a reliable number.
  22. That is uhh...more of RPGmaker functioning on his computer than anything on my side. Though...holding X does indeed text skip, the double battle in the WTC is bugged because Commander is an idiot and missed one of like 10 trainers that changed names, and for some reason talking to the Snubbull at the start of the game (instead of the girl) causes a freeze. As for the rail net, the new one seems to be missing the warp tiles. I'm currently playing through the game trying to spot these errors that popped up and fixed a couple but PLEASE REPORT ANY GAME BREAKING ONES HERE! I basically mean the game is impossible to play because of a glitch, error, etc. I also haven't forgotten about the create a team contest, but hell has hung over around my place and just when I got that sorted out (well almost sorted out) I got a cold. I'll try to get those critiqued and announced before the 14th of January. I have a general idea who placed where, but I need to relook at it just to make a final decision. I'm really glad I got as many participants as I did and best of luck to everyone. Now regarding the alpha testing, I've been thinking about it and I'm definitely going to need one more alpha tester so I'll post the info in the OP at a later date. I'll accept up to two people, but you are required to be familiar with RPGmaker and more specifically, debugging as well as spend...5 hours a week on testing. Mostly what I need someone to pretty much run through the game however they like, report any problems/give feedback as well as test a few of those features. If you're interested, just shoot me a PM, although, it'll probably be a month before I ask you to do anything since well...I got alpha 1 covered at this point. I do have some bad news, I think insanity mode is getting dropped. I got an error trying to make money a really low amount as well as it just not functioning at all. While I could do the 10% level increase, it's just so small amount it's just not worth it. So instead, I'll give you guys a couple options (I will take suggestions, but nothing to force players to do something such a monorun script, forced set...I will make the game start on set if you want that though, nuzlocke scripts, etc). It's only going to be one thing though so...pick your poison: -Randomized Wild Pokemon Only (aka like in CoM E15) -Pokemon Reborn Abridged Version -Create-a-trainer thread -Super Bosses I'm going to wait a little bit to make a straw poll (since polls are broken on this thread T_T), but Create-a-trainer is a two week session thread in each new episode release that I'll add new trainers to HCHQ to rebattle. Unlike the trainers in the Grand Hall, they are episode based so they'll stay until you defeat the gym leader and a new batch will come in. It's similar to the contest I made, except a few more restrictions based on the episode you're in (2-5 are 4 mons, 6-12 are 5, and 16 is 6). Trust me, early episodes are a lot more fun to create teams for than later ones. Super Bosses is an interesting category as we'll only be seeing one in this episode adding one more per episode until the final release. There are 4 (possibly a fifth if I sprite the overworld for that one) all of which break some type of rule in Pokemon (such as breaking the cap, disabling items, etc). Won't say much more in regards to this, but if this gets chose, I'll add in more unique ones. And yes, they would give out a prize for beating them.
  23. For those of you who thought Hardcore Julia was too easy. Here's a teaser to her Alternate fight:

  24. 60% is still a very good chunk of game done. Admittedly, I think the ability to keep both Pokemon alive as well as dialogue mid battle really stands out. Just a little thing I believe but the little things really add up in the long run. Still keeping an eye on this page even if I don't say too much.
  25. Let's think about this for a minute: -Ultra-Beasts have legendary stats and are super broken. They also played a critical role in Gen VII in being foreign dimension pokemon. -Reborn has only had one single legendary appear in game (though not really) and only refer to one other throughout the entire storyline -Reborn focuses less on Pokemon and more on characters If they are going to appear, it will be brief and not catchable so...I wouldn't count your chickens to see them until Post game. GF games do a lot more around lore building and stories regarding the legendaries (which ultra beasts are and are not at the same time). In fact after Gen I, a non mascot legendary makes an appearance at some point in the game. Reborn is different and it showcases how powerful people can become using the pulse machines to turn meh Pokemon into absolute monsters. Wouldn't really make so much sense to build up how powerful these ideals and tech is to the point we see what happens when you put an Arceus in one then suddenly, a whole swarm of monsters just as strong as pulses appear because...why not? I'm sure somebody could, but I just don't see any logical sense or effect adding the UBs in would do other than a few jarring/forced moments.
