  1. I'm not really that good of a spriter, but I try. RIP generic overworld sprite: https://gyazo.com/755d204a4f024ba75ed3990ef894ff70

Not bad! The only thing I noticed is that you worked on a 1:1 scale on the sprite's shirt, while the sprite was resized to 2:1 scale, so try to avoid doing that unless you do the entire sprite in 1:1.

Other than that it looks pretty decent, so keep it up! Practice makes perfect :]

(also i'm sorry if this is unsolicited feedback oop)

  2. There are many reasons to not show the data as making it permanently seeable would more or less make it permanent. I'm not saying Hosts should fudge things behind the scenes, but there are times where it could and should happen. Let's say some unfortunate crit or a player makes a mistake that could end the entire run by just one enemy being too strong. The host could lower its stats so that not everyone gets slaughtered (it'll probably still cost them though). This leaves room for error on both the player and host sides versus straight stats that once released, are in nobody's control in desperate times. This is not a video game where someone could test something to see how it performs and make changes for what players experience. There will be mistakes and misjudgements. It's also based around players instead of a single person controlling all movements. RPs rarely go straight in the direction the host plans so they need to adapt and often change some of their plans. Neither option is right or wrong. One just has more control.
  3. Believe me, I'd love to tease or give a hint, but we're really not allowed to. I sadly can't even confirm or deny anything. I'm actually just waiting until the community release comes out so I can finally make the pun I'm holding onto.
  4. What I say applies to Hardcore, not to Reborn itself. The AI overall has improved to be about on par with Pre-XIV days though I did encounter with my fight designs a couple of not using the right move or best possible move. There is a lot of other things that have improved though which might surprise you. The AI mess ups in Hardcore were minimal so it's probably a good thing it won't be that much different.
  5. So Hardcore news after quite a while for the update. Yes, the E16 Beta is out. Yes, I've played and helped with the beta testing so I do no the contents of what's to come out. However, there is very minimal that I can share. There is one thing I can share: Hardcore likely will come out the day of or very close to the community release. AI seems to perform very similar to how it did before so testing likely won't be needed so much. Any issues or errors can be fixed for the CoM version. I do have some bad news though. It looks like I'm going to need more time for the Moded version as I need to restructure the CoM, mostly the ones who abuse wind (aka Noel and Ciel). Hopefully this will be a PERMANENT fix to the problem just like I did with the whole CoM and alternate leaders. I'm hoping to have it ready in December, but it looks like Mid-January might be more reasonable. There is still a lot to do including the Mega ring quest. Hardcore's mega ring quest will be different than the regular one which I have a good reason for. I'm not sure what I'll replace the original quest prize for though. Though I will throw one teaser out there: In the Hardcore E16 release, you'll see a building that is locked that is not in the regular version of Reborn. It's actually going to be accessible in the CoM version though.
  6. Ah yes, this sadly bring back memories of the one FE RP I did which likely won't see the light of day with life and other projects sucking my free time to the last minute. Anyways, just holler if you want to use any of my old stuff I have lying around. Also if you see me creating a sign up sheet, tackle me straight to the ground.
  7. Since this goes for Hardcore as well, once the final release and polishing is done, Reborn will be completed and we will move on. It takes quite an effort to update to current gen content which is asking a lot for a developers. Once both Reborn and the mod are complete they both will be open mod so someone down the line could tackle the challenge or use everything we've done for something else mod wise. Edit: Whoops, I missed something. Ame said they'd put Gen VII in at some point, but that's likely it since at least two years inbetween each gen I doubt we'll see anything beyond that.
  8. As it stands right now, save files shouldn't be flagged on old saves, but that might change if you do stuff on Episode 17. We'd actually have to look at E16's coding to see if the system has been placed in but I doubt it. You and like the dozens of other people who keep asking are searching for answers to things we do not know about and likely won't for at least another 6 months. If it becomes a major issue, people will look into it for fixes whether it's modders or the developers, but if you don't understand why this flag system is in place, then you likely are safe. When this online system comes out, we're all are going to be very, very strict on how things function. Request a mon will flag your save making it unplayable for example (that method I'm almost certain of). Until then, it's best not to worry about.
  9. You know, I kind of am still hoping we get to see more on a certain scientist from Platinum. No seriously I will lose it if they don't at least have something in regards to Charon given his role in the plot may have been minor, but significant. As for Episode 10, I felt the episode honestly dragged on too long in some sections as I felt they could've ended it with Cheryl fleeing the chateau. Though tbh, I felt it was creepier in the games. That NPC walking out of the banquet hall and I'm pretty sure there's another in the bedrooms.
  10. (Watches Generations Episode 10) OH COME ON! WHY'D YOU HAVE TO END IT LIKE THAT!

  11. Sounds like you've put a lot of detail and thought into this one. The whole amount of work creating the losing part of this tournament is more on you than player's thoughts, but most people do not accept loses and would just save before the tournament starts and never lose. I do suggest teaching the players it's okay to lose a battle in one of these in sort of a mock trail tournament instead of throwing them into one that'd affect events down the line. Really hard to say how to go with this as for myself, I probably would've forced players to win all of their battles or have to redo the entire thing aka white out, but technically you are using game overs so...same story more or less. As for your worries about the top tiers, people were able to overcome the CoM which is something where battles can be absolutely brutal. Most of the gauntlet's design is to test how good a team is by throwing a whole bunch of different strategies (the final areas don't even hold back) against them. Perfect EV trained mons struggle in that thing even. If people can get through that, I'm pretty sure balancing won't be an issue for you.
  12. I'm trying to remember charlotte's levels, but your teams level is a little low to face her. Pretty sure she's in the 65-66 with that level 72 Ninetales. Since you have Golem, you can exploit the whole Typhlosion and Solar Beam to set up with Trick Room. Charlotte's team is so frail it should go down rather quickly with a hard hitter or two on the field. As for Rotom, just let that thing Overheat once or twice and it's completely worthless to her.
  13. I've used Gyazo and postimage which are generally fine, but anyways that's not what I wanted to talk about. I like the tournament idea, but I suppose there's a lot from a gameplay perspective that should be discussed. First and foremost is with regards on how the tournament will work. Will it be 4 battles in a row without healing (probably will be healed between battles) or will there be breaks inbetween. CoM style (I just used this as a coin term tbh) where items and shift are prohibited would also make sense. Other than all that, I'm totally for a change outside of the classic gym puzzle before leader style. Quite a bit you can do with this, but I would need more info on how you want to approach this. I will warn you that back-to-back battles are some of the trickiest to balance.
  14. The 99% has nothing to do with whether or not it really is 100%. 100% means this thread gets locked since the episode is complete until beta testing. The bigger reason it isn't is due to the need to retest large portions of the game for errors, many that have lasted for episodes worth of time, and is an undefined amount. This will likely stay this way for the next two weeks until the alpha testing is done. Then Beta testing will happen. Trust me there's a lot you can do outside of waiting. I spent the last month and a half worth of time getting content for Hardcore E16 done (though like CoM 1.5 is also E16 planned content) and I'm far from it being ready as polishing takes a very long time to do. Just be patient and play something else while you wait. I mean I'm working of the Legend of Heroes Skies and Cold Steel games which I'm sure E16 will come out before I'm done with them, and school, and modding, and the other projects I'm a part of.
  15. Okay, I see there is a bit of a problem going on with fulfilling requests and it hasn't gotten better. I think we should have a PM rule where the request should be PM'd to someone (or the requester should do that) after a week of it not being fulfilled. Unless someone else wants to be the go to person, you can have Simon or another mod put down my name to PM on the OP in this situation. E16 is still a ways away, but we can't have this happening when that comes out without a plan.

We're sorry but the animation you're looking for is in another episode.
  17. Ah, I know of that error and that was an oversight on my part. I believe that was a glitch in 1.5, but I thought I fixed it in 1.51. If you downloaded the link from this page (aka the download rar file reads CoM 1.51) please PM me and I'll give you a fix, but try redownloading from here first. I know of the error and it should have been fixed for wild Pokemon battles. The alternative method is to just run regular Reborn for a little bit to catch a new wild Pokemon, but that really isn't practical.
  18. Hardcore's CoM is close, but not at the maximum strength a leader could be at the player's level in the lategame. Neither Reborn or Hardcore is going to sit there and give something without finding a way to still make the game challenging or throw something at you. I can't stop things from breaking the game, but I can promise to throw challenges and stuff that people will really enjoy if they opt out of those things. Ciel is a solid example. People find Hardcore Ciel generally easy as there's so much to counter her, not because her team is bad.
  19. So...this is both kind of an update to get back on the front page...after that...you know what, but actually more along the lines of addressing something I haven't really talked about but was apparently noticeable. It has to do with a lot of the changes or strange things that happen with hardcore that I've kept. While the overall layout of many events won't change, quite a number of text changes will happen due to the shift in what I'm doing. When I first made Hardcore, I really didn't take it seriously and focused on challenge and challenge only aka the gym battles. I did throw some things in purely for challenge (such as the certain cameo in glitch city which was also a test to start learning about game making). Quite a number of events were admittedly lazily put in and probably people took the mod more seriously than I did since it was more or less to get people to shut up about certain stuff such as dumb AI and Reborn being too easy (for the game being too hard, those people could play alternative games instead). The game also broke the fourth wall knowing that it was a game. Pretty much all the dialogue relating to that is going to be scrapped. I've actually decided to implement Hardcore into the world so here's kind of what to expect the dialogue changes to reflect: First and foremost, players will be participating in the Hardcore league instead of the regular reborn league upon entering the Reborn region. What is the Hardcore league? It's an underground boderline illegal version of the Reborn league where gym leaders use much stronger teams than normal. Due to the rarity of Pokemon along with the number of casualties that occurred, only highly skilled trainers are even allowed to partake in this league. Battles are also administered and managed by a small force called the Hardcore team. They don't manage the leaders themselves, but merely the teams. As for members of the league, the only one I can reveal is Gym Guy, the one who spectates most of your battles, but he doesn't start doing that until Shelly for people who've played the game. I'm sure many of you could spectate who also is part of this group. There are actually 6 members as of right now, but that could possibly change. Don't worry though as all of this is side stuff and won't get in the way of the plot. Gym Guy's misadventures and how he manages to catch up to the player when all his brother failed is an example of this. (Fun fact: he's the one from Julia's Gym).
  20. I would, but you took the job before I could. It's not easy to become a developer or even part of the Reborn team. The last hiring session happened like uhh...quite a long while ago where coders due to Kuro's situation along with some graphic animators were added to the team. Marcello didn't actually get the developer status until very recently just due to the huge amount of progress he made. Admittedly, he probably did more for Reborn than I ever could considering it was either him or me. You have to do A LOT more than just a few simple scripts or something like you said. Pretty sure I joked about him deserving the rank bug exterminator. Not sure what you mean by that. Again not Ame. I think what Ame was talking about and the misunderstanding is her going back and redoing and improving all of the older areas of the game. I think that's kind of normal given I feel like everything I do is terrible and I want to completely redo it from scratch. Though that's probably true given I haven't put effort into any of the added texts which is part of my to do list mod wise. The ones I did are ones I intentionally didn't want anyone to notice. In terms of maintaining, those events have been set and predetermined since their release and haven't really changed. The diary was merely changed due to the stir and ruckus everyone made about having to read it. In terms of overworld and story, the game has stayed pretty true since back when I played the Episode VII version. The gameplay and battles have changed significantly as well as the mons but for good reason.
  21. I suppose mod wise it would be possible to do something like this by saving the storage into a text file and creating a method to read the said text file and replace the storage with that one if that's what you're looking for. I personally don't have an incentive to create one as I always try to push people into trying new mons the next go around and keep multiple save files like suggested.
