  1. The hacking community only just breached into making work on a computer but that still is a long ways away. I doubt it'd ever work on a phone.
  2. Hardcore is basically the mod I created with a focus on enhancing the difficulty along with projects based around the fan base discussion. It's currently located in the fan game expose. Money should not be a problem though I suppose x items would be very pricey early on.
  3. If I weren't on a phone I'd joke about firing the guy and letting me beta test. But it's really gonna grind down to how much you want to cater to those people as they won't care too much about story. My personal rule of thumb for designing events is that so long as the scene isn'the just people standing there speaking a large amount of text. Given pokemon's game design, that can be a problem. I am already redoing a certain event because I am not satisfied with it just being mostly text (like 40 lines worth). You're in a very unique situation since most fangames are nothing like yours. Criticism is for awareness, not absolute. There's also so much advice I can give only knowing bits and pieces of the game vs a full experience. That's a blessing and curse at the same time.
  4. Oh! Oh! That's my department (why didn't I see this comment earlier)! When Zoroark was first implemented and even with the breeding moves added onto Pokemon, Sludge Bomb Zoraork did not exist. The above pic is actually something for Hardcore, but you won't be able to use it through normal Reborn since well, I always make sure you work for the good Pokemon. I don't see Ame giving a level 15 or something Zorua Sludge Bomb because that'd be really OP and I have no intentions on changing most event mons. Sludge Wave Gengar ain't gonna happen unless we get Sludge Bomb before it. Edit: Just thinking about that made me realize how long ago Episode 15 came out.
  5. A concept like this hardly works out as it takes both a shit ton of luck as well as a ton of preperation ahead of time since without perfect Pokemon, the late game will just swallow you whole. Sure you might make it past Shelly, but that's where it gets into reset hell while you also have to deal with level caps due to having no Pokemon since exp spread was designed for using six Pokemon instead of 2. There's also the rule of two hits. Basically, it requires two hits to knock out a Pokemon. 2 vs 6 kind of explains itself in which it's be 4 hits on you and 12 hits for opponents (not to mention doubles and back to back). Due to this, you'd often have to grind over the cap (which a lot of solo runners do) to about 10, 20, or even 30 levels. I'm not trying to kill your run, but I'm merely saying that this really isn't practical and it kind of grinds down to fun levels. You also have to remember my mindset is skewed since I spend a lot of time making the challenging even more challenging so I can't even remember how difficult some of the older fights even are. Though I do know a lot about Ninetales: While I love Ninetales, it's really meh as a Solo mon. It can take a couple special attacks and dish out decent damage as long as it uses Flamethrower, but its nearly worthless against something that resists Flamethrower. Speed and Special Defense really aren't going to get it far. Not a good partner for Espeon since both pretty much die to an earthquake due to their pitiful Defense stat. Magic Bounce while in theory is a good idea, it doesn't get too much use in game. Ninetales needs a Chlorophyll Sleep Powder Mon to do its job while Espeon needs a tanky mon to drain hits through Follow Me.
  6. Even when she was down to her last two she still put a number on your team. This is kind of why the level limiter was implimented since Trauncy screws hard with the game. Hardcore unfortunately shines light in areas Reborn was able to cover up due to the higher demand in resources in difficulty. I think Marcello fixed many of the bugs though (and believe me I have plenty of my own I have to deal with). I don't consider the magic bounce glitch an issue as A) what caused it has theoretically been fixed for E16 and B.) There's only one Magic Bounce mon at this point in time legally though it's really not that good or useful. But Shelly is to Hardcore as Aya was to Reborn at one point being a wall halting progress until you learn to overcome her. This is a prime example of how I shut people completely up since I got complaints like crazy she was way too easy because you could light her field on fire. I grew a heart and made that version optional due to it destroying and even slaughtering people and even threw in a singles version that's a bit more offensive focused.

  8. While the variables will hold values there is no guarantee that they will affect anything at all. This is where most users get the whole hype confusion storm going around. It's kind of like half the Hardcore updates I did. Many of the features I added were actually implemented 3 or 4 revisions (CoM it was like 8) before they could be used or accessed. I said altered dialogue was about it, but I believe Ame deconfirmed that for E16.
  9. So any interesting news...well...don't bother trying to get you saves modded for the mystery egg. Not because it's axed but because many of you will be giving me lots and lots of complaints because your precious "Volcarona" or "Axew" isn't in the game anymore. It's horribly unbalanced in Reborn to the point everybody is requesting that it gets changed to so-and-so Pokemon. It's still worth doing, just not worth requesting to get it changed. I also finished one of the new fights for 16, and this has been one that's been asked and requested...a lot since the early stages of Hardcore especially due to changing a certain someone that gets plenty of love hate from the design change. That's all your gonna get out of me though. As for fights in E16, I plan on adding roughly 20 new ones plus whatever is added for E16 obviously. But yeah here's the breakdown of the releases as they'll go: Reborn Hardcore E16 (no modificiations other than battles) Reborn Hardcore + CoM + Features (Same as above with all the stuff in the current release plus everything I talked about) Reborn Hardcore Party System (Everything above along with the party system) The party system is probably my most ambitious project outside of CoM. Since Ame did a complete overhall of the game...I gotta redo quite a bit so I'm likely going to add 400 or so lines of text/missable dialogue which that takes a long while. There's also the possibility Radomus could be a partner and since here at hardcore we don't stop at good enough, I will add all of his overworld costumes in which will be in a submenu. Backsprites...not so much. I do have a prediction that we'll be partnering up with someone (and if we battle a certain gym leader...I'll have to do them too) new so that'll take time to develop. And yes Commander does have a good guess what's gonna happen in E16 which is why he's delaying the party system a bit

Something more like: "While this won't be coming to episode 16, a certain someone will. A champion to all. Are they good or are they evil? You'll have to play to find out."

  12. First, I love that fan-art and how it's drawn. Sorry I get distracted by pretty pictures. Secondly, that's really hard for me to say. You say you're axing an hour long scene and it's about training. I'd have to look at the scene to give proper feedback but here's my belief on the situation: Not everyone can handle story heavy RPGs as often there will be long periods of time without player engagement and interaction. Maybe you could break it up and allow for the characters to be controlled so that said beta tester isn't bored and can think about what he's doing or maybe you need to remove some of the humor scenes so that the impact of the character development is better. When it comes to character development scenes you definitely don't want to cut those out if you can. But if it's possible you may want to break it up into segments since well...sometimes people need a breather from a long set of clip scenes (though I can handle like two hours worth if it's relevant to the plot). Just really grind down to the player base and given Pokemon fans have some of the shortest attention spans, I can see where the problem and concerns may lie. Maybe throwing a couple loseable battles or even letting the player be able to walk around could help. (And I just repeated myself).
  13. I've only played about 2 minutes of this game, mostly because of someone misspelling an item causing a crash, and I can honestly say that it impressed me already. I said a long time ago that if it tried living in Reborn's shadow it'd die out so I'm kind of glad it really is its own thing. It definitely could use some work in the writing department, but considering it's a fan-game, writing really doesn't have a standard. What impressed me is that they already implemented a CGI cutscene...and the glorious screwup that is Arcanine can be female (which is super easy to fix). I'll play a little bit in a month or so, but right now I'm a little bit busy. I hope they fixed all of those typos and stuff because misspelled words can be very jarring and really hurtful to a game.

  15. <<<Designed every fight whose name isn't Julia Many of the leaders I'm not going to hold any punches back on, unlike in Regular Hardcore. I did not design CoM fights to be easy so if you're team isn't rounded enough, one of the leaders is gonna tear you to shreds (similar to how the Reborn league worked...which this is as close to a substitute as I could make). After you get past the current final leader in each episode, that's where all the fun stuff happens. Like I'm surprised people are even able to beat it because I can defeat everyone but that one last fight.
  16. Oh god this brings back discussion with how murder works...those were not the best things. But Cal did kill Kiki's Medicham as he was the one who committed the act. Unless Solaris was using some mind control mumbo jumbo, him giving the order means nothing in those terms since Cal could have not obeyed that command.
  17. That's a CoM 1.5 glitch if heather gets stuck or something. I fixed that glitch in 1.51 which is uhhh somewhere in this thread. I know, we're all tired of not finding the most updated version in the OP. I know and we'll fix that for 16.
  18. Geeze everybody has to be a critic on a joke. I said old aqua gang leader as the dialogue implied he was giving up his old ways which is more or less killing his way of living (aka no more gang leader). We won't exactly know if he's gone for good though until the last release of the last version of Reborn. And Cal really did kill that Medicham. He wanted to have the pulse machine malfunction (instead of the pulse destroyed) so that Team Meteor would be in a rough spot trying to blow up Apophyll given they don't have the materials and the island would be prepared for a second ambush if it were to come. Killing the Medicham would just give him more trust from Meteor and he would've done that to any Pokemon that attempted to destroy the pulse. That Medicham I'm guessing is to show that Kiki's teaching did not go to waste. We know bits and pieces of what Cal was like before he stepped down as a gym leader, but we know he changed during Apophyll and even more after the Apophyll events. You could say that its out of regret for killing Kiki's Medicham, or it's a promise to redeem himself. We'll probably never know why he raised a Medicham, but that he's still using what he learned from Kiki's teachings. "The heart of Reborn shall fall" along with saying good-bye to someone permanently. Shade also appeared after we battled Taka, another big sign. And Solaris is getting Lin involved. Clearly all of this build-up and foreshadow means nothing and the episode is going to be about Mr. Stone's peaceful adventures in Reborn. Sorry to say, but it's very unlikely Ame is tricking us and there not being a death in the coming episodes.

  20. The only reason I'd cut no item is if nobody used it...which I have absolutely no idea on since I hear nothing on it. It'll only be a lot of work if Ame scrambled up the trainer locations (aka put the new orderlies somewhere in the middle). Nostalgia mode I'm getting a little bit on the Obsidia forest causing lag...which makes sense because that's adding six events on an already event heavy location. It might not be a feature but moreso just alternate fights. As for insanity mode: would you guys rather it be something like 10% (or 5%) level increase and basically only give 10% of normal money so that you have to be very stingy on your money spending. 20% is way too high and I could see that with the first pulse growth being way overleveled. I could also give additional money to people who play that mode, but I'm not changing the prices on anything since...it's complicated. As for the party system...the thing works pretty great though the pain in the ass is not due to 90% of how people will use it, but mostly that one guy who will try every glitch possible screwing up his game permanently. Got most of that taken care of except for one behemoth of an event that's taken 15 hours worth of work and is only halfway done and the map that's been the bane of my existence: Route 1. Now I have two solutions for this problem: 1) I pretty much lower them all to level 1 since the player is the only one who can ride them (the party system would also be temporarily disabled). This is the easiest to program and get working. 2) I provide an temporary NPC partner who pretty much just owns a Tauros so that people can get across the route with ease. He will disappear after the quick riding Tauros becomes available. Not hard to do, but a little weird to implement. 3) People actually make the 4 overworld sprites I need (I mean you have 80% of it in front of you done) and I'd merely add it in so you can ride Tauros with those said party members (other party members would not have access to this feature). I mean...I don't have much to give out for the third option (I only have about 1,500 rupees and I'm way over spending budget after getting this laptop fixed). I mean if you guys do all the spriting stuff (honestly I could probably do most of the overworld other than surfing), I could turn any of the coding stuff I did into free-to-use/tutorials or a custom trainer battle...or I could do something silly like change my name to Going Commando. (Yes, I'm that desperate).
  21. I highly doubt Ame would kill off the cameo character because that'd mess with consistency with the normal Pokemon games. I'm still predicting it's Mr. Stone, though I could see it being Steven Stone probably due to old reborn shenanigans I wasn't around for. Still odd that 16 episodes later, it's the first time we see a cameo character so I have a feeling it's more linked to the plot than a side mission. Though guessing a character dying is hard since so many died. What, you thought there were only 3? Let me just list them for you: So yeah, good chance a few people are dying in the next episode though they'll probably be unnamed NPCS.

      The only things I've seen even close are the FineBros thing from a while back and spam videos, which people tend to downvote just to get out of their sight.

      I'm not too surprised. The way they are implmenting the system is... very bad and actually causes more issues than it solves ((I think they are living in a bit of a fairy tale, and thinking about the world a little to idealistically when they were planning this.))

  24. Now I want to talk to you guys about the whole story and Pokemon games. Let's look at the sales of a few games that had a bit more focus on story instead of good old gym badge and run...Pokemon Colosseum and Pokemon XD. Those games both sold over a million copies. That's about 10% of what a new gen Pokemon game sells. Now let's look at one of my favorite indie series: Legend of Heroes, Trails of Cold Steel to boot. Combining the PS3 plus the PSV, it's roughly half a million, which is considered really good. So yeah, those side games were still selling really well, especially given it was during the Gamecube era. What? You still don't think that's enough evidence to merit this. Super Mystery Dungeon and Gates both sold just in the millions as well so if you're going to make spin-offs, you can't say there's not enough demand to an Orre type game. The data shows that people are really looking for a story deep Pokemon game and it'd definitely could be very profitable. You can even see each Gen (bar Gen VI) actually improves storywise and the writing is getting better. Gen VI also finally broke the "nobody dies in Pokemon" trope so there's not much holding them back. All of what I just said has reason behind it. Most of the fan-games are getting popular is due to having a decent or really good storyline (due to Pokemon having such a weekly sowed plot) so time and time again I just wish for a console game especially given how even more shallow the single player experience is becoming. Gen IV, V, and VI brought so many good things to bring a challenge into the Pokemon series and now they can do so much more than back then especially in the graphics department (since XD was the only good looking 3d adventure game for Pokemon back then). So instead of saying I want GF to do something fan-games do, I want them to make a game to blow them out of the water which they have the resources to do so. Hire a studio to do an RPG adventure that reaches probably the +60 (I suppose 40+ would also work) hour mark that uses the 20 years worth of mons you built along with some really, really good story writing. Even if it was a profit loss, which it wouldn't be, that would put more pressure on fan-game makers to make a game like yours instead of fans wanting you to make games like theirs (which in return reduces the amount of fans making games). The rest I don't care either way as there's an unlimited amount of options.
