  1. I actually though the field effect was going to be the scrapyard for Titania mixing the desert with similar effects of the new Fairy Tale field. Everything else in my predictions was more or less spot on helping cover for that glaring weakness in Steel so I'm not too worried about her difficulty. As for team prediction, a few people already guessed all members of my roster for her, but nobody has the exact team.

    No BS

The only thing I'd argue is that AI is not as good as the official games, but honestly the margin of difference is so little there's really no point of trying to do it through hacking anymore in which I predict hacks will become obsolete. Hacks used to be way better due to essentials being so lacking and no animations, but the fangames have come very far now. It's actually because I did a little bit of hacking prior that I was very reluctant to touch any of Reborn's coding stuff for Hardcore hence the whole Oshawott situation. RPGmaker is a lot more friendly due to the sole fact you don't have to type everything in for every event. This allows for a lot more freedom in event creating and far more possibilities than characters simply standing there and talking. Graphics on the other hand...you had to literally find, extract, then embed, then put back into the game vs delete old image and put in the new one. What I really like about essentials over hacking as well is the fact that you can do a lot of the teams through txt files. Hacking you used a program where you could make trainers pretty quickly though you were a little bit limited in selection (aka no EV spreads). The hacking methods are way better than the essentials editor program in this perspective hence how the Fire Red Omega and such games were very easy and quick to make (mapping was also simple and user friendly, but RPGmaker mapping is overall better by a landslide). Both have their ups and downs. Of course it's been a LONG time since I've done any hacking so the programs used could've changed or been updated to work a lot better. Fan-games are definitely still a lot more work compared to a hack where everything is pretty much wrapped up in a nice package to work with, but yeah they have way more resources to work with and aren't constrained. As for the term BS, Reborn does have a couple of them, but they are generally within reason for difficulty purposes and still keep true to the Pokemon stats. Reborn's core design is what makes it so difficult though.
  3. I seriously have no idea how you hit those flare blitz's hit considering there's like a 30-45% chance of that happening in the hail let alone earth power didn't crit. But as a fun fact Serra is the first leader to use a perfect mon which is her Frolass using a 252/252/4 split which this continues to only applies to one Pokemon until Charlotte. I think the CoM is really the only thing that could handle your team just due to my intentional design. While it crushes me a little bit seeing some of these guys get destroyed after sometimes spending up to 20 or so hours on some fights (higher difficulty requires quite a bit of time for precision), I didn't design the game for perfect or near perfect mons and instead used strategy. On a different note, it's so weird seeing the opponent heal after running no item, set mode. I don't think anything will give you too much trouble up ahead since your team is really good, but I'll let you be the judge of that.
  4. I know I kind of created it, but I kind of wish more Pokemon fan games used the no item run feature. Loving this thing after testing it.

I mean half the time in games like reborn, you either have shit/no good items (even then half decent ones are hard to locate) so I think we were doing no item runs anyways.

Unless your talking about no items used on pokemon run, in which case, damn.

  5. I actually encourage people to make new topics instead of letting it die like usual and in fact go for it. We just wanted it dead IN THIS TOPIC due to breaking the off-topic rule hard. @baldr: Julia more or less confirmed her gym field is not the Desert and its highly unlikely it'll be the factory field since both Sigmund and Shade use that field. I mean I predicted this thing I'm thinking of would be a field effect since like episode 13.
  6. I picked this name as I thought it was unpunnable. Oh how wrong I was.

It was a Command-able thought, though.

  7. I haven't decided yet but what I'll likely do is make it available again for E16 in new Opal Ward for this who have completed files. I could also make it available any time, but it'd look a little bit awkward since it is designed for new saves. We'll just have to wait and see. If you are doing a party member run, you'd want a seperate save anyways. Let me just give you a summary of the version differences as some contained content of previous versions anyways. Don't worry as E16 I plan on only making one single release since many of these things were E16 prep in the first place to speed up development time. We'll also hopefully have a new thread (I've been putting that one off for a while since it's like 1,000 or so words and I want it to look way more professional than this catastrophe) anyways here we go: Version 1.0: All initial bosses (no extra bosses were added) Version 2.0: Complete revamp of game and contains all leader revisions Version 2.3: Same as 2.0, but with the TM shop and extra mon events CoM 1.0: Same as 2.3 but with alternate gym fights and the added CoM post-game. The version also uses a separate game folder. CoM 1.51: Added features such as level limiter along with the Corey Mon sidequest. While it doesn't look like much, I've been mostly glitch and graphic fixing which is sadly the bulk of my work. 80% of the time I just sit at a screen yelling at the computer why a fight isn't working properly. 1.5 of CoM is pretty much where all the non battle stuff is added.
  8. @Zane, that argument for not needing the library is actually kind of ludicrous when you think about. There's is both a text doc in the game itself as well as the field effect guides on the site so...we should totally get rid of them since nobody no longer uses them. Sarcasm aside, I probably use a mix of both the site as well as text file to decide teams and team designing since well there's a lot of information that I flip between and bulbapedia. I'd actually more than likely argue the ability to look up field effects mid battle is redundant and merely caters to no offense, the lesser skilled and newer players than of actual use. As for the field effect distribution, I feel it's the exact opposite in a way. We hardly even make use of field effects outside of boss battles, but really only the leaders make full use out of them (ie Taka only has Tangrowth for field use). Ame gives you details on the leader and the field ahead of time and then you get to see a field showcased on what it can do. Bosses generally have skills or abilities the player has not seen so it shouldn't be that much of a surprise. I mean look at the crystal field and how it's really only been showcased on a really easy battle (well and that other battle).
  9. I just want to say this once that due to this being a "blog" about EP16's development, there are going to be quite a number of people visiting this page. Not everyone is vocal so if one person is getting uncomfortable with a topic, there are likely others who aren't voicing themselves feel the same way. That's merely all I'll say on the matter. I have a feeling that this new field effect is going to correlate to the Desert. Titania doesn't really have a field effect that suits her and I predict the other field will be for Lin. We know Lin is a dragon mono wielder so both her and Saphira sharing the same field would make them a bit too much alike. Though Cal and Charlotte share the same field, but Charlotte does focus on making it a burning field. The rest of the Leader/Mono users are pretty easy to figure out what that field is. As for Adrienn's field, Ame may or may not have said something in E15's development which was kind of interesting to note. I don't know if Ame remained true to that, but we'll just have to wait and see.
  10. The confusion like stems from the lack of context with the field affect. Muddy Water and surf pick up electricity making them Water/Electric. Many field effects do this, but just remember that Hardcore uses the same base engine so 9/10 times it's going to relate to Reborn and not just Hardcore. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Just a heads up for contestants that I recieved all the entries and jotted them down in a doc. We're still a ways away, but I'm always glad to see what creative things people can come up with. So in other news, I began playing Pokemon Reborn: Fernquest edition to test out the difficulty balance of this addition. Surprisingly with Set and No-item it's really difficult. So difficult due to a certain someone Corey that it created some additional bonus content to look forward to. Believe me I'm having both a blast and pulling my hair out doing these tests (and we also added more experience for Episode 1 so yay!) Anyways here's the annoucement y'all want: You might have noticed in a certain status update (if anyone reads those anymore) that I posted something about Fern's team using a Pokemon Fern's never had on any of his normal teams...this is what's called a bonus or hidden mon. All character will have 2 hidden mons which can only be found by playing as that character. This is also to make up for not doing altered dialogue (there will be some for these, but I'm not redoing 1,000 lines of text per episode until the final release). Unlike a certain Haunter the we all can't seem to find (I'm changing the requirements for him so it's not missable), these won't be so obscure compared to that. You do have to go out and look for some though since I don't hand them to you on a silver platter.
  11. Alright, who killed Dorcas?

dorcas hit my dorcas while dorcas was in the bushes even though my dorcas's dorcas would normally best dorcas's dorcas

  12. https://gyazo.com/2d3c95042984e446d496eff412460709 Goddamn this fight is hard with Fern. You need so much prep for it.
  13. Oh yeah MD stands for Mystery Dungeon (the one I'm referring to is the explorer games). Something people tend to forget about in the old games is that NPCs had storylines going throughout the game. One such storyline was rescue team consisting of a Swellow, Wurmple, and I forget the third. The Wurmple you hear early on that he's afraid the Swellow is going to eat him since well he's a Worm more or less. Eventually the two confront each other and the Swellow says not to worry because he'd never think of eating a friend and/or comrade. Here's the thing about all that stuff: Nintendo kidifies all of these concepts such as breeding due to their young audience. So on the surface and for the most part People nor Pokemon eat Pokemon. It's when you dig deeper you start learning about the darker parts of Pokemon hidden from children. There are many mysteries to Pokemon that we will never be able to confirm or deny by design.
  14. MD kind of confirmed the Wurmple Swallow thing so...it actually does happen and many entries prove of this. Like way too many to discredit.
  15. I mean Nick was being nice we've also done much worse Beat up a traumatized little girl Beat Up a Dying lady Stole a TV Did the exact opposite of what the Kricketot lady asked us to Killed plenty of innocent Pokemon Became an underground drug dealer Put pokemon through "Therapy" Allowed Cain to travel alone Read a person's diary Told the one person not to tell what was in said diary Let a whole bunch of kids be kidnapped for 2 Episodes Lost both key fragments Saphira told us to keep (tbh, we probably should've switched jobs) Let another one of the kids get captured (I could say Victoria too...but she's an exception) Pushed Fern to the dark side Crushed a man's dream of cleansing Reborn...for now
  16. Probably Cradbury, but that's a wolf in Sheep's skin.

  18. Alright, I did an update for Hardcore as well as announce the create-a-team contest I'm doing for the mod.

  19. I looked into the Venipede Error, but it seems to have been evented correctly. Either all of them or none of them should have shown up after beating the Drifloon to save the kid (the event itself is unlocked after Shade takes Corey's body). Since people have done the event it indeed works correctly. In other news CoM Altered Path is making quite a bit of progress. All the big fights are done and completed however, there's still quite a bit of eventing left which will start when E16 has the official release however everything I can get done now is done. How the altered path will work is that each leader is replaced with an unofficial leader such as Fern replacing Florinia, Sigmund replacing Julia etc. You can also choose between a few fights if there were 3 leaders of said type such as Poison and Fighting. Just note that the type order will remain the same as CoM. Like CoM this will be updated each episode as we fight certain characters. I also want to mention this now, but after we reach and defeat the champion in the main story, another mode called XCoM will be unlocked. XCoM follows the rules of the X-league where there are no restrictions on any of the bosses meaning they can use any Pokemon of their type. The player will have to defeat CoM or CoM Altered Path to unlock this mode. Only one leader of each type will appear in this mode so I'd kind of like it if people slowly vote or suggest who to bring. Every Reborn leader is allowed including Corey and Kiki and they will use their respective field effect they used in the CoM. I'll make a poll before that comes up, that won't be likely for a year (or two). Something else I have which is going to be going on for a long while is a little contest of mine. Back in the old times, we had a create-a-team thread which I shut down due to the amount of work (let alone I didn't approve of it) consuming my time. Now I have six fights that I'm not really sure what to do with. So I'm just gonna throw a contest to allow Rebornians to create them. This contest will last from today until two weeks after the community release of Reborn E16. Basically to enter all you need to do is PM me a team of six following this template: These are also the restrictions: If you want to participate, all you have to do is send a PM to me. Just note I'm looking more for creative or interesting sets instead of pure difficulty. So if you throw a team of Dragonite, Garchomp, Salamence, T-tar, Heatran, Metagross, Gyarados you probably won't be picked as I'm more likely to pick someone who uses a lesser used or overlooked Pokemon designed very well or used in a creative way. Anyone is able to enter, but please don't post your app here. I'm highly likely to lose it.
  20. Nidoqueen replaced Nidorina (iirc you can get it before a certain event) however the thing below might be what you're looking for. I'll just say that the Drifloon got pushed back until after you visit Corey's body which activates the event. I did that so it'd be easier to do the Corey event. The Venipede is a glitch and should not be there though.
  21. This is something that fans of RPGs and fans of Pokemon are really split. An RPG gamer would say Reborn is only about average difficulty in terms of RPGs (it's definitely not as difficulty as people hype it up to be...even in the olden days), but the story is up there as pretty good. When comparing to Pokemon which has no standards, this looks pehnomenal because many Poke fans haven't experienced story or gameplay from Pokemon games through normal means. Insurgence's story isn't terrible, but it has terrible execution and relies heavily on cliches making people divided what to say on it. This should not be surprising given Zeta and Omnicron and what they were like. Just picture those but with way better gameplay and a better story. It's definitely one of the better Pokemon fan-games, but due to the lack of field effects the difficulty is rather limited (then again I have made difficult fights with no field effects). I'd say give it a shot if you don't mind overlooking a faulty story since well...the amount of features is unmatched.
  22. Y'know, I haven't had to do mapping in like forever https://gyazo.com/3ca10544a05b6d70ae5bea934d362103

  23. Croagunk is located in Citrine Mountain and Skuntank is located in Ametrine Mountain. Why do you ask? I know what you're really asking however you'll have to ask someone other than me to find what you're looking for.
