Pokemon Reborn Hardcore [Mod][Discontinued]
Commander replied to Commander's topic in The Mod Market
For the TM shop, it's not exactly hidden, but it's not in the most obvious of spots either. While it is available after Corey, you probably won't notice it until after defeating Shelly. I'm sure other people could tell you where it is, but all I'll tell you is that you fight all three rivals there once and once only. After defeating Ciel, there will be a NPC in the Computer area who will allow you to turn on or off features since I dun goofed but that will be the only time to do so. I haven't fully decided if level limiter will be allowed to be turned on or off since well, I might just permanently replace it with the old method (hence the trainer card adjustments). People who don't like this change could just swap to the non-CoM version at any time and enjoy the experience almost the same. Because honestly the people who are gonna be upset with this change probably never even tried the level limiter. So basically the Menu screen will only be asking if you want to do a no-item run or an insanity mode run (both you can turn off at any time, but never back on). Everything else will still be there but it's gonna be a bit different (except the forest which I'll include as a seperate DL due to lag reasons if people really want it). ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Okay here's kind of a serious question: For those of you who made it pretty far into the mod, y'all should be aware of a certain cameo boss (which there are a couple more of in the CoM). Please refrain from spoiling that one from new players, but I'm kind of curious if you guys want him to be rebattable in the post game since I did not plan on doing so mostly because it was just merely and easter egg. I'm also kind of curious if you guys want to see these guys battable both in the Post-game or as a cameo fight in the main story (I'm going to use code names to avoid spoilers as possible): The names above can all be fought in the current release, but that's pretty much going to be it (you will fight one of them one more time though). I'm not talking about E16, but more like the rest of the game kind of deal. Edit: Guys I added a "patch" for the Ciel fight glitch so you don't have to redownload everything again. -
I know Ikaru is one of the alpha testers (probably Inuki as well), but I can't think of too many. Generally that part of testing is focused on making sure the game is playable. It's generally very closed off as the game could cause major crashes and such. After the initial testing there is done, it's passed onto the beta testers which is way, way bigger of a number in order to stop many of the minor errors and sometimes major missed glitches, but that's not the only thing they do. We also give oppinions and thoughts on the game's fights such as when Ame asked us if the Maison fight was too hard due to the design. Both of these periods last at least a week each but if I remember right episode 14 took two weeks before it came out (I wasn't actually an ace then...so hard to remember).

fangame Verdant Tales: Symphonic Horizon
Commander replied to Dylanrockin's topic in Fan-game Exposé
I'll be honest with you here before giving you my answer: you know the name Pokemon Reborn Hardcore. I absolutely hated the Hardcore name since like the start and I still don't really care for it as time went on. So if I don't like it, why don't I change it? It's because it's not so easy and that it's just a title. In fact, I'd rather the name be called Veteran's mod as it was better suited, but parts of the mod had already been distributed and that's what the mod was known by before I took control of it. Changing it would've caused confusion when in reality, it's just a title. Sure it'd be nice to have a perfect name representing what you do, but it really is just a tag. If you want to go out of your way to change it, I'd say go for it if you don't mind doing all that work but that's a your decision not a fan's one since they'd be okay with either. Removing the Symphonic Horizon though might signal though that this can be treated as a standalone game and not connected to anything. My personal opinnion is to keep the Symphonic Horizon part as in like a really tiny amount of text at the top of the screen, and make the bigger part of the title Verdant Tales. Basically people would be calling it that anyways and you'd simply just need to change the logo and get most of what you want from it. Edit: Whoops I misread it as you were trying to change the prequel title. In all honesty once you announced the game publically, you passed the point of return to change it. In all honesty Symphonic Horizon has a really nice ring to it which is what caught my attention in the first place. -
[CoM completed] The full Eeveelution Adventures in Reborn Hardcore
Commander replied to Shinyrio's topic in Team Showcase
You know what's funny, the gym leader rankings are so over the charts with Reborn as some people find Julia hard while others such as myself find her to be one of the easiest. I know Serra is the lowest ranked gym leader right below Ciel (who actually rose up in ranks a little bit), but the top 3 I believe are Radomus, Shelly, and Corey (Mist Field) not in any particular order. Anyways, I'm gonna warn you now that it might be better to play Hardcore 2.3 from here on out instead of CoM 1.51 because of one fight before Terra might be different depending on which fight you ended with when facing Radomus (if it was doubles then there's no problem here). The bigger issue is the Ciel loop due to a glitch that I decided not to fix and upload since well...E16 is like right within reach so I've been prepping for that for the past few weeks. I will be uploading a map fix soon though if you want to wait on that. Maybe Tuesday or Thursday. -
All I see is a case of someone upset about how Reborn isn't like a Pokemon game. Plenty of games have impossible to win bosses, but only a select few even make them winnable. I think it's kind of cool the story changes based on those fights that are meant to be lost. El's Arceus is not too hard to beat in all honesty but it requires...le gasp...strategy. I know one boss I did nerf for Hardcore was the pulse Abra because well that thing hit stupidly hard to the point people required heavy cheese to win over strategy. Although if the best ending requires beating Arceus, I could see it being toned down 5 levels, but that's it. It'd still kick your ass hard, but not as hard so that it's not a LOL spam T-wave to win fight. I remember Mirror Coat Blastoise putting a huge dent in that thing as well as Glare Arbok setting up for my Emolga to give the finishing blow. Those moments were meant to create an impact such as fearing Solaris and his power since he really wasn't even trying and he was destroying you. Same goes to Arceus where El was showing you the power of his god and the strength it's given him. It's to bring impact to the story. Because believe me that data wise, that Arceus is a quarter of what the real Arceus is capable of. And also, since when has Reborn been about fairness. The second gym leader has a goddamn Cradily. Just to make you feel sorry for being mad that this boss is "too hard", I created the mod adjusting all the bosses to a higher level difficulty except for one single boss: the Arceus you were talking about. It's actually proclaimed as way too easy and one, if not, the weakest boss in the entire mod and I get criticized for it quite a bit. Because believe me, we have a section of the fan base claiming it is way too easy after the initial nerf due to the new field. And besides, there's nothing wrong with wimping out on a super tough fight. I've done it before due to my team construction.

Request-A-Mon Thread! (Pokemon Reborn Savefiles Only)
Commander replied to Simon's topic in Team Showcase
We do not mod any save file other than new games and especially in regards to a Pokemon that cannot be obtained through normal means as this violates every rule we have set in regards to save file modding. If you wish for a Pokemon to be added, it must be a save file from obtaining your starter to right after the rival fight (the latter is preferable). I just gave you six straight up unedited Eevee along with the stones so you can run a full team. If you're not happy with 'em you should be able to breed to your hearts content after Florinia. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- @Procrastination, normally I don't like doing this but since you ain't picky, I kind of dig that. I'll throw in a probopass and if you don't like it, don't use it -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- @OldSolja: I don't really do Pseudos so sorry, but you'll have to wait for somebody else.- 1020 replies

I mean if you guys really want a mod of an actual Reborn Ball I can make it, but I'd need the following things: -Permission to post said thing in this thread -What kind of stats you want this thing to do -[insert Lewd joke here] PNG pictures of the Reborn Ball Though I probably won't do it to hardcore since there's a good few thousand lines of code I have to deal with already (I do have high standards for adding extra work onto me). Though it'd kind of is not practical as you'd have to completely redownload the entire game just for it to say Reborn Ball on something (who said item customization was easy?). Eh just bother me if y'all figure out what you want to do such as being a reg Poke ball or a master ball for shiny Pokemon only or something along those lines. While a neat idea, not worth...well you could always just edit the map and redistribute it that way. Interesting concept. Very interesting, but iirc it does require a pbs file (current one not needed) to get running.

The first line of any section is called a class which nobody but coders and game makers really care about. Judging from the way it's written, these values alone mean absolutely nothing so there's likely a bit more code below regardless. Does this list mean all the characters listed are safe though? Honestly, you'd have to be kidding with yourself as someone could still die and their relationship value be used in the post game. A character not listed also does not confirm they are going to die in the story either. Though talking about those relationship points, I'm probably in the minority who'd rather that it not be a thing. If anything is unlocked or blocked by choices, that limits the amount you can explore to these characters which I feel all of them you should be allowed to even if you make a wrong choice. What if you wanted to learn more about El, but that would require not obtaining the best ending. In fact the villains are the most interesting characters in the game imo. But getting the high points on them may cause your favorite character to hate you and maybe your second favorite character's backstory gets locked out. Most of this is coming from the huge 40+ character cast.

I'm probably more worried the fact that you're so openly announcing these kinds of things compared to most people who'd do all they can to try and hide it. It's almost as if you're diverting us from the storm above our heads. Has Meteor been pushed back into a corner or have we pushed them too far? The key lies within the heart...perhaps literally. Edit: Careful what you say mate. Name's Commander, I make Reborn harder using Ame's system and improving them. Believe me if the Reborn team wanted to kick your ass they could in a heartbeat. But that's boring. The best method of torture is keeping the goal just out of reach to maximize agony.

Totally didn't think this was a topic about a different kind a ball and who would dance with who. I am mildly disappointed. While I don't think it's much of an issue, it's generally best to ask the creator permission before uploading/distributing something to people. Considering the things I do give hell to the Reborn team, I don't she would've said no to this issue. Reborn isn't in the open mod stage yet, but graphical stuff should be fine. It's nearly harmless and doesn't effect all that much. It's a good start, but the depth perception could use a bit of work. Generally you'd want the borders to be a lighter color for a better texture feel and one glaring issue that I can't stop looking at is how the blue stripe is placed and just...bends awkwardly for the icon ball in the menu screen. Can't really help too much since my eyesight has an issue with depth perception (which is why it's hard for me to sprite) but it's a good start.

Pokemon Reborn Hardcore [Mod][Discontinued]
Commander replied to Commander's topic in The Mod Market
@Darv: That is one of the cameo bosses for CoM as I decided to replace one of the chambers due to not meeting my expectations. Most of the post game will be CoM due to Reborn's likely very large Post-game as this is designed to compliment that. Half the reason that cameo fight was even there was to make up for the infamous Terra fail and make use of the glitch field in the areas Terra couldn't. So while thinking about the whole level cap thing I decided to make this designed around the level limiter however I won't be able to include two of the level caps for the earlier episodes but anyways take a look at the slightly updated trainer card to see what you guys think. I'll just add boxes for each leader added into the game until all the boxes are filled. -
I forgot how golden some of Episode XII's dialogue was. This is kind of a blast from the past with Reborn

Steel and Sociopathy: When "Strong Female Character" Goes Wrong
Commander replied to Lord Chespin's topic in Reborn City
I'm trying to figure out what to add, but I don't really have much. I know from doing all this modding I've had to look at Reborn scenes many, many times and I can certainly tell you that you probably missed quite a bit about certain characters. For those of you saying Titania might have a disorder, I did find this little bit of dialogue to support that. The context is that Hardy wanted to get out of that house ASAP- 24 replies

[CoM completed] The full Eeveelution Adventures in Reborn Hardcore
Commander replied to Shinyrio's topic in Team Showcase
Yeah, yeah I forgot to do some text edits. The reason Noel was a double (he still has his singles) is due to a mode called Nostalgia mode (which Cain also has a Nostalgia Mode fight) since that was intended to be a full on mode, I through in a couple bonus fights though I made them all toggable just because...and the gym guy for Noel can be seen just in the upper right corner. This will be fixed for the E16 release as Nostalgia mode will be axed and replaced with the alternate gym fights only like you're showing. Needs a little programming but it'll stop this confusion (though some fights such as Cain's swamp are gonna be removed). -
Would you like to play a Pokemon Game that....
Commander replied to Fulano's topic in Fan-game Exposé
Why punish people who don't do what the majority does? In Pokemon in general people always keep their first Pokemon on hand so making all that coding unless said Pokemon influenced the story heavily seems not worth the effort. I mean even for Hardcore's Party system I pretty much kept the aces of all the characters since well...they are some their better options. Forcing something without good reason generally shows incompetence in the creator's ability. I do think we'd need a bit more context than this as to why someone would be interested in a game including this. Features are nice and they help smooth the gameplay or improve it a little bit, but features are just a small piece of what people look for in games. -
Steel and Sociopathy: When "Strong Female Character" Goes Wrong
Commander replied to Lord Chespin's topic in Reborn City
"Oh boo ho! You're crying over the fact I killed a few innocent people. Try all you want, but in the end, they're no different then the insects you've swatted and killed. Only living a life just to irritate you until you put an end to them. I doubt you even knew their names. Besides if you truly valued their lives, you would've tried stopping me and even died for them. So who's really the monster here: me or the person who does nothing to stop me simply because their life is more important to them?" Oh Typhoon, he's a character I made who for once summarizes what I'm going to talk about here. Titania is a really well made character, so why do so many people hate her? I doubt it was Ame's/the writer's intention of making her that disliked to the point she's like the least liked character overall, especially after some of the best execution in plot for Episode 15. So why then do so many people hate this part of the game and call Reborn very edgy. It's the quote above that's the main problem with all of this. I know the main protagonist is the biggest point of the flaw, however, too little characters stand up to the injustice. I can name a few such as Cal's struggle which really showed how a different side to him. What about Aster to Sirius when he witnessed his partner being killed. He didn't really reflect anything towards Sirius. Taka watched as his father murdered someone yet that didn't show any affect on him. Heather did for her father but she was very absent which is actually in character. Saphira murdering a whole bunch of people didn't even have anyone really react (it pretty much focused on somebody being taken). You'd think Meteor Grunts would be able to give us a bit more insight on these instead of being simple roadblocks. Anyways now let's get back to why Titania's actions are so good. She spent her entire life suffering and living a lie because she cared that deeply about someone who was suicidal and hurting. Now imagine living with the thought that person could be dead now because of what you've done. All Titania cared about now was saving Amaria and would be willing to do anything and would not stop. I doubt she cared what she had to do so long as Amaria was safe and likely why she eventually left for the desert. To keep Amaria safe. Only the player knows the full story...which is a problem because the player can't talk nor do they challenge Tania's immorale behavior or call it out. Titania isn't a brutal killer and something like that would've reflected it better. That's the thing about those generic NPCs: there's a high chance that nothing will come of Titania because of it. Only a handful of people witnessed it and other than the player, the witnesses are part of a genocide extremist group. And Taka saying the she shouldn't be killing weak people is a very weak challenge since well look at the above quote again. He let his father murder someone without question. Someone on Titania's side would have had to say something which would've helped in making her a little bit more likeable because believe me, she ain't in the wrong killing those guys when you think of the bigger picture. Those who are not willing to do what Titania does have a good chance of getting killed when facing the likes of Meteor.- 24 replies

Pokemon Reborn Hardcore [Mod][Discontinued]
Commander replied to Commander's topic in The Mod Market
I'll add this to the faq but here's the level cap for each of the gym leader. I'm currently fixing it right now so it works right after defeating a gym leader instead of really early in the next episode. That reminds me, I need to redo the trainer card for E16 again but thankfully I learned how to sprite since then. I might consider putting the level limiter caps on the trainer card if people would rather have that over trauncy (it's either one or the other here though). Honestly I know I went over the top on some fights due to how tense some of the arguments with both the field effects "ruining the game" and the difficulty being lackluster due to that, the nerfings, and the AI. This project was my way to shut those people up with cold hard evidence. The amount of support made me take it a bit more seriously afterwards though. As for the cameo boss, that's a one time deal only so you're locked out of it. Don't worry, that won't be the last time you'll be seeing him. It might be even sooner than you think. I don't know how E16's AI will work as the formula now might function differently later. It certainly could be done, but maybe not in the way you'd like it to. Electric types have no weakness on Water Surface so maybe. I've seen the AI make both clever and derpy switches so it's best not to come up with a team that relies on that. It's not a bad concept to start with though. -
Since Titania is going to have Flash Cannon as a TM and Ame does like said leaders to use TM, I'm definitely sure she has an Empoleon now. Air Balloon Empoleon FTW! My biggest fear for Titania was fire types to begin with so with that out of the way mostly, she might end up being kind of tricky. Magnezone doesn't seem very Tania like but still possible along with quite a variety. I wouldn't rule out Klinklang as I even gave one of the strongest trainer in my mod one for a fight. @Bessi: I understand what you're saying, but there's quite a bit that has to go into fighting. Titania is going to be one that's very unique as most Steel type leaders fall into a trap she can escape with the field. Though I don't see where the complaints are as both Reborn and Hardcore use many mons who are not OU and bar one boss (Solaris) they even sometimes use unique strategies such as Aya's poison wall lead. Only Pokemon I felt used way too much was Scizor since Solaris, Fern, Bennet, and Titania use it (Shelly technically had a Scyther at one point). I cut it down to two for Hardcore making Solaris's a hard hitting pivitor and Fern's a dodge tank (only used in on battle though). Yeah it sucks that some Pokemon are going to repeat however, but making a fight fun, challenging, and unique takes a lot to do.

Pokemon Reborn Hardcore Reborn City...a place where the best of the best gather and fight through a brutal gauntlet while fending off Team Meteor and their dastardly ways. Many have overcame the trails that have awaited them, while others perished before seeing the end. There are also those not satisfied and wish for an even greater challenge. That is where I come in. One man has attempted to make a brutally hard Pokemon game even harder. Did he succeed? Play the game and find out yourself. (*cough*) Okay, okay I'll stop with the cheesy intro now. Welcome to Reborn Hardcore, a mod designed specifically around the pre-field effect game's difficulty level mixed with the field effect system to bring a new style of difficulty. The name was originally coined by Solarance, the person who started this project until I took over. While the title is a tiny bit misleading due to the change in style, we decided to keep the name the same since it sticks. Anyways, here's the current download links: CoM E16 Official Release: Mediafire (What's done is done and I've reuploaded the Official release. Soon the unfinished stuff will be uploaded) Known Bug List (Mid-Release) So what's the difference? The first link, or Reborn Hardcore is actually very lightly modded version of Pokemon Reborn only containing changes in opponent's Pokemon Rosters and even runs off of Reborn's save file system. That is the ONLY thing changed so it's very easy to pick up. The second link coined after the post game is a very heavily modded version of Pokemon Reborn containing new features and even text alterations to make the game consistent. There even some post game content called CoM. I'll list all of these below. Features of the CoM Version -Level Limiter: This prevents Pokemon from leveling up after reaching a certain level. It is highly recommended due to the surplus of exp spread through the game to prevent truancy -Item Ban: This prevents both the players and the opponents from using items in battles. Do note the items still work in wild battles and the bag is still accessible outside of battle. (It is currently called no item run but will be changed for E16) -Insanity Mode: Increases the enemy Pokemon level by 30%. This will likely be changed to 10% and opponents will not be giving out money for balance reasons. Cannot be combined with Item Ban. -TM Breeding: Allows for Pokemon to learn TM moves through breeding. It is currently optional as of E15, but in E16 and beyond, it will automatically be included -Alternate Gym fights (originally called nostalgia mode): Some leader will be have an alternate gym battle that you can choose between freely -TM Shop: A TM shop is accessible early in the game in order to gain TMs a little bit earlier. Picking up a TM twice will not crash or break your game so do not worry -Additional Pokemon events and sidequests: Many new Pokemon have been hidden into the game, however I will not reveal their locations so easily. Maybe even all of a dead man's Pokemon can be found bar his strongest. -The Party System (will be released E16): Play as other characters using their teams and see how far you can go with any of them. They may even have mons hidden throughout the lands along with other secrets -The Chamber of Memories: A postgame guantlet similar where you fight through every leader (or last one of the current release) with no items, set mode, and only six Pokemon. There are many surprises but only the best of the best will make it to the end. -CoM Altered Path: This is a mode in CoM where leaders may be swapped out with other mono users. There's rumors of an even more terrifying Champion ruling over this path for players wishing to seek more glory. Screenshots: Known Bug Bin Note: These are bugs with Hardcore itself so I will not be including bugs for the regular version Reporting bugs: While I deem it acceptable here, I do not mind if you pm about it (or email) should you feel a bug is a bit spoilery. However if a bug is with Reborn entirely instead of with Hardcore, I may dismiss it if it demands a bit to fix but I do sometimes fix issues with the Regular version. Reborn's known bug list can be found here. Want to join the Hardcore Team? FAQ Q:Where can I download the latest version of the mod? A: The latest version of Hardcore will now always be located near the top of this post along with a tag announcing it. Q: Where is Pokemon [REDACTED] located? A: As a rule, I don't not believe a creator should tell you where it is intended for players to be able to find them on their own. Users are free to answer this question in the thread. though if you ask hard enough I might give a hint. Q: My save file is stuck. WHAT DO I DO? A: Since Hardcore is a mod of Reborn using the same base, anyone in the unstuck me thread here should be able to help. If there's a glitch in the CoM areas ie the post game, PM me the save file personally and I'll try to fix it. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Announcements: Well other than the beta being released...nothing. Also Important: the Terra alt fight is a little glitchy so I released a hotfix to try and get around it. If you want to fight her, download the file I uploaded and replace this one with the file located in the data folder. If the field effect glitch does happen, please PM your save and I'll fix it asap. The hotfix is located below the dowload link to the game. -And the maison fight has a similar problem so follow the instructions above -And HCHQ has a glitch for new save files. (I do this so you guys don't have to redownload half a gigabyte file every time a major glitch occurs). Also this mod has Amethyst's Seal of Approval
