  1. In terms of the actual league, there was nobody publicly announced to be a backup leader since Adrienn followed through until the end. It is possible Ame had somebody who she was going to pick or use just in case it happened, but not likely. She just added that dialogue in to explain the plothole that ICSW brought up. I highly doubt we're ever going to really meet this person since again, it's not a real character...just a plot tool. The only character who team wise uses Fairy types other than Adrienn would be Ame though she tends to like cute Pokemon so...that's mostly just a coincidence. Sadly there just really isn't that much for Fairies since even the Reborn storyline was being worked on before Fairy was a thing. Like even character wise I can't really name a fairy leader unless you want to say one of the cultists is secretly one since nobody really uses fairies on their teams. Sure they might have one, but...that's not enough to even be considered leader material. And PS Gardevoir was actually the Psychic Gym Leader in Season 1 who shared the spot with Radomus.
  2. So happy new years guys. I don't have much to showcase, but I might show off a few things just to buy the time as I'm happy to announce I'll be going through the first of the three alpha tests. This one pretty much goes from the start of the game up until Kiki to see everything I screwed up on. And trust me, I'm sure there are plenty of those given how I do stuff and that it's 4 in the morning now. Now before anyone asks, let me tell you the difference between alpha and beta testers: Alpha testers are basically people I personally picked. If I need any additional alpha testers, I'll go and ask them so please do not ask to be one. Once all of the alpha sections are checked, I then will have the mod go into the Beta phase in which I'll let anyone join a closed beta (you have to PM me though) to test and change stuff before opening it up to an open beta (which a link will appear in the OP). Once I feel the game is safe, I'll make one final release fixing everything and no more releases will follow. The reason I'm being so thorough on this testing is because there are so many little things that can go wrong.
  3. Okay let me break down what the prophecy means:

Err...I think this project may be a bit too much to do for one person as it literally does require formatting huge sections of the script (to the point that it may be easier to look at the entire thing and make changes where the code is used), but that's moreso on the functional standpoint which I suppose is possible. The second front is stopping all of the inevitable lag that will occur from adding in an additional two Pokemon as well as the ability to shift a Pokemon/auto center them due to how moves need to be redefined. The final thing is the recreation of graphics and the UI interface (or moving the images around if possible) as the current on essential runs off of won't work due to not enough space. From my basic knowledge, it is very possible but probably a few months worth of work at the very least (and I mean dedicating a large chunk of work each day). I doubt you will be capable of juggling that along with school and the couple of fan-game projects you are a part of just due to the sheer amount of coding (as every single Pokemon move will need recodded even). You also likely will want to do this on Essentials V16 or whatever the most current/stable version there is due to how Reborn is near completion. Even from my stance with Hardcore, something like this won't be of use to me unless it's fully functional before E17's release (or very close to that release date). It's merely add a layer forcing me to redo large chunks of the mod to the point it's not worth fighting to get it work when the game is reaching its final stretch. Maybe if the design and coding was solidly built I'd work with it and spend a few weeks customizing it to my needs, but that's a really big if. While I think the idea is cool and would probably get a lot of praise if done well, it doesn't really have that much practical use for the effort required. Double battles aren't super common in fan-games other than a few outliers, but triples is kind of obscure in use. That's the biggest reason why nobody has taken on the challenge to make it since I can't really think of anyone who wants to use it (and thinking on it, I don't care for triples). People will use it if it works, but on a very small scale. If that's work taking on this project, be my guest as it'll allow for more unique battle designs. Just know it will be a lot of work.
  5. Since I'm on mobile it'll be hard to type, but first off l, GF pretty much admitted that megas were broken and are trying hard to push away from the concept and countering it with z moves. Secondly, megas merely add a layer of managing difficulty to the point Reborn is barely keeping together and admittedly hardcore has hit a wall. So if either Ame or I push the mega ring back, it's likely just so that we can keep scaling the difficulty until finally going all out.
  6. @Vendetta You want a Drilbur for an ice mono? Secondly, these requests are for new save files, not ones past the first gym leader and such. We put notes regarding this in the op for a reason. Believe me, I've considered completely scrapping the mystery egg for Hardcore as it's original intention has decayed into people wanting it changed due to not getting what they want. If you aren't happy about that, there's a whole forum dedicated to trading and drilbur is obtainable later.

Personally don't care for Dragon monos as it's doing the same exact tactic for every single fight.   8. @DemICE I do not know why the poison error even happens as I can never replicate it after 4 tests. Also for that second pic, I already see ame hasn't fixed those sprites so I'll replace them with my custom ones to fix them in the CoM version though I will upload the pack for download tonight if anyone is bothered by them.

  10. It is hard to explain, but think of it as a tier system where the top one is super common and the bottom one is rare. The exact percentage is then distributed that way.
  11. I figured it was more along the lines of do this section for badge A then do this section for badge B, but it could be done vice versa with a few differences. There are quite a number of things this branched path could be, but I have a feeling it has to do with a Crobat. Just a feeling. This is again, taking it a bit to the extreme here. There is not a jump in difficulty if you're expecting it, but more like the gimmicks of Pokemon will be slightly improved such as Kiki's Fake Out, Unburden, Normal Gem Hitmonlee. Of course my knowledge of Reborn is way, way outdated so I don't know how "bad" the AI is. @Everyone suggesting the restoration projects affect the storyline: First off, that is completely optional. Second off, there'd have to be 4 entirely different sets of dialogue to acknowledge each change in the world. And third, those are areas designed for sidequest events which do not give any info on any character in the main story.

  13. In terms of game development, this often is translated as somewhere between 2 weeks and a month. (I'm kidding and I'm not kidding at the same time). Kind of interested to see what you have in store this time.
  14. Hardcore (E16 version) is done and was done during the Beta Period. I just uploaded it just for the sake of having something for people to play while I work on the version people really, really like. And yes, I'm working on CoM as we speak. If it gets to a certain point, I'll release a version of it with the level limiter though. ----------------------------------------------------------- Now for me to respond to the annoucement Reborn is going for Gen VII early. I'll summarize how I feel about that the same way I felt about when online was announced: I can't say I'm ready for it, but even with all my frustration, I'm really happy it's a thing. It just means I need to test and make sure everything works properly which adds towards development time. I'm not sure I'll make a release before the Gen VII version is done, but if it's like 50% and we're done with alpha and beta testing, I may do a release. This is going to add a lot towards development time and here's why: There are two forms of implementation: there's the kind where you just add all the required data and just sprinkle them in just for variety and then there's taking all of the data and going through the game individually to make sure they fit well and are well used in the battles as well as availability. You can probably guess which one I'm doing. I can't promise every Gen VII Pokemon will be used, but I'll try to give out a variety of Pokemon to make things a little more interesting and feel like Gen VII is a part of Reborn and Reborn Hardcore. I did have a planned event for Type: Null for example. This is going to take quite a bit of time as I will have to go through the game again to get a better feel for leader difficulty with a new, Gen VII styled team. I hope you guys understand if this takes me a lot longer to get released, but trust me, I'm almost positive it will be way more than worth the wait. Edit: I could have sworn it said 16.5, but whelp I guess we're back to a semi normal schedule. Just apply what I said to Episode XVII which was the plan anyways but the Reborn team saved me a lot of work. ----------------------------------------------------------- Oh one other thing, the Hardcore-create-a-team contest will end December 31st. So you have until the end of the year to submit an application/edit it. Since we don't know when I'll be done, this is a good date for me to pick, announce the winners, and then get to work on their prizes. (Also sorry I can't showcase any screenshots, but everything I'm working on is basically spoilerville)
  15. ....So I was expecting the Public release to be the final release and prepping about 20 Gen VII mons along with a whole bunch of coding until I see this and I'm like... Now I gotta play Sun & Moon to understand the new Mons. Let's just say there is a lot of different feelings going on inside of me right now. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm gonna go cry in a corner.

  17. So just a quick update before I go to bed: I posted an update status feed. I'll try to put something there daily to give insight what I'm working on. As for a progress bar...it's complicated. I have a plentiful amount of work, however, I can't measure what I don't know what will get done before the release. Anyways, transferring is going to be a big behemoth to do, but once that's done, that's one monolith out of the way (though there are 2 others of equal size to get done). I'll also give any big news in a post as well as answer questions and such. This is kind of small news but pretty significant: If a Pokemon hits the level limiter cap, they will still gain the respective EVs now. I had a little help from @sardines here so thanks for that. There's a lot more that can be adjusted towards it before I make a free use version of it for people to use (still gotta fix that exp problem), but you probably don't want to deal with my messy coding (which was made for easy transfers ^_^). There's not much else I can reveal which I haven't already though I can tell you what to expect of this episode and to not be surprised when Episode 17 is...lacking. This episode was meant to be very content heavy which actually included everything in the CoM download. You guys just got that section early. Since I shaved off that bulk, I added the party system just to show what you could do with a fan-game so it's more of a showcasing and side thing. You're going to have a lot of options and content to explore as every leader bar Corey, Samson, and Kiki will have an alternate fight. Insanity Mode has been nerfed to be 1.1 times the opponent level, but...you will end up being very poor as no trainers give out money. No Item Run is still a thing. And trying to find every bloody secret Pokemon for all the party members will have you searching around for quite a bit (they aren't hard, but they ain't easy to find either). I know this has been in the works for a long while, but I can't promise a time when it will be done yet (as beta testing is certainly going to need to be a thing). While I can't really tease much about E17 (that one will likely focus more on graphic overhauling and implementing), you will see a tease if you complete the post-E16 sidequest planned for it. If you thought searching for Corey's mons was a lot of walking.... ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 12/16 Edit: Well, I'm chugging along updating the old stuff, but I'd say I got all the important stuff done along with all the 1.51 content done. I'm currently going to go through episode by episode adding all the old and the new stuff in going through the storyline.

  19. Sorry forgot to mention it has to do with the mod hardcore (still working on updating that behemoth as we speak). But on a different note for when Reborn is completed, leaders will be using the X teams they used on the actual league (since these guys are based on a league where people played the roles of these leaders).
  20. Aww...I wish this topic came out next month. Then I could cross it off the list for next year as well. No really, this topic pops up every single year. I will not make any claims in the difficulty though I will say Reborn Hardcore is a thing for a reason. First off, you would've known she uses Prankster Illumise to set up rain dance on the first turn as the gym phone is there with Ame to tell you that and give you advice. And you think this is bad, let's just say I may have designed a harder version of her so hard that it had to be axed. You should probably figure out what is going on with your team and where you're struggling as sometimes it is a trial and error because grinding is a pain (I was always 5-6 levels below the leaders and about 12 for Luna). Shelly's mons are half fast and half decent speed with Wormadam being one of her least threatening. Taking out the threats (Masquerain and Anorith) will reduces the difficulty a little bit as Illumise honestly is like zero threat other than spamming confuse ray. It can't even heal. Leave the not threatening mon/side along and gang up on the other mon as once all the dangerous ones are done, Volbeat is a complete joke. Even with a Tail Glow, it's damage output is sad. Your team is also on the weak side so if it's an issue, you may want to drop and grind up some other mons (maybe even evolve Braxien into Delphox) as Shelly is designed to shoot down Special attackers with Rain making fire types not too viable until after 8 turns.

      It did change, but It changed back to the magnet abomination after a bit. Because the banner being changed in the first place was unintentional.

  22. Eh, that's kind of harder to do vs just making it permanently not shiny. Yeah, you can define almost all traits a Pokemon has, however, that is one really tiny script box so...good luck with that.

Let me put it this way: the online feature weren't intended to come out for Episode 16, but since Marcello worked like crazy getting it to work, it was released during the second half of the beta period as a surprise. I can't exactly say what went on in the background but yeah, this was kind of an unexpected thing to come out. Let's just be happy that this along with E16 is out after that long period of time without it. As for the playerbase, the forums are basically the vocal members of the game (though there is a large number of lurkers) and is certainly not the majority of the playerbase. When the public release is released, Ame does write in the news what the episode contains (as well as in a text document in the file for field effects). I do understand the point of players being able to miss the online features if they never touch the pokegear (I still rarely do). Pokemon Reborn still has a bigger focus on the single player experience so missing out on the online stuff won't be too big of a deal. I'm sure the wonder trades will get a little more hectic during the first month of the public release before shimmering down to being a little bit more than they are now.

(Gotta love the fact that I made a new thread for the purpose of being able to make polls yet when the site updated the polls become broken form me) Okay so I've been doing finals but I took a break to work on some more of the spriting in this game. I decided the party system is going to work differently (I know a lot of people who have old save files are gonna love me for this) so that instead of them just popping into your party after certain events, they'll be found somewhere in the world after certain events (my only hint is that you have to have partnered and battled them once). Just think of it like a Corey event mons extravaganza. As for recruiting, I'm going to turn it into a community project (yes it will technically spoil who you can use but you already know who pretty much anyways) where I'll list the overworld sprites that need to be done. Nobody gets Shelly though. She's all mine. Basically if you want to do a sprite, you'd PM (or here is fine as well) me and I'd put it in the excel sheet what you signed up for. If these all get done before the E16 CoM release, I'll re-open up the custom trainer thread for a brief two week period. Basically you put in an app for a trainer and they will fightable in the game. And that would not be exclusive to people who made sprites (but they'd have priority).
