Scizor is pretty powerful, although Jan could just put in Scyther and not the Metal Coat (sucks to be Onix if that would happen). Also, I believe Torkoal is a Shadow found in Caratos Mountain in V6. Ralts can be found in a part of the Lab in the Swamplands after getting the Key from Tesla when you defeat the Kyogre. Lombre is now only available through an event near Goldenleaf.

I haven't found any Hoothoot at night over at Gearen City either, though I did find one in Terajuma Jungle when I was looking for a Lombre (not knowing he was removed from there).
