  1. I haven't even started on the next stage yet, but I already have been binging the stage song. Probably the best "Fires of Hokkai" remix I've heard, if a bit close to the original
  2. While normal Marijuana might not have proven harmful effects, I think whatever this is might cross that threshold by a mile
  3. FMW stage 66 complete.  VERY short talk this time.

I hesitate to call this a 'cool down' stage exactly, since we were on a strict timer, but there wasn't a boss to face.  Really, it was another "annoy player with buttloads of movement restricting danmaku fields and attach a time limit to the skill point" type stage.   Very good for leveling up lagging characters though.

Really, the highlight of the stage of Patchi's new finisher

Also, the Palanquin Ship learns a new finisher at stage end, completing it's similar moveset to the the Mother Vangard from Crossbone Gundam

  4. Are we in the 90's and early 2000's again?
  5. I'm glad she's good in canon (as a partner).........she really got subjected to Power Creep in FMW after the first game, even for her pure support role. Still not quite the worst unit in the series, but I would put her at #2, just barely above Komachi
  6. To answer your questions backwords: I think Veterans have 30 votes per day (increased from 4 a day, since they aren't worth much after the removal of the site exp system). It's your choice whether to use them usually on a post you like, for every reason: funny content, a statement you approve of, a 'thank you', a good post, ect. A few months ago, we even got all the different types, for more varied reactions. I certainly won't reject them, but you don't have to use them. Even just a few months ago, they had a more concrete purpose. You could get 10 exp each time you accumulate 100 points, though most got exp for being helpful on the site and a mod noticing (before most kind of stopped bothering); usually you got upvotes anyway by being helpful/active, so they extra 10 exp was just a nice bonus. Getting 1000 exp would let a Veteran become an Ace member. As far as I know of, nobody actually got 1000 exp this way, with all the old Ace members essentially buying the status in the old site store back in 2014/2015. So, nowaydays a higher exp number usually just indicates a more active forum users (who may be helpful). I somehow made it to #7 on the forums, answering questions, and trading (or more accurately--getting people Pokemon they wanted).
  7. That's the whole gimmick with shadow pokrmon. They learn moves they otherwise wouldn't when purified......usually at the cost of having 'meh' IV's, but that's besides the point. I thought they mentioned that in-game. Also, how is the gligar battle above 'literally unplayable' if it's taking damage and the battle is commencing??? Essentials sometimes has glitches with sprites and it's an issue I've seen across multiple fangames, some more than others Insurgence. It's just a minor graphical glitch, unless it actually affected the battle.
  8. I find this pic extremely hilarious, far more than I should

I imagine bird-squawking noises coming from Weiss here.  Probably it's because she really resembles Pearl from Steven Universe here.......I'm sure I've seen fanart of her in a similar situation, complete with squawking (since she's a target for all the bird jokes).

  9. Well, against all odds, I fond one more.  It's only about half of this short video, but the laugh is still there

  10. I'm going to post the second opening of 'Memories of Phantasm'/'Phantom Kalidescope' for today's, since I just noticed I never posted one. Same description as yesterday, really.
  11. Congrats! I'm glad Nitori can at least pull through in this game series. Funnily enough, I had about the same reaction finishing the S.A. section in FMW 3 (though that all had to do with the last stage and it's complete bullshit).
  12. This just came out, so not sure if you've seen it yet.   Also not sure how much would be minor spoilers to you, so proceed with some caution.  Currently trying to decide where this ranks with some of the other 'So This is Basically' episodes.

  13. Okku (the nuclear crow) makes enough sense post-transformation, since it's a freaking sun god. Though without it she probably isn't much, with FMW making base-Okku a complete joke boss that only gave 1 exp; her powered-up form though.................. Orin's higher stage number doesn't make sense in this regard.............then again, I really don't think Stage # necessarily equates to (canon story) power level in all cases. *Note, I didn't say difficulty, since that can be variable to the player and there seems to be a theme of subordinates having more difficult fights than their higher ups (from what I've heard anyway)-----> Erin more difficult than Kaguya; Clownpiece more than Junko and Hecatia; Orin/Okku more than Satori.
  14. No problem, vent all you need. That's part of what my FMW status updates are when I post them, especially after annoying stages. Good luck if you decide to try it again. The difficulty sure changes between canon and fan games, since Orin was little more than a pushover both time she appeared as boss---with the first encounter only being somewhat difficulty because half your party was unavailable. Meanwhile Satori (the stage 4 boss of S.A.) was quite difficult because of her incredible dodge rate.
  15. I guess I'll write something about FMW stage 65 now.

A good round of people learning new moves right before the stage starts.  Apparently this is where the Fairies of Light learned their new finisher in the early versions but now it's a few stages earlier.  Just listing/showing them here (borrowed from translation LP):

Also, Mima came back after about 20 stages, with a very appropriate earned PP number of 666 (for an evil vengeful spirit) and a new attack that lays on a bit of edge (about 2:50 in video above).

The main reason I had to restart this stage so many times is because of the group of Makai bugs that charge you first turn.  Unless you head them off with a unit or two, they will reach your main force the second enemy phase and wreak havoc.  The main reason these are a hassle is that their ability nullifies all attacks below 4000 damage.......and it takes a while to reach enough morale to dish out more damage.  Even putting your barrier piercing item on a unit only makes them harder to kill (unless you are on normal where you might reasonably one-shot them---only 3000 HP).   More thorough anaylsis of these bastards, though I hit the high points:

After that I still had to face the main boss, which apparently counts as one of the hardest in FMW....and I agree it's well deserved.  Introducing Touhou's original blade-wielding combat maid, Yumeko:

    Spoiler

    DZiuvN9.png

While Alpha-Sakuya may not have current-Sakuya's time stop ability (translated here as a chance to auto dodge any attack), she does have stacked armor, an huge accuracy buff item, Level 2 of all three of the stat boosting skills, two moves every enemy phase, and a busted Personal skill that lets her Support Attack herself.  That last one is what gives her the 'almost hardest boss' distinction.  Power creep hit Sakuya VERY hard by the third game

-----Most of the game allows your more fragile units to be Support defended by a bulkier unit, but Support Attacks can't be defended this way.......and she has enough power/accuracy to oneshot almost any squishy unit along with a habit to target the same unit with both her turns (which equals 4 attacks per enemy phase).

It's funny that Sakuya essentially has this ability as a personal skill (though it requires her to have a much higher skill stat than the target), but isn't survivable enough to use it over the personal skill that increases her dodge percentage.  They really wanted to show who was the better maid here even though it seems Yumeko doesn't keep that Personal skill as a player unit sadly.

Would really recommend watching the animations for Yumeko's attacks, since they are top notch, along with the 'Doll of Misery' remix.  UNLIMLED MAID WORKS!!

while Sakuya's are basically still the same as they were in the first game from 8 years ago

@Wolfox, since I talked about Sakuya above (I at least want one person to glance through a portion of this).  As a bonus, here is a Hellish(?) version of the bulky fairies that are going to be showing up for the next few missions.  Still adorable even when the acquire an edge

Also, two special conversations the Aki sisters get this chapter (one for their pre-battle dialogue with Yumeko and the other as the new combo attack---with a bonus).  I like this version of the Aki sisters, ok!

  16. No Vanilla, we need to know how much you hate each individual in 'everyone' especially when we can make tsundere jokes about the people you "hate less" I know it was supposed to be a moment to show more of Vanilla's morals/boundaries, but I couldn't stop thinking how cute it was that she somewhat came to Shelly's defense reflexively (in a way) You like Shelly, don't you Vanilla (I'm not meaning in a shippy way---this time):
  17. A shot to the liver is much more effective than I first throught
  18. FINALLY.   Stage 65 complete.  will write something more about it later.   Alpha/Beta-Sakuya does not mess around; had to completely ignore one her spell cards to have a chance at the skill point............ also, another reminder of 'FUCK Makai armored bugs'

For now, here is the remix of 'Alice in Wonderland' from Touhou 5 that I've gotten to listen to throughout this ordeal.  Onward deeper into Makai next stage

  19. Sorry Vanilla but the voice of reason doesn't sugarcoat things in these situations, especially one as logic driven as Florina. She's going to end up hating that Garchomp more than canon Victoria by the end of this.
  20. The first opening of the anime adaption series 'Phantom Kaleidoscope' or 'Memories of Phantasm'. It's quality animation, seen in the fact there are nine episodes released over the years. I haven't seen if each episode has it's own opening. I have to check whether the song is base on an existing Touhou track. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Mn3ONnay9s
