While I did have another one planned for today, I re-found this one and decided to post it before I forgot. A Hina animation where the main focus isn't spinning???? How? Either way, an adorable look into Hina's roll as a misfortune god. Another lighthearted song with cute animations.

Today's video is an unusual one, as it is essentially three videos in one. The two openings and an ending of some Touhou animation collections. While I wanted to post them all separately, this is the only one I could find that had subs in some form (in the annotations in this case---though the Ending is missing them). The two openings have very smooth animations, while the ending is mostly about excellent character portraits. The first is an anime-op style snapshot look at the residents of Gensoukyo, framed by speculative look at the connection between Yukari and Marribel. The second is more of a battle animation of Marisa vs Yuuka with some interspersed shots of other characters. Three is basically one of those anime openings that focuses on showcasing a large cast of characters with limited animation (the closest I can compare is Bleach ed 25). Also to note is that it is in descending release order (12-->6).

SURPRISE! It's Kogasa time. Character song with a catchy beat accompanied by well done (cute) animations from a cute character; what's not to like? Excited Sanae and Reimu just ties it all together.

It looks like the right specs for the first game. Well, I'll still leave links to the 2-4 here for if/when you get to them if the links for 2 and 3 don't work on that site; like most sites, they don't seem to have 4 posted, so you can least use that one. The other thread does include two links for gameplay help, if you need it. The manual should cover the basics the game doesn't explain itself, at least for the first game. Also, if dialogue suggests one character 'talk' to another at the start of a stage, move the relevant character next to the other and a "talk/convince" option should appear. There are two 'talk' opportunities in the first game (one exclusive to Marisa route).

Just to note, FMW 1-3 all have unofficial English patches. If you have trouble installing the official patches for the first two, I'll link a pre-patched version below. Seriously, don't play the first game with just the base version (1.0); there are major glitches, the worst being you can't get ANY items from fallen enemies. Version 1.1.12 works just fine though. I used the download of 1 below and I uploaded 2-4 myself (links in spoiler tag), so I know they should work just fine. Also, do note the first game (Kou/Starlet/E) is a bit rough around the edges. It was made when their group was still fairly new at this (2010), and it shows. The animations I posted are from the final game (May 2017) and their progress shows. I made a thread in the club about the series, if you want links to playlists (OSTs and Attacks) and other things. Thought it was three fighting games, but I probably just assumed. She's also in Double Spoiler as a boss (Stage 8 or 9 I think). That's still a good bit more appearances than most other non-playable characters. As for Cirino, her oversaturation probably is why she's usually not even in the top 30 anymore, even with her recent appearance in TH 16; now's she's mostly just remembered for memes and nostalgia.

Thanks for the suggestions Yeah, her. I just keep forgetting which way to spell her name. Yet, Flan is still #5 in the popularity polls all these years later, despite her only real additional appearance being a manga chapter where she destroyed a meteor. Still a lot of stuff that we don't even know about her situation, even down to whether she was in the basement of her own volition. At least fan-works have filled in the gap. I do have to somewhat agree with others that Flandre is a tad overrated, but I still love her and her story potential. Have to give props to Fantasy Maiden Wars for their rendition of the situation, and the events before Flan becomes a playable character in the third game. If it's like a few of the other games, Zun seems to like making the weaker characters to be the playable ones (with a few obvious exceptions). I didn't ever see that Mystia was playable though. Youmu is definitely a fun character see, with good themes. If you want to see her animations (and hear her theme remixes) from Fantasy Maiden Wars, see below. She has the distinction of being one of the nine characters available in the first game (despite PCB not appearing until the latter half of the second game; still not as early as Keine). If Flan is on the list of overrated characters because of seniority/widespread appearance in fan works/ect, Koishi is definitely overrated because of official appearance overexposure. Seriously, she's been in most of the fighting games and has constantly been fighting Marisa for #2 in the popularity polls (which she sometimes gets). The fairly popular horror series "Koishi's Heart-Throbbing adventures" has also made a large portion of her appearances in fan works be a lot creepier than her canon portrayl, thus increasing/sustaining her high popularity. As much as her backstory is supposed to be tragic somewhat (with a twinge of horror), I honestly never really paid it any mind because no one else does (something else I've recently had to applaud Fantasy Maiden Wars for: giving Koishi's current situation actual emotional depth and making me genuinely like and feel for her and her sister. I would link the recently translated video of the main stage of that, but it's a bit long and it's missing context if you haven't seen/read the S.A. stages of the third and last FMW games. Might as well put this one up while I still have the Three Fairies of Light as my avatar. Cute animation style (complete with full anime-style portraits cut in), lighthearted little love story, and song that fits the mood (and seems to be made for the Three Prankster Fairies).
