"I'm not sure if I need anything special, though some combat training might be good since we're expected to fight. It seems like mine are just muscle enhancements." He flexed and looked at his bicep. It didn't look especially bigger than it did before. "Sort of along the lines of taking what you have and multiplying the effect, maybe. And while I'm thinking about it..." John grabbed one of the metal railings the plastic curtains had been hanging from and broke it into a crude sort of spear, tucking the bed post into his belt for later if needed. "A little distance might help. All right, I'm as ready as I can get to leave this room. What about the rest of you?"

Austin picked up the 'weapon' offered to him, idly testing the weight of it by swinging it slightly and letting the weight of it fall into his offhand. "Alright, well, if I'm the VIP, I guess that means you guys can focus on protecting me. And if my thing is I can see stuff that's important to interact with..." Austin pointed somewhat lamely at the door. "...Then I guess we should probably be headed through there? I guess? It's the only thing that's like... uh... highlighted." The rest of the group had graciously chose not to follow up on the voice's comments about his application, and for that, Austin was grateful. Well, not really grateful, but he would have been if he'd been thinking about it much.

Edward did a final once over before he sat down on the nearest bed and said, "Well, it wouldn't hurt if we waited until everyone else got ready and gotten debriefed about their new powers first, your powers might be simple and straightforward in nature, but I'm pretty sure that Danielle wouldn't mind learning more about how he's supposed to help out as a pony, never mind what some of the others got."

He did some light stretches to keep himself limber for what he presumed would be an extremely physically strenuous mission before he continued with, "And if I may, I'd like to ask about just how long the lung therapy's going to last, wouldn't want to suddenly drop while I'm knee deep in the dead after all."

Helena was about to respond to Paul when the intercom sprang back to life with the Voice of Commander Slate explaining what was going on. Helena was honest;y surprised that people actually signed up without reading the contract fully that was just stupid. Though given how unprepared people seemed not reading contracts was going to be the least of there worries. At least the commander was willing to actually explain some of the abilities the others got.  Now one would think that the explanation of the powers would weird out most anyone but between everyone around and the vague feeling that Helena got about what she could now. So she decided it was best just to go with the flow for now. She looked over at Paul again "Soo....you have any questions for the Commander before someone ends up pulling the intercom off the wall for a weapon?" she asked him doing the best to keep her voice down despite the noise the others were starting to make. She guessed they never watched that many zombie movies since if they did then they should know better then to make so much noise.

Perhaps she was more than a little out of her element here, a tiny goth in the middle of a terrible outbreak they were contracted to deal with. Wait... then she had to be capable of something. lf she was one of the people here she had to have some ability that allowed her to fight. Perhaps hers wasn't nearly as obvious as the others... then again a fair few of them had issues discerning their own. Regardless while the rest scrambled arming themselves perhaps now was the time to discern her ability. Hopefully the Commander was still on the line. "Commander, Orchid Amaranth speaking. Others have requested information on the specifics of their augments. l too would request such information."

Orchid wasn't overly concerned with arming herself as the others given well... there probably wasn't much she could manage to do given her smaller than average frame. She hoped whatever her power was made up for this short coming.

As Poncio posed, he felt his old clothes fall away. Thankfully for everyone else in the room he was covered up by a glow, preventing them from having to see his lifetime achievement award. Next, he could feel cloth flow up over his body, meeting above his shoulders and stopping. Just by feel he could tell it was a leotard, which the others could see is a creamy white. Finally, a fairly comfortable metal corset closes around his torso before blooming into a dress of red and white, as a sheath and sword appears attached at his waist. Finally as the transformation completes, he stands and punches the damnable obstacle of metal and wood! ... Amazingly he doesn't hurt his hand this time although now he's elbow deep in the cheap door.

There's a moment of near silence over the intercom as Commander Slate clearly laughs behind his hands at the actor now being slightly stuck in the door. After a bit of recovery, he finally starts to answer questions. "The wing you're in is the... medical wing. I'm not really sure how you didn't guess that, I mean, the beds and stuff.... I suppose it could be a barracks as well but those were a bit... difficult."

You can almost feel an eyeroll at the next question. "Just keep breathing the way you are."

Paul starts to speak before the commander interrupts him. "That arm of yours comes from some kind of... pocket monster? I have no fucking clue but there's probably something similar on this world, it seems to be fairly constant as a thing. That should allow you to manipulate and absorb water to repair damage, in addition to just hitting things really hard. Hard enough to smash apart rock I'm told."

"As for you miss Orchid... I'm going to be honest I was waiting for you to ask because this is just too funny to me. So, apparently you also have magic... but it's based on puns around emo music, I trust you're familiar with that kind of thing? Basically, just sing a few bars from a song and think hard about what the pun is and it should work."

Eyes pressed shut, Poncio felt the strange sensation as cloth rewove itself over his body, high quality fabric too, he was certain. There was a leotard, that was easily recognizable, but. . . something tight across the chest, he was not certain what that might be. But when the cloth had finished expanding, he thought no more of that. The transformation was successful, and so, he stood and drove his fist once more at the door, eyes still closed.

Instead of the pain of fractured knuckles, Poncio felt the wood splinter almost like balsa under his fist, and something flexible bend out of the way. He laughed, and noticed the weight of a sword hanging at his side. "Ahaha, it worked! I truly have the powers of a legend and--EXCUSE ME!?" He had opened his eyes, and was staring down at his attire, unable to process it. "w-What in the name of. . ."

He stumbled back from the door, bending his arm as he did so, ripping out a chunk of the door set in around his arm. "WHat kind of legendary hero wears a dress!? I'm all for women as heros, mind you, but they don't wear dresses, right?"

In his shock, Poncio felt something release, and the dress and leotard transformed back into his original garb in a puff of smoke. "I-uh. . ." He inhaled slowly, then putting the ham back into his tone, said, "It is not as though the great Poncio has never cross-dressed! I have had roles that required that of me. It was merely a surprise! What kind of legendary hero wears a dress but wields a sword!?" The actor exclaimed, gesticulating wildly with the arm stuck in the piece of door

Upon sighting his companion's transformation; Edward could do nothing but sit and stare for a moment as the changes took full effect, and he took the time to listen to the man's wild exclamations before he himself stated, "...right, well your increased strength should go hand in hand with your hand to hand skills, and if you want my guess? Your heroine took pride in her appearance as well as her skill with the sword; I think she'll suit you just fine.

Edward took a deep breath before he stood up and walked towards the badly abused door, "And it's good that you're used to wearing a dress, with all the ruckus we've been making? You'll be fighting in them soon."

He had a slight smile on his face as he stepped beside the door and quietly said, "But look on the bright side, you're still Poncio the hero, not Poncio the dog armed"

He tried to speak just loudly enough to allow everyone else to hear him as he said, "Now does anyone still have any questions for the commander? Or can we start making tracks now?."

Airi was, for the most part, ready to go. She mentally checked her ammo - she probably knew how many bullets went into a clip of this gun, right? - and stood straight, walking back over to Orchid. "Ready to go, yeah. No use sticking around here right? Orchid, you up to go?" she asked. She was ready, but she was more worried about her friend.

This was crazy. All of this was outright crazy.
Though....The idea of having free reign to loot the place was appealing. Maybe when she managed to ditch these clowns she could sell some of the stuff they had laying around....
Then again...Missions across the multiverse? She could get all sorts of good loot from other places then.

And it would be a good way to figure out what kind of powers she had now. If she just ran off now, she would likely be caught.
Worst comes to worst, shes surrounded by meatshields.

Greed and cold self intrest lead Alice to grin and nod.

As she does, something happens.
The others dont notice. How could they? But oh boy, this was going to be good.
Just thinking of all the things she could do with thi- oh. So she couldent move objects while using this.
Still cool.

"Ready to go"

"l... what?" was about the only response she could possibly have for what she'd just been told. She had magic but it was locked behind the lyrics of emo music? That was such a strange qualifier that Orchid wasn't entirely sure how she'd respond to such a thing. Magic was good at the very least, it explained why she didn't have any noticeable implants or any new body parts like some of the folk here. But she couldn't help but think that was quite a unnecessarily complicated a method of which to exercise her power. Was it put in on purpose, by accident? She couldn't say she was sure what these people would've done purposefully or just accidentally while messing with these people but she supposed now was hardly the time to lament her life choices.

Good points, she was at least familiar with that music scene to some degree. She was quite the creative type... playing with the expectation and meanings of language was a skill she certainly had. After all, being published a few times you'd hope you'd have some understanding of manipulating language.

Bad Point, she was basically a glorified Gothic Lolita idol that covered emo band's songs. Trepidation! At the Trackmeet.

Orchid was shocked out of her thought by Airi speaking to her. She'd... really lost herself in thought there. Perhaps she should be careful about doing that in the future given the situation. "Uh, yes l'm good to go if you all are. Guess l'm a mage. Take good care of me. "

"Yes, well, it certainly could be worse! Thank you for your kind words Eddy, it means a lot." He could pull this off, it would certainly be a memorable appearance that would help with building his legacy. The mysterious swordsman who crossdressed for all battles, yes that would spread like wildfire! Now he merely would have to live up to the stories.

Poncio looked out over the assembled misfits, and grinned. He swept the arm embedded in the wood out, and announced, "If we are agreed, then ONWARD!"

With that he opens the door and steps out.

"I'd follow him. With all the noise you guys have been making I wouldn't be surprised if something mean has heard you guys and is advancing on your position right... now...." Commander Slate chuckles as the intercom clicks off. What a cheery note to end things on.

Stepping out into the hallway, you'd notice that it's noticeably dirtier than the room you were just in. Kind of makes you wonder why that is, was it just pretty clean from the get go and that's why it's not as dirty? Or did they clean it when you were dropped off there? Maybe the teleporter traded the grime and dirt for you guys? In which case that's kind of insulting. Either way, the second thing you would notice is that it's decently warm in the building despite an obvious lack of air conditioning. By feel you'd say that it's fairly Mediterranean wherever you are. Finally, you see a sign. Too the right it says is the Barracks, Medical Labs, Cafeteria, and other various facilities for living or experimentation. To the left is the armory, docks, heliport/airfield, and village. You get the feeling that the weapons cache is to the left, while going right would lead you too the virus.

"Definitely guns first, not that I'm hearing a lot of argument. Just watch your goddamn triggers when we find 'em, I don't feel like picking bullets out of anyone today." Spook proceeded down the corridor, sighing when he realized he was likely going to have to be near the front of the group. Yes, an excellent place for the engineer, that. . . He idly rapped the metal bar he was holding against his palm. He wasn't overly confident in it surviving more than one or two encounters with zombies, but ideally that's all he'd need.

"As long as we avoid the village unless it is absolutely necessary, I think it would be wisest to head left and get ourselves some proper equipment, I'm sure that none of us wants toget in close to handle a super strong zombie when we could have just shot it from across the room," Edward said as he followed behind everyone else, making sure to double check each corner they pass through and being ready to bash the brains out of any infected before they can try to clever girl anyone.

Helena winched as the man Poncioshe thinks that's what the Commander called him or something like that anyway punched his hand through the door. If something didn't know they where there yet they probably did now. She looked over to Paul. "Oh, right never introduced myself. Helena Royal. It looks like we should keep up with everyone. I don't want to end up as zombie food or food for whatever is here." She said as she waved and started following the others.

  • 3 weeks later...

Paul nods at Helena's statement, quickly following behind her.

Walking down the hallway, you see a some doors to your right. If anyone bothered to test them, or if they asked the escort quest, they'd note that the doors are currently firmly locked, and likely wouldn't change this state any time soon. To the left, they'd see some large windows, which at this point are quite dirty and a little bit cracked, fitting given the overall disrepair of the facility. Looking out into the twilight, judging by the sky it was about 7, you'd see a court yard filled with tall grass, fruit trees with the rotten remains of their bounty at their feet, and bushes that may at one point have been tidy and well kept, now out of control. Looking closely one may see four legged outlines running through the bushes. Hopefully you wouldn't have to go out there....

Reaching the end of the hall, you would find that the door is in fact unlocked. With a loud creek it opens up into a large room which seems to be some kind of sorting room for deliveries. There's not much here anymore, it would seem. There's some general mess, furniture strewn about, and a body with a blood trail leading through a door to the right. By the looks of things it's been dead for a while, already decomposing. To the left there's also a door, helpfully labeled as being the way to the dock and armory. You can see bullet holes in that door, indicating that there likely were zombies that way, though who knows if they've been dealt with. You have a feeling that this room has been stripped of anything of use.
