  1. @TheTGU maybe it could be controlled by... PULSE-Human?
  2. I was wondering this too some time ago and beside the fact that majority of people here is surely from the US, we can't say much about this kind of statistics here. I saw mentions of various nations from all around the world on this forums, European, Oceanic, all of it.
  3. @Damien This^, indeed. I think my overall gametime (firemono/2normal E15 runs/restarts_and_miscellaneous/time spent online/breeding) is something above 200h (one would say a lot, the other would say you gotta pump up those numbers) and I couldn't force myself to start again, even with the new stuff. You don't want to feel exhausted with Reborn halfway through your new run, even before you reach actual E17 content, do you. I will probably start from a scratch once the game is complete, but no earlier, so probably in around 5 years.
  4. @Azeria that's taken from forum's theory, nothing confirmed so far. I sense a slight chance of unexpected Celebi popping out somewhere from the backstage, too. (Still, We may craft the theory further, what if each Reborn's reborn provides us with just another iteration of protagonist? Fern was the previous one, Shade or Savage was before him, etc. - the prophecy tells us the previous group of protagonists failed, so Anna made a wish and here were are - what if we are the ultimate, successful hero? Or better, what, if not?)
  5. I'm cool with the game becoming ''naturally'' hard, instead of abusive. There is a difference in fighting a good opponent who can use its tools (field, mons, moves) and in finding a way to beat the opponent who is not particularly intelligent, just has an insanely well prepared setting that favours him in almost every possible way. I guess it will take time to tweak and balance it and I mean the time after release, but well, it is not the last episode, right.
  6. Well, it has its uses (e.g. it works surprisingly well with scientific papers, at last in my language), but when you are up to to create a good translation, localization, it is somehow helpful, but you can't rely on it, especially if you want to make anything look professional - and on a side note, it will be so for a couple of next decades, until the real AI is developed, but it is a whole different story.
  7. Look up the topic linked by seki108 - certainly, it would be better if we waited with translation until the development is over - in order to keep consistency, for instance. Also I think it will be necessary for each translation team to agree upon a few things before doing the job - like, generally character names shouldn't be translated, but what with, let's say, Shade? Also, not in every language mon names are translated, not all attack names are translated, etc. Abomination! xD It is literally the best way to lose climate and uniqueness of every character.
  8. I think this description demands further explanation. Preferably with a video.
  9. @Zander Reborn isn't a pretty place to live in, and nobody would wish to live in there. Visit, beat the league, go through a few adventures - something along the lines of a trip to Chernobyl or Detroit, sure. But live there, find a job, etc.? Hell no. Never stated that. I meant such grim setting would actually be the most popular. Nope, see below. Almost every NPC in the first chapters says how the city is not only polluted, but corrupt to the limits, people are poor and scarred (beggards and thiefs everywhere, young gangsters, people giving away they mons, cos OWNERS cannot protect them), city is neglected and ruined, so I can imagine people are struggling living there - how can you deny that, can't you see it? Only Lapis seems prettier, but it is filled with people full of themselves. You see all of it from the player's perspective, so then I can imagine how regular citizen feels. I can imagine most of the people living there have hard times enjoying it. Reborn wasn't pretty before we arrived there. Because you earn more than a crackhead from slums doesn't mean you have no money problems nor that you are happy. Opal, Peridot, Obsidia, Coral - those we meet briefly, Opal isn't really a ward, it is just a bridge and a town hall, Peridot is the shittiest place ever, Obsidia is big, and we see some slums and nothing much better than that there, Coral is just a desolated port. That makes already a huge part of the city, and pre-reborn Beryl and Jasper doesn't look nice, just a clusters of blocks of flats near the wild forest. Only Onyx seems fine, student's areas are usually live and colourful no matter what. ...still vast majority of people works elsewhere - Silph and others. To be honest, I dont understand - I already know how shitty the people are. Side characters are various, but many of them aren't any good (hello, you murdering bitch Sapphira. She will not hesitate to do anything to protect the sisters, but it doesn't make her righteous, and she was raised in rather wealthy, good family - but still in Reborn).
  10. Yeah, all of a sudden everyone doing rare mons, espionage, murdering Grunts, Lins, smashin' dem bases, but we forgot about this whole mass of boring corpo workers, and it looks like those corporations are the very main source of income for half of the city - majority of us would work there, the rest in services like gastronomy, few cops, few academic teachers, some shop clerks and city cleaning... oh wait, it probably doesn't even exist until the Reborn's reborn. So, here we go: You live in decent area (as for Reborn's standards), somewhere north or east to Opal, you work your ass every day in one of the many local corporations. Each day, along with the city's slow decay, your job becomes less and less financially rewarding. You forgot about your dream to become a real, professional trainer long ago, cos you barely can afford day-to-day life, not to mention expensive medicine after battles and better pokeballs. You even stopped wondering when the hell this kid died in yourself - you came from the Orphanage, but hell, you had friends there, and the doctor wasn't that bad, after all somebody cared after you there, in one way or another, now you have nobody to support you. Ofc you have few of mons, like everyone, but mostly to protect yourself from those bothersome beggards and young bandits from Peridot and slums. Once you caught a stantler on your walk outside the city, that's the best thing you ever found in this city. Almost every day somebody jumps out of the window, and you wonder when your time will come and you finally decide to do so. This fucking window, it reminds you of the poignancy of your existence, you don't even deserve a nice view from it, brown lake and concrete everywhere, ugly buildings. Even your daily route back and forth to job makes you hate the world - in opposite to weather forecasts, it is constantly raining, litter everywhere, sad or hostile faces you pass by doesn't encourage you to change anything. This cute girl from 2nd floor has been seen with this douche from Lapis way too often recently (rich prick, he bought a new bike for her - until you saw the price, you didn't even know it is possible to have this kind of money!). You lost all your hope about her some time ago anyway, just around the time you ceased to talk to each other. There was no reason to that, it was just so, after you were moved to a different department, from colleagues you became strangers. From the other news, your only friend was a tripper, he died from overdose - nobody noticed he has this kind of a problem. Of course you knew he was drugging from time to time, sometimes togheter with you, but it wasn't anything bad, nobody expected he has a problem of this size. Must have been shitty stuff from the new dealer from 7th, he was shady from the beginning. But one day, something changes: you sit like everyday at your desk, then you hear a noise and a scream, then giant plant pulls you out of the window - and it wasn't even opened - and smashes you against the wall of the building you hate. Welcome to Reborn, bitch. I guess this fits Reborn's atmosphere more. Only one gal up there wishes for a normal job and a stable life, she wants to be a calm librarian until shit starts to happen. Fist-bump sis.
  11. Easy difficulty setting is not a good idea, after all this is Reborn, plus I don't think it would change much - here, when it comes to leader battles, having type advantage doesn't mean much, as every leader has its weaknesses usually covered in one way or another, and the other way must be found to beat the obstacles. True is that the closer to 100 lvl, the more attention the player must pay for building a team, IVs, EVs, etc., but it comes from the nature of mon game itself, not because of its exceptional difficulty. In fact, there are many options to trick out the AI (Air Baloons... Here comes the EQ loop, so I can boost my mon with every X-item I have before I lay down the destruction), or just use brute force - in every part of the game a mon allowing to do that can be found. Instead of making the game easier, it would be a better idea to implement the hardcore mod into it as an option.
  12. Once again, it is not about the numbers. To put it into perspective: nobody says Tomb Raider would be better with a male main character, but female Agent 007 sounds ridicolous. Both of those ideas may have their fans, tough - de gustibus non est disputandum - but still it is a ridicolous idea, that would ruin the franchise (hello, Ghost Busters). Exactly.
  13. You see, it is totally not about ideology, 50/50 parity, etc., as it was mentioned in this thread many times - it is about the general view and the impression this game briefly gives. It is about the 'screenwriting' and design - if the soundtrack, or any other element, is misplaced in a movie, most of the people notice that something is not right here, and here we got the same case - many people feel that simply the design of male characters in the game is not the best, or it simply sucks, there is some imbalance in it, and that's why this topic is brought up, it has nothing to do with personal beliefs - especially that Ame explained above why it is so, and she indeed might have subconsciously made it not really in the intended way. There is no need to see political correctness or anything here, really - Mate, you care too much about it. And explain to me please what is an 'progressive' game.
  14. Nah, I wouldn't, by any means. Few years back maybe, but now - been there, done that. I had in mind releasing it 'officialy', in some kind of summary or something, not stalking people xD. I do realise it doesn't take much effort to dig reaaaally deep into someone's life... and simple google can save half of the effort.
  15. I always thought that the delay of the episode increases exponentially according to the formula: f (x) = z^2(x + y) where x is the number of queries 'when it will be done', y - number of new players, and z is a variable dependant on Ame's mood. According to this formula, next episode will be released somewhere in 2023, which is more or less accurate. Demographics aside - downloads count, regions, etc. could have been released without violating anyone's privacy, couldn't they? This question was inspired mostly by the recent translation thread - it would be funny if the translation team consisted with all of the players from a given country, but I'm curious what we could find there. That's what I'd do!
  16. A thought came to my mind, do we have any statistics here? Like, from what part of the world comes the highest/lowest number of downloads, average age of forum member/player, what brought you here, how did you find Reborn/Rejuvenation, etc. - all sorts. I am asking out of pure curiosity, but still, some unforeseen conclusions may arise when we lay our hands on that.
  17. After Ame's explanation, now I understand - but during my first playthrough I felt the lack of something as early as near the first gym and then it hit me in the orphanage - the lack of strong, masculine character at all, not only a positive one. It came through my head, why all the male characters we meet are girly, so it wasn't even about the balance between amount of guys and girls. The only truly strong, 'regular' (not being a fused mutant, or a demon of questionable sex, or a kid), memorable male characters are Solaris and maybe Arclight. No offense, but back then in orphanage, when I wasn't even on forums, my thought was like 'gee, the creators here either hate men, or are heavily brainwashed by pathological feminists'.
  18. While, say, ''Samson'' is not an issue, translating ''Shade'' is just too tempting. Also, there is not much here to be lost in translation, I dont think there is a point in changing 'Florinia' to a variation of 'Florentina' or so. And to translate ''Charlotte'' with reference to the fire means coming up with totally different name for me - not all languages are that flexible when it comes to names, so I guess it would be the translators decision. Sure, it will require a lot of effort, the volume of text is... challenging. Also, at last two people per lang would be good, for cross-check, liaising, proof-reading, etc. As for me, I`d do it in my free time - I used to translate abstracts, articles, speeches and such, both ways, so translating this would be actually relaxing and entertaining.
  19. You, guys, have my sword. When it comes to this, we should probably stick to the convention of our native country: character names are usually not translated (and they shouldn`t be, but sometimes publisher decides to go for full localisation), but it is different when it comes to mon names. Moves also usually have 'official' translation, but their quality is often disputable. This will all generate questions when on one day we will gather and decide to translate this game.
  20. The problem is, now we have too much time between episodes, so even when we are flooded with sidequests and stuff, we have something to do. When playing continously, I dont think that after beating Adrienn, anybody will struggle with sidequests and exploration more than necessary, instead of rushing straight to the desert.
  21. Great idea. Early Meteor fights are in totally different atmosphere than, for example, storming the peak of the mountain while the air units try to delay us. That shit was intense. Or when they breach the mansion.
  22. I think it is the otherwise, she reads it through, then when we get accurate on something, she changes it, just to prove she is so unpredictable xD Shade at the end of WTC clearly said that only two deaths from the screens are on spot, and since we have seen Kiki and Corey dying, and we also witnessed what has happened to Amaria, we can safely assume exploding Lin will also take place - but if it is not death, in addition to Anna not seeing her, we can safely state that it is some kind of an impostor, robot, clone, illusion, avatar, you name it.
  23. On a side note, what about from any leaks or hints from the development? Development slowed down abruptly (yeah, I know, not all % are created equal) It is over 50% and we still beat over and over the same topics on the forums or discuss some useless shite. We are running in circles, it is like, 5th time I see this topic, we need fuel here. Or am I missing something? ;/
