  1. Kinda just echoing what's already said; it's fine for people to play however they prefer, so either is ok. However, shift is undeniably a large player-only advantage that cannot really be compensated for by anything else, so I personally prefer set because it makes the battle more 'symmetrical' if that makes sense. like, compared to most RPGs, with pokemon the player and the enemy are more or less mechanically identical, and I like that.
  2. I feel like on a first playthrough, even having a good team doesn't let you breeze through unless you you're using setup+potions and then sweeping everything. that shit is OP because generally if they can't 2HKO you with whatever they have out, you win. The two fields I think have the highest risk of him hating are Big Top (because it's damage rolls) and Glitch. I think he could also love the glitch field though because it doesn't really have RNG mechanics, despite how busted some of Terras stuff is in it. I think one of the main problems is that he often lets a single instance of bad vanilla pokemon RNG sour an entire fight for him, and make him unfairly pin blame on Reborns battle design instead. (Despite him ignoring when he succeeds due to getting lucky by the same RNG)
  3. I get the feeling that he's so used to basically never whiting out for entire games that the fact that he's basically had to admit defeat has bruised his ego quite a bit. His perception seems quite warped currently to where anything thats beating him must be bullshit and some fault of the game. However he does seen to kinda recognize that theres a good challenge underneath even if he's not consciously admitting it right now, which is why he wants to have another nuzlocke attempt at it later on when he's not going in blind and trying to manage the squad, so I think he'll chill out after a while with the non-nuzlocke rules once their teams improve and they get less smacked because of it.
  4. Gen 4+ Evolution stones (the "rare" ones) aren't naturally in the mining pool, however there's a neat little mod I quite like that adds them to the pool (and a couple other things)
  5. The AI will try to detect when healing is pointless and not get caught in loops and stuff, rather than just a simple "heal when low HP" like the default AI. it's smort
  6. How to start your Saturday in a bad mood 101:

Be woken up at 7am by the loud party next door that's been going for over 14 frickin hours.

Hoo boy that trailer was some hype! but why is the RT website so hard to navigate/find things on.....

  7. You have to do the factory first. and obviously you should be fine with that marshadow, but filling those last couple slots is probably a good idea. Fury Cutter Kricketune is great for the first couple gyms. Mud Sport Zigzagoon can also help a lot, and evolving that poochyena makes is very strong for that point. Really though, don't be afraid to just try out a battle. if you save just before, resetting with F12 only takes a few seconds and then you can try again with better strategy now that you've got more insight, or go and train if you seemed to be heavily outmatched
  8. I don't have testing to back it up right now, but I'm pretty sure the way it's supposed to work is the ability transformation is applied first, and then it's affected by the field based just on its new type
  9. * A limited event refers to a scenario in which one must choose between two or more Pokemon, the others becoming unobtainable (so far), such as choosing starters. So plenty are nonrepeatable. However, if not in the current version, then in the final version, at minimum a pokemon should only be missable if you actively do their event but then choose to not catch them, or release them afterwards. so nothing should be unobtainable just from going past a certain story point, at least not permanently
  10. This seems like a really neat thing, especially once they have different sprites. I will say that the download is much larger than it needs to be. rather than having people redownload a whole extra copy of the game, I'd recommend just having the download be the modified files so that it can be applied to the basegame like a patch
  11. Well, grass does naturally have quite a few weaknesses, and early reborn especially does have quite a lot of poison types. But, they still definitely have their place and are useful in lots of fights. Roserade was an excellent member of my squad for my last playthrough. They're also often good status inflictors or leech seeders for things like the singular "boss" pokemon (other than tangrowth)
  12. Legendary/Mythical status is way more vague from a lore/anime standpoint that a game standpoint. two small points I'll quickly raise for the sake of it. -There are some myths and legends surrounding it and the gracedia, and correct me if I'm wrong, but it's entirely possible that the group in movie 11 is the only group of Shaymin in the entire (anime) world -Seed Flare was powerful enough to rip holes between dimensions.
  13. From a quick browse of the scripts, it looks to me like there's a 10% chance after each battle for pickup to activate (assuming no held item of course) and then going by this table: http://www.rebornevo.com/index.php?/pr/pickup/ The common item has a 30% chance of being rolled, each of the 6 uncommon items have a 10% chance of being rolled, each rare item has a 4% chance, and each very rare has a 1% chance. So sadly, Blue Moon Icecream is only ever a very rare roll, so you're going to have to do an average of 1000 battles per icecream, divided by the number of pickup mons you have from level 31-70
  14. The "Spirit" version was just a creation of the RIFT Chandelure I believe
  15. as of V10 you can use achievement points to get key items that replace HMs for the ones you feel you need frequently but don't want on a pokemon
  16. Wow, everyone is so.... textured! Looks fantasic so great great job zoom! I think it's going to be harder to pick my V11 character sprite now with that Alain overhaul....
  17. If you go to one of the tauros/bouffalant pairs, knocking out Bouf will let you ride tauros and jump up ledges with it, and knocking out Tauros mill make bouf charge forward and move a log. so you can traverse back to the other end of the route
  18. I've always thought MCY looked too similar to regular Charizard (especially with how different MCX is) and wanted him to be darker red similar to Charmeleon. Gamefreak/TPC doesn't give him enough love so here's some from me: I actually posted these in Discord a while ago, but I figured I'd do the backsprites and put them here now. I don't think MCY can actually show up legitimately in Reborn in the current episode, but whatever. (These are intended to replace the regular sprites, but if you want you could swap them for the shinies instead)
  19. Yea I think mentioning the penta-op for a would you rather is not a good plan when keeping it forum-friendly lol. as for your one, I'll go with the Durian because while they smell bad apparently quite a lot of people think they taste good. Also before even hearing about them anywhere else I remember Lychee and Durian fruits from the jungle level of Mario Party DS and wanting to try them, though that kinda faded with finding out about durians smell. Sour milk is just real nasty. for a bit of a different spin, choose just one of these two good things: would you rather have a Switch sequel to Pokemon Conquest or a Switch remake of Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky
  20. Personally I love seeing old areas improved and the game as a whole getting better through more than just new content. it also adds extra spice to the inevitable replays when new versions come out (Like I will be for V11) So thank you Jan, thank you for all of your awesome work.
  21. It's sometime around the 8th gym. I can't remember more specifically than that sorry, but going there is part of the story.
  22. Pretty sure it's just random for each save
  23. Yea Serra always felt like the least significant gym leader before E18, so I'm glad that's changed a bit. I never found her fight all that bad actually, and I kinda like the concepts for the field too, but I can definitely understand why people hate it, and it's been a while since I've actually experienced it for myself.
