  1. I believe the reason that there aren't any English VAs is due to it selling very poorly in Japan. They likely weren't expecting it to be more well received here which is why they tried to cut some costs. I was upset with that at first but then I forgave them. Though I'd rather here zero sound over Japanese Voices imo. There's no point in a voice if I can't understand it.
  2. Sigh...still tied. I need someone to break a tie for this http://www.strawpoll.me/10626272

Curiosity mostly. I mean I'll probably do all of these eventually but if one had like 0 votes, I'd put it pretty low on my priority list.

  3. It's been 71% for a while because the area Ame's been working on is almost done, but I doubt she's had time to work on this game. Though it has moved to 71.8% rather recently. Let me tell you a story: there was this thing for the hardcore mod where I'd put in a gym leader rematch type deal and I did put quite a bit of effort. A few people kept bugging me and I just said forget it. It was only two people but that was more than enough. The whole thing was a draining process that wasn't worth being bugged about. So I had 70% of a project done sitting there for like 4 or 5 months all because a few people were impatient. Ame's spent a very long time creating the current 15 episodes of Reborn which very few people spend that long on a single game other than a few game companies. Monolith Soft has even spent less time than Ame and it takes them 3 or even 4 years to release the next game. It can burn out even the most dedicated people. I could give numerous games to where it happens since people are pushed to finish fast. Since it is a free project, I'd even understand Ame completely halting or holding off of an episode for an entire year. I guess my point is: shut up and be patient. Asking why something is slow down isn't going to help anyone or hurt it in the long run. All you can do is show support hoping Reborn E16 will come in the next 20 years.

The novel and the reroll both sound quite cool.

  5. There was a custody battle between Radomus, Serra, and El over Luna but that's all I've really read into it.
  6. It's not that I disagree with romance being a concept in Reborn, but I feel it doesn't work in the player's perspective. First off, the player has no personality or dialogue other than whatever actions the player does. These actions honestly have little consequence when you think about it. Join a gang and the police? The two don't conflict at all. Doing so would have to give the player personality and morality. It's a cardboard cutout and romance usually takes quite a span of time to build it. No character has really shown signs of affection. I suppose you could argue about Cain showing signs, but he's like that towards everybody. Now for the bigger problem: there are six different protagonists, but I suppose you could condense that down to 3. If Victoria and Cain were romance options, Victoria would be for the male protag and Cain would be for the...male protag. Victoria shows no signs of being Bisexual which in return means only a male character could have a romance (though she has a thing for Cal as we've seen). Cain is Bisexual, however, dating the female protagonist would kind of destruct his character arc considering his family story. Are you starting to see a problem? I just thought of something else: what is the protagonist's age? I can't remember off the top of my head, but I think it's 16. There really isn't that many characters around that age. Charlotte? She was 14 during the league but I'm not sure if that's true in game. Unless the ages are clearly defined, there'd be some stepping into some red flag territories which I'm not so sure should be crossed. That really limits who the player could date/love in a game to the point of what's the point? I'm sorry to kill the topic, but it's not going to happen as Reborn is based off of defined characters from a league and the game is way too far down the line to really implement it. I mean I'm not against Romances in a game. Legend of Heroes Trails of Cold Steel did an excellent job with side romances despite there being a cannon one for Reyn. Not all games can or should do it such as Reborn.
  7. I kind of get what you mean. There really isn't anything to test out the super strong mons you spent a long time working on since all they do is destroy the main story. There's nothing that promotes this other than crushing your enemies with ease...which gets boring after a while. A lot of RPGs create super bosses or special dungeons in order to make up for its other shortcomings for the grinders. The non-grinders can still enjoy the story and everything without being punished to cater towards power grinders. As for CoM, that was a demon to make. Not because it's hard, but because of how time consuming it is. 18 maps, roughly 45 different trainers, and then a few hours of testing for each individual leader. It's not even a month old yet, but if it grows popular enough, I'm sure other fan-games would try implementing it. I literally released it and depending on its popularity, I'd either add more routes to take (aka all 34 leaders) or just keep a single one adding an additional leader each episode.
  8. Nerfs are used to help balance out a game to make it flow better. This happened to Reborn when people were enraged by the whole Charlotte, Aya, and Serra nerfs which eventually led to topics being created on it. Quite a few actually. I feel Aya got a little bit too nerfed, but that's another topic. Leaders such as Valerie (that's the water gym, right?) just could one shot 80-90% of the obtainable Pokemon which...lead to forced grinding. I hear a lot of people say just use Ludicolo on her...which is kind of a ridiculous answer when you should be able to use almost anything in a battle and win with the right strategy. I kind of stopped playing after Version 6 Crawli as I was tired of grinding new mons. I hope level flow is better now. Anyways, Jan adjusted the game to fit the average player who picks it up. He's not going to be able to satisfy everyone, but usually a goal is to reach middle ground so that he can satisfy the largest number of people. If you cater towards the weaker players a bit more, then you have a wider audience and satisfy more people. I can't speak for Jan, but I do pay attention to all the feedback I get. I can't always do something about it though.
  9. ...Well I'll write that one down, but I'm not sure why it did that. I can't promise anything though. Hopefully this is the only move that got glitched up. Edit: I saw the problem and fixed it. That'll be updated if I make another release.
  10. This would've actually fit the Village Bridge theme (Pokemon B2/W2) very well.

  11. From my experience, leveling and level caps have very little to what makes a fight difficult (they are pacing tools). I prefer level caps purely for allowing an abundance of experience along with better team management incentives. I could see that trainer leveling system backfire as it's an anti-grinding incentive in the early game and a grinding incentive in the latter game. This is due to stat growths being more significant in the early game and matters very little when you reach the high end levels like 80 and such (aka the player benefits more from level gains over the opponent). If you could do the system for bosses only, I'd suggest that since well, FFVIII did something similar and it made random encounters very annoying to the point being high leveled hurt more than helped. It worked so well on the bosses though as they were never easy iirc. (The final boss at level 100 though...and all my good spells broken...was hell). And tbh, the base essential's AI's biggest weakness is it's inability to make well played switches. Fix that and it'd spike up the difficulty. Anyways, I'm intrigued by the learning AI system as it'd certainly bring something new to the table and really could be fun. Can't say much else on it since it seems like you know what you're doing in that department. I would like a bit more info on autosaves since well...what causes it to autosave (ie walking to a new map, teleporting, or closing the game). As for story, I could make a couple jabs at the dead mother cliche, but I don't know too much about the story so I'll keep silent there. Judging from the way the start is laid out, that I'm guessing is text straight out of the game. There's a couple little things I'd change or switch around, but honestly it's not bad. I'm just nitpicky when it comes to that. The overall concept seems interesting as well to the point I can't tell if this'll be more story driven or gameplay driven. Kind of wish the player's character description described his personality a little bit more. Again nitpicky me. Now for the thing I really wanted to talk about: the megas. Those Megas look freaking awesome especially Dewgong's. I know Baz has worked on them for like ever (and I've seen the Rapidash sprite before) so Kudos to him. My only concern/question is since you'll be umm...quadrupling the amount of megas, will it still be limited to one mega per team or will you remove that? Just kind of curious seeing as so many megas and so little room in your team. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ As for assistance, well seeing as you have someone for battling and writing, looks like I'm kind of more or less not going to be much help. I mean I have knowledge in all areas (yes, I do know a little about music...though not much), but my artistic abilities are pretty pitiful. The battles I'm used to making are Reborn's field effects and there's a big difference when you do it with and without them. I might beta test, but that's probably it.
  12. I looked this one up and the Chrono Trigger design interests me. I'll wait and see what people say about it since the thing I liked about Chrono Trigger was the time conception (the combat was meh to me). So with the steam sale going on, I can finally recommend buying a couple games. The one I strongly recommend giving a shot is Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky. It's a text heavy RPG with a ton of little things, but man is it a well done story. For a game that's 9.99, that could push you away, but I logged 60 hours in one run of the game (though it can be done in 40). The sequel is a bit more pricey, which I need to finish, but the series has 7 games with are slowly coming to the us.
  13. Tbh, I'm really against this. Maybe in a fun match or one that isn't super serious, but generally I tune out comments in a battle when I need to focus against good players and I'm sure a few others feel the same way. I mean commenting on a battle is fine when something interesting or insane happens, but I generally ignore everyone but my opponent when battling.
  14. LeMarkyNoob and Barde I'll get to your save files Friday or Saturday if nobody else hops in. As for the rest, I don't do unavailable or Pseudos as a rule so you'll have to wait for someone else to do them. LeMarkyNoob - One thing is that Rhyhorn is a mystery egg option so if you flip Rhyhorn with either Lileep or Aron I can do that (both come around the same time anyways but I'd probably give Lileep if you don't specify). Only other thing is Head Smash Aron, but I'll give it an exception since well it's kind of hard to get (I just don't like getting a 140 BP move at the start). I do promote breeding over requesting breed moves since well, they're gone if you delete them since it's hacked in. If you breed, you can relearn the move at any time though. That's all I'll say in case you want to make revisions. Bardechia - While your request is fine, I will say Horsea is available before Shelly in Hardcore, however, the Dragon Scale is completely unobtainable until Episode 16 comes out. Looking back, I might add the dragon scale chance back in, but let me know if you still want the Horsea added in or just the dragon scale instead.
  15. So long as the creator does not give out the PBS files, we are unfortunately unable to help no matter what. All you can do is respect their wishes.
  16. Have you ever played a video game that you go like: "Wow, I kind of want to talk about this stuff." Then you realize the topic doesn't exist and you have to make a brand new topic on the forums...which could die within the very same day. It also feels like you gotta make a big long post so that people understand what you're saying. Basically, this is the lazy an efficient way to bring up a game without having to make a post. It could be anything from "Hey guys, have you seen the new SMT game coming out." Then people can either discuss it or bring fourth another topic. Other than obeying the community rules, I'm fine with whatever pops up in this topic. Let's see...random game I could bring up. Hmm...how about the last story? It's a very short game that I had quite a bit of fun with especially because the characters have unique conversations every battle. In a way, it felt like an interactive novel, where bosses were similar to zelda type bosses. It's a very fast-paced game so if you're short on time you can still enjoy it. Seems like it went through a price jump now because I got it for $30 new.
  17. tbh, I can't really answer a poll like this very well since most of the games, if not all, that I really like aren't represented at all. No Fire Emblem, FF, Xenoblade, and quite a number of older games can't even be mentioned. Games and Anime are also two very different areas as there are plenty of people who play games and don't watch anime and vice versa. I don't really watch anime so how can I say what ones I really like? Now back to the games, I get what you're trying to do, but a poll like this is very limited and we've had topics like this before. RPGs, given Pokemon is one, is probably the biggest sharing ground a lot of users have and it seems you neglected it. Yeah, that's kind of a problem. The whole community is kind of divided on what games they like and you'll slowly learn it's not very broad and it'll start narrowing down. For example, Krim, Ikaru, and I have all played Radiant Dawn and really enjoyed it, but most Fire Emblem discussion goes to the newer Fates game. It's probably just better to speak out your interests and see who's played the game and who is interested in it. For example, I'm sure very few people have played Legend of Heroes Trails of Cold Steel (II is coming out in the fall), but man is it a fun game. So if I bring it up, I might spark some people's interests.
  18. Given you've seen the new ~fabulous~ sprite for a certain character, I'm guessing your playing the newer version. Anyways, I'll warn you about Ciel that she's doubles this go around so if you want to fight her buffed singles team, you'll have to jump back to 2.1 (or whatever that older version is). Good luck on that fight though because you're gonna need it.
  19. You do not like Tiki? Aka a freaking holy dragon of mass destruction. You sir are dead to me. Anyways, welcome back Lexi. I mean I was supposed to disappear, but I didn't. Who knows why? My only complaint is the lack of lolis in the spoiler. Seems rather small compared to what you're capable of.
  20. If Fates had the Hopon Guard, Arthur would become the most broken unit ever.

At least goddess icons give +4 to Luck...But I can only imagine Arthur yelling "YOU'RE OUT OF LUCK, FRIEND!!!" when an enemy goes to crit him but can't. "Evil shall not prevail!"

  21. Rinkah isn't that bad of a unit, but her weapons of choice are straight up terrible to the point Scarlett outclasses her. Rinkah would be better if she could hit stuff, but I swear she couldn't hit anything unless her hit ratio was above and 80% which is bad given axes already get terrible accuracy. She did ok with the Bolt Axe, but man does she start to drag behind after not being able to kill anything. She just doesn't have that much use. As for Setsuna, she doesn't get any better than Takumi. Takumi is a good unit with great growths combined with a broken bow. If he didn't have that bow, both Setsuna and Takumi would still be very useful units and you could pick between the two. Royal > retainer which is a shame since most characters kind of get the boot at that point. For example, Hanna does become better than Ryoma if you level her up, but she doesn't carry a dual ranged weapon WITH A HIGH CRIT CHANCE. She's also very frail which is why I recommend Hinata over her since he can survive an attack...since dodging is nearly impossible in this game. I think the only unit who isn't salvageable or usable, bar most characters in revelations (which all require grinding), is Arthur. Charlotte is a promote then pair-up unit saving her some usefulness, but Arthur is a crit machine who is asking to be crit killed. He's still above some of the previous game units. Anyways, Fates's cast is actually above what to expect in a fire emblem game due to reclassing and all that jazz. I just feel how the units are presented is horribly done. I mean in conquest you get the only Wyvern Knight right next to a promoted Malig Knight. Yeah...
  22. Y'know I want to like LoZ Breath of the Wild, but the breakable weapons and limited inventory turn me off. I love the idea, but I just see so many little things making the game not enjoyable for me.

  24. I've been keeping quiet about this, but I do plan to use something like that for Hardcore. Only one mon will hit 120 (unless people really want to see a level 9001 Lunatone), but most will be in the 100-105 range. That's not something I pulled out of my butt since it's merely adding 5 levels to CoM per episode. I still need to work on the level 100 cap problem (I mean there's a solution, but a clunky one), but that's for another day. I feel like levels really should go beyond 100 in the post game for opponents, but not players. Here's my problem with increasing the players level cap: it'd mean spending more time leveling Pokemon up instead of pushing forward or doing more post game stuff. I mean yeah players will want to skip all random trainers unless they train a couple new mons up or hit the cap, but that's not what people are after in a post-game. There's a crap ton of quests and things to travel all around Reborn so being able to cut time to explore it will do wonders. Though I too am curious how people feel about above level cap enemies.
  25. Hardcore CoM is finally released. See y'all in a month.
