  1. I haven't played it, but you can definitely notice that the creator is kind of new to this. One of the custom sprites needs a bit of polishing help on the borders and I really dislike the 3-d Pokemon...especially in a game where everything else is sprites. The battlefield bases are interesting and I'm not sure what to think of them, but they aren't bad. The map and overworld themselves don't look bad at all, but I'll likely wait and see this get developed a bit further before even considering playing it since a few hours isn't that long for an RPG game.
  2. I don't understand the situation but I'm guessing it's kind of like a house of card. People who do art kind of need money to keep doing art otherwise they'd have to look for a job and don't have as much time to do it. If I spent my life being a writer instead of doing it on the side, I'd be able to get things done quicker but my life would be a lot harder (which is often why that part gets pushed to the background quite often). My pay could be really low since it's such a competitive field. It'd likely be that I'd have to run a Part time job to even get by. I'm not going to tell you what to do, but you should budget yourself. Maybe lay off the official artworks and only focus on what's in game at this point. You'll always have to let go of some things you badly want in a game or creation and it's an unfortunate price, but trying to get everything you want will not end well. I did have two part time jobs and I can honestly tell you it was very hard to get work down being exhausted after it all.
  3. I'm not saying a Pulse Butterfree is impossible, but right now it's nothing more than a red herring. It could've been an experiment and was probably supposed to be removed. If it worked or didn't work I could not say, but that's like saying Kaiser Dragon is a super boss in the original FFVI just because there's data of it in the game. I mean if you dig around in Hardcore long enough, you'd discover a few projects I haven't finished in the revisions. It doesn't mean anything though. I think Pulse Butterfree would be a cool idea, but I take leaks like this with a grain of salt since they're really easy to change within an episode. We don't even know if we'll be fighting a pulse next episode as well. ...And I just realized something I dun goofed on. Eh, nobody will figure it out.
  4. Okay, I saw this great big debate on Zero/ZEL and the one thing that pops up quite a bit is that Pulse room where Shelly read the note. I really think you should disregard all of that when judging how good a character is, not because it's unimportant (backstory is very important to some characters), but background info is just background info, not a character. I really hate to ridicule Amethyst and the writers on this, but ZEL is just handled so terribly. I don't think ZEL is a terrible character either. The whole thing about ZEL is that they're always make an appearance with a pulse and often a different character or pulse is the big focus. Just take a look at the first pulse tangrowth. Yeah we get a glimpse of each one's personality, but it's hard to keep track of which one is which just due to it all being a single sprite. Sure the name changes when a different one is talking but it took me a second run to even figure that out (Lumi is the only one who is easily distinctive due to her more cheery personality). Other than that, it's just a text dumb on pulses giving almost zero insight to who ZEL is. This is the only character to do so as well. Next event is the Pulse Muk in which Solaris takes the spotlight giving off his no mercy impression while ZEL I can't even remember what they say other than trying to stop you. Pulse Abra we just see ZEL getting aggrivated and the focus is mostly on Lin, in which we finally get to meet the scary leader of Meteor. Again, there's really not that much to go off for ZEL, but we learn quite a few interesting tidbits on Sigmund (and even the snake Sirius has fears). The only time we really get context of ZEL's character and motives is the Pulse Avalugg. Obviously ZEL had to plant it their which shows signs that someone in ZEL is at least against Meteor and all of this. Eve is likely the one I'm guessing seeing as we don't know much on her. It's so unusual considering ZEL had no problem killing Flo,Amy, and the player at the start of the game when he was alone. If he wanted to lose, he should've let Amy take down Pulse Growth. That's why when the text dump on ZEL (I really feel that should be something players can choose to read instead of being forced to read through it), I just didn't care. No seriously look at all the little things each character does and look at ZEL and you'll just notice a huge difference in terms of development. The moment you meet Hardy, you can tell he's a very caring person willing to keep trying even when someone is pushing him away as well as the little hatred between him and Fern. That's from a "weak" character. If you want to argue about the text dump Shelly reads, Flo, Amy, Tania, and Julia all have diaries but you don't need to read them to understand or get insight of a character.
  5. Hardcore CoM Day 8: I think my staff is having a little bit too much fun right now.

The F.E.A.R. strategy will be next. XD

  6. This is good data...very good data indeed. Shelly is surprisingly one of the most competent trainers in Hardcore so I needed something to counteract the broken permarain. Radomus and her went from very bottom to the top and it's hilarious.

      Lord Chespin

      Is that... TPP?!

SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!

  7. While I do agree somewhat that some Pokemon are available too far back due to the Gen shift, that's Ame's call whether or not to push them back (technically I can do whatever I want with Hardcore, but I agree with a lot of the current placement bar a few water types). This is simply a place where people make requests and others fulfill them. This is not a place to be giving suggestions due to the fact almost all monos bar like 4 (dragon, steel, rock, and ice) can be done without modding the save file and more importantly is that this clogs up the request thread in which a request may be missed due to that. If you want to make a thread about save file mon suggestions, be my guest. If you make another post here regarding this, I will not respond as a FYI.
  8. Oh that glitch. Yes it happens very rarely if you rapidly move up and down looking at Pokemon summaries but the game will autosave before closing out so you won't lose that much progress. Battle sprite animations were removed which helped reduce and get rid of this problem for the most part so no worries friend.
  9. I suppose I have to agree and disagree with you Chase about the female characters being stronger than the male characters. What I really like about Reborn is that the characters, bar Terra (though her craziness and WTF is part of her character), are quite realistic or down to earth compared to Pokemon and a number of fan games. When you look at Rejuvenations, you've got Venom's Hulk moment along with whatever powers agnie had. The main games at points have characters with zero personality...I can only think of a handful of good character Gym leaders with Platinum's Crasher Wake being one. My gripe is that when you remove the Reborn leaders as characters, everyone else is just really weak or forgettable. Taka is alright, but just way too cowardly to the point it's all he does. ZEL really only shines when the trio are interacting as Zero likely wouldn't be as interesting without the other two. Sirius I'd say is the best character out of them if and only if he's on his own side (if he's just the henchmen type, I feel that'd be a wasted effort building him up). Now take team meteor out as well. Anyone else come to mind. Maybe the Magma/Aqua sides, but Darm was the only interesting one imo. You know there name too right? There's like 400 NPCs or something left (I'm probably off by a few hundred but you get the idea). That's one thing I feel the main games did better than Reborn: memorable generic/unimportant NPCs.
  10. Okay, I just want people to realize that this isn't some fan servicey thing to get whatever Pokemon you like. I mean it is, but I don't want people to be encouraged to ask for unobtainable Pokemon since there unobtainable for a reason. That's actually a term for this called abusing the system. There's a very vague line between wanting a Pokemon just to use it for a challenge and wanting a Pokemon merely because you can't have it normally. Also, I'm a bit hypocritical, but please refrain from creating discussion here. I gave you Pinsir, Joltik, and Veniped...all three of which are found pretty late into the game. I would give Durant if it weren't for the fact he breaks almost all the gym leaders minus Julia (who's super easy in regular Reborn) it isn't even funny. If you want some sweet irony, since I have to fight both Rivals before the Mystery Egg is calculated I did that, but it turned out it was going to be a Volcorona egg anyway (I kept this save file set anyways just as a precaution).
  11. Part of me is wondering why you named it Heather, but yeah, there wasn't anything super important on Qwilfish which is why I turned it into a wild battle. If it's too good, I'll push it back until after Shelly, but its moveset is bad until the move relearner so I don't feel it is since Roselia and Garbodor are also toxic spike users.
  12. A day late, but I'll be honest saying to probably get Birthright and/or Conquest as both are quite good games in their own right...even if I hate a couple chapters with a passion. (Looking at you Birthright Burning Falls). There's quite a bit I like on both paths. Birthright as a very lovable cast, while Conquest has some amazing chapters and one of the best endgames. Just don't get Revelations. Sub-par plot and horrible, I mean horrible map design. Chapter 14 alone has like 60 units of reinforcements who slowly come in turn after turn along with every non-royal plus Hinoka coming in way underleveled and underpowered. Sun and Moon we really don't know much on and it could be worse and even easier than X and Y since GF really only cares about adding features and gimmicks/new mons at this point. Something must've happened in Gen V because they were trying for difficulty in that game at points. It'll also be around for the year before everyone jumps onto a Sinnoh remake train and pushes Sun and moon in the background. Eternian Oddysey is...I don't know actually. I've also played BD and Bravely Second both of which have amazing combat mechanics and kind of a meh story.
  13. If we want to talk about the realisms of Pokemon (oh this brings back that old nuzlocke story I had) it's nothing more than a master and slave relation looking beyond the numbers and RNG. It might sound cruel because it really is until you look a bit deeper. Most RPGs have people fight stuff, usually killing, in order to get stronger and face bigger challenges at hand. Thankfully Pokemon does go to that extreeme only going through "fun" combat in order to get stronger. Pokemon fight because they like to win/survive, which is a greater reward than any pain they feel, because getting hit by a Flare Blitz Blaziken totally doesn't hurt at all, right? Bonds are a bit tricky. Friendship evolution doesn't necessarily mean the servant and master have to be friends. Think of it this way, a newly caught Pokemon has a significantly weaker bond than that of a heartless criminal lord who used a Pokemon for years. It has a lot more to do with trust. The Pokemon obey the crime master because they don't really hold morals and trust them to give the correct orders and achieve victory. They've done it many times in the past after all. That kind of trust would eventually trigger an evolution of a Golbat into a Crobat. A boy and a Buneary could be best buddies, but if it doesn't listen or trust the boy in battle, do you really think it'll every get strong enough or ready for evolution? All of that is very important when I explain this next part: Pokemon are more valuable than any weapon on earth. It's a gun with a mind of it's own is a better way to put it. Children may seem them as fun little friends and toys, but adults realize what Pokemon are more than capable of doing. Technology even has limits that Pokemon have way surpassed. Look at the legendaries for pete's sake and why crime groups were revolved and using this mythical creatures. These are highly valuable things (some more than others obviously) so I'd say that about every trainer in every game highly values Pokemon.
  14. Alright, I may as well cast my vote for Baz.
  15. You tempt me to sing but I suppose F is for fire. Now we must get fire type.
  16. I just see something about a leak, and I won't believe it after seeing probably a thousand fake ones.

  17. From personal experience, I suggest waiting a week or two as other errors will likely arise. Only get an upload up ASAP if there is a critical error causing crashes or corrupting save files. Those are very, very rare though.
  18. I can't say about Rejuvenation (I still haven finished it), but try to not think of Hardcore and Reborn as two separate entities so much. Here's a few key differences between hardcore and regular reborn in usability: -From Julia to Shelly, there's a five level shift allowing for more Pokemon to evolve earlier -Cheap tactics and gimmicky Pokemon such as Kricketune aren't as useful and won't make for easy wins -The availability of some water pokemon was pushed back -Experience is quite abundant allowing for Pokemon found later in the game to be leveled up easier (sometimes even run reserve mons easier) What I'm trying to say is that if something is useful in Reborn, it's probably going to be be just as useful in Hardcore since the focus is skill, not strength. Try to think of leaders as more refined fights. Edit: I suppose A- is fine. It's kind of hard to rank Ninetales as a Sun setter is kind of important.
  19. I don't know about Regular Reborn, but I know for Hardcore I'm not going to implement it. What'll likely happen is that I send Personthing (sorry if I spelled your name wrong) a full on copy of Hardcore E16 so that we have the option whether or not to use it. If Regular Reborn adds it in, obviously Hardcore will too (it'd be counterproductive to remove coding). It all grinds down to a few things that will likely delay it until 17 at least: 1. The mod was just newly released so we don't know how many errors there are 2. A lag test hasn't been worked out. If it's too laggy, it's just best to leave out 3. It needs to be thoroughly tested for fatal errors and crashes (such as the Shelly one) 4. There are likely a lot of little bugs that could also be fixed if we delay it an episode vs releasing it when 16 is pretty close to coming out
  20. I must say Kudos to you for accomplishing quite the task. I really applaud you for your hard work. And yeah, I did know about this earlier and I already got what I asked for out of it. My only concern is the lag but other than that I love it. It's also cool you put in some nice dialogue for different areas to boot.

what does your dog puking on you have to do with your status by status for COM gameplay? :P Still sucks that happened and hope your shorts can be saved.

  22. Due to the old PO server, quite a few nations (such as my nation Apophyll), used Skype as a means to keep certain info from leaking out. Most of the battles and testing took place in our Room, but it was always about strategy there since it was the meeting place for everybody. I do know a couple cases where information did leak out due to discussions especially in the forums where anyone could read anything there. So of course I said keep them private. Worse comes to worse someone forgets the name and they have to have a member PM it to them. As for the battle rooms, there aren't meant to be a social gathering. We often discussed what were the best possible Pokemon choices to go up against the opponent along with figuring out how well prepared each participant was (even to the point of battle testing them). The huge advantage with Showdown is that everyone is required to use it vs skype where some users prefer not skyping...leading into problems.
