  1. So I reached a certain boss in chapter 8 (cough Swordbearer Stronghold cough). I don't know what it's like on normal, but on hard...I barely can even put in a dent

      This is Bravely Default btw

      What's the problem?

  2. This is kind of an interesting scenario. Venomoth will drag for a little bit but once it gets quiver dance then it will become a beast (when its not being one shotted by a certain few leaders. Cough *charlotte *cough). Sudowoodo, yes not kidding, might help with a bit of coverage you lack, but with so many rock types, the choice is really up to you. Magnezone is considered the go to mon, but I'm the one guy who really doesn't care for it. Typhlosion or Pyroar might be something you want to pick up. Ampharos is a good bulky electric if you really need it. I could also suggest addiding a Ghost type like Cofagrigus or Dusclops as a replacement for Zigzagoon as fodder. Rotom will be available down the line, but it's only really going to shine for the last two gyms. Oh wait I remember another good addition for a team like this: Aggron. You have a lot of frail mons so a bulky mon like this would help out. Tyrantrum is also available down the line. I honestly think Aggron is your best option since you can get it (or will very, very soon) and it'd help out for all the gyms your weak to.
  3. To be honest, this is a very common element of video games due to the very misconception of time. It's more that developers throw out time sense for the sake of convenience such as having people build a bridge in 10 seconds. It's generally more for fantasy type games as Sci-fi (or ones with a lot of tech) games usually are more careful about their logic. I got a better question to boggle your mind. How did Team Meteor even move that Camerupt without anyone noticing?
  4. I'll be honest and this goes for my nuzlockes too: I've only lost one Pokemon to a crit out of like 200, but I think the average player would suffer 1 out of 25. Considering critical capture is a thing, I don't really think it's a stretch to prevent criticals on wild Pokemon, but the 1 HP thing I think it a little bit too much. 1 HP pretty much ruins the fact that you have to think through how to weaken it without killing it. The only thing the second option is bringing is saving Poke on Balls, but you remove all effort in the process. I'm the kind of guy who really isn't into something with a whole bunch of flashy features, but this would be a fun option if you could toggle it on or off. Then again, I would rather see this as part of a no-crit, double damage received type option instead of a catching option.
  5. Bravely Default: The Fairy Flies. Bravo game! Bravo! For your clever title.

Lmao yeah in the first game, they really made it special. I'm pretty excited to play bravely second once I get my hands on it

  6. To be honest, unless the script command \PN works in the PBS file, which I highly doubt (I'm not an expert coder), it's not possible to nickname the Illumise to the player. The reason she has an Illumise is that it's one of her aces (similar to how Lunatone and Solrock are Hardy's), but i don't think it had a name. More importantly, how would it make sense for a female Pokemon to have a male name. I don't get why people think it'd be a cool, or even a smart idea even if it were possible. As for the whole rival thing, that's a whole different story. It involves 3 different trainers which a certain one is chosen based on which starter is chosen through branches. So if you fight a rival 3 times, there'd be 9 teams in total, but you'd only see 3 of them. It's really easy to make and basic structure if you're wondering.
  7. I'll be honest in that I don't think nintendo will shut down your game. If they did though, you have way too much original content and work put in here to let it go to waste. I can think of a few different ways to get around this, but that'd mean quite a bundle of work remaking the battle system and a few of the Pokemon sprites. It's always good to have a little bit of fear as it makes you aware of what you're doing. Just be careful with your spending.
  8. I haven't looked at the code for the fight, but yeah, it has like zero consequences in terms of lighting up the field or not. It might in Episode 16 (which you'd have to replay the whole game anyways) so don't really worry about it. Think of it as a bit of bonus dialogue for right now.
  9. Jesus this topic moved really freaking fast. I just want to jump into this section a little bit. Bloody hell, y'all are killing me here. I'll start out with "villain" backstories. You say you like your villains mysterious, but that's more of evil for the sake of being evil trope which really don't have any character at all. Think of a FF final boss such as Garland, Exdeath, Sin, etc. They just aren't that memorable or effective. Motivations is a big factor of making a great villain which is often tied to backstory, but not always. Your also arguing about sympathetic villains which not every villain with a backstory is sympathetic. Ashnard from FE PoR is certainly not a sympathetic villain. I mean he freaking plagued his whole country just so he could become king. In terms of Reborn, I could see Taka being sympathetic, but definitely not Solaris, Sirius, or Lin. I feel like Solaris is aware Lin is likely using him, but it's obvious he needs her, especially after what happened in Amaria's house. It's more of an example of how far you'd go to get what you want, kind of like Ashnard. Sirius is an odd ball though. He's definitely up to something and might even be on his own side. Perhaps when he called you part of Team Meteor he wasn't trying to cover his and the player's hide, but keep Lin from knowing that this is the player. Like the situations where he tries to kill the player/other people is just too coincidental. He's up to something involving the player. Now for ZEL, yes they are likely a tool for Meteor, but a tool is just a tool and be discarded if it's more hassle then it's worth. I don't honestly think they'll play that big of a role in the rest of the story, but you never know. They have their reasons for what they do and that's all there is to it.
  10. Zestria Day 3: Whelp, I finally hit the Twilight Realm. Also, I'm pretty sure Edna is the only one in this game with a brain.

  11. You know, I would die of laughter if Solaris didn't have a Mega Garchomp as that's very, very feasible. There is zero evidence to even say he'll have a mega given the only trainer in the game with one (minus the Techie Johnathan incident) is a gym leader which are more or less the big, climatic tough fight of the episode. There is like no argument to even say Solaris is required to have one because his team is tough. Give him a field that boosts all his Pokemon (aka infinite Sandstorm), and he'll do so much damage. As for Lin, I'm predicting Mega Garchomp for her team. She's obviously going to be tougher than Saphira (likely having Salamence, Hydreigon, Garchomp, and Dragonite). Heather will likely have a Mega Salamence so having two Mega Salamances doesn't make sense.
  12. I suppose I should step in a bit and say a couple things. First and foremost, I don't really like arguing and debating that much, but usually I just say my point and kind of get set aside (though I've had plenty of moments where I've been right, though I've been wrong before and admit to it). That's not the big thing as there are two big issues I see on reborn when it comes into an debate/arguement: 1. After making a point, I've seen a few users, not giving names, end up responding again in which they just reiterate the information they said before usually in which it just doesn't add to the argument. 2. People aren't willing to listen to the other side and consider their views. These two points go hand and hand which kind of makes debates not that fun. Usually, you can make your point and claims in a single post and should really only rebuttal if it adds to the discussion. I don't think it's as much a disrespect problem as much as people going a bit too far. Just my thoughts so take them as you will.
  13. TBH, a console doesn't fade into obscurity until 1-2 years AFTER LAUNCH! This whole idea that and old console should be dumped for something new is ludicrous. When the Wii came out, I still played a lot of Gamecube games (sadly, I don't have as much time as I used to). The 3ds would only be replaced with another handheld system since it's big thing is being something to do on the go. You can't take your console on a road trip so easily. My big point in buying a console isn't all the features, but what games are coming out. I originally skipped out on the 3ds for 2 (or maybe 3) years and didn't have one until a few months before Pokemon X came out. The only reason I even have a Wii U is because of Xenoblade X that won me over. I'll basically be waiting to see what the upcoming games are before even considering buying it.
  14. I'll have to be honest as all of the optional stuff is going to have to be up to you. I believe the reason why many lpers don't do a whole bunch of extra stuff is because they can only spend so much time on a game before moving to the next project. There a few exceptions like Chuggaconroy who does 100% completion LPs (most people just play through a game's main story as it save video editing and is less space on their computer). I can't really tell you what to do as I've done both plow only through the main story and others where I 100% completed them. A game where I can only plow through the main story is Xenoblade Chronicles (not to be mistaken with XB X) because the main story is quite engaging and the side quests are quite tedious and can make the main story way too easy. Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel (or really any of the trails games) puts so much detail into a huge amount of NPCs, especially students, along with sidequests taking no more than 10 minutes, really made me want to do all the side stuff as it is very rewarding (you're really hurting yourself if you don't), but there's so many easy to miss stuff that it's almost impossible to 100% the first time without a guide. There's even books, like one is even a children's book, that you can read just for fun. They aren't too bad tbh. I mean we could argue all day about this as not everyone who plays the game, or even the majority, may even speak. Obviously, there are people who are going to do everything, do some of the side stuff (I mostly only do quests that deepen the story), and some people who will straight up focus on only playing the main story going from point a to b instead of smelling the flowers. I think it boils down to how much you work you want to put into them because there'll always be people who enjoy them and others that say "skip it". As for Gels, I have a love hate relationship with them. On one hand, I really like them as they always restore 30/60% of my health so they'll never be a waste. On the other hand, I rarely can fully restore my HP in the tales game and I start to feel apple gels are worthless. Considering I'm the guy who uses super potions when testing leaders even in the mid 60s (no seriously, not kidding about that), I can honestly say it'll make the game harder as people will have to think about their times to heal. Mostly though, it'll make healing Blissey not a complete waste. I say go for it.
  15. Reason to play Cold Steel #2: Those random NPCs, unlike most games, have quite a bit of dialogue and some interesting stories

tbh, it's like that for the other parts as well. Trails of the Sky but with older graphics.

  16. Reason to play Cold Steel #1: There's a fat student who tries to drug people she's in love with using food.

  17. I'm kind with mde here in that I won't participate in making a wiki, but I'm not against it. We also have a TVtropes, but a wiki is a lot more work. We're more of a community so even if I tried, I'd be on a two front war probably abandoning the wiki given I try to post in the community every other day (I also do other stuff too so it'd just pile up). There's also a reddit as well, but you might not have known that. Just a heads up, that the community is always going to outclass anything someone else does as we have a troubleshooter thread, tons of guides by different users who many are still around, Reborn experts who can help and give good advice, as well as just being able to talk casually around here if we feel like it. That also means we can fudge around the details and extra stuff vs a wiki page which is really all someone is going to see. The most important thing is to give credit to Ame and her team since they're the ones who worked on this as well as a link to the site. I mean battle info and character pages would be nice, but it just grinds down to what people want to spend time on.
  18. It's hard to explain but the reason why a lot of the "popular" pokemon aren't available near the start is so that people use a bigger variety of Pokemon and get a bit creative. Reborn started back when Gen V was kind of new. Gen VI made a ton of Pokemon fall from grace (and helped others) which made the obtainable Pokemon a big jumbled mess. There's reason to this madness, though I do disagree with some of Ame's choices, as you have to work for the better mons such as Rotom (who is a beast against Terra and Ciel).
  19. First off, I know Pokecommunity has a lot of scripts laying around in which the creator's already give permission for game makers to use such as the multiple difficulties code. I can't remember if items replacing HMs is part of that section, but it doesn't matter. I can't say anything about the other modders, but NORMAL REBORN and ANYTHING I MOD for Reborn WILL NOT have items replacing HMs as HMs are a very, very important part of the game. Now let me explain: You tried using the excuse that HMs are a wasted move when in reality, they can be some of the strongest move due to field effects. Look closely at the field effects and you'll realize an HM you have to use for puzzles has some type of effect on the field. However when the HM becomes obsolete, you don't have to use it as much (or not at all). The fact that they can be overridden now pretty much removes the need for an HM slave and rarely would you need all 24 moves on every Pokemon, even in Hardcore, the modded, harder version of reborn, let alone a team of 6 perfect pokemon. Strength is definitely one of my favorite moves in Reborn due to it being hugely underrated. Reborn isn't a perfect game and will have both problems and complaints. A problem is something that gets in the way of the experience to the point it hurts or hinders it. A complaint is something in the experience that you, or a small minority, did not enjoy. This lack of HM items is a complaint, but you are allowed to express your thoughts, however, it doesn't mean it'll be addressed or anything will be done about it, unlike a problem.
  20. I kind of figured that, but since I'm not a super experienced game maker, I didn't want to say that it could easily be done when it could be tricky or tedious. And I know that it's a lot of sprites that need to be recolored which is why I don't think it's been worked on (given all the other additions going into the game right now). Oth, this is probably something better to do through a PM to Ame than asking a question here since that's a really good question and I definitely understand your position. I can't really answer whether or not it is being worked on or will be since all I do is modding. Mostly because I was tired of people whining about nerfs and horrible double AI in Reborn.
  21. Zestria Day 2: I would probably like this game a lot more if it weren't for all those little things that bug me. I really should make a log or something.

Just make a series of status updates like mine :P

  22. In regular Reborn, Trubbish is a lot better than Gulpin due to the first two leaders being very, very vulnerable to toxic spikes to the point they're kind of a joke. Gulpin really shines a lot more in Hardcore due to the fact tanks are really, really useful since you're butt will get handed to you on a silver platter if you go hyper offensive against Julia. But in normal Reborn, she's kind of a pushover. Whismur is kind of useful as it can more or less sweep 2/3rds of Julia's team with Echoed Voice settup. I also used it on a challenge run against Florinia where it just Screeched and destroyed her Cradily. Yes, a normal type owned a rock type. It won't be that useful after the second gym as that's where things start to become somewhat difficult. As for your team, only Fennikin will stay useful the entire game, but when I used Cherrim, it was a lifesaver on a few double battles such as the poison leader. Sunny Day plus early game Solar beam was definitely a good feature, but unfortunately, there aren't that many good lifelong teammates at the start of the game. Of course, anything can be made good into the game if you're willing to spend time learning how to use it.
  23. I'm not an expert on shiny Pokemon so I don't even know if gen III (I think 5 did) even had shiny sprites for the overworld Pokemon. I mean if someone wants to sprite all 800+ (could potentially be 900 since Gen VII is going to be a thing) icon sprites for EVERY single Pokemon I'm sure someone around here would be willing to put them in the game. Just my oppinion that it isn't worth a hassle for such a minor thing that requires a huge workload. I mean if it were easy to implement it could be turned into a community project, but I wouldn't get your hopes up.
  24. Unless Ame changed it from when I last heard, it's 19 episodes until the end of the main story (which I believe is the champion battle), but there would be a release afterward for post game content such as gym leader rematches, likely the legendaries, some more character development, etc.
  25. So I was playing Tales of Zestria yesterday. Pretty much started with me complaining about how Cold Steel did all of these things better...especially NPCs. I mean it's not a bad game, I'm just spoiled by a better one.
