Ymora Academy Chapter 2: Breeding Dragons [IC]
Commander replied to Chim's topic in Unofficial Official RP Club's General
"Oh what do we have here?" Citrine glanced over at the Pokedex. "Hmm...Techie, looks like we're going to need a new buddy. Since Rosie is being a little grouch, why don't you help me out here?" The little Rotom hovered over her head to look at the screen. That old cat was only so much fun so this would be a new playmate who wouldn't glare at everything he did just because he was having fun. "Let's see here...is there any Dragon I really want? Goomy is out of the question 'cause who wants slime on all their stuff. Dratini is cute, but I'm not too found of its evolutions. Axew is way too frail for this team. Hmm...Drudiggon creeps me out. What about a Gible?" Citrine suddenly remembered a story of how a man lost his head to a Garchomp. "...err...I like having a living brother. Alright Techie, which of these three do you like?" The little ghost popped into the Pokedex and deleted all but one of her answers. "...Henry is so going to kill me, but I doubt we're going to get that one. You know, maybe having a Bagon might help him get over that...grudge he has. Citrine then skipped down from the Larvitar and Beldum selection because she heard everyone talking about those two...and she cared little for a Pokemon like that. "Alright Techie, now for the fun one. Let's think about who are next little buddy is going to be." The two typed quite a few different answers, but the two eventually settled on two very, very unusual Pokemon. "Haha! I feel like these two would be perfect. Hey Rosie, you want to see who you'll be working with later?" The small cat was very curious to see what these two troublemakers managed to come up with together. She looked over and was surprised to see Spinarak as the first option. That one could be salvageable from this almost worthless duo. The second one...had to be a joke. She glared at the option she picked. Of course she WOULD pick something like an Onix for one reason alone. It really seemed she was only going to waste potential slots on some super worthless Pokemon like that when she could be going for something awesome like a Lucario or even a Greninja...not a damn weak snake. She simply turned her head and walked away. "Well Techie and I are at least happy with it so the majority wins. Techie, get out of there so I can send it. I don't want to have to explain how you ended up on a teacher's computer...again." The ghost popped out of the Pokedex and watched the girl click the send button. Citrine then noticed her points. "Sigh...looks like I'm getting low on them again. I guess we'll be doing a bit more battling...or I could ask some handsome young man to buy me dinner. Surely a fine gentleman wouldn't leave a poor maiden in distress." Rosie rolled her eyes seeing this over-dramatic performance. Even the Rotom was acting as if this was in pure misery...and it doesn't even need to eat. Still, those two were quite impressive. Citrine was not only able to keep up with her training to the others, despite that carefree personality, she could easily take control of that disobedient Pokemon and keep it from causing trouble unless Citrine wanted him to...which was a bit too often. It made her wonder one thing: Could she possibly be able to fully control a dragon? She still had many doubts about this thought, but maybe her master was right. Maybe she did deserve to be here instead of him. Only time would tell as she was merely here to keep an eye on her. Besides, it was more important for her to be in top shape so that none of the other Pokemon would ever get the idea they were in charge...especially that annoying little ghost. -
I originally liked Team Magma slightly better as the Pokemon choices were more even. Now...the only advantage is the Water Stone as you can get a ton of good water types that aren't Buizel which is why I always felt Chinchou was better suited for the spot. Now I have to say Aqua is way better without question. You get a Fire Stone which you can use to evolve that Arcanine and put the hurt onto Shelly as well as Rapidash who is a really good Pokemon to use once it evolves and is very useful up until Samson, both Houndour and Carvanha, and Maxwell is way easier than Archie allowing for you to get the said mons even before Shade (making him easy as well). Oh you even get Murkrow earlier as well. Seriously, Aqua just is ultimately the better rewards path. I originally loved picking Magma, but now I have to say Aqua because of that Murkrow alone.

<<<<<<<< (Clearly not a huge fan) I suppose favorite RPG would be kind of Hard for me, but I'll do it by categoery SRPG: Fire Emblem Radiant Dawn. Yes, I know it's not loved, but it's because of this game Path of Radiance is good storywise. Everything was just so well polished mechanics wise so it's a very enjoyable game, but it's sad there isn't any way to get it cheap. There are so many mechanics I miss from these games such as Canto and Shove. JRPG: This is honestly a tough one for me. I'm going to have to say Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel, but that's because the story is just so good and the combat is fast and fun (I don't mind the flashiness at all). I gave Xenoblade Chronicles a higher score than this game, but my god is this game something special. I mean my only complaint about the game is the crappy trees and the character's are all likeable despite it being a cliche story. There's just so many little details it's hard not to fall in love with this game. ARPG: The Last Story. Seriously, I love this underrated gem. The combat is very unusual, but I feel like the dialogue that happens in battles and even boss battles really is what made it special. (There's a whole section of weak enemies where you and your team have a contest to see who can kill the most. You can actually hear them counting while killing enemies and it's great). ------------------------------------------------------- But yeah...I generally divide my game oppinions by Story and Gameplay as one generally is better than the other. Here are my two favorites based on that Favorite Story: The Xenosaga series. The gameplay of these games...is meh and the story starts out kind of slow, but for some reason, I really really liked going through this rollercoaster of a series. Half the reason I loved it is due to how well done the villains are and the arcs. It's not perfect, but it was one very enjoyable and long experience. Xenoblade X's 1/2-D villains was a really big step back compared to their Xenosaga counterparts. Favorite Gameplay: Paper Mario TTYD/The Word Ends With You. Normally, I'd just say Paper Mario as it still is one of my all time favorite games, but TTYD is probably one of the most unique game we'll never see again. Both require you to stay really focused and have some very enjoyable boss fights very few RPGs can even match.

There's really no way to say how to do it than to judge your character. If they're a balanced and treat all of their Pokemon equally, then it'd be more like Starter is 12 and partner is 10, but if they focused mostly on the partner, it might be something like starter is 8 and the partner is 12. The exact level themselves are pretty meaningless unless there's a big gap so don't get all worked up about it as long as all your Pokemon are close level. If you add more Pokemon though, your levels don't go up as fast. -

Basically whenever we jump a chapter, pokemon gain levels. Upon level gain, they can learn any new moves that were done by level up. However, there is actually a training facility (we haven't gotten there yet) that will allow for other moves such as TMs, Tutor, and Breeding moves to be taught. I'm not sure what the rule of thumb is so I kind of just picked a couple moves that weren't OP such as Covet for Skitty (since she has like Zero attack) and Shock Wave for Techie (Since he has...like one electric type move for a long time). Just don't do something like learn a coverage more or an OP move and you're usually fine (well you could, but it'd be super, super weak. Like Bulldoze would be twice as strong as EQ at this point). -

If you want to follow my example, Rosie will be lv 12 and Techie lv 10 so that both gained exactly 4 levels each (well Techie gained 5 but you get the idea). -

I know many of the grand hall trainers are based on users from the site (I think Vinny is one). There are some inside jokes such as Mr. Bigglesworth, but I'm pretty sure there are a few others, but it's not easy to remember them all.

What I feel like I'm supposed to write: The white wooled beast crept closer and closer to the luscious green delicacy ever so hungry to eat this delicacy. Slowly one leg after another he found the perfect batch for his ever growing pains. He gracefully lowered his head as darkened lips plucked his meal from mother earth. Finally, he had achieved his Nirvana. What I actually write: The sheep made its away across the prairie to enjoy some nice greens before the farmer would call him back. (I know I probably butchered the first part horrendously...yes, the rust does show from time to time) Yeah, I still do consider myself an amateurish writer though it does seem like I'm getting better. But I do consider writing an art, but I prefer thinking of it as an art for the mind just like Music is mostly an art for the ears. Anyways, this introduction kind of made me realize I never actually made an introduction like ever as I to never though I'd end up a part of this community.

There's a very, very good chance this is going to be found in Reborn City (Neo Reborn City I predict) as it matches the building scheme of that place. Why I think it's going to be in Neo Reborn City is because most of the Wards are pretty cramped except for two (Beryl and Jasper). It'd make for a nice spot in Jasper so that's probably where it'll be found.

Oh please, you people have no clue what punishment is. Victory Road will actually be a straight lined path with a locked door blocking the exit. In order to unlock the door, you have to go through a labyrinth looking for a key, but the key is invisible and cannot be detected by the itemfinder.

So to change the topic, Probopass. What do you guys think might be done with that one? (Unfortunately, my mind is trying to figure out how Sirius's could be used to torture somebody without looking silly.)

I could make a long post, but I feel a tl;dr version would be better. Pokemon have reasons they are axed as you can only speculate and removing them is to promote variety. The reason people go back and revise previous areas of a work (I would use writing but this is a game) is because they get better and more knowledgeable over time. Touching up on previous areas to make it flow better isn't a bad thing and I definitely wouldn't call this micromanaging. The only really big change was the implementation of field effects which got done over time. And by the way, there are quite a few steel types available and Forretress is available in episode 1. (Forretress, Klink, Escavalier, Durant, Probo...nevermind on him, Aggron, and possibly Bisharp) so that arguement actually proves what I'm about to say. The problem is that a lot of people aren't willing to accept and move on with the changes. Reborn has gotten better and there are a ton of good options that you probably haven't looked at. Heck, I still miss and forget about a few like Ambipom. 1 Pokemon isn't going to make a difference and if it does, it should be axed.

I mean it's one thing to not like it but wow...you really need to play a Dragon Quest game if you think that's bad. I probably liked it more because I got all the sheer references and the connections to the Xenoverse but yeah, I don't think it's a good game to get into the Xeno series (though is there really a good one to get into?) Not going to change your mind as I myself pretty much said I probably won't replay it (though I really did enjoy bringing back the sci-fi world). The sad part is that if the story continues (similar to Xenosaga), only the final chapter really gets into what the future ones hold...and likely U-Do will make a return. I know M&M racing is on that list of really bad games. Imagine mario kart made by college students who received two budget cuts. Yeah, it wasn't that well made. I'd have to say Sonic and the Seven rings is my least favorite game. I could not stand to even get to the first boss is was that bad. It's half the reason I haven't bought a Sonic game ever since.

This is coming from someone who hasn't played chess in years, but I don't think the puzzles were that bad outside of one which was took me like ten minutes to figure out. In terms of actual chess, these puzzles are actually more or less really simple as they leave so much room for error. (I feel the Harry Potter's Wizards Chess was harder than them). The only thing you really, really need to know about chess is the Knight's movements as you could probably figure out the rest. There's even a room to explain all of the rules. The only other issue I see is the Pawn becoming a different piece which is the only thing that really held me up (other than the Gardevoir puzzle...which wasn't that hard to figure out). This is because I'm familiar with protecting the King and how can see how the pieces move. And yes, there is a hallway that tells you the rules of chess if you aren't familiar.

Sigh...there are many reasons why the E4 would be in Episode 19 so it's best not to question it. For a different story for a fan-game I've worked on, we've actually put a leader in with the E4 for an episode as there's really no point not to. The stretch was so short that it'd be easier just to make it the longest episode vs the two shortest episodes in the game. I have my own theories why it was laid out like that, but to each his own. Don't jump to a conclusion that this is the best option for the game, when quite honestly, you don't even know what the section is about.

If you're doing the field Corey aka didn't find all the policemen, then Raticate will do wonders to him with Sucker Punch knocking down half his team. Guts Raticate is helpful against Mist Corey, but he's meant to be really, really difficult. If you've seen the first Teddiursa the rest are around in the daytime, but it can be hard to see at points. Fearow and Dodrio will also really help out giving you much stronger attacks. Vigoroth and Stoutland will be able to withstand a hit and be very punishable with Take Down or Slash (I actually used Retaliate Stoutland for a very long time). Ambipom would take a bit of work, but he'd be able to do huge dents into Corey's team. I suppose Litleo would be alright due to the field effect, but you have better options. (Don't forget to pick up the Helioptile) Facade isn't a requirement but a few people used it as a cheap way to blow right through him. I don't think he's that hard to spend hours at the slots, but it's up to you. But yeah...you'll probably want to get rid of Skitty and probably Igglybuff as they are kind of bad and you have to use the moon stone to make them useable.- 8 replies

Here's the none guide version: Step 1: Get the Powder Vial from the clown right outside of the big top (aka the giant tent) Step 2: Collect Powder from trees (You can carry both a sleep and waking powder at once...the clown also explains this) Step 3: Go to the cave and tap a to summon a crustle Step 4: Put Crustle to sleep Step 5: Use strength on the Crustle Step 5: Push the crustle through a puzzle to get the crustle to land into the hole (most of these are just shortcuts) If you're like the average american and don't want to excercise your brain through a tricky puzzle here's a youtube video that'll do it for you: (The puzzles are all mostly simple but they do take a little while to do)

I'm surprised you haven't mentioned it, but Beedrill is one of the best Pokemon to grind off of before Corey as they net you a ton of Exp compared to every other Pokemon around. Like killing two will net you a level up and they're available right outside the Pokemon Center making it very convenient. (Carnivine's isn't bad, but it's nowhere near as good as Beedrill's). It's a very good place to grind if you have trouble against any of the boss fights.

I kind of have to agree. The big reason GF adds types is to help rebalance the type chart in order for one to stop being so OP. Dark and Steel? That was to stop the reign of Psychic types. Fairy? That was mostly aimed toward Dragons. An just as an FYI, you kind of have to go onto your own path when you do this as...not very many people go beyond the formula for good reason. The best advice I could say is to just use logic as best you can when doing new types and that's about it. (I'm not that familiar with Typeology like how Kirlial explained Dark types).

While I'm kind of sad the Shelly puzzle got easier, I'm also kind of happy about it. It took me forever to figure out how to do it after not playing the game for so long. Though I'm going to get a kick if someone makes a post saying that the videos don't help them solve the puzzle. And yes, I'm so happy about the Grand Hall trainers. That's like the one thing I really wanted.

The Adventures of Plain Jane: A Hardcore Normal-Type Mono Run
Commander replied to BijutsuYoukai's topic in Team Showcase
Florinia got updated 4 different times due to a whole bunch of issues such as the too many evolved mons in the area making her super easy (most of her mons got really tanky). I'm just thankful you didn't get the version where the said person gave trainers Lv 25-27 mons. Some mons I believe I devolved, but most of the school mons stayed the same (I really lowered the levels though). Florinia also had her Cradily about Lv 30...with her lowest around 27. Yeah...you can see why I kind of took over. I believe the version you're using I reworked most of the other person's areas so that it flows a lot smoother and most battles would still be enjoyable. The newest version mostly focused on buffing the super easy mons such as Cacnea (who became a nerfed Cacturne), removal of Ferroseed for Gourgeist, some added EVs to some mons later down the lines, ect. A lot of small buffs and fixing a couple issues (such as the Mega Sceptile's sprite and type) we're also done to help the mod look better.- 8 replies

Can someone help me out on my map issue :(
Commander replied to Thorinox's topic in Resources and Tutorials
Whenever you have to map warp, there's this command called transfer player and in RPGmaker, it's fairly simple as you just have to click on the tile the player is going to be warped at (vs trying to figure it out by hand from the coordinates). Just edit the warp player command on each of the events to make sure it's not telling the player to warp to a certain place.
