Let's see if I can remember it correctly. You'll have to forgive me as I didn't actually think I was going to be too involved in the RP community at the time which is why he wasn't such a detailed or well made character. I suppose the best way to describe him was kind socially awkward. I believe he did think somewhat highly of himself, but he certainly wasn't going to be the jerk he was. It wasn't anything too special or detailed and I'd argue is was way more on the sueish side.

Tbh, I kind of expected to do that trick a little bit later, but that was kind of intentional more to alert Rosie than to be unfair or extreme. Henry did say that she was the one who gave him the ideas on how to battle after all in the previous RP. -
That's a really good question. Technically, my first character would've been when I was 4 or 5, but I think that was more of a sue. In terms of writing serious characters though, that's really a good question. The username I use was actually based on a character, but that wasn't my first character. I didn't exactly through away any characters either along with the early ones all coming along a day from each other. I suppose the only one who stayed very true to his character was Drake Mandieum who actually was called Dark Man only at that point in time. It's so funny how similar he stayed such as being the right hand man before backstabbing his master, but it's more liked a fleshed his character out to eventually be a main villain. I think the only other change is that he was a war general and was made a bit older. I mean I can talk about the characters as they are now easily, but trying to remember what they were like 12 years ago is easier said then done. I just remember they weren't really that detailed or had stories to them. If we want to go RP wise, Henry Baldwin from the original Ymora would be my first RP character and that one is one hell of a story. Henry was intentionally going to be socially awkward or not a very friendly person, but there's a really funny story of how he became the way he was. Let's just say that I finished up revising a certain story character for a piece of writing after two months of reworking his story and personality. When a certain event hit my nerves, my instincts kicked in an I started Roleplaying as the character instead of what Henry was going to be. That's half the reason Henry was a mess because I completely changed characters in the first chapter playing more of a character I created called Typhoon. I know I've probably thrown the name Typhoon around a couple times, but I never really did explain who he is. Trust me, the name really suits his personality and style (or at least when he decided to go by that name). He's probably not the guy you want to spend time around as he will get on your nerves and even say or do things that might make you want to stab him (hell, one of his "comrades" tries to kill because of what he does). It's actually pretty similar to Henry's offputting personality, but his softer side exactly matches Henry's. He doesn't want to hurt others which is why he's so cold to them basically sums up the surface of his character. There's quite a bit to this character to the point you can never really tell whose side he really is on.

While it'd be a really cool concept, it'd be really hard to pull off as everyone said animation would probably take too long. It might be easier to just draw a comic and have voice overs as Reborn is far from a short game and not a lot of the main story could even be cut or removed. As for writing, that's a whole debate on what to do. Do you make the protagonist talk, if so, how will it alter some of the dialogue. Then there's the whole staying true to the game vs giving it a more unique feel. I mean normally I would love to help out in that section, but I just don't have the time and what little I have is usually drained away pretty quickly.

Citrine vs Wolt "Somebody is a little grumpy over there," teased Citrine after seeing that he went all out to attack a leaf. She glanced over to her Rotom who was amused by the little performance that just occurred. He even tried poking some of the stars since they didn't effect them at all. Citrine then looked back at Wolt. "Alright, alright, I'll try to stay focused. Techie use, oh look at that cloud. It looks like a Cloyster!" Citrine pointed to a certain cloud in the sky. The little rotom flew up a little higher to get a closer look before saying a couple cries toward Citrine. "Yeah, you're right. It does look like that now that you mention it." The Skitty was about to tackle her trainer in rage when she noticed something odd about the Rotom. While it was flying a bit higher in the air, electricity slowly began to surround its body (charge). The Skitty was first in shock that the Rotom would be disobeying orders...until she thought about it. The whole battle made a little more sense now. Teaching a Pokemon to use an attack without orders was something that could even take months or a year and this girl managed to do it in five minutes. The Skitty figured it had something to do with its very limited moveset since Citrine was clearly not wanting to attack that Eevee yet. Rosie then thought for a second about everything that happened. This definitely was an interesting play for what she considered an amateur. This girl...clearly had some battle experience even though she didn't act like it or know everything about Pokemon. There no way someone would be able to fight like this in their first battle. Just who exactly is this girl? The Skitty stopped caring about which side would win at this point. This had to be one of the strangest battles she'd ever witnessed. -

I mean I'm probably going to go a 3-3 split with Rosie as she has a support movepool of a freaking god. Simple Beam, Helping Hand, Heal Bell, Cosmic Power, Batton Pass, and Copycat just to name a few. Just don't really like it when people something is going to be too weak. Problematic is a bit different which is why I kind of avoided Ninetales this go around (but I would've done Flash Fire if I did go with Zuko). Anyways, I got bigger problems to worry about such as thinking of lines for Citrine...without melting half my brain. -

TBH, Gardevoir really isn't that much of a threat to me. Of course, I always let Radomus set up Trick Room (Exeggutor usually does it) despite how much it hurts and endure his barrage of attacks. I mean of course you'll get owned if you just try to hammer your way through with offense. A good chess player knows when to make the right moves after all. -

Citrine vs Wolt While the little Eevee gave a cute little face, only one person was looking at it. The Skitty couldn't help but feel sorry that the little Eevee was about to get beat up. She then took a look over to her trainer...who was staring at a leaf blowing across the field. Not surprised, the Rotom was doing the same exact thing. The little Skitty cried out to snap the idiot of a trainer away from that distraction. "Huh?" Citrine looked down and noticed the Eevee giving a cute stare. "Oh sorry, I didn't realize we started." She looked over to who distracted Pokemon. "Techie...you should...err...paralyze it I guess." The Rotom then looked over at the Eevee and released a small jolt (thunder wave) at it before going back to watching the leaf. I guess? The Skitty was steamed at the girl's attitude towards this battle. This wasn't fun little game, but a serious fight and she takes it like its nothing. Her former master would've been thinking ahead or be prepared for an incoming strike. And that Rotom was bringing shame to Pokemon everywhere. She doubted he even cared to be there. At least the boy was trying. He'd probably beat her trainer rather easily at this point. -

"That sword you have there isn't anything more than a giant chunk of metal. If you really think that is going to beat me, you're not better than that boy swinging a stick." -Typhoon. (Why I love this character so much). Right now, I feel you have a set way of using Spinda after going through all the possibilities when in reality there is no perfect moveset for any Pokemon. I could argue the same exact thing you're doing for Rosie except I don't because she'll always have uses and kind of has importance to Citrine (though we haven't really ventured too much into her character). I'm well aware Rosie will probably be in the weaker half of all the Pokemon if not the bottom, but that just means you have to get a little creative to evenly match (also because Citrine really ain't into winning or battling as you'll probably realize in my next battle post). I just advise not to worry too much about it and do what you can with that Spinda and not force yourself into any specific moveset just yet. You might surprise yourself. -

"Heh, didn't expect that to go so smoothly. Must be my charm." Citrine walked over to the other side of the field as her little Rotom. A Skitty lowered her head down in shame. This was not going to end well and she already knew it. She just prayed this wouldn't end too badly. Citrine looked over to the blue haired boy with a grin. "How about you make the first move?" -

Err...just replace Confuse Ray with Charge as Charge, Trick, and Confuse Ray are equally problematic when you think about it. It's gonna be hell hitting this tiny thing no matter what its moveset is. -

(Citrine to Frosty Wolt) "Err...that's a very small moveset you have there." Citrine looked at Techie's moves and he only had two attacks...one of which was pretty much worthless. "We'll probably have to work on that or something. At least it's not Splash or something dumb. I guess we also have to do battle with somebody. Alright Techie, all you need to do is beat some kid's Pokemon up then we can have all the fun in the world." The Skitty looked at the two who were gleeing of joy of all the fun they could have. These two matched a little too perfectly. Still, it was nice to know this would be another day she didn't have to work with this thing and could finally answer if she knew how to battle. She simply sat waiting to see this girl get completely curb-stomped by some kid. She then saw that blue haired boy nearby and waited for the show to begin. Citrine looked over to see her little old friend from yesterday. "Hey Frosty!" She yelled from across the area loud enough so at least he could hear it. "You wanna go for a battle. I want to beat someone who is at least somewhat tough." -

tbh, people pretty much treated confuse ray as splash attack in the previous RP which is why I wasn't so concerned about adding it, but I suppose I could figure something out for Trick that could be used here. You'll have to give me a couple days for something that could potentially be a final move for one of my Pokemon (probably not Techie). As for Status Effects, I thought about it and kind of realized how obscure and a necessity they became and decided to kind of come up with a proposal to balance them. Obviously, T-wave is really OP in the RP while moves like Sleep Powder and Confuse Ray...are completely worthless all and all. Paralysis - A Pokemon's movement is slowed down making it harder to dodge attacks and weakens full body attacks (ie Tackle, Body Slam and not something like Metal Claw) (aka just removing the freaking can't move thing because...of issues). Burn - Makes contacting moves like brick break weaker due to the pains, but also weakens their defenses turning them into glass canons. There is not 100% chance of a burn so I feel it's a fair tradeoff for a stronger effect. Poisoned - Same as the games except it has scaling damage doing less for ground type and more to fairy and grass types Sleep - Spore and Sleep Powder can hit the entire side of the opponents field, however, it's fairly easy to escape sleep. It's a case-by-case scenario, but calling out to a Pokemon wasting their turn or them taking damage would pretty much wake them up. Confusion - Pretty much makes the Pokemon have a hard time hitting anything or moving due to dizziness. Think of it like sleep, but for a shorter span of time. One turn of attacks and they're back to normal...or you could try to get a little creative using something like Mind Reader to bypass the dizziness. I don't care if any of these are accepted, but I feel the paralysis shouldn't be an auto can't move thing because it's annoying and super luck based. I'll keep Techie's current moveset for the time being as imo, charge is much, much worse than anything confuse ray could do considering how tiny and fast that thing is. The other thing is that I'm changing Rosie's ability to Wonder Skin...because do we really want to face a cute charm Pokemon? -

Alright sorry about that low quality post. I just am really crunched right now, but in a couple days, I'll be very slow so there won't be such a rush to get a post done. Anyways, here's Techie's data for Dobby to approve or disprove. Since he learns zero egg moves, I think this should be a fair moveset (unless you want me to run discharge) Yeah, yeah, I know the whole you should've picked a mon with better moves, but I prefer an interesting character than winning battles. And it's Citrine. Not like she's a super competetive battler anyways. -
Ymora Academy Chapter 1: Bonds [IC]
Commander replied to Chim's topic in Unofficial Official RP Club's General
Citrine really didn't care about what Pokemon she got...mostly because she probably wasn't the most knowledgable of the species. Sure, she got all the basics down, but there was like 700 or some of these things. When the crazy heads got their "awesome" or "amazing" Pokemon, the blonde decided she'd browse at what was left. There were still quite a lot of people trying to make decisions, but it seemed the fire type table. There still seemed to be quite the selection of options much to her surprise as she looked at a couple selections. There was one specific ball that really drew her attention. She looked over to a ball under the V section and it was a Vulpix. It was female, as to be expected from that species, but she decided to pick it up and look at it for a little bit. She looked up for a minute and saw a swarm of fire right in front of her eyes. Rosie looked at the girl's out of character behavoir as she dropped the Poke Ball while slowly taking a step back one after another. She then noticed that the girl was about to hit the table. She tried crying out to her, but it was too late. She bumped the table and a few of the Poke Balls fell off of the table. One Pokemon also managed to free himself from the prison. A small orange creature with lightning bolt arms looked around slightly dazed. He'd just been enjoying a nap...as usual, then a loud crash, and now he was back outside of that blasted container. Perhaps he had been picked by a trainer. He looked around but it didn't seem like anyone was going to claim him. In fact, the only person close was this blonde haired girl just staring at something. It was better than nothing so he decided it would be nice to greet this random stranger who freed him. Citrine was still looking in fear when suddenly, she felt some weird feeling. She snapped out of this state noticing a little orange guy quite literally shocking her. "Whew, what a burst of energy. Something like that makes you feel going." Citrine turned to the little orange thing now floating in front of her. "Where'd you even come from? I hope you didn't lose your trainer already." The Rotom shook his head pointing to a dropped Poke Ball. "Ah, I must've accidentally set you free. Well...you seem alright in my book. What do you think, Rosie? Should we add this guy to team Citrine?" The Skitty looked at the orange ghost and knew then and there this was asking for trouble. Just by the grin on both that thing and her trainer matched a little too perfectly. One troublemaker was enough, but two? She'd be lucky to survive a week around these two masters of disasters. She quickly shook her head in disapproval trying to get rid of this thing as soon as possible. "Oh, don't be like that. You're always so grouchy. I'm sure someone like this would cheer you up right away. So I guess you can join little guy. What even are you?" Citrine pulled out her Pokedex when suddenly the Rotom dived right into it. She then looked at the screen and it said: I am a rotom, the most awesomest thing to hit this planet. I can make any piece of machine mine and do all sorts of stuff with it. Bet'cha that little cat you got there wouldn't even know a thing about this. I can even work computers so homework will be a breeze. "Well, you got me there. I suppose I should just call you Techie cause you remind me of my bro's love for Tech. I also tend to break stuff so...I might actually need you a lot. The Rotom popped out of the Pokedex excited about being part of this trainer's team. She seemed so laid back too which meant he could have a little fun once in a while. He then looked at the Skitty who looked at him in disapproval. "Come on you two, we got a battle to get going." Citrine then headed out of the towards the field ready to find someone to battle. Before the two 'mons left. The little Rotom gave the Skitty a little shock on the butt causing her to chase after him until he phased through a wall causing her to slam right into it. Yep, this was going to be a very long year. Rosie shook her head and dashed to catch up to the troublesome girl she had to work for. -

Probably not my strongsuit, but whenever I choose moves to use especially for new Pokemon, I rarely, if at all, had something for a final moveset. Weaker, or less used, moves actually have a lot of interesting uses such as Mud Sport (never expected that to be both a defensive and offensive maneuver). So I try to suggest using stuff you won't keep for a long time...otherwise battles might start getting more and more boring for you. After all, stronger moves can be added later. And turbo, I'd add Barrier or Yawn to your Pokemon as that'll help with its frailty and it's not that OP at this point (Barrier maybe, but certainly not Yawn). -
Okay, I don't think everyone should be super worked up right now. Yeah, I bought some stuff, but this is far from the worst breach. PSN and Target have also had this happen. Just calm down while steam resolves the issue. Worse comes to worse you'll have to close your bank account, but just be watchful of it the next few days.
-
I believe it is possible to solve the puzzle 4 moves iirc (might not be exact, but that should be pretty close). I'm not part of the development team, but I suppose a modder or anyone could answer that. Just because you think it's impossible doesn't mean it is. Just have to think outside the box a bit. As for the whole translation thingy, unless there's a program and someone very fluent with both english and said language, it's a very very tedious process. It'd be simple for a modder to translate, but there's a lot of hurdles required to do so. It would also require a modder to completely redo the whole process for each episode due to alterations in texts. It's a lot of work and something that probably I wouldn't even consider until a final release of the game. I can't exactly answer it but this is kind of my perspective after tinkering with the game enough. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- I do actually have a question though. When did the idea of doing field effects come about, and did you ever consider not doing them at some point?

Sure thing Exlink, I'll probably get my second Pokemon post in after christmas and start the battle then as it's going to be a busy day. -
You probably do not want to see my backlog of video games/RPGs. I just stumble upon them somehow. Don't worry, the game ain't going anywhere soon, but I still haven't gotten far so I can't tell how much to recommend it. It's just a very well written story so far is all I can say. This game is for PS3 and I believe the sequel is also on PS3 which is planned for the summer. It's a really good swan song for the PS3 similar to Xenoblade Chronicles was for the Wii. TBH, I don't even know if they'll port it to the PS4 or not. I can't really judge Trials of the Sky as...I only got through the first dungeon and that did drag on for a little bit trying to learn the controls. I'll likely get back to playing that game, but I really do enjoy Cold Steel. I'd go with Normal Mode if you don't care for combat or difficulty that much as it's kind of the perfect difficulty to enjoy through the story while enjoy a slight challenge. Enemies hit hard though just a warning. Like one enemy attack will make you lose 1/4th or 1/5th of your hp and sometimes there will be 8 or 9 enemies in one encounter. I like it, but I could see people feeling it a little lackluster (though from what I read most people play sky for the story, not the gameplay). Most battles are really quick so it's pretty enjoyable.
-
I don't have much to talk about for this game as I've only just started playing it, but I must say that it's quite the gem. I don't want to jump to a conclusion but this game does have potential to be my favorite game of the year...despite how much I really liked other games such as Xenoblade X and Pokemon Super Mystery Dungeon. I'm only actually getting into the Legend of Heroes series, but I can see why people talk about it. The games are actually one really big lore world that connects which is rare for video games entirely. It's my own personal opinion but the text and story are very well written and this game I can already tell will be text/cut-scene heavy but not Xenosaga cut-scene heavy. As far as combat goes...it's best to describe it as a mix of tales of symphonia, fire emblem awakening, and xenosaga. I know that makes no sense, but it's kind of interesting and hard to explain. It's really simple to learn though mastering it will save your butt. I'm still in chapter one...and I've struggled with a few of the enemy encounters on normal mode. Bosses are on the easy side, but I'm terrified of what they'd be in nightmare as they hit pretty hard. I can't give a better review of it because I'm not that far plot wise, but I really enjoy the characters and the military setting. The truth is that I don't have much to complain about other than stuff being missable or exclusive...which reminded me of Persona 3/4 type deal. I also had the ordeal of almost missing out on it as my Gamestop only had one copy left. It's pretty cheap for a PS3 game so if you're on the border, I'd give it a go.

Clearly you didn't win the first battle against him if you used X-scissor on "Nidoking" or you caught on to that little cheap trick. I mean it's rare but some trainers do lead with their ace like mine and Blake's in the maison. Figuring out those battles to buff was a bit tricky, but I enjoy their rebalance compared to Chibi Gengar version. As for that Trick Specs Gengar, tbh, Trick is one of my signature moves so you can expect that to be seen if I do another Commander battle *hint* *hint* -

Hehe I'm not entirely sure which one of the team I'll pick, but I'm leaning towards Techie making his Triumphant return cause he never really got screen time...and it's Citrine.
