  1. You know after playing Trails of the Sky, I'd say the story is better than Cold Steel's, not because Cold Steel's is bad (it's better than Xenoblade's...both of them), but because Skies FC is that freaking good.

I have decided to leave the franchise on hold for now. In order to fully understand the overreaching plot, I think the only way is to play ALL the games in the franchise one after the other, and only in september-october-november I have that kind of time.

There's quite a bit that goes on in the world, but nothing is really required. Very few games, if any at all quite go to this scale of world building. It's really cool how you get multiple perspectives and history from all countries when you play any of the games, but the main focus of the game is that country.

  2. I think it's been more like a year and a half if even that. I wasn't even part of the community 3 years ago and the game was like in episode 3 or 4 (or 5). The last time we went to Reborn City was Episode XI so that'd be about...when I started becoming more active...though I have been waiting 3 years to do quite a bit in the city.
  3. (sees new Pokemon) I actually thought this was some kind of joke at first. This Pokemon is strange...even for GF standards.

Imagine if it is revealed to be a diancie form called Magiana form!

Now that would be a plot twist :P

Well, Porygon's line looks strange too.

But that fits in well lore wise for both of them, given that both the three space ducks and Magiana were apparently completely man-made beings.

In other words, it seems as if this newbie this is going to be a legit Automaton Pokemon.

  4. I know we don't usually talk about percents, but mapping is only 6% for all that. How many maps are there?
  5. Going to have to say that this is kind of untrue. One/two-liners should only be used if an RP is very fast moving and you want to extend the conversation. There are two things you can do to basically every single line of dialogue: tone and movement. Tone is basically how they are saying the lines. Is it yelling? Sarcasm? Mumbo-jumbo? Sometimes if you have the right word choice this can be easily implied especially once you've gotten to know the character well enough. Movement is far more important. Rarely does a person every just merely stand still while speaking. Sometimes we do hand moments, but others we're focused on something else. Dialogue can sometimes give us insight on that, but it almost always stands a little foggy. I'll kind of give an example of how it works: "It's...not like that. I just um...don't ever really think about it," said Lilly. Clearly something is going on, but there's really not too much that can be said. It looks like she's nervous, but perhaps we need more info. Let's try that again: "It's...not like that. I just um...don't ever really think about it." Lilly had a hard time speaking to her long time friend on this matter as she focused her attention on a nearby tree while rubbing her fingers on the heart shaped locked on her neck. This generally what I stick to, but you can at least tell what the character is doing. This is what could be considered bare-minimum when writing a single line of dialogue as you can picture what the character is doing. There's so much more you can do to this though as you'll see here (I'm bored of third person so I'll do first person...totally not because I have an easier time writing it): "It's...not like that. I just um...don't ever really think about it." Lilly was such a terrible liar. She couldn't even bring herself to look straight into my eyes as those emerald beauties focused their attention on that old oak tree nearby. I couldn't blame her though. Any time the word 'family' was mentioned, she'd rub that golden heart around her neck. It was a gift from her mother...or perhaps a memento. "Lilly, have you ever even met your family?" I avoided asking this question for a long time, but I had to know. It would explain why she always asked about my family. ...and I got a little carried away there. The point is that you want to have the other player have a general picture what is going on with you character before jumping to their post. RPing is a little weird so the more details the better which is why I generally include a bit about what the Pokemon are doing so if they don't want to directly talk to my character they can mention one of the mons. It's also pretty easy to respond and comment if you know what the character is doing and give thoughts similar to how Lilly was looking away from the narrator's eyes. tl;dr Insight and actions are more important then length, but more details are easier to react to.
  6. Toshiro's group "Well that's just great," the blonde girl griped as the so called leader walked away. "Looks like we got a no good rule follower for a leader. Wouldn't surprise me if the scientist guy gave us a lecture on dragons. Well at least we'll get to see dragons in action I suppose. Well Techie, if we have to battle one, would you be willing to do the honors?" The little Rotom lifted his arms in the air implying he didn't care either way. Suddenly, the little Skitty approached Citrine with a glare on her face. The girl looked down at the Skitty, a bit annoyed by its actions. "Yeah, yeah, I know about the whole be careful when messing with a dragon. Do you think I want to look like old man Henry now?" The Skitty still didn't budge a muscle, completely focused on this troublesome girl. "Fiiiiiiiiiiiiiiine, you win. I won't do anything to stir up the dragons. But if one does come running toward me, you're the one taking the punches." The girl turned her head grumbling a couple things as the Skitty turned around and went back to her napping spot. On the sidelines, the Rotom remained very quiet. He always had fun messing with the girl and especially that Skitty, but when these two were arguing or fighting, he'd never even dare try to get in trouble. It was always so strange, most trainers got along fine with their Pokemon, especially their first one. What made it even stranger is that Rosie wasn't even disobedient. She obeyed Citrine's orders perfectly in battle. He kept trying to think of something to help them, but nothing ever came to his mind.
  7. How about some Legend of Heroes Music? I'll do skies even though Cold Steel is leagues better
  8. In my honest opinion, "Somemon" is just merely an excuse to be a lazy writer. It's very easy to tell who you are referring to when using the term "someone" correctly. Let me make a very simple example: "Oh wow! Another disobedient cat. Looks like someone is out of the job." Citrine poked her little Skitty, curled up into a ball, who didn't even budge. The Skitty figured if this trainer got bored enough, she'd eventually just go away. Jarring, yes, but it gets the point across. Clearly Citrine is implying Henry lost his job as the misbehaving person. You are correct to roll your eyes when I said Henry. Everything in that sentence points to Rosie. Heck you had to be really foolish to think "someone" even referred to a person. Now I'm going to break this down so that everyone who didn't understand will understand: Our first clue is to recognize who the speaker is. Sometimes you can use tags such as he said, she said, but it's better to avoid them at all costs. While the sentence following the piece of dialogue doesn't flow to well, it is probably implied that Citrine is speaking given that Skitties don't talk. Now that we determined the speaker, it's pretty easy to follow who this someone is. Likely it's going to be a cat given she's saying something is out of a job. The Skitty also seems to be ignoring her trainer which fits what Citrine is talking about quite well. There's also no other actors in this segment so you can easily deduce she must be talking about the Skitty. tl;dr version: If you feel the need to make up words, then perhaps you should look at your sentence structure and add more details/make it flow better to let the readers understand.
  9. Listing all the locations in the game won't be so bad. (10 minutes later) This is going to take a while.

  10. Okay, I'm going to try and put this more back on topic. The draft, like war, is a necessary evil and isn't going to go away so there's no point on arguing whether or not it's right or wrong. One thing that kind of got glazed over this is that the draft is discriminating against women. It's basically saying that only men need to fight for the country which is kind of weird when you think about it. Feminists have been fighting for equal pay for women as well as in sports due to how individualistic we are. The individual is more important than the family. If it was the other way around, I could justify women not being forced to join the army, but that's not what our country is.
  11. Toshiro's Group "Oh don't worry about Techie. Ever since his encounter with Henry's rants, I don't think he'll be breaking rule 2 for a while." Citrine glanced at the Rotom who was shivering at the thought of suffering through another 10 minutes of that. "He'll be on his best behavior, unlike someone I know." She looked over toward Rosie who was enjoying a nice little nap nearby. In truth though, the duo kept her up all day and night so she was kind of exhausted. Citrine then turned to see that their last member had arrived. She couldn't help but notice how the Purrloin beside him was behaving. "Well Rosie, looks like you just lost the medal of worst behaving cat." Rosie woke up from its nap, glancing at the Purrloin before going back to sleep. She really didn't care.
  12. Drafting is a necessary evil despite how much people may hate it. Saying it's completely wrong is like saying "I don't feel like fighting so I guess that means we're going to give up and lose." It's very, very situational and it's a really, really dumb argument to say it's not needed. The draft is there just so that the government can force those who didn't sign up for the army to fight if they need it. I mean I had to fill out that draft paper, but if they looked at me, they'd probably laugh and want to get a woman instead. The point is that not much will change if woman are drafted as they'll go for those they see most fit for the roles first (which is why during the Vietnam war quite a few college students were selected iirc. It's been a few years since I study US history, but I remember something like that). Here's actually probably a better way to answer the draft question: should women be allowed to play sports like football considered to be male sports? If you say yes, especially due to wanting equality, a draft is no different. Don't call me sexist for this, but I don't think it's completely wrong for women to be treated differently than men. That's mostly because of the roles men and women play in a stereotypical point-of-view. What I'm not saying is that men should be considered superior to women as a woman could be more than capable of doing a man's job. My personal opinion though is that woman should have to be drafted unless of course the feminists and equalists want to take back half the things they've been arguing over the years.
  13. Well I'm doing a no-reset, no pair ups Hard Mode of Awakening and I got up to ch 5 without a death. Of all the things that could go wrong, Virion would be the one to die.

  14. The reason Nintendo Censors a game or actually really any company is mostly due to the rating system and to avoid getting an M rating as Nintendo is known to be kid friendly. I love how in Xenosaga that they couldn't have a certain villain chop his own head off with a knife so they literally renedered it so that he rips his own head off with his bare hands making the scene even more horrifying. The rating system is really stupid and I could see this being a part of it as ratings really don't make sense. I'd probably be more upset if they dumbed the game down if they believed American gamers aren't capable (cough Path of Radiance cough), but that's the big thing to worry about. The whole petting your waifu thing I felt was really dumb, but I suppose I can see why people are getting upset. What I don't understand is why people are boycotting the game and canceling their pre-orders because they can't pet their waifus in what is supposed to be a tactical RPG about strategizing (and what is usually a pretty good storyline). Tbh, I was more upset about the drugging removal than this, but you still have most of the game there.
  15. Toshiro's group "Ooooh! That's an interesting little device you got there. Must be kind of fun being the leader and all that." Citrine had her mouth full so it could be a bit hard to understand her. She had taken the luxury of grabbing a few sandwiches, still in her hand, before having to head off. The Skitty behind her was disgusted by the sight of her glutton trainer not wasting a second to eat free food. Citrine then took a moment to swallow her mouthful. "You don't seem the leadery type, but I suppose beggars can't be choosers." Meanwhile, Techie was busy glaring at the Ipad, but he restrained himself as much as he could. There was a Skitty watching his every move and he really didn't feel like being beamed into a ball. Well...it wouldn't be too bad considering how boring and techless this place was. The only place worse had to be that Academy Forest where nothing fun was at. Still, his master was always fun to be around so for once, he would withhold himself. "By the way, I can tell we haven't met, pony[-tail] boy. The name's Citrine and don't ever call me Luna again. If you do that, we'll get along great. And oh, it looks like Frosty is in this group too. Man, this is going to be a fun trip."
  16. I have to second this. I just went through a post explaining the whole why this doesn't need to be locked so let's just take Redemption out of this place and back into it's own page. Seriously, it's getting annoying and I have work to get back to. ---------------------------------------------------------------- To the Redemption League, I think you need a wake-up call to kind of realize how you aren't as big and powerful as you think you are. Yeah, it's cool and all that you helped revive a dead league and all, but that doesn't make you anything special. You're simply a league that was created for entertainment and should, I don't know...focus on keeping it fun instead of poking your business into what other people are doing. If anything, all these remarks from Redemption League members are hurting you. If you see a new league pop up, I'd rather see how a league is able to get past their pride and willing to help a bit and if they really don't like the person...just ignore the thing. ----------------------------------------------------------------- To Ame_Rosa, I don't think people are "ignoring" you're changes because you're making it different. The battle rulesets are more or less set by Smogon and Redemption used many of those rules. It's mostly based on competitive battling to keep it balanced. The tier system works out well as a format as 18/3 is 6 and 6 is a nice number. This is just my opinion, but most of that stuff really isn't important and probably shouldn't be considered for a while down after you get a general idea what to do. This might sound a bit weird, but building a world is probably the first thing you should do. Obviously, this is a journey for people to show off their skills and be the best of the best, but half the fun is getting there. Even if a leader is kind of on the easy side, someone with an enjoyable personality would attract more attention than a super skilled battler as skilled players are expendable. As for the whole needing sprites and badges, they're really nice things to look at, but creative minds who can't draw can find ways to make it interesting without either. If you're serious about this league, take some time to expand on it and come back to show us a much bigger picture.
  17. First, I think I'll be the one honest here in saying that this has turned from a league idea into a bash dash for doing something beyond the bounds of their power. When I saw this locked, I knew that this wasn't going to end well. Yes, it was wrong to lock this and we should move on from that. If you want to discuss this to someone, let it be to the other mods about how you feel. It's done and over with. There is one thing I want to clear up: Being a writer, I do know of one good reason to lock a thread in this situation. If there is an act of plagiarism, you will get your topic locked. It's not something that's normally discussed, but it is something that is a very foggy area. Generally, writers such as myself use the copy and paste rule to determine whether or not somebody is stealing another's hard work and claiming it for themselves. Did this league do that? Yes and no. I could see a small reason to lock this but... That'd be one big piece of hypocrisy considering what the site is called. Technically, Game Freak is what set the system with the original Pokemon League, Reborn refined it to make it more of a challenge, and then Redemption became a league based off of that. You can't say Reborn and Redemption are the same thing and it'd be a very difficult claim to say that this is the same the as the Redemption league. While it looks similar to the Redemption League, it's not the same thing. That's what it boils down to due to this all being related to Pokemon and GF/Nintendo have more say in it than any of us ever would (thankfully they don't bother us though). ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Now that whole issue is out of the way, I feel Ame_Rosa has a complete right to request all the comments discussing the whole thing to be deleted, mine included as it just makes this look even worse. I doubt it was their intention of making this into a discussion. I would give advice, but I would prefer if you were a bit more clear on what this league is and what its current stage is at to give people a better idea.
  18. Corrin is a bit slow so I don't think he'll be top tier, but Beyonetta oml easily in the top 3

Tell me Corrin's not slower than Roy... If so, I'll just stick with Roy as my FE character.

    2. Dark Desire

      Dark Desire

roy's kinda the fastest FE character if not tied with marth/lucina so there's no beating him, corrin seems to be on ike tier speed which is average

      That aside, I am glad to see someone who shares a passion of mine. More often than not, I tend to enjoy games nobody else know ;-;

One thing I am finding confusing is how all Famicom games apparently are set in the same world. So the game is full of cross-references, but considering that most of those games never saw an italian export...

  20. Yeah...sorry. I've been trying to do an interaction with someone, but something just keeps coming up. Literally, I had a rough day yesterday as I woke up noticed I passed out on the desk and realized I had 10 minutes to get to work. I should be available Thursday, but hopefully everything will calm down after that. Seriously, some things pop up that I want to pull my hair for.
  21. Hey girl, whatcha doin'? There's something in the kitchen that shouldn't be brewin'

  22. Here's the one thing I learned if you want to be unique or don't want to have your choice taken: don't pick a pseudo, eeveelution, or a dragon in general because almost everybody is going to pick that as well as the super popular options. Btw Huk, did you even consider Mantine or Lileep? Both of those have similar roles to Swablu and Mantine is pretty similar to Altaria and really underrated.
  23. You wouldn't be the only one. Generally, I don't like having a mon as someone else as it generally means one gets forgotten about down the lines. In the original RP, Jory and I actually both had a Togepi...but let's face it, Paradox really outshined Ares with how well it added to Henry's character being such a big baby.
  24. Let's be honest here: Rosie has been criticizing and being very skeptical about Citrine from day one...even down to her choices. Yes, I'm even sure Rosie knows that Onix can be good...but what about with a trainer who just doesn't really seem to care and just picks really random options. I suppose I could've worded it as something like "She cares more about having her fun than to take this seriously" or along the lines of that. The bigger point is that instead of picking something known for their strength such as Lucario or like a rare fossil like Aerodactyl, she decides to pick a run-of-the-mill spider and a common sight rock snake neither of which really stick out...hence why Rosie might consider them worthless. Because let's face it: how many people would actually admit Stunfisk is a good mon instead of giving it judgement it's crappy right away? But yeah, that was to kind of show how different Citrine and Rosie really are. Even their team choices differ and they almost have zero common ground. It's very, very different considering how most trainers start out with a strong bond and even are buddies with their first Pokemon, but Rosie is in an unusual situation. But anyways, take little of what is said in the ICs to heart as I've said before, "I kill brain cells every time I write a character like Citrine." Also, it seems Follie might be our new berry glutton
