  1. If I livestreamed Hardcore (it'd mostly be AI testing right now) would anyone be interested in watching.

  2. Hardcore pays a lot of homeage to the original Pokemon Reborn game with Episode VII Aya being the standard tier difficulty for Reborn leaders. Though the nerfs just balance things off making fights a little bit easier, but due to replaying Reborn that general thinking is kind of stretched really far. It's really not that much less difficult but mostly removed the insanely hard hitters or nerfed them in some way. .Surprisingly the game is intended to fight leaders 3-5 levels under the cap, unlike hardcore which is supposed to be fought at the cap, so levels should never be a problem. Even my first playthrough (which did not have common candies at the time) I only ever had one overleveled mon if I was struggling on a leader other than Aya which is another demon entirely due to trying to evolve stuff. Removing the entirety of the level cap system is so easy compared to stopping a Pokemon from leveling up which is what I did. You could even link it very easily to an easy mode for the game. I've considered making one for people who want to enjoy the story but that probably should be saved for 19 since I don't think there's a big enough group for a game pretty much started up with a reputation of a brutally hard Pokemon game (now not as big of a deal). The only pokemon that is really close to the level cap is their ace which usually is at it with the lowest being roughly 3 below the ace which is a rare case. Most gym leaders until around like the last one in the current episode will be 5-8 levels below the cap such as the first one, Julia. The EV spreads only happen for their last pokemon from Serra all the way to Charlotte where only gym leaders have all their mons fully ev spread. IMO, that makes them weaker than stronger but that's just me. Noel is frustrating which is why he was nerfed like a few leaders before him (and like a couple afterwards too). Still the BS level is nothing compared to V8 Serra. Goggle Shofu Serra and nothing ever hit that level again. The problem here is that you're treating this like a regular Pokemon game which it's not. Reborn hits a difficulty level that players have to start using strategies instead of a LOL! Super effective move spam and item spam for auto win. It's a bit hard the first go around since you don't know what to expect, but Reborn is about as hard as a typical RPG or FF game if not easier. But yeah, we all get fraustrated at that one leader the first go around, but admittedly it's fun to get frustrated.
  3. Well...I somehow managed to break Shelly even more in an attempt to nerf her.

  4. Birthright's difficulty is rather strange. I feel like the early game of Birthright is perfectly fine, not great, but not bad. Then Takumi comes and...kind of creates some problems but it's not too bad. Then Ryoma comes and snaps the game in half. I mean when you have the ability to One turn the final boss and most enemies with Ryoma alone on Lunatic, it's a problem. From Burning Falls onward, reinforcements are just inflated to a ridiculous amount of levels causing the player to a standstill for a little while. The other problem with Birthright is that 75% of the objectives are route the enemy with a ludicrous amount of reinforcements. It makes the game for a lot of vets feel tedious and boring since the game needs very little tactics to win. Cast wise, I feel Birthright and Conquest are about the same since but I like a couple more Birthright character over Conquest's. The classes just didn't feel right to me though and unbalanced. Conquest is not a flawless game even if you remove the story. What I like about most maps is that you can take a lot of time thinking about it especially when there's optional dragon veins like in the Ice Tribe Village. I had a hard time with that map mostly because I was pushed to go after the soldiers in a timely manner in order to get the 10,000 gold. Had I not wanted the money, it was way easier than chapter 7. It's actually a bit easier than Radiant Dawn but pays homage to the harder FE games which is a nice change, but most of the deaths were my fault for being careless and not crit bs (cough*Burning Falls*cough). Chapter 10 was very easy for me on Hard because I trained all my units well and Camilla really can help out. Some chapters I could see being too hard, but most of the faults are with gimmicks and just some stupidly OP skills on units. I'm not going into revelations that much but if I had to pick a story of fates I enjoyed the most, it'd have to be Conquest's sadly. Birthright's was just...boring, bland, and uninteresting. It had one good twist but that's really it. I'm going to leave a spoiler talking about why I didn't like that one though at the end. Conquest was a mess but it had sprinkles of interesting stuff and the paralogue chapter actually had good little side stories like Forrest. Then there's Revelation which is far worse than either path imo. Rather not rant on that one anymore than I have.
  5. Sigh...don't really like doing requests so I might have to teach a couple new people how to edit saves for the events. And yes, the totem pole can be altered. Some of the event mons are unusual levels (I think Golett is 31) and Egg Moves so you might be missing out on something just as a warning. But yeah don't ask me to alter save files because you would've gotten these mons instead of those 4:
  6. Just some advice: it feels like you're taking this way too personally when a simple acknowledgement would suffice. Anything you post or do on the site often represents the game's reputation especially on the game's page. I was merely stating that there's a very unusual pattern of very slow progression for a group like this. It's something that should be looked into and changes be made in order for progress to flow more smoothly.
  7. I hate to be the one to finally bring this up mostly because I haven't been a part of this since February and quite literally know nothing of what's going on, but giving updates for the game should be the least of your worries. Saying you can't make updates due to the lack of scripting creates on very big red flag. But so far in a total of roughly 7 months you've only shown us a couple sprites, a couple soundtracks, a single map, and a couple pieces of concept art and this is with a group that is far bigger than most fan-games or hacks have by a large margin and even some companies/developers who make games for a living. You have had more resources than the average person and even a longer amount of time...yet this is all you have to show us. My point isn't to belittle or be hypocritical of your work. I'm merely saying to stop making excuses and accept something in the system in place isn't working. It could be that whatever this coder needs to do should be scrapped entirely since it seems you are always in need of a coder. Focus on making progress of the game with a team that can do it, then consider updating and showcasing a bit of it. After all even 80% of a game isn't a game without that last 20% no matter how little or insignificant it is. You'll know what the means when you start building and getting really far into a project.
  8. Tbh, I can't remember the exact event (aka the thing you have to do) that triggers the rock switch to the boulder but it does involve a switch of some sort. I thought it was supposed to do that after beating Aya, but perhaps you have to look at a grave. Ah yes, you have to interact with the Kiki grave found outside of a building nearby the start of the map.
  9. Just for kicks I tallied up the number of times said items timber mentioned. The hardcore percentages should be pretty accurate but for regular reborn I'm to going to roughly guess on average 4 items per boss due to large sections of mons in the game lacking them. (If someone wants to do an exact count of the number of items in the game be my guest). Regular Reborn (based on 300 items) number of life orbs: 19 (6.33%) number of leftovers: 67 (22.33%) number of black sludges: 7 (2.33%) Reborn Hardcore (based on 450 items) number of life orbs: 40 (8.88%) number of leftovers: 91 (20.2%) number of black sludges: 33 (7.33%) The lefties ratio is actually honestly surprising and I can understand Timber Dragon complaining about the number of lefties considering 1/4th of the boss mons have them.
  10. >Gunter >Boss Captures I know it's not really a thing, but bosses seriously don't stick out in this game other than memes. Then again there really aren't any unique bosses outside of other path units excluding Hans, Garon, and Iago. I'm mostly referring to people like Haitaka who generally have some type of personality and play a minor role (kind of like Murdoc). That was one cool thing in the old games that certain characters would activate a boss quote. Heck, every character how a boss quote for Ashnard in PoR iirc. Anyways, here's support conversations that should've happened imo (I won't do repeats): IMO the general rule is that non dlc character should all have at least 5 characters to support with. If they have to cut back, then the bare minimum should be 3 outside of the Avatar to develop their characters. Yukimara and Shura having a support conversation would've really help build upon both characters.

  12. The combat is both a step up and a step down from its predecessor. I thought it was pretty bad until I got used to it. There comes a point where you probably won't even realize your moves are cooling down (especially in the mechs where you can go through a strand of 100 attacks without waiting if you're really, really good). It's more about positioning and breaking weak points over being the most realistic combat. My biggest gripe is the inflation of enemy health prolonging how long it takes to kill them whereas Xenoblade took a minute at most to kill non unique enemies or bosses. As for RPGs to recommend the Wii U just straight up lacks them sadly. The Last Story is a Wii game that comes to mind other than Xenoblade (and you don't want to cough up that much money for FE Radiant Dawn). The 3DS is easy since there's Persona Q (not my style of game), FE games, Bravely Default/Second, and...eh nothing else stands out. I mean there are other RPGs, but I mostly play on the playstation for them outside a few franchises (cough FE cough). Now for PC you must play Under...bwahahahahaha sorry to bash on it, but that game doesn't really uphold as much as it did. Sure it was great but it just is talked about so much. I suppose the two I played and really liked are Valkyria Profile (originally a PS3 or maybe 2 game) and Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky FC (originally a PSP game, but the Steam version is so much better). Another one that can only be played as a ROM is Mother 3 which is...a bizarre but well written game).
  13. I've only played the Prologue and Chapter 1 but yeah I can't really say the story is anything special. Average at best, but combat is fun and fast paced so there's that. I suppose my favorite part of the game is the epic Chrom fist bump (I'm not kidding this happens in the game). The FE perspective isn't really done that well since Caeda doesn't feel like Caeda which is sad since pretty much anyone else from Shadow Dragon didn't have a personality. Missed opportunity but I'd say it's worth picking up if you don't mind JRPGs (unless you haven't played Xenoblade X then buy that instead). Depending on what you're looking for and your systems, I probably could name an RPG that does what Tokyo Mirage Sessions does but better. Not the worst purchase you could make for a Wii U.
  14. Oh Strat you should know me well enough that I keep anything I am truly, truly terrified all to myself that and I'd honestly be surprised if you didn't think of something similar to that sadistic king ahead of time. One of these days we really need to create another Poke war.
  15. Interested, but hesitant here. I'd have to wait until the OoC before saying yes or no to this.
  16. What if I told you that's the easiest chapter in the campaign?
  17. "If the gods themselves have fallen, then truly no living thing is safe in this prison we call home. There is nobody else. Fate brought us all together as one last chance to save this world. Or maybe it is to prolong our suffering." -Gan-Mac
  18. I just had a horrible image come across my mind. If we have to face the Permafrost King, we are so screwed. If you don't know who that is, stay ignorant.
  19. I really just wanted to have flash on him I tried fixing it a little bit so hopefully that'll work (just the first sentence of personal history). Ah yes how funny it is that knowledge is lost over time only to be discovered in the future.
  20. Pokemon Reborn and Rejuvenation are two entirely different games built upon the same type of foundation. Both have their pros and cons so I'll try to give a general idea of the games and their differences: What they both have in common: -The games limit the number of useful items and mons to provide a "brutal" type of Pokemon game -All leaders use 6 Pokemon (and sometimes bosses outside of them) which are well rounded to help cover their weaknesses -Characters who are all involved in the story and aren't just obligatory gym fights -A plot that extends way beyond a normal Pokemon games and uses mature themes -Field Effects to provide and even greater challenge -An evil organization that is actually competent in what they do -Loads and loads of references Pokemon Rejuvenation: Pros -Built off of Pokemon Reborn's system so fans of Reborn can jump in pretty smoothly -Has multiple modes suited for anyone's taste in playstyle -Original Characters who help form a more angsty and faster paced plot over Reborn -Shadow Pokemon are available to capture and use (though a little limited) -A wide variety of sidequests that will always give great rewards and are very entertaining -The game is more difficult than Reborn (and Hardcore retrospectively) -Grinding is also much easier in this game due to a rematch trainer in every town -Leaders have a signature move that they created (and fakemove tms are available) -Leaders are also more well rounded over Reborn's Cons -Some story moments in the game are a bit far fetched and too cartoony -A little bit of a level/difficulty imbalance that may halt the game for a few moments (this may have changes since last version I played was 6) -Field effects aren't implemented as well compared to Reborn -Depending on your play style, fake moves might turn you off Pokemon Reborn: Pros -Has been around for a lot longer so it's features and story are more developed and flows a bit smoother -Pokemon have breeding moves to help balance the viability out -15 episodes worth of content -The world feels far more connected and the first half of the game takes place in a single city -Leaders are based on characters in a league and some events did happen irl or a reference to it -Innovated the field effect idea and implanted it into the game very well -Some crazy and creative puzzles Cons -Only a single level of difficulty -Lacking in many gimmick features such as nuzlocke, randomizer, etc -Almost all sidequests are either for Pokemon or stickers -Due to nearing the end, updates and new episodes take a long while to come out (episode 16 should be out in a few months but I cannot speak for Ame) -Leader teams are sometimes lopsided where the ace is usually way stronger than the rest of their team (sometimes I don't even remember what a certain Pokemon can even do such as Shade's Doublade) Pokemon Reborn Hardcore (Reborn mod) Pros -Adds a new level of difficulty to the Reborn story -Reborn leaders are more balanced with a focus on balancing a full team at the cost of making the ace look a bit weaker -Opponents have been altered to reduce the number of AI errors -Exp Share and Lucky Egg are available from the start reducing grinding -Alternate fights are available as tribute to the pre-field teams (such as Radomus singles) -Some extra Pokemon are added earlier in the game to promote more variety -A post game area to challenge players one step even further in a gym castle setting -Updated more often than regular Reborn Cons -Easier than Rejuvenation's intense mode -Abundance of experience may make Pokemon overleveled -Some story moments have been altered to better fit the game (aka Cain's "Oshawott") -Shelly's perma rain feels unfair -the infamous chibi Gengar --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I probably missed a bizillion differences, but the main thing that separates both games is that Reborn has a better designed world and more developed story while Rejuvenation thrives more on just being fun and often challenges players more than Reborn does. If you like one I'd try the other and see if you like since they're similar at base. I also threw Hardcore in there mostly for comparison purposes since Reborn lacks difficulty modes so it's the only thing to compare to Rejuvenation's Intense mode.
  21. I was going to go for Ninjask but seeing as there's a bug type as well as a couple glass canons I'll go with a Psychic type. I already have a feeling strat is going to flood me with a few fixes seeing as it's been a while since I've RP'd
  22. So Heirs of Fate I finally go around playing. Just for a heads up, I'm pretty sure this is the order your supposed to play the games in (though order really doesn't matter much): Birthright>Conquest>Revelations>Hidden Truths>Heirs of Fate Now onto my thoughts: I'll start with non spoiler stuff before getting into the spoilery type areas a bit. As you may know, this is a branch of DLC all about the children units similar to The Past Future, but the main difference is that you have generic units to use for all of them. The pain in the butt part about these DLCs is that if you lose one single unit, you miss out on the skill reward. Since I didn't feel like starting any of them over (especially a certain one) I just only got the rewards for V and the Endgame (Pointblank is the only one I really wanted anyways). The story itself is quite nice and kind of connects all the games a little bit even though there's a bit of convolution that wasn't needed at all. I'll summarize the map designs in a nutshell: Revelations done better. They recycled old maps but most of them felt quite a bit different than how they originally played out. ENEMIES HAVE SKILLS as well so it's important to keep an eye on that. In terms of challenge it's harder than Birthright, but not even close to Conquest difficulty so if you can play conquest you can beat these maps. Though I will warn you that it is hard to keep all units alive in III (for me at least) though if you're not reckless you can get through all maps without losing a single unit. Okay now I'll go into detail for all the maps by episode: So if you played Hidden Truths and kind of liked it, I'd go and try these ones out since they are really fun despite having generic units.
  23. I'm too lazy too hit the respond button to all of these so first I'll kind of respond to the items and then the money: Items Before I say anything, I'm just going to show a couple of regular reborn leaders vs the hardcore counterparts (these ones I'm not so afraid to give the data away for due to being pretty obvious from my perspective): This pattern of Reborn leaders lacking items goes up until around Terra where they all start using items and in fact Terra's Excadrill is the first Life Orb seen in the game iirc...or maybe it was Blake. Admittedly I use quite a number of Leftovers in order to keep leaders using a variety of mons but more often than not, the leftovers make a Pokemon dangerous, instead of delaying the inevitable. I mean you could argue that it's unfair that they get access and so many of them use it put then someone could say right back it's you that's being unfair due to: -Unlimited healing items -Revive Pokemon Knocked out -Ability to switch after knocking a Pokemon out -Ability to freely change out Pokemon inbetween battles (aka opponents can't randomly switch all their mons on you) So variety vs difficulty is very hard to balance however I do see how it'd be annoy how one fight you've been fighting for hours due to either a leftovers or Life Orb could seem like everyone is doing it or it's a pain but I'd put that blame more on the rematch trainers since they can be absurdly difficult to the point it's not even funny. Like even shifting the game five levels they can still be way too high leveled to train off of. Due to that, along with the lack of an exp share, it can be a real pain to train up a new member without having one mon overleveled. Money I never honestly saw too much money as a problem. Of course, I played the role of hobo living off of super potions for 70% of the game so my funds were always really big even for the Episode 7 game. But for the department store, I could burn through 200,000 Poke like it is nothing and that's from the two floor that are now blocked off. I honestly feel like the game gives you just the right amount allowing for players to either use it to make their lives easier with items like Cotton Candy or Ice Cream, or save it to buy the really good stuff down the line such as linkstones, evolution stones, evolution items, etc.
