Emmanuel gazed upon the trees lined along the trail, hundreds of pairs of beady eyes pierced through the viridian leaves. "Looks like we just walked into a Beedrill nest. If we're unlucky, the Kakuna may be evolving soon, so let's hurry. I don't want to be on the receiving end of a Beedrill's Twineedle, and I'm sure Meggie wouldn't, either." It's likely that our arrival and their appearance was tied together...Um...do you live with your parents?" It struck Shelly that she had not heard anyone mentioned as parents, and that Zeta simply lived in the house with her pokemon. The house which they may have unwillingly had a hand in destroying. That was disturbing, but if it was true, the only excuse could be ignorance or the fact that they had been unable to control the situation. "Uhm....but trees don't need anything to live. The light from the God of Life keeps them alive. Also, what is s-sun..?" She answers only a part of his question. You can assume it's because you confused her. However, Kai explanation brings much better results. Not only did she capture the girl's interest by being all funny and stuff, she also got a spark of understanding to gleam in her widely-open eyes as she listened. "O-oh, brown, the trees that appeared were also brown! So that's...woo-wood? Wow!" She smiles as she nods at the tall girl's proposal. "I'd love to see it! Is A-Aeth? Aether? Kyu? Is it your house? Do you all live together, like I live together with my Pokemon? But what...what are parents?" She turned to Shelly who also asked about these...parents. GROUP 1 (KALVA, EMMANUEL, SENA) As the strike team approaches the end of the path, the Kakuna grow in number. All of them seem quite displeased at the trespassers on their territory, but are still powerless to do anything about it, so they just glare and glare. Meanwhile, the crystalline forest now gave full way to biological woodlands. The dense lush around the team is almost unpenetrable even by vision, but the path still remains, albeit overgrown with grass. The sound of flowing water intensifies the closer they get to the end of the path, and eventually, they come to a small clearing and realize that they've stepped into wet, muddy soil. As they look around, they see a short stone pillar with water flowing out of a relatively wide hole at its top. Had they lived in another time, they would've realized it was a well, but they lived now and they didn't know what a well was. This well overflows with water, as pure as the night sky above their heads. It seems to sparkle a bit, but something tells them it's supposed to do that. This water flows all across the clearing, being absorbed into the soil beneath their feet, making it moist and muddy. It seems wrong of it to do that, for whatever reason. Perhaps it wasn't supposed to get absorbed right back from where it came from? However, the team has more pressing concerns. At the far side of the well, they see a large Gabite, Meggie, but she's turned away from them and the aura around her seems way weaker than before. She seems backed against the well, by two Pokemon, two Beedrill. Their sharpened drills gleam in the moonlight and they're approaching Meggie with malicious intent visible in their eyes. Their buzzing muffles the sound of flowing water. Meggie tries to bite at them to shoo them off but it only makes them angrier. "Gyaa....." [Meggie hasn't noticed you. She's hurt from before. "Meggie, CATCH!" Emmanuel shouted, tossing the glowing branch like a javelin. The branch sank into the loamy soil firmly, right next to Meggie. He ran to the spot where the branch landed. "We had some misunderstandings, but we can start over, right?" He asked. "We're getting you back home. Let's go!" He gestured for her to follow him back to the path where they came from, away from the Beedrill nest. She wasn't certain whether Zeta simply didn't know about the concept, or whether she associated them with a different word. Come to think of it, how did she know how to speak? "Let's see...Have you ever heard the words 'Mom' or 'Mother', or 'Dad' or 'Father'? Your parents would be the people who...created you. You were born from them. Most people live with their parents while they grow up, and their parents teach them stuff, like how to walk and...talk. Um. Do you know who taught you how to speak? Do you have any memories of people who maybe did that?" Shelly stopped after she delivered this question, quite certain that she had failed in explaining what a parent was, but still curious about Zeta's origins. On top of all that, Meggie's legs seem to be dropping down into the muddy soil and her movement is impaired. Poochy's the first one to notice that Meggie is in serious trouble. She considers her options for a moment before jumping in front of Emmanuel as he tries to make their escape. "Boof!" She lets out a determined bark. She seems to want to fight the Beedrill, together with Meggie. If Meggie could reach the branch, she might be able to restore some of her lost health, and maybe even access much greater power, so you only need to distract them. Together with Meggie, will you fight the Beedrill, or will you leave her? He starts to miss Quina desperately - if only she was with him, then perhaps he could lend aid, or Quina would be able to think of a scheme to somehow help Meggie. But without her, it was like he was left without half of his soul. Only, he had one way to help, and that was to shield Meggie until she managed to recover. He walks briskly towards Meggie, and arms out, stands defiantly against the Beedrill. Please! Don't attack! We have only come here to rescue an injured member... Of course, he couldn't say these things out loud, but he always tried to communicate through spirit, somehow. And even if they were going to attack... he wouldn't blame them. But it was better he was stung than Meggie. He had to protect Meggie, the cost of which he thought none of. Meggies seems to not listen. Sena just sighes, "That guy and his Poochyena is battling two angry Beedrill to protect you, that guy over there really want to save you and I'm going to help you by healing you... but if you can't trust us then..." Music: En Route/Intensified [Meggie is on your side] [The field is overflowing with life...] [The field is muddy; your mobility is hindered-!!!] Poochy runs through the mud and throws herself at the Beedrill in front of Kalva as it readies its own attack, aiming at the defenseless boy with its stinger, coated in thick, violet poison. However, its attack is stopped midway through by the brave Poochyena's Tackle. The Beedrill tries to take a defensive position, covering itself with the poisonous stinger, but Poochy's attack is too strong to be stopped, and knocks the bug into the mud which covers its body and wings. .................................................................................................................................................................................................................... Her vision has cleared and she sees Kalva protecting her, Sena trying to communicate with her, and Emmanuel and Poochy coming to her rescue. She is scared, but she feels she can trust them...and so she carefully but swiftly grabs the branch from Sena's hands as Emmanuel and Poochy grant her an opening to do so, crushing it with her mighty jaw. The faint glow of the branch is absorbed into her body, taking the form of a mighty aura that flares around her. This aura, unlike the one from before, is pinkish in color and seems to ooze with life, but not in the agressive way. "Poochy, finish the Beedrill off with one more Tackle!" Poochy slammed into the same Beedrill once again with another powerful Tackle, slugging it down into the mud. As Emmanuel jumps the male Beedrill, he successfully manages to push its stingers into the mud as the Pokemon has been severely weakened. This one seems to try and get itself out of the mud, but it just can't muster up enough energy to do so. The team has successfully rescued Meggie! The content on the Gabite's worn out face is a reward in and on its own, and Kalva can be proud of himself for rushing to follow her instead of opting to wait and go to Zeta's house. The glow from the water flowing from the well eases everyone's wounds, restoring them to full health after the battle. The two Beedrill are still unconcious and stuck in the mud. If you want, you can pull them out and leave them at the side of the forest away from the well where the soil isn't as moist. There doesn't seem to be any imminent threat around, so maybe they should do that. ZETA'S CREW Music: Innocence of a curious star Zeta giggles as Kai shakes her. "Two parents? What's a mother like? Tell me!" She responds happily. "Father is a really nice person. I've lived with him ever since I've known about myself!" She turns to smile at Radovan. "What's a mama?" She asks Kai again. "My Father knows a lot of things! About gods of the old and how they're all gone now because of us. He told me that the God of Life used to be a great shining tree until some men tried to use it to destroy the world! But now it keeps this world alive by being at its center, isn't that great? Oh, oh, but Father never told me there were other people here with us! This is so exciting now that you've come!" "We could take a Beedrill with us. They weigh about 30 kilograms, so it's like giving an 8 year old a piggyback ride." He looked around the well. The beady eyes of Kakuna still hung from the branches. "Looks like we're lucky. They're not evolving yet." He said, with a tone of relief. "Let's get back to the crystal woods. We can patch Meggie up with the fallen branches on the way." Emmanuel took a picture of the stone structure sitting in the middle of the swamp, and led the way back. And what did she mean by a great shining tree? Kai wanted to see what that was, but now wasn't the time to ask Zeta more questions about it. "Reminds me of the tale of the Lone Star." Perhaps Zeta's father would tell her more about it. For now, she had something else to tell Zeta about. “A mama is like a Father, but different. Mama looks different from a Papa, but they still love you just the same.” Kai bobbed her head side-to-side as she kept walking, bobbing along to a jingle in her head. “My mama’s amazing. She builds cute mechamon for everyone, and they’re so adorable. We have one on us, too, but I don’t know where I put it.” Kai checked around on her person, failing to find the Porygon-AZ Mechamon they were given. "I don't suppose anyone knows where that went?" Kai looked towards Anthony and Shelly, having been with her since she got here. "Oh well, it’d probably pop up eventually. Maybe one of the three who went on their own have it." “I love my mama. She taught me everything I know.” Kai put her hand below her neck, fingers outstretched in a cocky manner. “Taught me all about machines, how to scrounge together materials to make something, and how to provide power to them.” Kai jumped up again, happy, even if a bit self-centered, to brag about her mother. “And she taught me how to smile like this.” Kai put a big grin on her face, exaggerated for Zeta. “What about your Papa? LucidRain Posted March 26, 2017 Share Posted March 26, 2017 Thank the star... she's not hurt so badly. Kalva pulls the Beedrills out of the mud gently, and leans them up against one of the trees. It didn't look like it was in life threatening danger, so he felt safe to leave them there. Hopefully, later they will regain their energy and fly back to their hives. Kalva then examines Meggie carefully. Was she hurt? She didn't seem like she sustained permanent damage, but it was not safe to judge her health solely on visuals - lessons from the Academy still held, even in a foreign world. Bubbles came out of the surface, indicating that the A-Comm was taking in water. He took the A-Comm out and split the water data into three smaller pieces. "HQ, Emmanuel here. I'm going to send a sample of the water that I just found in the unknown Nexus. 100 mL in volume." Hm, might as well as send some to the other group. He scrolled through the phone numbers in his A-Comm, eventually deciding to send it to Kai. "Kai, I'm sending you some water from this Nexus. It poured out from this weird stone structure. "So a Mother is like another Father? I have just one Father, so I guess I don't have a Mother." She holds on to Kai tight as she speaks and lets out a cheery giggle, obviously not really understanding the concept Kai was trying to introduce her to. She laughs when Kai makes a smiley grimace. "You're funny~!" She replies. "Father taught me everything I know about Pokemon and how great they are! He taught me how to gather Star Pieces and how to make potions to treat my friends' wounds. I love him!" The crew would notice that the path curves slightly to the left and starts climbing up a not very steep hill. The forest has cleared a bit and the crew can see a structure on top of the hill-a square structure with what appears to be a big tree on one side. Zeta chirps as she sees it and turns to Radovan. "Here it is! That's my house!" She says eagerly, pointing towards it. Murki flies up with a 'kraaaaaaaaaaa' and starts circling over you happily. You don't see any figures around the house. MEGGIE'S RESCUE TEAM (KALVA, EMMANUEL, SENA) The team successfully drop the Beedrill off by the side of the woodlands, the Kakuna stalking their every move for signs of any suspicious behavior. They remain silent, though. Meanwhile, Emmanuel gathers some of the water. He cannot send it to HQ immediately but he can send it to the rest of the Cadets here. Meggie looks at Kalva and growls a bit, but more out of confusion. She moves in a semi-wide arc around him to climb out of the muddy terrain. Her feet slump into the wet soil with every step. She seems unhurt though. Only dirty. [The team notices something yellow protruding from the ground next to the spot they left the Beedrill at. "Well, I don't really talk to my father much, so you and I aren't different." Only partially a lie, not that Kai would say more on the subject. Kai noticed a beep from her A-Comm, safe in its pocket. Keeping a good grip on Zeta with her right arm, she took the device out of her pocket and put it to her ear. “I got it, Emmanuel.” Looking at her A-Comm screen, Kai found a notification appearing for her. “Emmanuel just sent you 100ml of a strange liquid!” Not having anyway to hold the beverage on her person, Kai decided to find something to contain the water later on. “I hope you have some cups, Zeta. I could use one when we get to your home.” Looking as far as she could, Kai noticed the square structure atop the hill. “That’s it, huh?” Kai's legs began to move faster up the hill, leaving behind the others as she got closer to the peak. Her eyes looked towards the large tree that had been sticking out of the structure, an addition to the house that wasn't exactly mundane. Though really, that just made for nice stories to learn later. As she climbed up the large hill, Kai noticed the lack of figures around the house. “Is your papa not home right now?
