  1. Well, that hit a little close to home. Arlen thought, but letting it get to him would be counterproductive."Could you get to the point?" he asked. "You've already led us on a tour of the building, which you wouldn't have done if you planned to turn us down now. Taunting us won't get you very far." then he looked to Lars and sighed under his breath "Well, most of us." before bending down to receive the letter from the bulbasaur.
  2. He doesn't seem so bad. Arlen thought. His last employer wasn't even close to this friendly with his employees. "Arlen Eldes." he said with a smile. "You may have heard of me if you're into music." That was all he deemed necessary, given that the man had clearly read their files.
  3. Arlen chose a desk in the back of the ones available and stood in front of it. To tell the truth, he wasn't very interested in most of the tour after the library. The weapons training sounded like something he could get some use out of, especially since there would be at least something non-conventional, but...they hadn't told them what they would actually be doing yet. It also didn't seem quite right that they were giving them the layout of the building before even hiring them, either. That information could easily be used against them if someone drops out or fails these physical exams. Not that he was planning anything. It's just sometimes it helped to think like a criminal when your goal is catching them. I hope you're right about this agency, Dad. Because I'm not very impressed so far. he thought while writing out a claimed note and tossing it on the desk. Then he stowed his lute case under it and walked back to the elevators. "No, thanks." he said simply at Kayne's offer of coffee. He wasn't a very big fan of the stuff after watching former coworkers down pots of it over the course of only a few hours. "I'll take a few sugar packets, though. Auri always gets into my stuff at home, so maybe this will appease her a bit later."
  4. Swablu and Altaria for sure! Also a big fan of Drampa and Hoppip.
  5. A shooting range, huh? Arlen thought as he followed James through the rooms. He wasn't much a man for modern weapons, but it would still probably be useful at some point. Well. First, he'd need to find a gun. Or maybe... "What kind of weapons are we talking here? Just guns?" he asked.
  6. Seeing their allies take on the archer, Sherwyn decides to hold their ground and wait for the enemies to come to them.
  7. Not trying to brag here, but if I can do it using only flying types I'm pretty sure doing it with a regular team is possible.
  8. Auri chirped happily at Horace's praise, and stayed on his head for the rest of the elevator ride. "She's with me." Arlen said distractedly. "I suppose I should put her back in the ball though. Wouldn't want our...hosts...having a bad impression." then he took out the red and white ball and touched it to Auri's wing. "I know you don't like it in there, but I'll let you out when I can, okay? Might even get to perform when this is all over." the last part had her eyes light up even as she was being withdrawn. Then he followed James through the library. It was quite a nice place, all things considered. Quiet and out of view. Good for writing and composing, two of his favorite things. It didn't seem like anyone else felt the same, though, and even their guide was on edge. He found out why when they reached the doors at the end. The HR department, the businessman's worst nightmare. He almost laughed at the absurdity of it, but managed to stifle it to a small smile. He had dealt with a few of those in his time at the other agency, and it was never as bad as people made it out to be. Worse comes to worse, he could just have Auri sing over the intercom and they'd likely forget he was even there by the time they woke up. Not that he knew from experience or anything.
  9. Arlen slipped the forms onto the assistant's desk as he entered the elevator and stood against the back wall. He grinned a bit when Auri started hopping across the other's heads, but otherwise said nothing. She never did like enclosed spaces much. he thought.
  10. Welcome! I definitely know the feeling when it comes to food...
  11. Having filled out the forms far earlier than the others, Arlen was absently drawing musical scores on the back of one of the pages. His father had drilled into his head the importance of paperwork so many times that the answers came almost immediately. Some of the questions were a little odd, but from this kind of job it was to be expected. He sighed as the other people in the room started introducing themselves, and took a glance at Auri who was perched on the back of his chair. Always glad to meet new people, she let out a few chirps in response. "At least one of us is excited to be here." he thought. To put it simply, he wasn't sure about this particular job. They didn't provide him with very much information, but it was one his father insisted he take and was far better paying than the last few. After half-listening to the others and taking note of their names, but not much else, he pointed to himself and said "Arlen Eldes. Musician extraordinaire!" with an ironic grin at the end, too fast for most people to notice. Not wanting to be forgotten, Auri cried shortly after. "And my partner, Auri. Couldn't do it without her." then he fell quiet again and waited. He figured they'd want him to make friends with these people, but most of the people he worked with didn't last long in one way or another. Either way, he was content to lay back in his seat as Auri played with a stray strand of his hair.
  12. "These ones don't seem as tough. Strange." thought Sherwyn after watching the bouts of combat. Best not to underestimate them, though. "For Padstow!" they yelled before rushing the closest one. H9, Slim Lance
  13. Ill be 19 next month, and joined when I was 15. Lurked a bit before then though.
  14. Sherwyn was surprised to see so many people volunteer. Lyle made sense, as a friend and student of Roland, but they barely knew the rest of them. "Someone...could very well end up dead from this if we don't do things carefully." they said grimly before moving their attention to the kid with the white hair. "You can scout out a bit ahead of us, right? This armor makes too much noise to do that well, and you're right that getting the drop on them would be advantageous." Then, louder, for everyone to hear "The rest of you who wish to fight, gather your weapons and meet me outside. The old villages were the last place they were seen. We leave as soon as possible." Nobody could tell, but beneath the armor they were nearly shaking with anticipation. They had always wanted a post greater than guard duty but...they had never expected something like this.
  15. Sherwyn would've grinned beneath their helmet, had the situation not been what it was. Well, that was certainly something they weren't used to being asked. "Yes...yes of course." they muttered and turned to Reynauld. "I'm worried about the Commander. If he's still out there with those things...I don't know if even someone as strong as him could take them on by himself." it depressed them to admit that, but it was probably true. They could tell that those...things... were stronger than anything they had fought against in training, both back home and here. "You have seniority, my friend. I know we're meant to be guards but... it feels wrong to just leave him. What do you think we should do?"
  16. Nodding to nobody in particular, Sherwyn held Petunia's arms in a position above her head so she couldn't hurt herself any further. "Petunia...listen to me. I need you to calm down if you want us to help you. You ran all the way here. Can you tell us what happened?" They weren't sure if they were doing this right or not, but it was all they could think of to say. Petunia was one of the newer knights, and they hadn't really talked to her much before.
  17. After watching the scene go down in front of them, Sherwyn was, to tell the truth, scared out of their mind. "What the hell was that thing?! Magic? It has to be magic...there's no way..." they thought before replying "I don't know...I don't know if I WANT to know. That was...insane. Lucky. But insane." Their mind was still reeling from the encounter when they remembered Petunia. "We need to wake her up. I don't think there would be just the one. And where's Commander Roland? If he's still out there somewhere..." they grabbed Petunia's arm and tried to wake her up. Had she taken a hit from that thing? They called into the banquet hall "HEALER? Does anyone here know healing?"
  18. Beat her second try in mono-flying. Specs Charizard pretty much bodied her up until Klefki, and then I had Staraptor and Honchkrow clean up.
  19. Nah In fact I think they're helping things. I'm kinda sad about the demise of Fabled Quasar, but otherwise links have/are going to help out a lot of archetypes long thought dead.
  20. I went Reshiram route and ended up getting the single battle with her for my mono-flying run. Swoobat completely swept her up until Lapras, and then Hawlucha dealt with that. Field effect didn't really change anything for me, but that's usually how it goes with flying types. As for the story: I agree, I feel like there should've been a bit more in between the gyms. It felt a little rushed, but I don't think it heavily impacted my opinion on the episode.
  21. Sherwyn watched his fellow knights leave and wondered what was going on. They seemed too hurried for it to really be an animal. Either way, the door needed guarding (since Reynauld looked like he had fallen asleep on his feet...again), and they were secretly thankful they didn't have to sit at the table awkwardly while everyone else ate. They took a small plate of food anyway with them as they walked over though, since they knew how hard everyone had worked on it, and didn't want to stand out.
  22. Welcome! I certainly know the feel of becoming an adult...but that's beside the point. Hope you enjoy your stay!
  23. I go by Altariaknight occasionally, so take a guess. I'm not even really sure why I like it as much as I do, but it overtook Darkrai as my favorite pokemon a few years ago. Currently running through all the games in succession to get every ribbon possible on one (battle tower in gen 4 makes me sad).
  24. I know it's back to 1, but with how powercrept the game is right now it's not exactly doing anything. Yeah, if you get it turn 1 you have a fighting chance, but it's not searchable, so it doesn't happen often. It's even at 3 in the ocg and it isn't doing anything over there either, so I don't see why we can't get it back at multiples.
