As the head of the up-coming Revolution, I reached out to the community for gym leaders and evil team admins. Did the Reborn team do this, or were their gym leaders conceptualized by the team themselves?

I-- thought it was pretty clear by now that it was all based on the league, sans some meteor characters. The leaders of the league were themselves largely based on their actors + some changes to appearance, name and other embellishments of personality.

Not sure if this has been asked, but what goes into deciding what Pokemon get axed or moved in the game?

Ika's link is better answer, but tl;dr if a pokemon is sort of like a 'must pick up' for its point in the game I'm likely to move it back, or if it doesn't get much attention then I'll try to find some way to make it potentially relevant (moving it earlier to make it more usable, making a trade for it, or some event so that it's at least memorable, etc.) That's very in-general though. Sometimes things get axed for other reasons.

Like I'll be moving Absol back in E16, not because it's too strong, but because I have a neat idea for it.

Why Reborn will have 19 episodes and not for example 15 or 20? When and why that number was decided?

18 badges + an episode because badges were missed

Would be 20 but one episode will have 2 badges.

Will every TM and Move Tutor be available before the Elite Four?

What about the Mega Ring? Since gym leaders now have Megas, I'd say it'd be fair if we could get to use at least a few of them. I think I read somewhere that it's probably post-game content, but I'm not sure.

Will we have to fight level 100+ Pokémon (E4 and Champion battles, especially rematches)?

No promises to any of it.

Is it likely that a well-preforming Pokemon only found in the Mystery Egg would be axed, if it was found to be too good? Say... Volcarona x.x

Reborn 16 being released on 1 April, 2016. Wouldn't that be a great pun if it takes about two months?

Will future episodes take as long as Ep16 to develop or is this an exception?

Amethyst had said this Episode was going to take longer from the get go. Then she decided to add a whole slew of new move animations and assemble a team to do them, and she reviews them. Then she had health concerns and was unable to use her hands for a few weeks.

In short, it shouldn't, but nobody knows what the future truly holds.

I have a question.

It's not impossible but that doesn't have the issue other strong Pokemon do (hence me being willing to put things like Volcarona in at all). Even if someone wants to get Volcarona every run, with a 1/18 chance, it's not gonna happen (unless they're willing to reset their playthrough every time in which case more power to them). So, even if the egg pokemon is really strong, it's still promoting diversity between teams and playthroughs.

So you're saying episode 19 will have a badge, the E4 and ending, and the aftergame all at once?

yeah rip me tbh

it'll almost certainly take longer than e16

Will future episodes take as long as Ep16 to develop or is this an exception?

I would like nothing more than to say this is going to be the exception but I really can't promise that. Historically every episode has taken longer than the last to do, so all patterns to this point say that subsequent episodes will take even longer.

The reason for this is that there's more existing game that needs fixing/changing/polishing etc. I mean looking at the status thread currently I basically have not, after all this time, started work on the new content for E16 yet (which is -actually- why I said it was going to take forever). It's all been dealing with past content. ... plus fields.

Anyway, I've been making an effort to chill out on taking down changes for previous content. They say perfectionism is a killer, and yeah it is, so going forward I'm going to try and just settle with things as they are and hopefully have the focus be mainly on new content. How successful I'll be or how much of a difference it'll make, we'll see.

(However with animations and AI upgrades in the mix for the forseeable future, that's still a sizable chunk of slow regardless)

I have a question.

I lift... the spirits of everyone around me <3

When will the Talonflame line be added? Also, because of the game's length, will the max level cap be raised to make up for the length of the game?

Eventually.

I don't want to raise it if I don't have to. As it is right now I thiiink that I can fit the story in under level 100. However, I've been playing with the idea of having the post-game raise the cap (otherwise all those sidequests might end up being pretty lame). I'm not set either way, and I'm open to feedback on the matter.

I don't know if you've answered this before, but why 19?

Why not a clean and straightforward episode count of 20?

Personally, I would love it if the Elite Four were saved for their own episode. The anticipation of waiting for the final challenge after earning the last badge would be so sweet.

Ok a few questions from me:

Q:what feature, plot point, mechanic or event while coming up with the idea for it felt was just going to be amazing but when you were through with it you were ready to kill everyone who played the game through the point?

Q:What 1st mega introduction do you personally want to add to the game regardless of even if it will be available post game?

Q:Will episode 19 be out before 3016?

Q:can we expect magikarp to come back before the Elite 4 any hopes at all?

Hi, I'm Kurobotsune. I've been programmed to go back in time to announce that Reborn's Episode 19 was succesfully released January 1st, 3017 00:00:01.

This is a message from the developers:

We've failed you. We've failed you all. May God have mercy on our souls.

Happy to be of service!

From what I can tell, there'll be an Elite 8 from what I've heard.

Literally no information about the elite 4 has been revealed, but I can assure you that there isn't any type of elite 8 given that they're referred to in-game as the "elite four"

Don't ever change Ame, unless that change is you deciding to hit the Gym.

will be there any spin-off game after Reborn?

By Amethyst? I'm pretty sure she has no plans to do Reborn spin off games, but wouldn't be opposed to others perhaps doing so. She'll be focussing on her own project, Starlight Divide.

I'm actually curious as to what each staff member's favorite music track, pokemon, and gym leader in the game is,

Oh and on Shade's gym, that gym theme is toooooo sick. It's so heavy and creepy. I think you said it was a reverse version of the regular gym theme with modifications or something? What were the details on that one's creation? What tools/instruments did you use on it?

Yes, I saw. That's not a sufficient answer.

I'm asking WHY 19 is being chosen specifically over 20.

20 is a nice, elegant number. Having only 19 episodes disrupts an observably consistent pattern in the structure of the game. Shoving two badges into a single episode only makes sense if they're obtained simultaneously, while including the final badge AND the Elite Four in the same episode will feel awkward and lacking in suspense.

I can understand earning two badges in a single episode if it makes sense plot-wise, but the benefits of a 20th episode will be threefold:

1. Increasing the episode count to 20 gives it a much more "complete" feeling, and makes the tracking of events a lot simpler

2. It retains the current structure of Reborn episode releases (which is, "New area, new event(s), gym battle") while saving the player's final challenge for its own separate episode

3. It helps to bridge the gap between the 17th badge and the end of the game, giving players something new to do during the midway point between those two events

I trust that Amethyst has a plan, though, and I am eager to hear it.

(And now let the flood of whiny "omg ur so wrong!!1" naysaying commence!)

Oh i actually agree with you also it would not increase the workload or development time in any significant way (as far as i can tell) because the content would be the same.

Oh, sorry. I thought you were sorta implying, "the answer's right above you, READ THE THREAD YA SCRUBLORD"

(I should clarify that I'm not actually accusing anyone of being whiny, but that I fully expect my arguments to be met with contention.)

When the full game is released, it won't be called episode 19 anyway. So the numbers won't matter then. As for the two badge one episode thing, Ame obviously decided plot wise that there isn't enough reason to prevent the player from getting two badges in one episode. Do you really want her to make up some silly forced reason to draw out the game just to get the episode count to 20? I sure don't

I literally addressed this exact point.

So let me reiterate in big, readable letters so you don't miss it.

THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH TWO BADGES IN ONE EPISODE, IF IT MAKES LOGICAL SENSE FROM A STORY PERSPECTIVE.

/HOWEVER/, CREATING A SEPARATE EPISODE FOR THE ELITE FOUR IS ARGUABLY A BETTER DECISION FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE GAME.
