Well I'm glad to see this post still gets some modicum of activity, but it's purpose was more or less an attempt to bridge the gap between the new users and then-veterans at the start of 2017. Most of the people described in the first few pages of this thread aren't really active anymore, so maybe it'd be smarter to just make a new one or abandon the idea altogether. I was bored one day and started looking for new games. Then I was like "I enjoyed Pokémon when I was a kid I should look it up" And then I came across an article commenting the 10 pokémon games you have to try and went "wait there's more than 10 pokémon games????" I didn't think I'd be here again. It's been a while since we've spoken.
We start talking, and I remember all the times we've spent together. It always tasted the same for the first few words.You're bitter, dark, and cruel. You remind me of the worst in me. You make me wish you were never there.

A few words in and I remember why I always came to you. A few words in and the buzzing in my head tells me I'm losing myself once again.

Upon hearing the results of the election I rushed to the forums and was immediately disappointed - Not because Trump won, but because I was expecting to see the Star Wars "This is how democracy dies" quote.

The problem I have with this is the inconsistent rhyming. I've illustrated this with letters besides each sentence - Usually you'll stick to the ABAB format when you want to rhyme, and I don't personally mind switching it up - I'll personally use a diferent type of rhyming system in each poem, usually doing something like AABB or ABBA or something like that, or even switch up the way each rhyme is laid out between verses, but the issue is consistency. If something is going to rhyme, make it rhyme all the way through* since it otherwise feels like you either didn't put in a lot of effort into t

The way I see positioning working out is by either just using grid systems and having that be sadly the only requisite the system has (which is "sort-of-okay" in my book since most tabletops DO use grid systems and that's just the best way of doing it) or having the host themselves manage distance by just using meters/measurements I.E. "A wind archer can move up to 10m every turn. Their attack range is 50m. In this battle you're 100m away from the nearest enemy - This enemy moves 30m towards you" and so on that'd take a little more imagination to put the scene together, but it's doable. Ei

So with the advent of Pyon's Fire Emblem on the Forums game I've realized it was a good time to put into execution an idea that I've been toying with for the better part of this year - An universal system for playing tabletop RPGs on the forums, in a format that is easy to learn, easy to administer, and simple to customize, thus giving both DMs-to-be and players both new and old a grasp on the system with a simple glance.
