  2. Came back from seeing Captain Marvel. I really liked it, TBH I enjoyed it more than the last avengers movie and homecoming.

    1. Yahen

Yahy watched Cap marvel last week and it was coooooooly cool

Yahy also loved infinity war. Not sure which one i liked more. I ate popcorn on IW but lots of candy on cap marvel

So i'll go with mah gal Carol

  3. Beat adrienne, took 5 tries. Megawile kept ruining things as it would one-shot just about everything and sucker punch dhelmise for a OHKO which sucked. Plus I had nothing SE against it if it was on the fairy tale field. I had to get  adrienne's whimsicott to first set tailwind(sometimes it would just spam dazzling gleam), then have trevenant set a trick room so it could outspeed megawile when it showed up on the field. By using destiny bond trev was able to take out megawile which let silvally and dhelmise clean house with their field buffed  anchor shots and iron heads. The hard part was getting megawile KO'd, the rest of adrienne's team wasn't that bad in comparison.

You know wiseglasses for finding 10 people is a pretty lame prize.

It wouldn't really be useful vs Titania because it turns into a Steel move, which here would've won you the game pretty much. Shame about the Lilligant tho, imo it's by far one of the best Grass types you can have.

    3. Monochrome_Complex

Ahhhh that's why, I didn't know it turned into a steel move.

    4. Another Felix

      Another Felix

I struggled with xem a lot too. Thankfully, I was able to cheese the hell out of him with Destiny Bond Sharpedo to off Granbull and Quick Claw Reuniclus to set up Light Screen before promptly dying, then setting up with Shift Gear Klinklang and my Delphox to sweep. Mega Mawile was sent out before Whimsicott came out to use Tailwind and turn it into a Fairy Tale field, so Delphox took it down with one Flamethrower.

  4. It took me like 5 tries to beat victoria at devon. One time I was just like one hit away but lucario just swept the remainder of the team.  Mienshao's knock off and incineroar kind of made using the trick room strat a tad tricky. Eventually i found a way to pull it off reliably. I beat arclight first try, he's much easier in comparison IMO.

  5. Guys be careful of going on twitter right now, there's currently a mass shooting video flying around(possibly the worst in recent new zealand history) and it's freakin awful.  Screw these white supremacists terrorists and sites like 8chan that entertain and promote them.

holy shit... humanity has lowered itself once more

    3. Ojama Yellow

      Ojama Yellow

video has been removed from pretty much everywhere unless youre really trying to find it, probably. so its safe to come out now.

my condolences to all people and families that have been caught up in this. this is inexcusable and disgusting.

    4. JoStarNight

My condolences to everyone affected by this heinous and despicable act.

  6. Okay so I fought ciel. And...I won. like really easily. In fact it was probably the easiest  gym battle since flobot.

I taught trevenant trick room, and grinded up an abamasnow I caught a while back, and WOW, abamasnow is a monster in trick room.

For togekiss I had roserade use two venoshocks which KO'd it, as she was able to take one air slash, if barely.

Oricorio was next, and this next move was crucial. Trevenant barely survived an air slash to pull of trick room, and then sacrificed herself via destiny bond to take down ori. Hard part over with.

Abamasnow takes center stage now and steals the show. Mine had like 2 iVs in special attack and a -spd + special defense nature so I EV'd it to ensure blizzard actually kills. minior, gliscor, noivern all fall like dominoes and megataria barely survives, no doubt due to the poor IVs. The nature actually ends up being a good thing as abamasnow survives with 3 HP and finishes her with ice shard.

You'd expect the flying leader to be the hardest of the circus trio, but she ironically was  the easiest.

    1. Azeria

you didn't just throw lilligant at her and insta win?

  7. Sky drop STILL isn't fixed?

  8. So like I was having a bit of a hard time with fern/blake, and after 3 attempts I went back and switched shiftry for leavanny, whom I lead with. It made a big difference as I was able to finally beat them, and funnily enough solaris/orderly took only one attempt and felt much easier. Julia put in a lot of work this time.

But alas....it's time for ciel. RIP.

  9. Taka's chatot can go to hell. He solo'd nearly the entire team. I could deal with everyone else(even minior loses to meganium 1 on 1) but chatot is a nightmare. Took like 5 tries to beat taka. I did find a neat trick for his komala, which is to use trick or treat and then use shadow sneak. His only non-normal damaging move is sucker punch which loses due to priority.

I've also gotten sivally(grass). Let me tell you, having flamethrower  alone helps immensely against steel types who have otherwise been troublesome entire game.

  10. Ugh screw this turtwig puzzle. I'll just try to make do without him.

I just don't have the patience for it right now. Maybe if titania gives me too hard a time I will.

    3. Neco

If you take a look in your graphics folder, you can see a solved puzzle under pictures --> Puzzles. You could argue that this is somewhat cheating, but seeing the completed picture helps immensely (unless you're already doing that).

    4. Monochrome_Complex

I haven't looked at the picture since I wanted to try and figure it out legit but I'm too impatient right now haha. I'll just try again later.

  11. Well terra gave more trouble than expected, Garchomp would basically solo the entire team. His flamethrower hit really hard, felt like I had to have rain up when he came out otherwise he'd 1-2 shot everything. I thought setting grass field would help with him(it did help with quagsire/palossand) but it had the opposite effect as it just buffed flamethrower.  I ended up teaching rain dance to roserade in place of venoshock for this fight which helped. I ended up taking garchomp down by having roserade use toxic and using protect/fake out/switching to ludicolo to stall the poison out.  The rest of her team was relatively easy, but garchomp was ridiculous. It took about 5 attempts total.

  12. I guess I'll go chase down Terra now. Actually one of my favorite parts of the game, and since I got into reoborn on episode 14 it's kind of the first "final boss" of Reborn I've fought haha. I'm not expecting her to give me too hard a time.

    1. Vinnie

Sorry about the misinformation on that other status update but yeah, Terra was amazing. It's slightly nostalgic but also really humorous to see your own nostalgia be twisted.

    2. Monochrome_Complex

Haha yeah, and no worries about the other update.  Gotta say, the whole glitch field  idea and terra being battled inside the computer was very clever and creative. The dialogue too  of course.

    3. Vinnie

A lot of the glitched text feels like one big meme but it's still neat. The glitch field is amazing too. Aside from a couple random showdown games, I've never played gen 1 competitive pokemon, so getting to play around with the bugs, the old pre-phys/spec split and critical hit chance is really fun.

  13. Despite being an ice specialist, Blake was actually pretty easy. Beat him first try and by setting up sunny day and grassy terrain I was able to to rip him apart.

  14. Charlotte down.  I initially tried fighting her with a lvl 62 ludicolo and that simply wasn't cutting it, so after 4 or 5 tries I had to do some grinding. I got ludicolo up to 70 and meganium to 67 which made the fight a LOT more manageable as ludicolo was able to finish off darminitan(who was hit with fake out previous turn) 2nd turn  whereas it couldn't before. Surf spam works better than I expected here, though you should be doing it in the rain. With rain and light screen charlotte's heat waves weren't that scary and i even gave gourgeist a weakness policy so it could deal some extra hurt on Ninetales. Ludicolo was an MVP this fight.

I also got trevenant as destiny bond could come in handy later on.

Charlotte was tough but mainly because my best mons against here weren't leveled enough. Once I grinded she wasn't too terrible.

  15. Haha aster and eclipse were a piece of cake. Their team has a crippling weakness to grass save for like 3 pokemon(vileplume does have double resist though) and after a growth in sun set by cherrim, roserade was able to sweep them. Light screen didn't even help them lol.

I have a question, does fury badge raise the cap to 70 or 75?

    2. Azeria

70, Cinder raises it to 75

    3. Q-Jei

Your level can't go above 70 until you've defeated Charlotte. However, you can still challenge her with a team of level 70 Pokemon and increase your level during this fight as disobedience will only take effect when the battle will be over.

    4. Monochrome_Complex

Thanks guys, I was able to beat her.

  16. ...I just realized I've been pronouncing dragalge's name wrong, it's supposed to be like dra-gal-jee I think, think like dragon + algae. I've been saying druh-gal -gay all this time lol.

    1. Autumn Zephyr

      Autumn Zephyr

I haven't even been pronouncing the final vowel, so it just sort of stops at the g. I'm not to bothered by it, though- everyone I know (including the anime) *technically* mispronounces charizard all the time, after all.

    2. Monochrome_Complex

Let's not even get started on suicune lol.

  17. Okay that explains it. Ah was hoping to have it before charlotte but alas.
  18. I hate critical hits in pokemon. So much.

Okay so Samson was hell. I actually had to resort to seeds for a change because hawlucha was just too OP otherwise and would birdbang everyone. I did figure out a good strat though: lead off with tangrowth(I used shiftry later attempts since he actually outspeeds hariyama)to set up grassy terrain(boosted with amp rock), then send out Gogoat with elemental seed for the def boost/health regen. Stack up 3 bulk ups(4 if hariyama KO'd shiftry right away but it only happened once), KO hariyama(with grass pelt gogoat becomes a physical fortress on grassy terrain so hariyama can hardly deal damage)  and samson sends out hawlucha. Hawlucha would always lead with swords dance, so I used leaf blade to bring him to yellow(or OHKO on crit which happened only once), next turn he would use roost which would remove his grass resist and get OHKO by leaf blade that turn. After that blaziken would show up, then mienshao, and lucario, all of whom Gogoat could take on alone provided she didn't get hit by a critical somewhere.

Problem is,  samson would nail a critical eventually every time I attempted this. Once it was a blaze kick, first time I pulled this strat off mienshao's first acrobatics was a critical. One egregious case was when hawlucha actually used flying press instead of roost, which he only did once out of the numerous times I tried this strat, and of course it was a critical. This had me suspecting that the AI *knows* when it'll get a critical and take appropriate action, as if flying press wasn't a crit it wouldn't have KO'd.

Eventually I had a good stroke of luck and manged to get to conkledurr, landed a leaf blade to bring him to yellow, then got..crit by 9000 brick break :I Thankfully big top was long back by then and I had jumpluff use acrobatics boosted by the synthetic seed while samson healed with a potion, which didn't help him at all lol.

But jeez that fight was frustrating. Being slightly underlevelled(63 was my highest for this battle) didn't help either, but hawlucha is just so stupid in this fight, as soon as he's on big top everything just dies. This badge took a lot of attempts, first to simply find a working strategy against hawlucha and then several attempts getting the strategy to work without being ruined by bad luck. I'm sooooo glad I got Gogoat though, otherwise I wouldn't have been able to win this fight.

      >may charlotte have mercy

    3. Monochrome_Complex

I never picked up petilil since I didn't really need her thus far and it's too late to get her ATM anyway since I'm in the circus arc but yeah she would've been a big help lol. Kind of regret not doing so before.

TBH I'm more concerned about ciel than charlotte, as I at least have ludicolo and rain dance for charlotte.

    4. Neco

Charlotte shouldn't be too difficult, I found her to be one of the easiest leaders in my Mono-Grass run, but I permanently changed the field in turn 1 and set rain afterwards. Paired with some Surf/Ancient Power boost for my Cradily plus Quick Claw luck pretty much destroyed her team. Ciel, however, was another experience and gave me major problems, but was still manageable in the end

  19. Are you sure turtwig's location is correct? The green tent by the ice cream man has the dive puzzle but no turtwig. Is it only post-samson or something? I feel that should be specified in the guide if so.
  20. I...don't like Bennet. Even after 18 I still don't like Bennet. Plus it feels like he got off easy?

    1. Abyssreaper99

Bennett has always been a guy who has made a terrible mistake. Yes he was a bit of a creep but I think we need more time to see how the experience working with El has changed him as a person. I'm still unsure of him myself but let's see how he develops in E19

    2. lilyawaka

Me neither lmao I never really felt bad for him and his whole “I’m gonna be the best so my sister will love me romantically” thing. He made me v uncomfortable

  21. luna wasn't hard, but Reborn was being really annoying fighting her RNG wise. I once got down to umbreon and it survived an x-scissor that previously brought it from full to yellow, then kept spamming moonlight and became Jesus, that mess SUCKED. Absol went down instantly to leavanny, but honchkrow was her biggest threat as brave bird one-shot everything except gogoat who it brought to red and tangrowth on a bad roll. I had about 2 attempts where it got out of hand with moxie and just steamrolled the team so I ended up having to send out gogoat to get hit(use milk drink same turn so it could fight later), switch it out to tangrowth so the recoil would bring honchknrow low enough for leavanny to finish off.  Bisharp was...a pushover actually, as it kept spamming knock off which allowed gogoat to stack bulk ups while drinking milk. However it DID paralyze her with thunder wave, which while useful against umbreon since toxic won't work it screwed me over later against weavile who *happened* to land a critical poison jab on a turn following paralysis. Weavile had 1Hp too so it felt like the game was seriously BSing me at that point.  The paralysis was one thing, but the critical right after, when it was needed most? Timing couldn't be worse. Ludicolo softened up tyranitar enough for leavanny to get a fell sting and OHKO umbreon, winning the match. This felt like a match that wasn't really hard(once I figured how to handle honch), but bad rolls and pokemon's obnoxious critical mechanics made it a bit frustrating.

  22. Wait hold up

Volbeat is supposed to look like a greaser? His default art art is like him popping his "collar?' and trying to look tough? Mind blown.

I  always thought he looked like a vain showoff trying to strut his stuff on a walkway, which fits into fireflies flashing for mates. It also made him lame because he's nowhere good enough to be acting like that lol.

The greaser thing makes him kind of awesome. Like the black part is supposed to be like a leather jacket., and the red part an exgaggerated collar that he's popping up. I'm guessing illumise' hair is supposed to be like retro girl too? That's crazy, and here I used to think they were forgettable, kind of dorky looking pokemon. Shelly didn't improve my affinity for them either lol.

    Gamefreak are geniuses.

    1. Wolfox

I suddenly like Volbeat a lot more

  23. We'll see if this leak is real. If so, Kalos might get some more fleshing out which is cool.
  24. Only took two tries to beat arceus this time, roserade landed the final blow after getting a lucky judgement that ended up being grass or water.  She was in the red and my last pokemon, so it was a cool finish.

Radomus actually gave a bit of trouble for once, as his reuniclus is quite bulky and if he pulled off trick room it made his slowking a threat. Plus I roserade isn't much good this fight so my strongest pokemon wasn't an option. I had to switch out jumpluff for gogoat, which was a smart choice as gogoat could stack bulk ups and tank metagross/gallade's attacks. It's a good thing I got shiftry back to level, as he was excellent in this fight with fake out and faint attack, both of which get buffed on the field. Gardevoir went down in one turn to a fake out and +2 leaf blade from gogoat.  It took about 4 attempts.

  25. The gravity rush 2 nevi battle theme sounds like something that'd fit as a trainer battle theme in a pokemon game.
