One of the best things about pokemon is using a pokemon you never gave much thought to before and finding a new appreciation for it when you discover its potential and how useful it can be. Sudowoodo and Kecleon are putting in work this playthrough. Sudowoodo's sturdy + counter is great for cheap KOs and Kecleon with protean is not only sneaky, but it's a great compliment to my slow team since it learns trick room. Both were key in beating Samson who took only 2 tries. I added Quilfish as well who not only gets intimidate and can set hazards, but d-bond too? Nifty pokemon.

Mad salty I lost to Bennet at Iolia valley and have to walk all the way from lapis ward. Still one of my least favorite maps in the game.
And then Luna being like, the worst gym battle in the game doesn't do it any favors either. After beating her I realized there was a heal shard outside her room I missed the first time. Goddangit lol.

She's easier than flobot I swear. 3 of her pokemon have a double weakness to fighting, one is made of tissue(Absol) and her field is boring and too honest(all it does is seemingly increase her damage? that's it?) . Jubjub bird is probably her most threatening pokemon and Umbreon can take hits but doesn't hit back all that hard.
I imagine if gen 8 pokemon were ever added she'd have Grimmsnarl but I feel like her field needs a rework. It's a pretty basic field for that point of the game, especially coming off Radomus' field which was mad creative even if he's one of the easier leaders. And while the circus field is *annoying* I respect the creativity and how Samson takes advanatge of it. But luna's feels like it does the bare minumum in a game with a lot of creativity in how the leaders utilize their fields.

I still don't get why Radomus did the whole butler thing with El. Like couldn't he have gotten the brooch from him without inviting him to the manor? El was already hypnotized in the aerie. In fact why didn't he take it then?
-
Note that at this point Luna still has the brooch, he's taking the Amethyst Pendant off El.
A possible theory (but of course it's a lot of speculation) is that (spoilers for the next story part, but I think you're past that)
SpoilerRadomus wants El to have the brooch.
You're right, and even after El shakes off the hypnosis, it looks pretty clear that Radomus could have rescued Luna in a heartbeat without us. So: why didn't he? Because he wanted a certain outcome to be achieved instead. And the only significant outcomes of that arc seem to be the brooch, the pendant and Bennett.
I don't think Radomus has any particular interest in (or particularly cares for) Bennett.
Although Gossip Gardevoir gets to mock Bennett in front of everyone so perhaps that could have been a bonus? It also seems a bit contrived to allow an unpredictable hostage situation just to get a jewel that was already in his hands. The MC wouldn't have "seriously" reclaimed it even if Radomus chose to keep it.
So the brooch remains. I think I can find a deeper reason, but that's more story spoilers.
But even then, it doesn't quite make sense (why not just give El the brooch?).

Usually Noel gives me a fight but this might be the first time I beat him in one attempt. Decidueye basically walked over Clefable since she can't hurt him much due to the rain and his special bulk + field regen being good enough to tank her moonblasts. Since leaf blade gets powered up on the grass field he was hurting her faster than she could heal. I daresay Noel has been one of the easiest leaders thus far this playthrough, which rarely happens for me. I did have a good team for him this time though: Scrafty, Sawk, Sudowoodo and Decideye were enough to win it.

Well now it's always set to rain during that fight so setting the field ablaze wasn't an option despite having Camerupt, plus it actually helped since it weakens Noel's hidden power. I didn't have anyone to use sludge wave so I figure it's better to use the grass field to my advantage. Grass types are good in this fight now, just have something to deal with swellow. Sudowoodo handled him no problem.

1st time using sudowoodo in a playthrough and he's actually legit? Sturdy + counter makes that Garchomp fight a breeze. Might be a good idea to lead with a pyukumuku or two first to guarantee the KO.

Started up a new playthrough of Reborn after not playing for like a year only to find myself struggling against Julia lol. Between the retries and grinding it took me nearly an hour. Thankfully Flobot I got first try, Dartrix runs half of her squad for free. But yeah Juilia gave me a lot more trouble than I remember.

Xenoverse's new content started today and the amount of downloads overloaded the servers meaning you can't exactly downloaded right now lol.

Gotta love that feel when you discover a new song you like and just want to keep listening.

IT'S OVER
-gets sent back to title screen, resulting in lost progress-
Who thought this was a good idea?

In Pokemon Empire losing certain fights prompts the ITS OVER message to play and boots you back to the title screen. Thing is it's not really communicated well which fights do so and it's easy to lose progress as a result of losing said fights. It's happened to me twice so far and I really dislike this design choice.
