  1. water sucks early game, but with the right starter it's manageable. Julia isn't really the issue, moreso florina and the tangrowths, as well as fern's dartrix unless you have icy wind. But you do get a steady stream of mons i guess. steel seems like it would kind of suck early game. You have what, piplup and burmy first gym? Well wormadam does get quiver dance on evolution which is a godsend for her I guess. Klink is your next one I think and then after that I'm not sure. Actually I do want to try this one day since I've never played with empoleon in reborn. Togedamaru is freakin legit BTW, do NOT sleep on him, a field changer with sturdy and nuzzle is a boon that shouldn't be overlooked. I'm doing grass right now. Despite the typing's flaws you can get some pretty strong pokemon early on, with roselia being a monster. I picked chikorita which made things harder than if I had picked rowlett or even chespin(dat bulletproof helps so much against tangrowth) but so far it's been fun and grass gets some high damaging moves earlier than most other types, like roselia gets giga drain by 25 and cherrim gets petal dance really early too. Speaking of, this run gave me a new appreciation for cherrim. She sucks at first(only offensive move being tackle for like a good 15 levels) but Sunny day + growth can turn your grass types into hard hitting juggernauts, especially with giga drain to sap back health lost during set up. Resist don't even matter, roselia with a sunny growth hits HARD. I swept flobot using this strat and roselia was even able to OHKO cradily. You also get a nice variety of mons to choose from after julia, well provided the weather is on your side. I still haven't gotten lotad, hopefully before Cal... That said, that first tangrowth was a massive pain. I think it's one of the hardest fights in a grass run. You can powerlevel and set up on the later two since they're the last pokemon out but man, the first one sucked. It's probably much easier with chespin or rowlett, but bayleef couldn't do jack to it and I'm not sure how grotle/grovyle/ivysaur/servine would fare. Contrary might come in handy for acid spray but then servine's damage is poor so either way it's a long fight. Corey isn't as bad as I thought he would be, I ended up beating him 1st try. Shelly is tough as you'd expect. Shade isn't too bad if you know what you're doing. The 2nd fern fight is his hardest one(dartrix can take a lot of punishment at this point and can hit just about everyone for SE damage) so far, and Cain's nidoking later on can tear you up pretty badly if you don't respect its speed. Jumpluff is great. Roselia is great, and cherrim has been great too TBH. Gloom/oddish were awesome early on but I've had her benched since corey, hopefully I find a leaf stone underground so she won't become obsolete. I used vileplume in rejuv and he was pretty cool. Good thing about grass is that you get a lot of options, that said there's a lot of overlap in weaknesses and fire-types have remained a consistent problem for me. Lotad could fix that but the game refuses to rain lol. Also, nature power gets great use in grass run. dark has a lot of options early on: litten and froakie are both excellent, stunky starts off pitiful but can be pretty useful if you know how to use him right), poocheyena can carry you until after shade, pancham is solid much of the game, I hear sharpedo is alright too...dark seems like it'd be fun. I never tried ghost. I think nincada is available early though? rowlett seems good for reborn at least. drifloon and pumpkaboo are not bad and useful even if just for d-bond. First gym seems like a struggle though. Oriocorio FTL. electric benefits from a lot of fields but you'll have to sacrifice your starter. I feel tangrowth would be kind of rough, though I suppose pachirisu could bide him to death. But then you have to assume you'll even get pachi lol. You could just end up stuck with grubbin for julia hahaha.
  2. Beat shade. Had to equip gourgeist with a ghost gem to ensure shadow sneak KO'd gengar and doublade was a bit of a hassle but otherwise the match went smoothly. Keeping his team off the short cicuit field makes it far more manageable. With grassy terrain cherrim was able to 2HKO undisguised mimikyu, who I paralyzed earlier with jumpluff so he was able to outspeed him too. Shade is easier than shelly that's for sure.

  3. I actually have the seel egg from the daycare I think. I could trade it to you if you want.
  4. Good luck! Sneasel as a starter is cool, though you won't be getting weavile for a while lol. I actually quite like ice as a type, always have. I'm guessing vanillite is your next mon, but flobot's breloom might give you trouble.
  5. Took nearly an hour but I finally beat her. Shelly is no doubt one of the hardest leaders in Reborn period.  Illumise's  rain dances are extremely annoying as anortih, easily shelly's most dangerous pokemon aside from yanmega, gets swift swim off it and becomes near impossible to outspeed at this point of the game unless you're packing a SSer of your own.  Turns out my key to winning was leading with roselia and cherrim, having roselia set up a growth to take advantage of the field boost, and cherrim to use sunny day to cancel out illumise' rain. This also creates a rainbow field which is key, as nature power becomes a buffed aurora beam and with +1(as masquierain leads with struggle bug) roselia can OHKO both masquerain AND Yanmega(she can survive at least one air cutter, even a critical from full health). lso cherrim improves special defense while in sunny mode which is pretty nice, I'm surprised at how useful he's been so far.  Keeping the rain off the field makes anortih so much more manageable, and illumise will keep spamming rain dance so long as you keep changing the weather unless one of your mons is in critical health which causes her to use struggle bug. Anorith outside rain is slow and gets one shot by roselia's giga drain. Araquanid looks tough but isn't really, a strong physical attacker can cut him down pretty easy, I used leavanny. For the fireflies I had jumpluff clean up via acrobatics.  Easily one of the hardest fights thus far,  but if you play your fields correctly and keep freakin anorith out the rain it's a winnable fight.

Was roselia always this beastly? I used to think it was a novelty mon back in the day (pre gen 4) but it's an early game hero and MVP so far. It's easily the best grass/poison type early game.

Also I have a leaf stone now, but who to use it on? Gloom, pansage, or should I save it for nuzleaf? I think I'll go with the last...

  6. About to take on shelly with a monograss team. RIP me.

Jumpluff and Swift Swim-Ludicolo helped me in my monograss run. Especially if you EV trained beforehand. If you are set with your Oddish/Bellsprout movesets, don't forget the Leafstone you get right before Shelly. Victreebel's extra power helped me back then

I really want ludicolo(he was awesome in rejuv) but it has yet to rain in my game lol. Definitly picking him up when it does though, since I'm going to need a surfer anyway and I don't want to have a slot taken by like buizel.

I haven't done any proper EV training yet, I usually don't do that until after shade anyway.

Looks like RNGesus wasn't in your favour. It helped immensively and was easily one of my MVPs. I hope you get one soon 🙂

  7. Yeah the shadow mechanic was pretty cool, especially how they would get moves that are impossible for the normal versions.
  8. Could be mixed. Like a physical electric attacker is ehhh since there's not a lot of good physical electric moves. But it'll likely have a signature move or something regardless.
  9. Scorebunny Syndicate. GOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!! Grookey looks like a fakemon at first glance tbh. I figure blaze kick is going to be one of its moves, but if it's electric I'm thinking electro ball could be a thing too. It looks like a fast attacker, which we haven't had since Infernape. I'm guessing something of a glass cannon. I wonder if they'll have signature moves again?
  10. MK11 roster leaked, woohoo!!!

  11. Like pokemon has never been graphics powerhouse, and generally nintendo games aren't. Like I'm not expecting a pokemon game to look like Horizon or anything. Frankly I care more about the gameplay and content. and let's hope we get a nice number of mons this gen. and guys remember, grookey's key theme is music(groove + monkey). His french name makes reference to this as well so that should hint as to what he'll turn into. I don't think he'll simply turn into a plain strongman gorilla, somehow that theme is going to persist into his design.
  12. HOLY ZEN I BEAT COREY FIRST ATTEMPT.

dudeeeee. I didn't even need ferroseed. I didn't even use all 6 pokemon!!!

I got super lucky as he totally messed up and  switched in crobat early as I was about to KO skrelp. Gloom was able to paralyze him with stun spore AND tank a venoshock, while hitting him with nature power. Nature power is a must in this fight, as the special defense debuff off acid spray plays a crucial part in allowing your grass STABs to KO(like petal dance is 120 BP, so with a -2 special defense drop most of corey's mons are going to take heavy damage, if not outright kO'd. Skuntank was the biggest pain aside from crobat, and it took the combined efforts of Leavanny and meganium to take him down. Thankfully meganium can take a flamethrower or venoshock with little issue, but the poison damage does add up so you can't dwaddle. Cherrim kicked some butt this fight too, taking out both mereanie and croagunk.

OOh I wonder what the mystery egg's gonna be this time..hoping it's cottonee haha

  13. Huh the ZEL/Taka fight was surprisingly easy. Exeggcute is so much less bothersome than lileep was, as it can hardly do anything. except use barrage and bullet seed, which barely do any damage. The tricky part was getting rid of glaceon,.I had to have parasect use spore to put it to sleep and have it along with bayleef whittle it down. Thankfully they were able to KO it before it woke up. Espeon was a piece of cake, as Leavanny one shot it. with bug bite. Umbreon took multiple bug bites but still pretty easy. With only exeggute left ths gave me ample chance to have cherrim set up sunny day and have roselia set ups growths to max out offense., then switching cherrim back for leavanny. Chatot didn't stand a chance to a +6 giga drain and Tangrowth wasn't a big deal this time since he kept using acid spray on leavanny, who  could use protect to stall him out.  I'm pleased at how smooth this fight went.

  14. Okay after studying the starters more and reading impressions: grookey seems to be music based, perhaps styled after a maestro? We see him using the head stick to rhythmically tap the grass on the ground to make it grow. Makes you wonder what typing he'll get later on... Scorbunny seems to take after a soccer player, which is cool. This has me doubting my previous fire/fairy guess on his typing(though maybe he'll get play rough?) , sadly. I don't think he'll end up part fighting(makes sense but I doubt it) and pure fire would be boring, but his typing is what I'm most interested in. I've seen suggestions of fire/steel and fire/electric, both of which would be sweet. Sobble is a crying chameleon, but what got my attention are how his hands are positioned in a sort of meditative position near his tummy. For anyone who watched naruto you might remember shikamaru's little hand circle when he would concentrate. I know that in regards to chi the stomach is has some importance though I'm not sure the specifics, so if this little detail is more than coincidence than we have a hint at perhaps a psychic or even fighting typing later on? I still feel ghost could be a thing too but hmm. like this link sort of touches on the subject a little. http://www.wholeliving.com/134722/taoist-massage-chi-nei-tsang
  15. Hmm I was kind of hoping overworld following would show but so far non. I think those S/M walking/running models will show up for the soccer game. My guess on the types they'll turn into: Grookey- not sure TBH. Maybe grass/fighting? Scorbunny - it looks rather whimsical to me and reminds me of a bugs bunny -esque character. Fire/fairy would be so rad. Sobble - it seems to learn acid armor and looks fearful, and turning invisible seems to be a focus trait of his. Perhaps water/ghost?
  16. Team scorbunny. Though the water one looks neat too.

Grookey though? Not too much a fan.

Also pokesocc-er okay football confirmed? Neato. I like the PC designs too.

  17. Yeah same here...let me try logging in again Ahhh I figured what I did wrong, I typed Nariboss08 instead of Nabiboss08 lol. Whoops, sorry about that. Anyway Thanks a lot! If I get walled too hard by corey I know what to train up and use lol.
  18. Okay first fight with taka was easy, as roselia just swept his entire team. Set up 3 growths and even tangrowth was able to be 2-shot.

I never knew there was an egg right after taka, first playthrough I actually picked it up!...and it's friggin stantler lol. Nah.

  19. Small detail but totes appreciated, I love how the wallpapers in reborn are custom tailored to the region itself and not just copy/pasted from the actual games.

  20. Oooh I forgot burmy evolves so quickly, but I had no idea it learned Quiver dance on evolution now, that's insane haha. Though it feels like logically you'd get trash cloak from the alleys but I'm not going to ruin that by suggesting it to ame.<_<
  21. Gah I was sleep, um... yeah ferroseed would be kind of nice haha. Especially with those stats/nature I have to be at work in like 15 minutes but what time are you available again?
  22. Welcome! Incineroar huh? Heh nice pick. But whoa, Mauritius? I...admittedly had to look that up, I never even heard of it. But I feel that's a testament to this game's quality, that people from all over can enjoy it.
  23. What about ferroseed? It'd be *perfect* for my grass run plus it's one of my favorite pokemon lines anyway. Anyway I did breed 3 budew right now, one has a calm nature with perfect special attk EV AND it's a girl, which is nice. EDIT: 2nd just hatched, a guy but it's modest nature with 31 special attack as well.
