  1. An addendum to a comment I made yesterday: only the first two generations have had their cries updated for some reason... which means that sableye and especially staraptor are safe! For the time being, in any case.

That explains why Ralts sounded fine, but Eevee sounded like it was getting tortured?  Good to know.  Hopefully the rest will be overlooked.

Maybe eevee will be further updated once the Let's GO! version is available if there's enough outcry? If nothing else, it isn't as grating.

On the other hand, I find the new drowzee cry to be kinda amusing for some reason. Didn't expect that monster be a diamond in the rough for me at any point, and yet here we are!

  2. H'aanit's a bit like N, in a sense: willing to capture beasts to further her goals, but more than happy to let them return home before she has a chance to overwork them. It's a shame Linde is never as good as one of the legendary dragons, though
  3. *Sigh* It seems the cries have finally been updated this time. Welp.

  4. Well, the banner lines up with the Z-Move animation reveal from a while back. I'm a bit worried about what this means for us, though... But first, I guess I oughta finish grinding my new team members up to snuff, huh? More importantly: thanks for the update, Ame~!
  5. Let's add on more option to this list, shall we? Ciel proves that a Gym Leader can have a Mega of any Typing, so long as the non-Mega Evolved form matches their Type profile (altaria is a Flying Type, whereas mega Altaria is not, but she uses it anyway). This opens the floodgates for Hardy to come in with Mega Aggron to throw us for a loop with. Notably, it isn't as bothered by Murkwater as many Rock Types would be, so it lines up with that clue fairly well. I don't think this will be the case, to be honest, but I wouldn't be surprised if Ame opted to go this route either.
  6. I haven't been playing the game myself (it's a bit hard to do when you're most "modern" console is the Wii), but I have been watching a playthrough of the game for the past... week and a half or so. I'm only through two out of the 8 Chapter 4's so far, which is a bit odd, considering that this is decidedly a faster way to enjoy the game- random battles are cut and grinding is done off screen, and the person isn't even doing the sidequests on screen- but I guess that's a testament to how long the game is without the extra stuff, no? Nothing can beat actually playing the game for oneself, of course, but it holds it's own quite well without the interactivity~! Oh man, the music is definitely up there! The overworld (especially the Cliftlands, IMO) and town themes (the upbeat Grandport and Rippletide themes, the calming Stillsnow, the stifled and oppressive feels to Olberic and Therion's final chapter towns... the list goes on) do an awesome job of painting just what type of place you're in, while still sounding nice on their own accord. The characters' personal themes don't disappoint, either, especially the 'For..." songs that play before the Chapter Boss fights- especially since they flow into the boss themes seamlessly! Typically, games only do that with exceptionally important bosses, but since (almost) every Chapter Boss is significant to the current plot, the musicians decided to go all-out, and I for one am all the happier for it. Oh, that initial thing is something I don't think I would've caught on my own! Which is odd, considering that they're Chapter 1 locations are literally in that order on the world map if you put Ophilia at 1:00 or so and move in a clockwise... Ah well, one can't catch every detail the first time through, no?
  7. One thing I've learned from my struggles with the most recent Gym Leader is that sometimes, levels do make all the difference. If you're still struggling with him after taking everyone else's advice, go ahead and do a spot of grinding- as your team is now, everyone's got 3 levels worth of growing room- particularly handy, since most fully-evolved pokemon get at least +2 to their most relevant stats with each level.
  8. For what it's worth, murkrow at least has a fairly low catch rate. I once lost 10 balls to a ratatta, and that thing has the highest base catch rate in the game!
  9. The shiny chance is the same for all pokemon in this game, at least as far as the overworld is concerned. It's likely that your numbers are a little bit inflated, since one usually spends more time in the tall grass than bashing against trees, but ultimately it just comes down to luck. Perseverance is key!
  10. I mean, you catch a normal one and breed for your desired result- at least that way, you bypass the base encounter rate. Ultimately, though, shiny hunting isn't supposed to be easy all the time- that's why it's called a hunt, I believe.
  11. It's possible, but with requirements that specific, you're drawing up some seriously low odds. First, you have a 30% (early game) or 25% (late game) chance of even getting a combee in the first place. Then, you need it to also hit a mere 12.5% chance of it being a female. Finally, it also needs to land on Reborn's 700/65535 (slightly less than 1%) chance of being shiny. So, yeah, it's possible, but you're going to be there a while. And heavens forbid you're also looking for top-notch IVs on the little princess...
  12. Aesthetically? I've always preferred midnight, and I doubt that'll be changing any time soon. Mechanically? I'd be a fool not to go midday if Dusk isn't on the table- and indeed, one is on my Rejuv. team for that reason. Midnight's bulk just isn't enough to get the job done, and Rock has always been a bad Type for tanking anyway.
  13. Honestly, my only problem with delphox is the gender ratio- and it's the only pokemon that I have that complaint with (well, aside from it's prevo). This is based off of the thematics of the line, as I see them: Braixen, as many have determined, is based off of the 'magical girl' archetype, which... is kinda self-explanatory, as far as gender is concerned. There's also a spot of cute witch in there, which is a tad more subtle for this argument, but let's roll with it. Sure, there is that 'magical boy' anime these days, but that aired a couple years after X and Y were released, so I highly doubt that that was even remotely considered when designing the pokemon, ya know? Delphox, of course, looses the 'magical girl' aspect to the design, so maybe I can afford to give it a little slack... waitaminute. It's name derives from the Oracle of Delphi, who was notably a woman. Well, so much for that! Buolding off of that detail, the Oracle's patron god was Apollo, the Greek deity of the sun (which explains the Fire Typing a bit better than 'we just needed to fill this slot of the pre-established pattern). That means that the only gender-neutral member of the line is fennekin, no? So why the heck does it have such a greater chance of being male? I wouldn't be so peeved if the odds were even- naming conventions aside, it does have a rather neutral design, and not everyone is aware of the name thing anyway. But no, it got saddled with the "starter standard ratio", and i think we have a few other starter lines that annoy players with that ratio as things are? Aside from that, it's a solidly designed poke that fits one of my favorite unit types in RPGs (strong offensive casters that come with a fair bit of in-battle utility), and a pokemon I've been considering using for a while now (though it typically got beat out by another Fire or Psychic Type, unfortunately). Besides, this is a series where the gender thing can easily be bypassed by way of soft reset anyway, so I don't really have any actual complaints with it anyway~!
  14. I literally don't remember fighting Corey, to be honest, so I guess he must've been easy? I dunno. Florinia has the dubious dishonor of being the only Gym Leader I beat on my first try without prior preparation, but I'm fully aware that that was a case of sheer dumb luck. What are the chances of one landing all 5 hits of Rollout, yet alone having the last one be strong enough to OH-KO a cradily despite being resisted? I imagine that she'll give me more trouble in later playthroughs. Luna was pretty easy, even though I didn't have any Fairy or Bug moves on my team. I personally focused on a different aspect of the Dark Crystal Cave than most to make up for it: it becomes a normal Cave with just a single use of Earthquake. I let her sableye try to build the arena back up, sure, but my flygon won that matchup all the same... and then deliberately collapsed the cave on her malamar, because I was not interested in getting Contrary-swept! I don't think a Dark Leader's doing something right if their opponent is laughing maniacally throughout most of the fight, right?
  15. For me, Shelly was the first Gym Leader I had trouble with- the illumise was a pain in the butt to get rid of before it used Rain Dance (note: I didn't stop it the time I won), yanmega is pretty strong that early in the game, and geez if the anorith's Telluric Seed wasn't annoying! Wound up having to overlevel+ Common Candy my starter so that my quilladin (now a mighty chesnaught) could take a few hits and give the other poke time to do the actual damage and hunt down a Telluric Seed of my own- and even then, it still took me a few more tries to beat her! I actually don't remember how much trouble Shade's gengar did or did not give me, but I do remember having a fair bit of trouble with the rotom (mostly because I really needed the field to be in Factory mode when the true devil came out, and Shade isn't always compliant with his Discharges). That mimikyu, though... That was quite the roadblock on it's own accord! Adrienn has the dubious honor of being the only Gym Leader I trained a pokemon specifically for and had it actually work. Xe refused to blow away the Misty Terrain, so I decided to just do it myself. Bonus Points: a Max Revive was absolutely essential to my strategy for actually getting past xem. That says quite a bit about the battle, no? Titania gave me just as many problems as she seems to have given everyone else. It probably didn't help me any that I was kinda underleveled going up against her and trying to grind in Never After seemed to be quite the hassle. I'm not gonna lie, though, my victory actually caught me completely off-guard; my flygon (my last pokemon) had terrible track record in terms of surviving enemy attacks (low IVs will do that to ya), and Titania's significantly-higher-levelled-than-your-current-cap aegislash had +3 Atk. under its buckler- and yet the flygon managed to hold on and deliver the killing blow anyway! And lastly... Amaria. There are... levels to this madness. To begin with, I'm running the Reshiram route, so I had all the emotional shenaniganry associated with that to put me a little off-balance on my first try. This also means that she used Mega Evolution against me rather than the Z-Moves she uses in the Zekrom route- that's significantly harder to prevent and potentially far more devastating to go up against, no? This also means that she uses the team opposite of what you tell her you prefer- a detail I did not pick up on at all until after I had quit the first time as it led me to believe that she forced you into playing Doubles regardless. The fact that her Doubles team is ridiculously brutal didn't help; leading with two twice-Field-boosted Surf spammers with Water Absorb is an absolutely ridiculous start, especially since one's packing a Life Orb to capitalize on all the free healing, and the other has friggin' Rain Dance on its moveset! Out of nearly 20 attempts, I had only managed to take down a single pokemon one time. ...Two months of tarrying later, I finally built up the nerve to try again, this time using what I learned about manipulating which battle style she uses against her. On one hand, she's much easier to deal with in singles (I took down half her team on the first try). On the other hand... Dual Screens+Vollt Switch right out the gate, backed by perfect-accuracy Hydro Pumps? A significant number of Swift Swimmers on a Field that lowers non-Water pokemon's Speed already? The potential to give already bulky pokemon a free (boosted) Aqua Ring and a Sp. Def. if you time things poorly? Three friggin' Ultra potions?! Goodness, she has a lot going for her this time, and none of her pokemon even have Surf! It took me a whole day's worth of poking and prodding, as well as spitting on color theory enough to make poor Indra cry, to finally pull out ahead and claim my goddang Badge, and even than I would've lost yet again if she hadn't opted to waste her last turn trying to heal up Deliverance. So, uh, yeah, those are all the Reborn Gym Leaders that gave me a significant amount of trouble that wasn't simply because of a cheap level spike (glares at Samson) so far. Sorry about the text wall...
  16. Woo, I finally beat Amaria~! Goodness, that was an absolutely horrendous struggle... But now i don't have to worry about her anymore when E18 drops! Well, aside from... you know...

Congratz on beating Amaria. We've just got 2 leaders left!

  17. ...When the heck did Deliverance gain enough experience to go from the mid 80's to Lv. 91? I really didn't need that in my life.

  18. So, I only now realized that there's a warp pad in Amaria's arena once you can actually battle her. Now I don't have to drag along a Lv. 25 Surf slave against Deliverance's overleveled shell~!

Hope the battle with Amaria goes well.

  19. >Angie is a Double Battle now Oh boy, I can't wait to be absolutely crumpled up in a bloody snowball and effortlessly blown aside by twice-boosted prefect-accuracy Blizzards with a side of Flinch!hax Icicle Crashes specifically to shatter my Special walls in what was already the second hardest fight in the game! And I thought Doubles!ReshiAmaria was bad... At least crabominable is a relatively easy to deal with bag of wasted potential. Gut reactions aside, this does have some interesting things to it. Ren getting a growlithe is very funny thematically, given what his role in world is, but I suppose it will make his fight in Narcissa's Gym actually a worthwhile midboss fight- it gives him a pokemon that doesn't have one of its STABs weakened by unhappy spirits, after all! Aelita getting a staravia opens up an interesting thought: while it is true that she states that she plans to eventually go back home and reopen the Gym, she never specifies what Type it would be, and now her pre-journey team gives precedence for to specialize in either of hawlucha's Types. Her losing the source of her overwhelming aggression last Version could also serve as being an explanation for the change! That said, it does seem like a stretch- while I don't think Souta will be lasting or very much longer at this point, we do have to take into account that Talon will be taking his old spot back should the best case scenario occur with Nim's victims. But if that's thge case, that would also mean that we're gonna have to depose of Texen as well, so that'll be fun so long as Jan doesn't deny us the satisfaction! If that is Venam in the Angie fight rather than just Alex showing off his spiffy stag beetle (which is most likely the case, since she hadn't named any of her pokemon previously, at least to my V9-onward knowledge), then that's pretty neat. It'd be nice to have some extra bodies against the Ice Bishop, of course, but more importantly, it has her break out of the Monotype mold *before* stealing Tesla's charizard. Can't complain about that, really, seeing as her taking the electrician's job kinda marks the end of her handling her Gym (at least, for the time being), and Bug Types are all over the place on that side of the Region!
  20. I mean, I don't have any Waters on my own team (or my Rujev one, or Black and Black 2 ones, or the one in Insurgence, or all but one of the many Diamond ones, for that matter... I may have a problem here, now that I think about it) and have mostly been doing just fine thus far, so I guess so. If you think of araquanid as more of a support pokemon with a singular, particularly potent offensive option rather than a primary attacker, you should be able to get solid mileage out of it. At least, that's how I handle using my own Sticky Web users, and everyone has their own playstyles. I feel like that outside of one particularly significant fight, the Glitch Field doesn't happen quite often enough to build a pokemon specifically around it for in-game. It would be awesome to have around on a Glitch-centric wifi team, though, even if the method for triggering it if the match doesn't start on that particular field is hilariously unoptimal!
  21. I'd say that Surf is only better if you're already dedicated to using a Special set, since you already have the stats and other moves set up at that point. Otherwise, Liquidation trades 5 BP for being run off of araquanid's naturally higher Attack stat and a 20% chance to lower the target's Defense stat if they survive, which can help ensure that one of the next attacks will get the kill. The Bug slot is important as well, because while it doesn't get the Water Bubble boost, it does improve araquanid's survivability (Leech Life by healing the spider, Lunge by lowering the target's Attack stat and thereby buffering what is otherwise its lower defensive stat). Both can be a big deal on a species who's most reliable form of healing is Aqua Ring! Honestly, it doesn't really matter too much what the third (coverage) slot is. Both of araquanid's good Physical coverage moves (Crunch and Poison Jab) have overlap with Bug's SE spread, so which one you use should be determined on whether your team as a whole is more scared of Fairies or Ghosts. As mentioned several times before me, Sticky Web can be a friggin' godsend in many a situation, especially since many fast opponents also hit like a runaway train through Tourmaline Desert. It is important to note, however, that Sticky Web is *exclusively* an Egg Move for araquanid, so you'll have to train up a whole new giant bubble spider if you decide to use this particular attack. if you don't want to do that, than feel free to use Mirror Coat instead- that attacks power is based off of the enemies' Special Attack rather than your own, so it can put in some work, It doers require a fair bit of prediction to pull off properly, though, so be careful when using it.
  22. Only now do I realize that forums definitely don't count as open world. Probably not gonna need that information ever again, though! Anyway, welcome to this slightly closed land we call the Reborn Evolved Forums! Please feel free to check out all that we have to offer, and above all else, enjoy your stay!
  23. There... was a pattern, until the camel showed up. Two humps count as a Double Battle, right?
  24. I... have no advice I can give for YouTube management, but I can say this: if you wind up playing one of the games this site has built itself around (well, I guess Reborn built itself around the site, but w/e), don't be surprised if it winds up being pretty different from what you're used to. Pokemon Reborn and Pokemon Rejuvenation are pretty tough nuts to crack*! Aside from that, welcome to the curious lands we call the Reborn Evolved Forums! Please feel free to check out all that we have to offer at you leisure, and above all else, enjoy your stay! *Note: this advice applies whether you're playing the games casually, or filming them somehow for your channel
  25. I don't think they have, at least not on-screen. Venam wasn't part of the Blacksteeple Escapade, and Aelita was busy taking on and very likely struggling immensely against Crawli when Melia and the MC meet the Punk Girl again at the Ranger Base. And then Aelita and MC take off for Caratos before she even makes it to the villas while Venam is trying to care for feverish Melia, so they definitely couldn't have met there. Theoretically, they could have passed each other at the Ranger Base offscreen, but I highly doubt that there would've been anything meaningful about that encounter if it did happen...
