  1. Alternative Title: The Obsidia K9 Unit Strikes Again! It would seem that EFS Jr. doesn't have that glimmer his progenitor had, though that's hardly a surprise. Seal, though... you really oughta get some medication for the kid. Endless Insomnia can't be healthy for anyone, nightbird or otherwise! On the other hand, RuinedRuiner is actually a pretty fitting name for a slightly corrupted combat program, don'cha agree? "Get outta here, Magma scum!" Hmm, I'm not sure how a violin-bug and a not-so-woolly mammoth scream 'magma', but whatever you say, kid. It seems we don't even need out Illusions to make you delusional! Alas, poor Cain. Pretty much everyone seems to reject him these days, even though he only means well. Though, uh, Dr. Sigmund, if I may... what makes you think a lawsuit is gonna have any amount of success in this city? Oh, and on the criminal record thing, that is both hardly detrimental within he confines of the community due to the overwhelming abundance of such legally immoral individuals, including, I do believe, yourself. After all, isn't electrode-less electroconvulsive therapy, administered without prior use of anesthetics, considered illegal in the vast majority of first and second world nations? Oh no, Doctor, you are no more exempt from the law than we are- merely more financially able to defend yourself. Which, of course, means absolutely nothing to ol' EFS here~! ChaoticAngel's Illusion copied Shelly's volbeat? Well, uh, I can't say I was expecting that one- not that the Orderlies had much room to expect it or not themselves! One of these days, Charlotte's gonna realize that Cain was totally correct this day, and become the blazing Prince she was always meant to be! Just, not Cain's. That Princess has his sights set elsewhere, methinks. "I've already taken the liberty of contacting the authorities..." Aaaand, that's another mistake to your growing pile, dear Doctor! Even if they weren't a bit tied up with regrouping and trying to help reestablish order in the run-down ruins of the Beryl and Jasper Wards, they kinda owe us quite a bit for helping calm those situations in the first place! Calling upon Denmark to try to protect yourself from little ol' Germany here, isn't gonna help you out, Francey~! Spoilers for later in the game, for those to whom have this as their first journey: Current Death Toll: 8 (Unchanged from last time) Major Decisions Made: 2 (Unchanged from last time)
  2. I mean, I had gone with dewpider to try and avoid size issues (seriously, araquanid is really friggin' big!), but I ain't gonna complain. Let's just say this is, uh, the totem lurantis and, uh, a poor araqua with dwarfism? Eh, who really cares about those semantics, when there's solid art coming out of it all, anyway? Thank you~! An ambitious project, you say? How curious!
  3. The big thing I'd change is cutting down on the massive number of Water Attacks you have on your primarina. Seeing as you're already running Hydro Pump anyway, it'll probably be a good idea to hunt down the Waterium-Z (obtained at the end of the Sandy sidequest, which requires renovating the Slums to access). Hydro Pump!Hydro Vortex is only only marginally weaker than Oceanic Operetta, and can still serve to bludgeon enemies once the main nuke is dropped; Scald can hold you over when you need to rely on greater accuracy. Psychic (from the Glass Workstation) is probably your best bet for a replacement move, as it strikes down any Poison Types you find yourself up against.
  4. 999? Isn't that, like, one of the more obscure DS games? Always seemed like something one of my siblings would enjoy more than I would. Anyway, welcome to this peculiar place we call the Reborn Evolved Forums! Be sure to read up on the rules, feel free to check out all we have to offer (there's quite a bit that the others haven't mentioned yet, you see), and above all else, enjoy your stay! We share half our Reborn teams, species-wise. Huh.
  5. It got a couple stat buffs going into Gen. 7 (+20 to both its base Speed and base Special Attack) that allow it to hold its own far better than it could a couple years ago, especially since it now gets Quiver Dance upon evolution instead of Lv. 68. Intimidate is the better Ability for you, as it shores up the Defense stat you can't boost yourself, in addition to the general utility it offers. Be careful, though- as a Bug/Flying Type, masquerain does have a X4 weakness to Rock attacks, including Stealth Rock. Don't let it get stoned!
  6. "So... little... energy... The coronation... used it... all up...!" Maqqy, slaking EFS, Sr. continues the trend of the first generation being pretty solid right out the gates, and with a sleek'n'keen coat to match! ChaoticAngel, on the other hand... kinda lives up to the name- died surprisingly easily in prior timelines, and apparently posses just enough Defense to handle this one, but at the cost of offensive presence and mental endurance... That max Speed, though- Corey did look like he had a hedgehog for a head. Dimensional anomaly rocks= more convenient than sliced plumbing? Well, if that ain't a low bar to leap over, I dunno what is! Fern: a young man who laughs at suiciders, picks on traumatized children, holds vital information hostage, and disrespects the LBTQ+ community. He's under 18, right? And his parents are nowhere to be found? Why, I think I know just the place to refer him towards! It's a shame that Grass resists Electric... Wait, I thought that the Heart Scale Glitch was patched up with the last bug fix? Hmm, apparently not... Finding an Amplifield Rock already seems like a bit of a lucky break, though- at least, it would be if it weren't for the one behind the solrock... Still, they should come in handy should you ever find yourself working with temporary changes in Field Effects or one of the Rooms, no? The loss of that Max Revive is gonna suck later on, however... >Leaving poor babs with hangry bears I'd feel bad, if I didn't really care for the line. Especially the evolved form. Ah well, at least it's (presumably) a decent source of essential minerals... Even in death, Corey can't quite seem to keep his footing around heights. What a poor, poor soul... Current Death Toll: 8 (Unchanged from last time) Major Decisions Made: 2 (Unchanged from last time)
  7. "Sorry, m'dear, but your infernal magicks shalln't work on this knight!" Seriously, this is a pretty nice scene you've got set up here! Though now I'm wondering if it's possible to have a Gardevoirrite by the time you reach Victory Road in ORAS now...
  8. Oh, I knew why the Seed didn't pop- that particular comment was more of a 'that's not what I'm used to' type of deal than a 'I have no idea what just happened' one. I think the Rainbow Field pops Magical Seeds? Either those or the Elemental ones- either way, it doesn't work with the Telluric Seed the anorith's holding. This is the first I've heard about Shelly being nerfed, though- maybe the anorith isn't holding the Seed anymore in the first place? That seems like a decent place to start in terms of nerfing her without ruining her gimmick...
  9. >Next episode's out not even a full hour after I posted my reaction to the last one Welp, between this and the fact that I'm on dinner duty this evening, I'd say that my productivity levels are gonna be even lower than I initially thought today~ Yet more things I always forget: Bugs don't resist Poison. This is why you fact check before you make a fool of yourself, kiddies~! Not that I don't do that on a regular basis anyways, but that's beside the point Anyway, it's now time for the Gym that made lots of newcomers question everything they thought they knew! First on the list, that Rival Battle outta nowhere that made a lot of people really salty at Victoria for... some strange... reason. I mean, really, we knew most of her team going into this fight courtesy of Team Meteor, and she's honestly just trying to be a nice person, so what's the big idea? Well, I think we can agree that I just don't get people, and stick with the fact that this fight is easily the easiest part of the Gym, no? ...Uh, apparently not. How'd you get through the Gym puzzle so quickly?! (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻ ...That is, by far, the fastest I have ever seen that anorith go down. Granted, I usually see its Seed activate, but still... And goodness gracious- how did Azalea manage to still outspeed Heather after a Speed Boost?! I, uh... Wow. That's all I can really say in regards of just how brutally you crushed this noobkiller of a Gym... Remind me not to challenge you to a battle any time soon! Current Death Toll: 8 (Unchanged from last time) Major Decisions Made: 2 (Unchanged from last time)
  10. Wait, I though Revenant Keta had already been revised? Hmm, maybe that was just the mugshot... Anywhoodles, it looks like you've made some serious progress in terms of Xenegening Rejuvenation's A E S T H E T I C despite the apparent struggles you had with reality, and everyone's looking better for it! I'll admit that I wasn't too surprised to see on the list, but that has more to do with the fact that we already know the nature of part of the next Version anyway. Keep up the good work, team~!
  11. *Looks at title* ...Magma gang baby? I figured that Reborn's teen resource center probably isn't in the greatest condition right now, but isn't that taking things a bit too far? Well, now that we have our weirdo flower toad thingiemabobber, it seems that we also have a first fully-evolved 3 stager! If that ain't a sign of forward progress, I'm not quite sure what is! Dayo Jr. is looking like they have a bit more Sp. Def. than their parent, IV-wise, but doesn't seem to be much different beyond that? And was that friggin' Energy Ball I spotted on Neco already? Oof, talk about getting out the big guns ahead of schedule! And once again, a numel's evolution manages to catch me by surprise. Even after using the camel several times myself, I still manage to overestimate its evolution level... ...I'd imagine that I'd find it a bit hard to breathe when standing next to a corpse that's been lying there for a couple days, too... >_>; This joke is bad, and I feel bad for telling it Summary of the Lapis situation: Team Meteor offed Heather's father (technically, that's not wrong...), a sunkern blew up the Grand Stairwell (I wonder if that has anything to do with why they don't seem to actually exist in Reborn? ), and Shade is surprisingly good at street cleaning (seriously, where'd all the blood go?!). This is certainly a bizarre combination of circumstances, no? Goodness, I had forgotten about how restrictive the Grand Stairwell was before you had more TMX's at your disposal. Cut ain't exactly cutting it with all these boulders, ya know? "Did you, as a citizen of this city, have any inkling of this place beneath it?" Uh, look dude, I've only been here for a couple weeks at most. I don't even know where the nearest McDonald's is yet! "And do you know, trainer, what lies beyond this gate?" Oh, please don't tell me that's the Burger King. I knew the clown was cut-throat behind his cheery facade, but sealing royalty away beneath a failing dystopia seems a tad overkill! ...And, it seems this fast food joke has hit the end of the road- I don't know of any that use purple as one of their colors. Like, I've got red (Wendy's, Arby's, McDonald's), blue (Burger King), and green (SubWay), but there's only so far one can go before the police decide to end their Dunkin' Donuts break and pull you over... Spoilers, for those whom this is their first journey: ...Yeeg, talk about a rocky start to the Aster+Eclipse battle (pun actually not intended). All those Flinch!hax would've been bad enough, but the fact that the solrock nabbed the Fire charge twice in a row while ZEL was out made things just that much worse! And then the lunatone got the Psychic charge against Victoria's pancham as well? What kind of shenaniganry is this?! Thankfully, it wasn't enough to actually take you out, but... dang. That fight should not have been as close as it was! You know, when your first two times bothering to pass closely by an orphanage include someone trying to skeddadle out of there like their lives depended on it, that kinda gives away that something ain't quite right with the place. Having the next person we meet be Anna, who's clearly out of it despite this also being a psychiatric ward, really doesn't help the situation in the slightest... What could possibly be more 'Magma' than a camerupt? Wait, why does everyone else have houndour...? Er, I think there might've been a slight bit of miscommunication... Current Death Toll: 8 (Unchanged from last time) Major Decisions Made: 2
  12. The Direct's comment section was pretty annoying on my end, seeing as they spent the whole thing demanding Smash news, only to boo tremendously when it finally came up. Like, sure, I get that Isabelle isn't that high on most peoples' wishlists (I'll admit that I wasn't too hyped for her myself), but that was quite the rude reception! Heck, the team had even gone and taken an extra mile with her- most of the people who expected her to be in figured that she'd be an Echo through and through, yet the most obviously-similar thematically move they showed her using to the Villager's was the giroid- and even then, she seems use it more akin to Snake's up-smash than the reflavored Green Missile her mayor uses! And using the Smash reveal as a stepping stone to finally unveil the next Animal Crossing game at last? I'd say that was a pretty clever way to hype up the folks who actually care about the series, personally! Looking earlier in the Direct, I find myself having a few worries. We already knew that GameFreak has had two teams working hard as of late (one on Let's GO!, the other on 2019's title<s>), but today revealed that they had a third team working on a non-Pokemon RPG as well. Like, I'm sure that I'm worrying about nothing here, but I still can't help but feel a bit apprehensive about the possibility of them spreading their resources a bit too thin here... The Katamari remake caught me by surprise, but wasn't particularly thrilling. The graphical update is rather Forever-ish, which is to be expected, but aside from that... I sure hope they rebalance Make a Star 7 for this one- I was never able to beat that stage, and digging through the internet revealed that it's widely considered to be one of the toughest stages in the game for most people. The TWEWY update this time confuses me a bit- they put a significant amount of focus on this 'Another Day' thing like it was something totally new, yet there was a post-game chapter by the same name in its first release! Either someone at Square wasn't paying attention, or they're really, really bad at naming things... The one thing that did manage to incite some degree of hype in me was the fact that, of all the obscure Final Fantasy things out there, they opted to remake friggin' Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo's Dungeon! I sank a lot of time into that particular game the summer we spent with my mother back in 2009, personally, and found out that it was widely unknown when I finally discovered the internet after the fact. Sure, the whole befriending enemies thing is clearly lifted from Kirby in this instance, but considering that the original game only gave you the one character (a sharp divide from PMD's 2+), I can't really complain. I did notice that Chocobo was wearing a red bicorne(?) hat throughout most of the trailer, though- none of the Jobs in the original game had such a thing. My guesses are that it's either the Bard (which seems a but unlikely, seeing as there already was the Dancer) or the red mage (which would be... curious, from a balance point of view), but since it didn't use any of its skills, it's tough to make any further inferences. I wonder if you can use the partner thing to kidnap Croma's Dark Elemental in the Guardian of Water, lol The shaking grenade subweapon the Splatoon 2 update trailer revealed seems like a terribly risky move that would have to have some significant reward to make up for the fact that you're a very obvious sitting duck while charging it. Also, the octolings seem to have fully taken over the surface. I think that's about all I can really say about that one? All in all, I feel like I got a fair bit more out of this Direct than I had expected going in, personally. I'm sure that most folks don't feel the same way, but oh well- there's always next time, I suppose.
  13. >Sp. Attack EVs Yeah, the Celestinine fishing spot ain't gonna help you with your current point in the story, is it? It's kinda... about halfway through the game from where you're at, after all.
  14. New this episode (from what we've seen so far): I think that about covers it for this batch of screenshots? That's quite some variety, at least!
  15. For someone who supposedly doesn't speak much, you sure have been responding to your introduction thread a lot more than most. Not that that's a bad thing, of course~ Anyway, welcome the Reborn Evolved Forums! Be sure to read up on the rules, feel free to check out all we have to offer, and above all else, enjoy your stay~! Yes, I'm aware that I left out a small part of my usual spiel
  16. >A meme is posted on one of my Discords
    >I have no idea what the heck it's going on about, so I request an explanation by way of bad pun

    >Turns out that its about emo bands, and which bands tie to what 'type' of emo you are/were

    >I feel the rift between me and my peers expand even further

Well, uh, guess I'll continue on my way then... 😓

  17. I feel like the Fire Emblem characters wouldn't be quite so complained about if most of them weren't pure swordsmen in Smash. And you can see that Sakurai and co. had picked up on this, as the two completely new representatives for the series in Smash 4 put more focus on another aspect of their character- Robin with their Tomes, and Corrin with their quasi-shapechanger Dragon Fang shenanigans. And while it is true that both those characters also have swords, even those are represented more by they're unique qualities (the Levin Sword being a Magic-based attack and the fact that the Omega Yato looks like a friggin' chainsaw) anyway. That does tie into a little bit of salt I do have regarding the series' representation, though: remember when the team declared that they didn't have Chrom in 4 because they couldn't think of anything new to do with 'just another swordsman'? Chrom isn't just another swordsman! The guy is also fully capable of using lances in battle! And it isn't like characters with multiple weapons is something completely taboo in Smash, either- Samus has always boasted something akin to a full arsenal, Falco's got two since his debut, where the heck does Snake keep all those explosives, and have you seen Pit's Smash 4 update? That Arm is almost as big as he is! Having peculiarly hidden weaponry in this game isn't anything new here at all. Of course, when we finally got him, he wound up being just another swordsman anyway (why, Sakurai, why?!), but that doesn't change the fact that he had the potential to be just a little bit more. Besides, it's not like Smash's current obsession with sticking to the Lords+ MUs formula forces them down the Way of the Pointy Stick every single time, either. Both Ephraim and Eliwood both use Lances as their primary weapons, and Hector's got a friggin' axe. You know what weapon type has been criminally underused is Smash? The axe! Really, there's just a lot of missed opportunity to go around here.
  18. This strikes me a bit like complaining about forward-flying projectile Specials being common- the difference being that the projectiles have been since day 1. Samus' guided missiles are different from Pit's Palutena Bow; Dark Pit's Silver Bow has even less control over its direction, and Link's Hero Bow has even less than that, Mario's Fireball keeps on going for a bit when it hits the ground, Lucas' PK Fire instead lingers in one spot for a bit... Similarly, not all counters are created equal: Little Mac throws a fearsome uppercut, Palutena spears opponents with a jab of her staff, Shulk's Vision both pauses the attacker for the duration of the counter and sweeps all around him, Peach and Daisy both pull a Toad out from hammerspace and douse the opponent in spores, Corrin turns into a godsdang dragon and launches everyone around them clear into the sky... To say that there is no variety going on with this attack archetype (or that it's the sign of a Fire Emblem character, for that matter) is a serious load of balogna! K. Rool's claim to fame in this regard is that as a Heavy character, he has by far the biggest receiving hitbox to work with, but has comparatively short range to compensate. Oh, and the fact that he doesn't actually use any limbs throughout it- that's a curious little detail, there.
  19. ...Why didn't I think that it'd be a gastly? I knew those were a possibility for what's in the egg, too! Spoilery response to above speculation:
  20. Pardon the lateness here- the video dropped while I was sleep, and then slept through my alarm somehow... R.I.P. sleep schedule, amirite? Aaagh! Dear heavens, why'd you have to go and make bewear aesthetically even worse?! Dayo, on the other hand, has an IV spread that screams 'lemme spam Close Combat!', so uh... glass cannon pupper's a glass cannon. Fair enough. Not quite sure what to make of the dark purple Mystery Egg, though- I don't beieve that deino was one of the options. In any case, it's pretty clear by now that it isn't one of the team entries (otherwise you would've marked the video post with a second name), so whatever, I guess. Police Chief at the end of the last episode: "This is obviously a trap, but we're going after him anyway!" Police Chief at the start of this episode: "Things have taken a turn for the worse!" Gee! I wonder why that happened! *#BlatantSarcasm* Really, though, trying to corner a Poison Gym Leader who's part of a clearly technologically advanced organization in his own home base wasn't exactly the greatest of ideas. Evidently, we showed up just late enough to be okay, but still... Spoilers for later in the game, to those whom have this as their first journey: Though once again, I find myself wondering what was supposed to be difficult with thus version of the battle with Corey. I beat him on my first try, you seem to have beaten him first try... I mean, you practically swept through half his team with only one pokemon, and the other three that participated all got a KO in as well! My guess is that you would've let Azalea in on the fun if she weren't higher leveled than the rest of the party when you went into it- he really wouldn't have stood a chance if you didn't have that handycap! I hadn't realized that Corrosive Mist's buff to Venom Drench allowed it to strike through Poison immunities, though- that was kinda neat to see i action even if it did come out too lat to be useful. ...And it took me until writing the above section to realize that Corey's name stems from 'corrosion'. Welp. Yeeg, I forgot that the absol showed up here. If Corey's words hadn't given you the hint on what he plans on doing yet, remembering what happened the last time that thing showed up should do the trick... You know, I've always felt bad for Corey's crobat. Johto's addition to the most annoying line in Gen. 1 was quite the touching one, and seeing Silver's golbat finally evolve before the last battle against him was one of my favorite bits of team-based characterization in the main series. Moreso than any other pokemon (except silvally, nowadays), a trainer's relationship with crobat is based off of trust- and Corey just tactlessly broke that trust. Sure, it made sense for him to release his pokemon before what he did, but... that was way too harsh, in my eyes... Minor Spoilers, But Spoilers Nonetheless: Fern, you're a godsdamned jerkwad. This is why nobody likes you! Hmm, still not sure who this Savage is, to be honest. At least, he hasn't shown up in person where I currently am in the story... Regardless, that was a spot more insight into the background of Reborn than Terra's interview was! ...And, how I didn't see that cliffhanger coming, I'll never know. Current Death Toll: 8 Major Decisions Made: 1
  21. This isn't the sort of fighting style you typically see from a character keyed to the element of Water, is it?
  22. Initiating Socialization Protocol Version 3.4.2 ERROR. Unknown Variable Detected. Initialization Process Will Now Be On Standby While Scanning Internet For Data On Variable "Bean". Scan Inconclusive; Only Data Found Is That They Should Not Be In Many Places. Socialization Protocol 3.4.2 Will Now Shut Down Until Further Notice. Er, I mean, Welcome to this wondrous realm we call the Reborn Evolved Forums! Be sure to read up on the rules, feel free to check out all that we have to offer, and above all else, enjoy your stay and ignore the flaw in my programming!
  23. Is this 3 Badges specifically, or three Gym Battles? That's a pretty massive distinction with this game never mind the lack of anything that's required between Never After and the scuffle in the Fiore Mansion's pool! But yeah, I feel like that's fair- the other projects are a fair bit older, and have their own fan followings to worry about. One can't keep everyone happy, mayhaps, but you can try somewhat please as many folks as possible regardless~!
  24. Er, that went off on an odd tangent with no clear transition, so I can really only guess what you're trying to say, but I'll respond to what I understood from it. Namely, the Link from Majora's Mask is already in the game- he just doesn't do any MM-exclusive stuff due to the fact that he's also the OoT Link. It's certainly a shame, given how unique the Mask mechanics were compared to what the rest of them had in their arsenal, especially since OG Link's Bomb Rune (and both the Clawshot and the Gale Boomerang before that) show that the team is willing to alter the characters' movesets somewhat to fit the advancements in their character. If nothing else, dropping the Fierce Deity's Mask instead of the weird, made-up Triforce thingiemajigger would've given him a falshier way to further differentiate Young Link from Toon...
