  1. Did you intentionally name yourself after the Ace Attorney character of the same name?

  2. This guy are sick.

  3. I can't really say that Xenoblade Chronicles X "stole my heart" like Xenoblade Chronicles 1 and 2 have.

As predictable as the Stories that XC1 and XC2 might have been, they still captivated me, enough to become a fanboy.

XCX's story just... sucked. It's not a bad game, but it's probably the MGSV and Final Fantasy XV of its own franchise.

  4. As a Smash Ultimate Cloud Main, I will never not find this funny.

  5. Why... won't my profile show all of my past posts?

    Is this another bug?

Yeah it happened again.  It will probably be fixed in a few weeks or a month before eventually happening again.  You can still see everything on "see my activity" like the other times this has happened.

    2. ShadeStrider

      ShadeStrider

Already did that. Nothing shows up.

From there you have to click on the tab for the activity you are looking for (posts, status updates, status replies, etc).  It's not in all one concise list, but it's the best there is at the moment and everything should be there.

  6. I never really get offended by video games.

If it's edgy for the sake of being edgy, that doesn't cut me.

If it contains derogatory stereotypes, that's just an artistic choice.

Honestly, If I download a game from steam, and the intro says that "This isn't a game. This is just a recruitment video for the Klu Klux Klan", I'd be like, "ehh, if the soundtrack's good..."

But set your game in a historic setting and get something inaccurate, and you'll make my blood boil.

      What about Incineroar in Smash?

    2. ShadeStrider

      ShadeStrider

Historically, Smash Bros Reps are not offensively ugly.

So yeah, Incineroar’s Inclusion is a historical inaccuracy.

Why does this work so well?

NOTE: This is not the original song. This is just Silvagunner meming.

  8.

    Remember DL-6.

The Prosecutor's name is "Elseworth", which sounds like "Edgeworth".

  9. I am the Senate.

  10. So, @not Azery How did you set all the IVs to 31? Which script did you mess with? I want to know. I know Ruby, so I guess it's an extremely simple code?
  11. I am forever confident in my belief that Persona 3 is better than Persona 4.

Persona 4 may be more polished, but the story, characters, and even boss fights are far more intriguing in Persona 3. A lot of Persona 4 characters fail to live up to their Persona 3 counterparts.

    1. doombotmecha

      doombotmecha

I agree with Shade here. 4 just seems like it pulls it's punches compared to 3 and 5 in order to just be the "happy" game for recovering from 3. Which tbf the series needed since you basically commit suicide in 3, but it's still unsatisfying in it's execution.

Also kanji's whole arc and palace make a mockery of gay people, which is just rude and uncalled for.

    2. ShadeStrider

      ShadeStrider

      @doombotmecha

To be fair, about Gay Characters, Apparently one of the Persona games Prior to three was able to portray a homosexual in a way that felt mature and realistic. I haven't Played Persona 1 or 2 (Yet), but this is what I heard.

I believe his name was Jun Kurosu. He was apparently one of the romance options for the MC.

    3. doombotmecha

      doombotmecha

Yeah, that makes this even weirder. We had a canon gay guy in 2, lesbian romance routes in p3p.... and then a camp gay joke arc in 4 and barely anything besides a bartender who might be a drag queen in 5. It's just regressive. That's all.

  12. I can say that Pokemon Red and Blue are the first games that I played that feature allies that are collectible, and has actually aged quite well.

Only because Shin Megami Tensei 1 has not aged well. The combat is broken, and the Overworld is a headache to explore.

    1. Wolfox

      Wolfox

To be fair, Gen 1 didn't exactly age like a fine wine either. More like milk in the sun

    2. ShadeStrider

      ShadeStrider

But at least Gen 1 had a usable overworld. Shin Megami Tensei 1's overworld is not fun to explore, really. The First Person perspective and the fact that the Map isn't on the screen to guide you solidifies that.

And the Combat was at least more than "Spam Zio to win".

Seriously, Zio is the most broken spell in that game. Why did the programmers feel the need to do that?

The Story is really the only thing that kept me going. But that's when it fails as a "video game". And the Story itself falls short compared to Nocturne or Apocalypse.

  13. You think Maybe, regarding Fangames, Nintendo should adopt Valve's model?

Valve literally allows you to mod their games and then sell the modded game on Steam.

Maybe Nintendo could do something like that.

Valve, of course, gets a cut of the profits. So, It's like they are getting paid to do nothing. It's reason enough for them to continue this.

    1. Wolfox

      Wolfox

on the one hand maybe, but on the other, that could hugely conflict with other games Nintendo brings on the market. for example: someone mods Botw to be a TW or OoT remake, and sells it for less than TP or OoT, Nintendo probably loses money from that. and while for the fans the modding and selling of mods may be kinda good, the more money it costs Nintendo the less they'll be able to do themselves.

  14. Without a doubt, the best Persona Main Protagonist design is Persona 3's.

    Minato Arisato for Smash Bros.

    Spoiler

If you think he should be in as a Joker echo, then you a degenerate and should be ashamed. He deserves better than that.

He deserves better than being a Mii fighter as well.

  15. Shuji Ikutsuki is a filthy traitor.

  17. There was a shooting at my school. UNCC Charlotte.

2 People Died, 4 people were injured.

I was attending Sociology class when it happened.

I was at McEniry Building, which was very close to the Kennedy Hall, where the shooting happened.

I don't think I've ever been in as much of a panic as I was then.

  18. I actually don’t think many people here know how revolutionary Half Life 1 or 2 were, and what they did for storytelling in Video Games as a whole.

If you do understand, than reply to this with your interpretation.

  19. You know, even if we consider Video Games an art form... we still do expect a product when we purchase one.

But, say you wanted a Painting to make your house look prettier. If it looks extremely ugly, you wouldn't really buy it for your house, right? You are expecting a product. But it doesn't change the fact that Paintings are an art form, even that ugly one.

But most of the time, when a creator puts enough love and hard work into it, then any of these things naturally become both a competent product and a good representation of that art form.

If anything, Video Games are the best at being a demonstration of both Art and Technology, to an extent that even Movies just can't reach.

    1. ShadeStrider

      ShadeStrider

And yeah, like any Storytelling Medium, the purpose of a Video Game is to keep you immersed. The difference is that Video Game's have a lot more tools at their disposal compared to Movies and books.

A Book's only real tools in keeping a reader immersed are the style of the writer and the story. If either one of those fails, then the Book becomes extremely boring and the reader will lose interest. And Who can blame the reader?

But a Game can still preserve immersion through Gameplay even if the Story is absolutely terrible. It definitely means that that Game will be viewed on a level below other games with competent or masterful narratives. But it is still, at its core, a competent game.

    2. ShadeStrider

      ShadeStrider

But if a game breaks the immersion, then it is a poor representation of its art form. Just like a poorly written book.

  20. The best Zeldas are the always the dark Zeldas.

So Nintendo, how dark can you go?

Instead of having Link save Zelda from Ganondorf, why not have him save her from a heroin addiction? And then Fail.

  21. Think this should be shared with everyone.

  22. I'm actually impressed that Joseph Mengele held out as long as he did.

If he had been caught by the Allies, he would have undoubtedly be sentenced to hang once they found out how he treated Holocaust Victims, especially the children. The medical malpractice and inhumane experiments that he conducted during the Holocaust still give me nightmares, like the famous "conjoined twins" experiment.

But the man himself held out for 34 years as a fugitive. He escaped the Nuremberg trials because the Allies thought he was dead. He managed to get a fake ID and live under it for a while. He worked as a carpenter for a while.

When a request was made for him to be extradited in Argentina, It wasn't approved until after he fled to Paraguay.

The Israeli Intelligence Agency (Mossad) was on a Manhunt for him. But he managed to avoid them.

How did he go out? He was never caught. He was swimming, one day, and he had a stroke. Then he drowned. He was buried under the name "Wolfgang Gerhard".

I absolutely do not condone his activities during the Holocaust. If you are a sane human being, then you wouldn't, either. But... I can't help but be impressed by how long he held out after the Holocaust.

    1. ShadeStrider

      ShadeStrider

I sometimes wonder if the man himself had a consciousness. He probably didn't.

Or maybe he did, but it was extremely twisted one. Rolf Mengele, his son, claimed that when he last visited his father, he found an unrepentant Nazi who claimed that he never hurt anyone. In some ways, that's even worse.

We could interpret this that he didn't consider his victims to be people. I actually think that that's what he meant. Evidently, this man didn't feel things like remorse.

    2. ShadeStrider

      ShadeStrider

I actually decided to look up the person, because I had a fever dream involving the man. But the panic that I felt during that dream would probably have been nothing compared to actually facing the man.

And there are people who had to live their entire lives remembering their encounters with him. like that Mossad Agent's mom. I cannot imagine how they felt.

So much as telling a child about his experiments would probably create an emotionally traumatized child. Yet their are children who had to actually face the man. Telling a person about a horror, vs actually witnessing that horror... there is a world of difference.

    3. Josef

      Josef

My former friend at Mossad told me how his mother found out that Mengele had killed her mother. He was doing some kind of "surgery" on her and when she started crying for her mom Mengele put on a creepy smile and told her to get used to the idea of never seeing her mother again. What made this man into the person he was wasnt just a lack of conscience. He was sadistic and actually enjoyed physically and psychologically tormenting others. Maybe he later lied to himself when told his son that he never hurt anyone, however, there was an Austrian female doctor named Ella Lingens who was imprisoned in Auschwitz for resisting the Nazi regime and she later gave testimony that Mengele made great efforts to cover his tracks and even tried to bribe her as a doctor in order to have a witness for his claim that all he ever did was normal medical and anthropological research. He also ordered all of his surviving victims and witnesses to be killed before he fled Auschwitz and the only reason why the SS did not comply with that order was because they had run out of Zyklon B by the wars end and some of them decided not to use bullets instead. I believe that Mengele was fully aware of what he did and that he actually relished in it.

  25. In one of my many posts on the Gaming General board, I mentioned the concept of a Persona game in Victorian Age London and starring Minato Arisato.

You Know, a Shin Megami Tensei or Persona game that takes place in Victorian Age London doesn't actually sound like a bad Idea. I want to see this happen.

Igor, Master of the Violet Room, would definitely fit right in.

If they styled it like Black Butler, then I could see it being extremely interesting.
