Honestly at this poinht, getting a 2ds/3ds is probably going to be a not wise purchase soon, especially since the thing is like 2 years oild already, and the nintendo NX is going to be released soon. (which will effectively render the nintendo 3ds obsolete)

Unless you're going for the gaiden (25 turns), take it very slow. Wait out the siege tomes and, if possible, lure out enemies 1-2 at a time.

The difficulty spike was horrifying. That said, for the chapter, you'll want to rush it a bit in the first few turns, so you can stop the only thief reinforcement coming from the bottom right of the map. After that, you can crawl through the map at your leisure.

That's a nasty pun. And yes, that five-turn limit would probably kill that ability. Though, some people would probably find a way to make it work, anyway. Maybe something with Skill Swap in doubles.

You could check out the Fan-Game Expose. There's quite a few projects in there with similar ideas to Reborn and Rejuv. There's also Zeta/Omnicron from the same folks who made Insurgence, but I haven't played them myself. You have played through the four most well known, however, so good for you.

Fun fact, when Insurgence was initially released that team was the default team for the first gym. Enough people complained about it that it was eventually nerfed until the different difficulties were released.

I agree, those early gyms are tough as hell. But part of the difficulty is just not having enough options to win, or you just didn't anticipate what you needed. It gets better after gym 3, when you have strong pokemon of your own
