  1. It certainly was an interesting read and you bring up a good point. I do aggree that with each Gen the amount of roadblocks increased. The reason for this is probably the lowered difficulty curve across gaming which required a way to force people into the full extent of the game to maximize the playing time. This in my opinion backfired in gen 3 by opening the oceaan and not forcing me fully through it which means I did not fully explore missing valuable exp which resulted in a difficulty/level spike around the elite 4. The argument about gym leaders is also pretty interesting and I see experimentations with the concepts you just suggested in fangames. Fangames like reborn and rejuvenation don't do this because they have heavily story driven and can't afford the bigger cast. But desolation does some experimentation with the concept by lowering their influence throughout your story. Spork is another fangame that I feel plays with the concept. Some gym leaders serve as a decoration for the world rather than a plot device. It is very interesting to see how the fangame commnity deals with these issues.
  2. Well I'm not sure on this mechanic in itself. The thing I get from this mechanic is that they are ingame items which replicate movess and that they can't be used in the overworld. Now to be fair, they most likely can't be used in official gym matches because let's be real if they were to be used once, (In game) Ame would be informed. Ame would then crack down with new rules. Even then I wouldn't really be sold on this mechanic. The reason for this is not story/morality driven but rather this. The items directly empower the player in battle. One of the big complaints is that the players have little control in the overworld. You can't stop Garchomp, you can't stop your ruby ring getting stolen (twice), you can't apprehend villains, you can't move grunts/people, you can't destroy some small gate, ... . This is compeltely in contrast with battle where the player has full control. Now these items directly empower the player more, they have actions that affect pokemon but they can't use it outside battle. This widens the difference between overworld and battle even more. "Basically I can tase a tyranitar but not Fern/Taka/Grunt...?" "Or a use shield generator to protect Kiki?" So much options which can't be used.
  3. I think I just created a monster:

  4. Yes, you need to go to Silph Co and talk with the female assistant there.
  5. I'm not sure 450 base stats is a good indicator of strong. Chansey has a base stat of 450 and diggersby has one of 423 but these are strong pkmn. Chimeco however is classified as strong. A pokemon I really like is gastrodon. It was such a good typing and was a fantastic wall in reborn. It also has a great movepool with recover and a breedle stockpile.
  6. You need to talk with the judge and when you leave thfight cllub you will get ambushed which starts the deino sidequest.
  7. I think we all aggree that both sides are not favorable to join. However I'm not sure of the path of neutrality. Well the path of neutrality might end you getting crushed between the two opposing forces. In this case you allow both side to amass more power which ends in a city ruining conflict which might be what Team Xen wants considering the way Team Xen handled Blacksteeple castle. It wouldn't surprise that Bladestar could steal the rift matter only because Team Xen allowed it. Also if you try to interfere in that conflict you they might team up on you. So it might be interesting to side with one side , use it to crush the other side quickly while at the same time working to betray the side you just joined. Like Erin is doing if you joined team bladestar. So that leaves siding with Cassandra and Flora. Both sides have their pro's and cons, Flora has not as much power as cassandra but I feel her power base is more stable/loyal. Cassandra has a broader support but can it lose it easier. Team Xen can easily let her fall and she can lose the support of the city easily if it is found out she has ties with Team Xen. Personally I would rather side with Team bladestar because the enemy of my enemy is my friend. Siding with Team Xen (through cassandra) just leaves with less room to move.
  8. It is explored a little bit further what happened to Geara.
  9. I think you can help the person that locked himself out.
  10. I just noticed made a mistake in the formula. (RNG*moveOptions*SecondaryMoveffect+SwitchOptions+PlayerItemUsage)*(RNG*moveOptions*SecondaryMoveffect+SwitchOptions+AiItemUsage)= (15*4*2+5+30)*(15*4*2+5+2) = 19 685 @Titania I know the AI knows the moves but there still are more then 81 options both the AI and the player can take: items. The AI in general has less then 2 items at it's disposal but a set of full heals and full restores are certainly an option. The player however has a bunch of items at its disposal: potion, super potion, hyper potion, ultra potion, ... , revive, max revive, antidote, .... , ether, elixer, ..., oran berry, pecha berry, ..., x speed, x attack, ..., poke ball, premier ball, great ball,... .Now not all those items are applicable all the time but 30 seems like a good estimate. It sounds like a lot but if you can use items on pkmn in the party suddenly that number begins to look very small. So suddenly your move options become 39*11=429 pairs of options. Also how often do you think a kill occurs? I mean my poor lvl 36 pheromosa cannot OHKO a lvl 31 swirlix with jump kick or stomp which is at that point my best possible move or a steelix and this is 137 base attack then you have sturdy, focus sash, screens, ... . So for a lot of turns you will have to calculate potential side effects of moves. Also 1 HP can matter, not only for clutch survival but for things like belly drum, blaze,... so you have to be very carefull with what you generalize into one gamestate. So you still have to calculate a lot of different possible gamestates. For a final food of thought how can the AI deal with metronome?
  11. I kinda like Cinccino on his team. Well the set is extremely basic, I kinda like the gimmick of it. Having a 41% chance to flinch is not that bad in my opinion. There are way worse sets. What I absolutely love about his Cinccino is that it screams Normal. It is one of those typical forest critters that one associate with normal. It's like doing a flying mono with gyarados, minior, mantine, drifblim, rotom-F and salamance. None these pokemon represent the flying type in my opinion. I kinda have the same feeling with most of Noëls team.
  12. I feel IV's, nature , egg moves and breeding are failed idea in itself. IV's and natures served to differentiate pkmn from the same species from each other, just like EV served to differentiate trained pokemon over wild pokemon. I think it failed in that regard; for the majority of the pkmn I don't think their purpose would change depending on said IV/natures. You can say what you want but no amount of IV's/nature will make me want to run a physical gardevoir. I also treat all my opponents pokemons based on species, ability and moves. However what we do see is that in our own desire for perfectionism/best odds people tend to breed/soft reset pkmn for good natures, IV's,... . Instead of adapting to the nature/Iv's we just select the pkmn with the right natures/Iv's. However IV's make for better pkmn. Take for instance Gardevoir again. The difference between 0 Iv's and 31 Iv's is staggering. The perfect lvl 100 Gardevoir has 12.6% more HP, 23.1% more attack, 22.9% more defense, 12.1% more special attack, 13.2% more special defense and 18.7% more speed. A psychock from the perfect gardevoir performs 55.1% better than the psychock of the weakest gardevoir when they are matched against each other. So Iv's/natures are relevant but they do not result in the desired outcome in my opinion. Egg moves/hidden abilities are a bit more different but i really wished you didn't need to discard your pkmn for a better version of the same pokemon.
  13. @Titania, I don't think anybody could play reborn because of the sheer requirements the PC need to have to play the game. How many gamestates do you expect to be made/saved during a single battle? I'm going to say that a turn branches with : (RNG*(moveOptions+SwitchOptions)*SecondaryMoveffect+PlayerItemUsage)*(RNG*(moveOptions+SwitchOptions)*SecondaryMoveffect+AiItemUsage)= (15*(4+5)*2+30)*(15*(4+5)*2+2) = 81 600 per turn. RNG is the damage modifier which is a random number between 0.85 and 1.00. We then haven't factored in abilities, potential speed ties, ... . These branches have to be calculated on their result at the very least so you sit with 81600 gamestates to be clalculated for the first turn only.
  14. Hold on your horses. I see 17% to go and a lot of them are in A.I. which can backfire quite easily. So for all we know, that will be done in a year. After that extensive testing needs to be done because gen 7 and the new A.I. which might mean Ame has to rebalance the game or the A.I. has to be modified. So be calm the episode will be out when it's ready.
  15. Took me one try to break the human calculator. What a disgrace.

  17. Well I have 2 runs. I don't have a bench though like a lot of players. The first one: Team MVP Pkmn that used to be on the team The second one: Team MVP PKMN that used to be on the team
  18. Welcome to reborn. Hope you enjoy your stay.
  19. Yes there is a nature swapper in the 7th street. ALso Lucario will gets its hidden ability justified. EDIT: Just to be sure? What are you playing? Rejuvenation or reborn?
  20. Ok, the timbur puzzle. If you are interesting into getting Samson's ace and the mascot from Agate Circus you need to solve a puzzle. Not a simple sliding or swapping puzzle but a rotation puzzle. In this puzzle the tiles are in the right place but not are not in the right rotation. It is your job to rotate them back so from this: to this: Not so difficult? Here's the catch: if your rotate a tile all its adjacent tiles are rotated as well. This means you are rotating 3-5 tiles every turn making the puzzle a lot harder. To make it worse the puzzle is randomized and therefore is every case different. However in this guide I will provide the solution to solve the Timburr puzzle and all 4X4 Rotation puzzles (like in Insurgenc). STEP 1: FIX THE TOP ROW The first step is to put each tile in order by rotating the tile below it. As an example to fix the tile with the gree border you rotate the tile below. Because the tile below is chosen any other tiles in the first row are not disturbed. So the first row of your puzzle should look like this: STEP 2: FIX THE SECOND ROW In this step the secod row is fixed. Just like in the previous step, only tiles of the third row should be used. This way the first row is not disturbed. So first and second row of your puzzle should look this: STEP 3: FIX THE THIRD ROW Same as before fix the thrid row by rotating the tiles in the last row. So the first three rows should be like this: Step 4: CHOOSE YOUR CASE Now if you are lucky you get the solved puzzle. Good job, rng favored you. If not, you have your work cut out for you. This is why the puzzle is stupid, the randomizing process can make this puzzle either in a very easy puzzle to a ridicously difficult puzzle to crack. So for those who are unlucky you could soft reset for a better puzzle or you can continue this guide. After the first three steps you can get to 4 possible outcomes including the finished puzzle. So for the 3 remaining patterns I will post how many times you have to rotate each tile to get to the solution. CASE 1: 4 TILES WRONG Solution CASE 2: 2 CORNER TILES WRONG Solution CASE 3: 2 BORDER TILES WRONG Solution STEP 5: ENJOY YOUR TIMBURR So yeah that's how you do the Timburr puzzle and any 4 X 4 rotation puzzle. If you find any new cases for the fourth step of this puzzle please either PM me or post a message her. I tested the puzzles a lot of times and only the 4 patterns show up. Also feedback on this guide is welcomed.
