  1. ok i lied not my only time responding to this thread, but i'd not look into this too deep considering that this bit of information has become obsolete in the current iteration of the game (and any future ones as well). While this was indeed something mentioned during the game's intro on the S.S. Oceana in older versions, it's no longer accurate and it's probably best to just let it slide! It's a remnant of the older versions of the game and no longer holds any value lmao
  2. I don't make the teams, but I'm pretty sure it's a mix of it having fit the character thematically, along with difficulty. Some characters are known to have a bias for certain types (or in Erin's case, color) so it becomes automatically easier to work with. It's finding a healthy balance of what makes sense for the character and what is strong enough for at that point in the game. Most rival characters let go of their type bias however, and just received teams that are more all-round than anything else, but still work with their characters. I'm sure Alex or Azery would probably be able to enlighten you more on the matter, but I'm pretty sure that what I said is the gist of it.
  3. so i could be posting this in the official art thread, but really i don't care enough to do so since it's not really super official anyways, and also slightly outdated lmao the situation is that this drawing was initially made for a video that would contain a remake of flora's battle theme (the one used for the fight at eclysia pyramid), but considering that kinda fell through due to that i was unable to recreate it to an extent that i was actually satisfied with it or that it sounded good, the art kinda lost its purpose so here! have some art of flora and sierra. the latter is an admin from team splicer, the evil team in pokemon xenogene -- my own cancelled fangame, and where the song used for flora's fight initially came from.
  4. Fal (Falirion) was doing a run with Gyarados to show that it's possible to solo Rejuv intense for almost the entirety of the game with Gyarados. Gyarados is currently not legally obtainable in the game as they were debugged in, but it IS pretty undeniable proof that putting it as obtainable anytime soon is a bad idea LOL
  5. you expect us to add in the gameplay system of a wholly different game??? i know it's pokemon but like come on dude, you're expecting something unrealistic here, rejuv isn't a fighting game also if you had checked the status bar on the dev blog anytime today, you would've seen that progress is still being made. please be patient. As for this, we're doing good! Jan was on a break for a week or so so he hasn't been working on the game during that time, but I think it's safe to say that he's returned in full force. He's been feeling inspired and ready to work on the game, particularly for the main story of V13 content, so expect the status of that department to make leaps! I can't disclose what the content entails of course, but he's been having fun with it, so that's definitely a good sign!

  8. The one time I'm actually gonna respond to this topic to clarify something; it's really just genetics! Kenneth and Deagan are basically the in-game equivalent of hispanic, and hispanic people vary quite a bit in skin tone. Deagan and Kenneth likely have different complexions as the result of their parents having different complexions as well, kinda like how Amber inherited Deagan's complexion while Tesla's skin is lighter than Amber's. And uh... Let's not mention that Kenneth's been through some shit. His health absolutely has taken a huge toll over the course of time -- He's a lot paler as Keta as he probably would've been had he been healthier.
  9. I'm not going to pin this or make a whole dev blog post about it, but today I spent some time making a character sorter! Essentially it allows you to pick your favourite between two characters from a selection of predetermined characters, and will keep doing so until it's done sorting. After it's done, it'll show a table with a ranking from most to least favourite character based on the characters you picked in each battle. Kinda looks like the image below! There's only 24 in the image, but the list went all the way to 82. There's also options to filter by chapter, affiliation, or filter out specific genders or the rift mons. That way you can get your faves from any specific set of characters you want! There's about 88 characters and rift mons in the sorter right now, but I might add more characters later down the road (probably with only sprites for icons though -- mostly because there's no official art for a lot of characters). You might be busy for a while going through them. Feel free to post your results here! Or, if you find mistakes for some filters, please let me know as well. There might be some oversights, but I'll do my best to fix them ASAP. Enjoy!

  11. I'm not going to make a long winded post up front since I'm sure all of you want me to just get to the point, so without further ado... Here are your winners! There's a bit of a catch though. The plan was to give 1st place the illustration, and that stays that way! Aelita will be receiving a full illustration to go along with V13's release. However, the idea had surfaced while the polls were open to give 2nd and 3rd place artwork as well, which I really liked. Therefore, Erin will also be receiving a full illustration that will be released after V13 comes out, during V14's development. But then there's Melia.... And as much as I might probably disappoint some people with this, Melia has been featured in a lot of artwork already. After some discussion with the rest of the dev team, we've decided that the illustration will be given to Venam instead, who placed 4th! That way we can keep things fresh, and give a character that hasn't had as big of a chance in the art spotlight a full illustration instead. This illustration will also be released during V14's development, though it's possible it'll release alongside V14 instead if there's too little time to work on a second full piece. Hope you guys are looking forward to the art regardless! Now, back to the poll results... I did have to purge a couple of submissions or deem some invalid due to them being repeat votes of the same thing in the same submission (or reborn characters... im looking at the ppl who voted adrienn despite me having said the cameo characters dONT COUNT), so not *all* of the votes are listed -- especially for the things/people that only got one vote -- but here's a couple of the funnier ones we've seen between the answers/votes! "PIRATE VALARIE AND HER BABIES (me)" "that edgy guy with the latios i forgot his name" (Damien) "YE, ye, Ye", three votes in the same submission "Geara's left shoe 1, 2 and 3" "Ninja Nim" "Pupper Master" "i don't even remember what the characters are named at this point, sry for wasting your time have a nice day" "Kanye west" So, how do you guys feel about the results?   12. thank you cass for your bravery and hard work. i understand only about half of any of this because i'm smooth brain and blank the moment i stare at any code, but it's very, very clear that you've put a ton of effort into this and that you're doing god's work tbh. you're a blessing to all of the ppl who run their games on older versions. godspeed you magnificent bastard
  13. We've always been aware of the possibility of receiving a C&D, and are prepared for it in the case it happens. Reborn as a whole though is a different story, but it seems to be a recurring theme that fangames only receive C&D upon its champion release, so it's possible that the unfinished games will remain untouched. Either way, we'll find a way to avoid getting hit by the hammer prematurely, so I wouldn't worry too much about it for now. We'll cross that bridge when we get there.

  15. To make it clear and ALWAYS able to find back; No, we are not adding Dynamaxing in V13. However, to not let the Gmax forms go to waste, the Gmax mons will be added as custom megas and have their own mega stones added for it. can we please stop asking this question now thanks

The artwork is usually done afterwards, but there's a couple of cases where the art is done prior to the sprites, or is elaborated on prior to the characters having an actual battle sprite or VS portrait. Case 1: A character needs a redesign and doesn't have accurate sprites. The result is that the sprite is based on the art. This was the case for Rorim B, Rift Chandelure, and Volta for example, who needed redesigns and had their art done up front in that case so entirely new sprites can be made for them. Case 2: A character has an overworld sprite, but no battle or VS sprite yet. The result is that some creative liberties are taken with the design when drawing on a larger scale. Most designs are done while working closely with Jan, but there's a couple of cases where I get to let my own creativity have the free run. This was the case for i.e. Indriad, Mosely, Jolene and Nastasia. Designs like this usually had overworld sprites that were a bit ambiguous, so it gives a more clear idea as of what the character is wearing without making any super drastic changes. Another older example of this is Flora in her Bladestar outfit, which had (iirc) an overworld sprite already at the time, but for the cover art of V8 I got to do my own take on her outfit, which is a l m o s t the same as the current one she's wearing. Sometimes the art is used as reference to update some existing overworld sprites, for i.e. hairstyle, color usage and overall detailing of the sprites, which you'll actually be seeing the result of in V13 for a handful of characters. It's a bit of a back and forth process in that sense, and it's not really fully set in stone what's done first. Most of the currently existing designs were decided almost entirely by Jan (with a bit of my own additions here and there), but there's gonna be some more designs in the future which I've had more of a hand in (still while working together with Jan ofc), so I'm very excited for ppl to see those!
  17. Yes! In one of Jan's previous posts you can actually see one of the artworks being used -- others will also be used in similar fashion, either pre battle or as an introduction to the character if you don't battle them.

So I know I said in my previous character update post that I'd do one more character art batch, a rift mon and then *maybe* a bonus batch for some of the sidequest characters, but... well, let's just explain it like this: the angel on my left shoulder said "keep the work split up in several batches and spread it over time so you don't get burnt out!" the devil on my right shoulder said "DO EVERYTHING AS FAST AS POSSIBLE IN ONE BIG BATCH SO YOU CAN GET TO V13 STUFF FASTER" so of course i kicked the angel straight out of the window and did the thing the little devil told me to do. and i didn't get burnt out either! so i see that as a victory. heaven can suck it. im walking backwards into hell facing god flipping the bird at him ANYWAYS, my ramblings aside... This is the final batch of character art that will be publicly released prior to V13. It includes all of the remaining characters from Chapter 14, several characters from the more significant sidequests, as well as all of the remaining rift mons. In this final batch we have Aelita (3rd), Lorna, Alice, Allen, Sakitron, Amandabot, Ryland (Posessed), Kieran, [REDACTED], Isha, Delpha, Karen, Karrina, Spector, Ana, Dylan, Volta, Jolene and Goomink for the characters, and for the rift mons we have Chandelure (which got a slight redesign!), Ferrothorn, Gardevoir, Hippowdon and Dufaux! Let's take a look below! CHARACTERS RIFT MONS *EXHALES* i can't fucking believe that i did all of these in one go. oh my good fucking god. and now i'm done. that's 109 character and mon drawings done in a little less than half a year. am i dead? maybe. was it worth it? absolutely. Anyways, as always, all of the art can be found back in the official art thread, along with bonus icons, wallpapers and links to the full resolution versions of all the individual works! I've also uploaded versions of the rift mons without the rift background (since i finally got off my ass and decided to free carnivine from being stuck to a background lsdhfjdsfk) so you can use those for whatever purposes too. So yeah! That about wraps it up for me with the frequent updates on the dev blog for now. I'm done hogging the place for the time being and won't be posting unless I've got some other graphics update that's significant enough that it's worth making a post about. Unfortunately for those who are interested in the art side of things, I'm pretty certain that all the work from this point on out for me is V13 related, and therefore I very likely can't show it off until V13 itself is actually out, so for now I'll be handing the dev blog back to Jan and quit flooding the place with my nonsense lasjdkgagdsjfask Thank you all so much for the support and kind words you guys have given throughout the past couple of months while I was working on these! I'm honestly so incredibly happy I was able to bring all of the characters and rift mons to life in their artwork.   20. Yes! If i.e. trick toom is active at the time of the frozen field activating, it essentially freezes the effects of those moves in place and will not be removed after a set amount of turns unless the field is changed again.

  22. mmmmaaaaaaaaaaaybe not the first thing you'd expect to show up, huh? Well, here it is anyways! Welcome to Rejuvenation's first official character popularity poll - we're here to measure which characters you like the most! "But Zumi, why is this a thing now all of a sudden?", I hear you think, to which I say; Well, dear reader, this popularity poll is to determine who is getting the next bonus wallpaper. For V11 we had Angie and for V12 we had Ryland -- though both of them were internal choices (and with internal i mean my own choices HAHA), so I felt it'd be cool to have the audience vote for the next character that receives a special illustration! Even though I'm already doing a crazy amount of work for V13 (I'm working on the next batch of characters already), I don't mind going the extra mile and throw in another fully rendered illustration for people to enjoy along with V13's release when that time comes around. Any votes that do not adhere to the rules displayed upon opening the form will not be counted and deemed as invalid. You need a Google account to vote, and you have only one shot at voting.
