Eh, not that Jan won't take a break, but he's most likely going to work on V9 pretty soon as it's going to be one of the more exciting arcs of the game. A year or two of a break is not going to happen, honestly.

The encounters that the Zumi NPC asks for are fairly rare, if not the rarest encounter on the routes. Slakoth is indeed the rarest encounter on Route 3 and only has about 1% chance of being encountered because of it, so you may have to look around longer. -
You just gotta use the numbers at the bottom of the page to navigate to older topics. I don't know why it happens either, but it's not a massive problem as there's a different and just as easily accessible way to navigate topics.

Actually, I don't think there ever was an option to change the difficulty, as it's always been chosen at the beginning of the game. I don't think you were able to change it halfway through to begin with.

Regarding Reborn's Character Reference for Arts.

If you go in the graphics folder for Reborn, you can find all of the overworld sprite sheets in the characters folder. You could try to use that for reference, but aside from that I don't think there's a lot you can use for reference otherwise. -
