  1. Dirty as hell but man that's really cool. Insane how much the field actually works against him.
  2. Mankey is basically the rattata of fighting types, early game good, accessible and quick enough, but peaks early and gets outclassed hard later on.
  3. Medicham's high jump kick hits HARD, can easily take out a 3rd to a half. nosepass gets thunder wave AND sturdy which can slow Arceus down(just remember he has full heals so keep spamming it. Destiny bond can take down pretty much anything in the game, then there's curse and perish song. Also note that the field can work against El by changing judgement's type into something your pokemon can resist, which usually gives them a 25-75% chance of resisting it depending on the type.
  4. Ame is handicapped ATM So idk, it's gonna be a while.
  5. Wow this is turning out pretty well. Rejuvenation seems a lot friendlier to ground monoruns than Reborn does. Keep it up!
  6. You gotta make this happen now Jan, there's no turning back
  7. I'm going to ignore shiny Gyrados in the lake of rage. Wanted it to be? Sneasel since he was my favorite back then next to Feraligtr. My first? Graveler on Silver's victory road, it was the morning, and I got it to half health than chucked an ultra ball. It got out after two shakes then blew up.
  8. This happens in every game, but what are some initial impressions or guesses you had on characters that ended up totally wrong later on? -I thought Amaria was going to be the player's love interest. -Thought Titania and Hardy were the same person...just some sprite confusion However... - Also thought Ttania/Hardy was Cal's brother, until I learned Blake was Cal's brother than was like aaaaah. -Thought Titania would kill Amaria later on, betraying her. Shade's gym did made it look like that and I thought she was laughing as she did it, not closing her eyes in sadness. On second replay I realized what was actually happening. -Thought Lin was Flo/Fern's mom. -Didn't realize the girl in shade's gym was Kiki -Thought Aya was going to be a seductress femme fatale type character going by her portrait on this site. She has her tongue out and the purple color scheme would give off that impression, but she's not like that at all. I can see why she got her portrait changed in ep 15(give Charlotte back her smokes please) -Thought Zell only had two personalities -Thought taka was a sarcastic D-bag who is only looking out for himself and plays both sides -Thought Sirius was loyal to Solaris and Lin...but he's really not and just a massive snake, hinted at being the catalyst for much of the protags' suffering. -Completely detested Heather. Admittedly she's the most unlikable character in the game when you first meet her but later on develops into a more likable one. But my lord that scene with shelly and cain in the gym, it just makes you want to punch her.
  9. Yeah it's definitely teal or turquoise. At first I thought she was going to be the player's love interest lol.
  10. TYRANITAR SUPERPOWER ON DA GIRL then amaria is just like "ooof..." like Idk wouldn't getting superpowered by Tyranitar hurt a lot more especially since she got some ribs broken? She should let out a scream or UGYHHHHHH!! or something. A bit more than Ooof. I know she's tough but that part was a little silly as it didn't look believable. Plus it didn't like tyranitar even did that much, maybe a red flash or her flying back a bit when he contacts her to give more impact to the attack. .
  11. - 1 hour later- Man Ame and crew REALLY need to fix that Serra glitch. She owes me an hour of my day back. Must have taken me like 10 tries to beat her a SECOND time because hur dur serra can't deal with walls. All of sorts of things can go wrong for that fight, from Jynx becoming Jesus and dodging everything, to bad rolls screwing up my destiny bond trick, Glaceon surviving a flamethrower because why not, Froslass outspeeding my entire team sans Gotham...ugh. Though taking Ecclair was a mistake in hindsight, should've stuck with Vega. Screens are useless this fight. Time to get a Noivern.
  12. Mirror mirror on the wall, who shall rise and who shall fall? Well here it goes! Serra opens up with Cryogonal, and I figure that Gotham should be strong enough to shatter it with acrobatics, which it does. Off to a solid start. Next is Jynx...ugh not sure where to go from here. On one hand her poor defense makes her fodder for Gotham's acrobatics, but at the same time she might be banded or something. I give Hyperflight the chance to shine although I worry she might outspeed him. Well I'll try detect first to get a speed boost, worst case scenario she puts up a screen.or I miss bug buzz. WTF? Even with a speed boost she still manages to outspeed Hyperflight 0_0? Ugh one frost breath one shots her...yikes, this is going to be tougher than I thought. Well no way she's outspeeding Gotham...got her. Should've just did that in the first place, so far it's 5-4 with me at the advantage. So now it's Glaceon...Jt man YOU GOT THIS. Roasted on arrival, that one was free. 5-3, she's halfway down! Okay so now Vanilluxe...okay correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't Vanilluxe have mirror coat? I don't want Jt getting oneshotted to it as I need him for frosslass. I'll have ecclair set up a light screen here first...which doesn't matter because she used frost breath Well Jt BETTER one shot him....GAH no he survived! Just barely, which means potion spam up the whazoo. Better her than Frosslass though right? Ah well she heals vanilluxe, but the next hit takes her out. Jt is kicking ass this fight. 4-2 as it stands. Okay here comes the DINOGODDESS Aurorus, and the one I was most afraid of. I still have my light screen up luckily. I'm going to send in the ace killer early, do your thing Drifter! And...wow even with a frost breath Drifter survived, but a second destiny bond takes her out. Your valiant sacrifice once again paves the way to victory! 3-1, only Frosslass is left, but it is hailing. Okay, I know Froslass relies on hax, so I have a little plan. Gotham goes out, and I have him haze away those annoying evasion boost. She uses frost breath...AND IT MISSES!? LET'S DO THIS. ACROBATI-MISSES WTF? Ugh and I get hurt? But I thought...w/e, she now has him confused with confuse ray. Ugh screw this noise, I'm sending out Seattle. He eats a frost breath which takes him down to yellow...yeah dude's a goner lol. ALRIGHT Gotham let's try this again! Acrobatics...IT HITS! CRITICAL! Takes her down to like 1 HP? But alas, our purple prince falls to a frost breath. It's just one on one now. It all comes down to this. One frost breath will finish Jt since he's at half health, but so will one flamethrower. The last hit will win. It's hailing, and Frosslass just needs an evasion hax to pull this upset off. But all Jt needs to do is outspeed, and land this freakin hit. Holy crap this is tense. It's down to the wire. The next hit decides it all... ... ... SERRA USED ULTRA POTION...wow you ice hearted bitch. Jt HOWEVER DOES NOT GIVE AN OUNCE OF A @%$# BECAUSE YOUR ASS JUST GOT ROASTED. 1-0, and Serra is DEFEATED. That match was mega hype though, screw snow cloak though lol. ... did serra just get stuck against the wall? FML.
  13. It really is underrated. I think he's the only Destiny bond user you could possibly have early game as well(though if I'm not mistaken it's up to chance whether he has it or not) but it goes suuuuuuch a long way. Not a powerhouse offensively but he doesn't need to be. New wings have joined our flock! Gotham the crobat is all trained up and ready to fly with the big boys! I love how easy it is to happiness evolve in this game BTW, getting full enough happiness in a 15 minute period FTW. He's level 36 with a jolly nature and 31 IV in attack, although his only other good IV is HP(29) while his special defense is a pitiful 6, defense 11 and special attack of 0, which is unneeded anyway at least. Speed is only 16 but I fully EV'd his speed to make up for it + crobat is fast regardless. His attacks are cross poison, swift(lol), mean look and acrobatics. Eventually we'll get better moves on the guy but I think he'll do for now. I still want to get a swanna before I take on serra. I caught a ducklett but it's IVs were so bad I had to release him lol. >>>> Alright I got a Swanna! Vega is the newest addition to our team although I'm disappointed he doesn't get many good water moves . Rain support is still good I guess but admittedly...well let's just say Seattle isn't getting replaced just yet lol. I think my levels are good enough to take on Serra now, I plan to use Vega, Seattle, Jt, Gotham, Hyperflight, and of course Drifter. My biggest concern is her Aurorus since only Seattle and Hyperflight can deal SE damage against her. Oh and Frosslass too but that goes without saying. Actually, I've decided to replace Vega with Ecclair, as her light screen can come in handy. If i have trouble I'll replace Hyperflight back with Vega. Wish me luck!
  14. I notice some confusion regarding psyshock. Psyshock is considered a special move, thus it works off special attack stat. HOWEVER, it uses the opponents defense stat instead of their special defense stat to determine damage. To use an example, Cryongonal has AMAZING special defense but HORRENDOUS defense. Thus if you were fighting it and had to choose between psychic or psyshock, you would go with the latter since it takes advantage of his weaker stat. In Gengar's case, he's probably going to get KO'd by either since his Base HP stat is a miserable 60 and his special defense only an unimpressive 75, but with a defense stat of 60 psyshock would be good enough coming off a pokemon with solid special attack, which Delphox of course possesses. Another thing regarding screens is that they're working off the opposing attack's type. So yeah while psyshock uses the defense stat instead of the special defense stat, it's still a special type move that uses the user's special attack stat and thus would be weakned by light screen. So again using Cryogonal, if he put up a light screen before you used psyshock, your psyshock would suffer a pretty noticeable damage penalty. Learning how to use and overcome screens is important especially when using offensive psyshic types who typically are kind of frail defensively. Let me tell you, my alakazam had the defense of a granny in a wheelchair but could take at least one punch to the gut with reflect set up. Also remember that criticals ignore defensive stat boost and offensive stat penalties. Thus a screen won't do anything against a frost breath or storm throw.
  15. Hey man it's happened to me before, Charlotte BROKE me first ever playthrough figuratively and literally lol.. But I feel like Delphox would be more useful if she consistently landed hits right away rather than take unnecessary damage. Like I said, as long as your nature is decent and you don't have single digit Ivs/EVs psyshock should murder Gengar.
  16. I have to fully agree with this analysis as someone who had Manectric on their team until replacing them with electabuzz(who TBH isn't all that much better but can at least evolve). The guy hits his prime pretty early and is just sort of disappointing in the long run. Definitely a poverty mon.
  17. Critical hits for number one. You can have a +6 cosmic power set up and get like 5 damage off an enemy dragon rush or something, but then CRITICAL HIT!!! and you're dead. It's BS and it's a matter of luck whether they happen or not. Confuse Ray. Screw this BS move. First of all, 100% acc confusion inflicted is extremely annoying especially since confusion stacks with other status. Second, confuse ray outright ignores the type chart and works on everything, which is BS. I don't get why GF keeps having exceptions like this to the type chart but it's pretty dumb that toxic can't work on steels yet confuse ray can work on normals. Then as a testament to how truly annoying this move is, Golbat who used to plague the games has it and won't hesitate to use it just to make your grinding that much more annoying. Screw Golbat, screw confuse ray, and screw confusion status period.
  18. Her Medicham is DEADLY though, don't even give it the chance to gain momentum because it can and will sweep your entire team given the chance.
  19. I got screwed on my run with the egg, was hoping for vullaby/togepi but I got tentacool Like why is Tenacool even an event pokemon anyway? He's not THAT good.
  20. ^I'm guessing he's lost so much against Shade he's broke(lol) but even that can be remedied by grinding the hall trainers.
  21. It is fun, although I can't say it's mega challenging or anything as flying is one of the better types in Reborn and thus one of the easier monoruns. So far the hardest battle was Archer. And this is without using Sweepbat.
  22. You got the poison, I got the remedy Aya is DOWN and what a battle it was! I decided to sit take Fern's much unneeded advice and sit Hops out of this fight in exchange for newcomer Hyperflight, who while still at a disadvantage was at least able to weaken Aya's special attackers enough with struggle bug. Oh but before that, Yes I did beat Solaris' Garchomp although it took about 3 resets until I could pull off a Destiny bomb(dragon rush/stone edge has gotta miss sometime lol). Drifter has certainly earned his seat as a Kamikaze ace killer with destiny bond and against Aya he was simply the last one standing in what was a pretty big rollercoaster of a gym match. Stealth rocks HURT in Aya's match and Nidoqueen took down two of my pokemon alone. Jt really pulled his weight this battle, taking out Gengar, Drapion, Venusaur, and finishing off a wounded Dralgage. I had Tenacruel paralyzed early and left him around until the end of the match, where Drifter was able to finish him. Match would've ended sooner had Drifter not been confused...must of hit himself like 4 times straight, thankfully he's quite the healthy balloon. Teaming up with Cain, I first took this thread's advice and fought Sirius, but jeez Cain really really sucks against him. Hitmontop was sucker KOing all over the place and then Probopass showed up who I really had no answer for so I took that L and against better instinct went against Sigmund instead. I figure with Cain I would do better against Sigmund than I would fighting him later on alone, and I turned out to be right as I beat him first attempt, although it wasn't easy. Thankfully I had Hops with me and he was able to beat down Lanturn(who was sigmund's last pokemon) pretty easily. Once again Drifter's D-kill came in handy as it got rid of that dreadful rotom and Seattle was able to finish off eelektross with brine. I think the first half of this battle is the most difficult as Sigmund typically sends out his faster pokemon first and they always abuse the field. Current team is Jt(Charizard) lvl 45: shadow claw, strength, flame burst, dragon rage -Jt's my ace, and has been a wrecking ball who often turns the tide of battle. Fast, solid special attack, and not as fragile as I initially thought, I haven't even used solar power yet so it's like he's been holding back this entire time yet STILL manages to kick ass. Ecclair(Emolga) lvl 47: light screen, nuzzle, electro ball, acrobatics -No surprises here, I know she was going to be a beast by virtue of Emolga being a badass alone. Nice speed, nuzzleball and acrobatics for offense, and with a light screen to boot. She can hardly take a hit but more often than not does what she's to supposed to do well. Drifter(Driftloon) lvl 45: Destiny Bond, shadow ball, payback, stockpile -I'm never walking into a gym match again without this guy, as he's my ace killer and crucial for taking out opponents who otherwise would destory me. The fat bod helps soak up otherwise lethal hits and even without D-Bond is decent at softening up opponents. I need some better moves on him though, not sure what however... Seattle(Pelipper)lvl 46: mist, brine, air cutter, tailwind -I think I messed up by removing protect but how can I deny tailwind? Seattle is the most surprising member of my team as I would've expected to be done with him by now, yet here he is. He's great support and being my only water type ATM lets me have some actual options against rockys. Hops(Jumpluff)lvl 43: leech seed, bullet seed, stun spore, acrobatics -Whew! This little guy has proven to be quite the lifesaver(see my Shade story last post) and provides some nice cover for my team. He's pretty much the only reason Sigmund didn't demolish me towards the end. Thing is with Serra coming up I'm afraid he's going to fall behind... Hyperflight(Yanmega)lvl 43: struggle bug, ancient power, detect, double team -Pretty nifty and useful pokemon , even being the newest kid on the block she's already made a good impression. Still, some better moves would be nice as I feel it's the main thing holding her back. Chase(Dodrio) lvl 44:drill peck, acupressure, pursuit, double hit -When I need to hit physical fast and hard, Chase is usually my guy. I don't expect him to stay on too much longer as we make our way into heavy midgame, but I'm sure he'll be awesome against Bennet. Too bad Dodrio doesn't learn brave bird -Retired- Free(Butterfree) lvl 28 - after Corey she started to fall behind, and I don't want another bug/flying type unless it's Megapinsir. You played a good game girl, but your careeer came to an early end Masque(Tranquil)lvl 30 - I feel like Chase fills the niche Masque did but does a better job at it, meaning I have no more use for this guy. Not to say he was bad, just outclassed. I was going to catch zubat but didn't really feel like it last night as I was getting sleepy lol. Maybe later on or something. Noibat will come soon, but only after Serra since he's pretty useless against her I would think.
  23. Lol @ the dialogue. Good luck rocky, you'll need it. As someone doing a flying run, I commend your archen.I'd tell you the sky's the limit, but rocks can't fly, just fall really fast. You gonna have a hard time with Julia though...but that's what you like, isn't it?
  24. ^Can't Darminitan one shot it with hammer arm? And Typhlosion/Volcarona have HP rock, no? I never thought about using Houndoom against her though, nice strat. But I can't help but think it requires a little luck on your part since houndoom is pretty frail.
