Flying/ Fairy type Pokemon
Monochrome_Complex replied to That_Certn_Flygon's question in On the Hunt
Simple Swoobat(aka Sweepbat in this case) by far is the best medicine against Kiki. One clam mind and you can just sweep her team like nothing, I actually beat her without taking any damage on my psychic/ice run using just Swoobat and Gothirita. Just be careful of Toxicroak's sucker punch and Medicham. HOWEVER flying is not bad at all provided you're not using a special flying move. Acrobatics, wing attack, drill peck, pluck and aerial ace don't kick up any sand and coming from a strong enough physical attacker work well against Toxicroak/Gallade/Medicham/Hitmonlee who have less than stellar defenses. On my flying monotype I beat those 4 with Dodrio alone who gets drill peck at level 41. His reasonably solid attack and speed + drill peck tears her team apart. -
I don't understand why Delphox ISN'T taking out Gengar instantly. Mine did and it was level 39, psyshock capitalizes both on Gengar's somewhat average defense and his weakness to psychic which combined with delphox's high special attack should really be taking him out instantly. And don't use Delphox against Banette, save him for doublade and trevenant instead. I keep saying players on here udnerestimate Shade's Banette and it's probably his 2nd or 3rd strongest pokemon. Again, Pangoro learns crunch at 42, so he probably doesn't have it yet and if he does he won't listen. You mentioned Emolga? Dude, train that little guy up as he's one of the best pikaclones there is.

Reflect/light screen don't just increase defense for the pokemon using it, but the entire team as well. So even if Meowstic gets Ko'd or you switch to another mon, you still have the screen up helping. you. With light clay the screen lasts 8 turns which is enough to dramatically alter the tide of battle and give your otherwise frail hard hitters(i.e Alakazam) extra staying power to deliver more hurts. Also some fields give stat bonuses on certain boosting moves which makes you(or the opponent) much more deadly. On the ashn beach or Chess Field field calm mind's boost is doubled which increases your special attack AND defense up greatly. Also some fields add secondary types to attack, which most of the time isn't usually in your favorite so be careful with those.

Seriously, if you want to type run rock, make it a dual run. A mono just isn't very feasible in Reborn.

When can you get Onix though? As far as I know it's not until 4th badge.

I hate 4Chan/Reddit. How about you?
Monochrome_Complex replied to Monochrome_Complex's topic in General Discussion
On the subject of the shooter dude today, there's sources coming out just now saying he didn't post on 4Chan or whatever, it was some other guy who posted an announcement of wanting to do a killing or something with others actually egging him on. Like that's the thing I'm talking about, just people doing nonsense like that. Although my point about the toxic hate these sites enforce still stands. It's not just that well ONLY some parts of these sites are bad while the rest are fun(I do find some of 4Chan's humor amusing actually and I know not every subreddit is crap) but that there is not enough being done about the bad parts like you mentioned which is having some pretty nasty effects on social media and by extension society in general overall. I just feel like these sites are not taking enough responsibility for the content and environment that gets created on there and that it's just not a good thing that should be ignored. Ignoring doesn't make it go away, if anything it has only made the problem more prevalent and worse. Social media is such a double edged sword, on one hand it connects so many like never before but also enforces the worst kind of behavior and left unchecked can divide us in ways we've yet to experienced. I believe great responsibility and care needs to go into social media avenues and that frankly not enough is being done at this point. -
Like jeez, these sites are just...ugh I feel like whatever aim they originally had has lost any value in comparison to the amount of vileness, misanthropy, bigotry and overall scumminess that's regularly encouraged in these places. 4Chan is a bit more minor these days but Reddit my god, what a freakin disgrace to humanity. The reddit heads say they frown on all the REPULSIVE BS that gets put there(but a forum dedicated to hating black people is apparently A-OKAY!), but because of hur dur FREEDOMZ don't want to take any responsibility for it and frankly are satisfied with letting it fester and grow. Thing is it doesn't get contained like they claim, it just leaks out elsewhere and contaminates the entire site if not elsewhere. Even on this site you look back on threads to the time where 4Chan was worse/more popular and you can see some of that same ugliness to the point there was even a thread complaining about it and how it made them want to leave the community. The idea of completely unmoderated speech sounds nice on paper, but practice shows us repeatedly that it gets to a point where it does more harm than good and not only allows vile behavior without consequence, but actively encourages it providing a catalyst for it to spread. I know not everybody is going to be nice on the internet, but that shouldn't make it okay to be a degenerate socially inept asshole either. Supposedly the mass shooting today in oregon was a 4Chansman, stereotypical 20 year old toxic psuedo-masculine male POS that infests social media scum pits like this. How unsurprising that these types of guys keep end up being the usual suspects in these shootings when their horrible beliefs and behavior are routinely supported and encouraged on sites like these. Thing is they and many youth like them are growing up in their teens being accustomed to the idea that sort of thinking, while even if not "normal" is in its own way acceptable and something not actively worth improving upon since there's so many others like you who feel the same way with them even giving you a thumbs up or whatnot for it. It's like an alcoholics anonymous who admit they have a problem, but instead of trying to help one another through they just drink even more becoming even worse. While ultimately the blame falls to the guy being a absolute scumbag and awful human being(no guys, mental illness isn't a reason for you killing people although I do agree mental illness care in this country needs improvement) I still feel like Reddit/4Chan and even Twitter/Facebook even don't do enough to fight this kind of behavior. They need to realize that they're providing a toxic environment for it to be reinforced and as we keep seeing on a more regular basis with dire effects.. Of course it's foolish to say 4CHAN MADE HIM DO IT because no that's not what I'm saying and frankly there's so many more factors that go into this way of thinking and action . I'm just saying that these sites are becoming increasingly detrimental to society as they continually create environments for and empower vile behavior/beliefs which none of these sites seem interested in taking responsibility for. Sure you can't decide what people can or cannot say, but you definitely can do something in how it's responded to. Also, i know there's more to Reddit and 4Chan than redpill and crap like that, but the fact those parts of Reddit are allowed to fester so freely just sort of tarnishes the entire site for me, and really many others. It'd be like going to a school that has its own neo nazi club on campus which they fund. Like would you really be okay with that? I wouldn't.

Yeah don't know how you're going to pull this off The first rock type you can catch is bonsly and he's not available until post Julia >_>

Light screen and reflect can go a long way to helping your team survive, especially when you have the light clay being held. Also friend, make sure you learn those field effects! Unlike the main pokemon games Reborn's field system drastically affects the effectiveness of moves and pokemon and it's a good idea to have at least one pokemon with a field-altering move(misty terrain, mist, electric terrain, grassy terrain, blizzard etc) so that you aren't constantly at a disadvantage against an opponent who abuses their field(example being Charlotte) For example shadow ball has 80 BP. In a short circuit field, it's power is boosted by x1.3 meaning that it's BP goes up to 104.Applying STAB which brings the original BP up to 120(so with the field bonus it becomes 156 BP), you're now essentially getting hit by a ghost type hyper beam without recharge every turn. Obviously this is no bueno for your team and can cause serious hurts. However, using your Mewostic's Misty terrain move, the terrain becomes a misty field, which reduces the power of shadow ball by half(0.5x). So instead of 80BP it's nerfed down to 40BP, or if a ghost type is using it would be as if the ghost type lost its STAB completely(so 80 BP), meaning even with a weakness to ghost a pokemon should be able to tank the hit. Another thing about fields is that unlike stat boosts/screens, critical hits are affected by them as well. I.E a critical shadow ball in a misty field will still suffer the damage penalty while one in the short circuit field will still get the damage boost.
-
Yeah you're just severely underleveled. Delphox is very good for this battle despite his weakness to ghost and a level 40-39 one should be able to take half his team alone.I have no idea why delphox's level is even so high lol. And scratch? Dude wtf were you thinking, never keep tackle/scratch/pound etc. Your starter starts off with those moves for a reason, they're not worth using post evolution and frankly suck post early game. I honestly wouldn't bother with hazards since two field boosted shadow balls or an energy ball is going to KO onix anyway and only Chandelure is really going to hurt from it. Chandelure has a sitrus berry and solid defense so watch out for it as well, Houndoom should be good against him since his only option against him that isn't resisted is hidden power electric which can possibly two shot houndoom with the field boost. That said I wouldn't completely count out Minun as discharge can remove the shadow ball boost and while Chandelure's hidden power electric can still get a boost, it won't be as powerful as a BZZZZZAP! boost off the original field which WILL happen given time, don't risk that. Just note that everytime you use discharge the field switches so don't get too greedy with spamming it unless your timing is good. If you get your team levelled you shouldn't even need to change them(though I would personally after the match), but actually Piloswine with thick fat can set up a mist which will not only weaken shadow ball, but also power up mystical fire to where it could possibly two shot rotom(then again my Delphox had a lot of special attk EVS so it might not be as powerful for you). This gym's terrain is partly what makes this battle(and most leaders TBH) challenging and if you can change or take advantage of that you'll find yourself having an easier and more enjoyable time. Your first priority is getting Deplhox back to earth though. If you need cash just rebattle the grand hall dudes. ^On whiscash, rest is currently kind of broke in that you end up sleeping an extra turn, which is bad considering how there's always a chance a field boosted critical shadow ball can happen(it happens at least once everytime I fight shade) which will ignore amnesia's stat boost and possibly KO him. I'd bring some awakenings so you can shorten rest's downtime. Chandlure's energy ball will still hurt like hell and he'll possibly survive an aqua tail which again can be problematic. That said Whiscash cans till do some good provided you aren't unlucky and I suppose stealth rock can help Whish with chandelure. Another thing is that Pangoro learns crunch at 42, which if you can manage, will make him a LOT more effective this battle. Just an option to consider.

Okay that should DEFINITELY be specified in the OP post. Thanks. -
Mega audino is perfect for the whole holy theme though.

Pokémon Location Guide v3 (Episode 16)
Monochrome_Complex replied to Lostelle's question in On the Hunt
What about Murkrow? Like I see murkrow perched, it's night, aqua hideout, I have 4 pokesnax but how do I actually get him? -
Aurorus, Kricketune, Whimsicott, Glaceon, Lumineon, Klinklang(sounds bizarre yet cool and fitting), Milotic, Krookodile(sounds like a guitar rift), Floatzel(sounds like a record mixing) and Lopunny. Probopass definitely has the strangest sounding. Figures why it was used for the misdreavus sidequest.

Stock up on those full restores and max revives boys and girls Not to mention they have megas too...and stronger megas.

^I've used him on my last run and once before that and yeah he's amazing up till after Kiki where his fragility really starts to hamper him. I added drifloon(named Drifter) to my team and Seattle has evolved into Pelipper. I actually thought Pelipper's special defense was higher than his defense but apparently not. Oops Taka wasn't too bad except for Chatot and massively annoying chatter but with some strategy and priority from Masque I was able to handle him pretty well. I did reset once though midway first attempt since I goofed up and was confuse hitting myself all over the place and kept forgetting lileep had storm drain. Let's see from the mystery egg I have a chance at either Togepi or Vullaby. Either would be amazing, hopefully I get lucky and get one or the other. >>>> UPDATE: Added two new members to the team, Ecclair the Emolga and Chase the doduo. It took several resets to get the nature right for Ecclair and I went through at least 3 doduos before finding Chase who has a def -/speed+ nature along with 31 IVs in attack which is awesome. Both are up to level and Ecclair has acrobatics, so I'm expecting Corey to go down pretty easily especially since he has the gas field. Then again I said on my last playthrough with a team full of psychics and his crobat swept it singlehandedly lol. The team I plan to use on him is: Ecclair(Emolga) lvl 30 Jt(Charmeleon)lvl 29 Seattle(Pelipper)lvl 29 Chase(doduo)lvl 27 Drifter(drifloon)lvl 27 Free(butterfree)lvl 27 >>> Success! First attempt Corey goes down! Free was MVP as she took out 4 of his team out alone with the sleep powder/psybeam combo. Skuntank was still a problem though and was meaty enough to tank two dragon rages, although I got massively unlucky as Jt's fire fang "missed" after the first one which meant that Drfiter would need to finish him off with destiny bond to ensure none of my other team would have to face him. Crobat didn't do much since nuzzleball shuts him down really quick. Overall the battle went pretty well. So far this flying team has had an easier time with gyms than any other team I've used. Flying is always sort of an early game monster type though, it's usually later on where it kind of falters and its weaknesses show up more. Also, all hail Emolga. The little guy is incredible. >>>> UPDATE: The site was down earlier, no? I got my cocoon badge and made some HUGE progress as I just rescued Heather. Shelly has never been easier, although I reset once since my first attempt I didn't plan right. She's usually one of the hardest gym leaders for me so I'm glad I had so much success this match.I got Drifter, Hops, Jt, and Chase fully evolved now. I think I'm going to retire Masque as Chase is better suited as a flying/normal attacker with stats better tailored to it. Idk how much longer Free will be around as she's still useful but is starting to fall behind. Sleep powder is great and all but she's too slow to make full use of it. Total badges: 3(4 leaders defeated) Jt(Charizard) - level 38 Hops(Jumpluff) - level 33 Seattle(Pelipper) - level 32 Drifter(Driftloon) - level 34 Ecclair(Emolga) - level 35 Chase(Dodrio) - level 35 >>>>> FREAKIN ARCHER Ugh this dude right here...12 freakin attempts to beat him, his sharpedo was ripping my team apart, one-shotting like everybody. I held off and grinded a bit but even with levels 34-39 he was still a monster. Eventually I got lucky to where he didn't use ice fang against Hops, who was able to paralyze him and allow Ecclair + Jt to finish him off. Hardest fight by far so far. Then I fought Shade 0_0 Not that he was as bad as Archer, seeing as I beat him first battle, but it was one of the most intense matches I've had in Reborn ever. I barely won. I used the same team as Shelly. >I send out Ecclair against "Corey" nuzzleball defeats him although he takes her down to yellow with shadow claw >Banette(who seriously is one of his hardest mons now, I disagree that it needs to be replaced) comes out next and gets nuzzled, but manages to KO Ecclair. >Hops is up to bat now. I use leech seed on banette, who wounds Hops pretty bad into yellow. I think at this point i switched to Seattle to set up a mist and then alternate between brine and protect. Seattle falls but Jt is able to finish banette with flame burst. >Rotom shows up pretty early, guess Shade is getting serious now. UGH rotom. Misty field is still up which is perfect because I'm not dealing with rotom's bull tonight. I send out Drifter who gets brought down to yellow off a critical shadow ball(like wtf he ALWAYS crits off that somehow) and use destiny bond, which quickly removes rotom out of play next turn when mist wears off. Good because he was going to tear my guys up otherwise. >At this point I have to guess who he sends out next, but Jt is my best bet so I pick him. I always forget Shade has doublade which is probably due to doublade being his weakest member of his team. If anyone should be replaced it's him I think. He gets burnt to a crisp by Jt >Trevenant is next, and I use Chase since I want Jt at full for Chandelure. Two plucks make easy work of Trevenant(who tried leech seed but it didn't do much). >Last but not least is Chandelure and definitely the one that gave me the most trouble. I only have Hops(who is half dead), Jt and Chase left. I send out Hops who uses leech seed then gets KO'd immediately, which is fine. I then send out Jt who pulls off two dragon rages before getting KO'd, bringing Chandelure down to red who unfortunately heals with his berry. Last up is Chase who uses pursuit that doesn't quite KO, leaving Chandelure with barely any health left while Chandelure uses flame burst(thankfully it wasn't hidden power because that would've been it) that takes Chase down to 5 Hp. Of course, chekhov's gun comes into play and Chandelure falls to seed damage, narrowly getting me the win. So far this playthrough is a blast, thanks for the tips and info guys >>>> UPDATE: Beat Kiki, though I must admit she pulled off a rare moment of AI brilliance this battle. See I opened with Seattle to set up mist so she wouldn't get a field boost but as my Pelipper went to perform a second brine on machamp(it was raining BTW) she switched him out to Toxicroak to absorb the attack. That was pretty nice. Too bad the rest of her team fell to Chase and her Lucarioto Ecclair via nuzzle + acrobatics. Also to replace Free I caught and bred(after like 8 eggs) a Yanmega(currently level 40) who is now a member of my team. With EV training she's currently the strongest special attacker I have alongside Jt. I'm about to do Azurine Island now.
-
Yeah he just got bullet seed and I'm already feeling the improvement. Though I messed up on sleep powder I got revenge on the couple and slaughtered the PULSEGrowth with dragon rage. Also got Masque to evolve into Tranquil, so now i'm soaring over to the trainers school. Wish me luck, although I doubt it'll be too hard since Flobot's only real threat is cradily. Actually, does misty field nerf dragon rage at all? I'd imagine it would. UPDATE: well Fern was a pushover as expected, but he doesn't really start getting challenging until the Grand Hall match anyway so w/e. I'm a bit disappointed Seattle hasn't evolved yet but it should be coming soon. With 4 flying types and 1 fire I really shouldn't be losing to the Flobot but there's always the chance cradily smacks my team down silly and I lose horribly to crits or something. >>> Well the Flobot is out of commission! She was about as easy as I thought she would be, although Cradily wasn't so much the problem as Cacnea who managed to KO Free...somehow. Pin missile hits kind of hard on her field I guess? For Cradily i had Hops whittle him down with bullet seed to about little over half health then had Jt finish him with two dragon rages. Really smack down wasn't even strong enough to one shot either of them so there was little danger this fight. Right now the current team is Jt(Charmeleon) lvl 24 Hops(Skiploom) lvl 22 Seattle)Wingull) lvl 23 Masque(Tranquil) lvl 23 Free(Butterfree) lvl 23 Seattle needs to get his butt in gear and evolve already Everybody else in high school and this dude is still learning times tables lol
-
Totally forgot about Mothim, but who doesn't? He's one of the most forgettable pokemon EVER. Okay so I got through the ghetto without much trouble and even got to evolve Hops to skiploom! He's still pretty weak so far but if the advice above is true he'll turn out decent enough later on. Masque is up to level and has been doing alright so far, roost at like level 17 is awesome. Alas, I made the mistake of challenging the "Daycare Couple" and sadly lost due to aron walling my team .To be fair a critical rock tomb is what ruined me(seriously crits in pokemon are like one of the worst mechanics EVER) but it sucks I lost to what are essentially a duo of goons.
-
So today was a nice, windy day which created some opportunities for more flying types Got 3 new additions to the teams and Free is at level 19 now. Seattle(Wingull) lvl 17 Jolly nature Rain Dish -Mist -Wing Attack -Supersonic -water Pulse Notes: Finally got that wingull, jolly nature is meh but I get annoyed restarting too many times and have to go to work soon anyway.Mist however is what gets my eye as it's a great move for removing most enemy terrain advnatges for a bit as I learned from my psychic/ice run, Plus he's pretty fast and water pulse is a great early game move. I'm not seeing this guy lasting till the end, but for early game he seems like he'd be useful. Hops(Hoppip) lvl 16 Jolly nature Infiltrator -stun spore -fairy wind -aromatherapy -tackle Notes:I'm not a big fan of hoppip's line TBH although I don't dislike it either. I just want to see how it'll fare, although I know that nature is going to hold it back later on. Masque(Pidove) lvl 12 Quiet Nature Rivalry -Gust -Growl -Leer -Quick attack Definitely replacing this guy later on, although I think he has some slight potential for the time being. We'll see as i've yet to use him. I'm going to try to make it to Beryl ward today so I can get drifloon.
-
Ah no wonder, I never went there in the morning. Calm mind swoobat turns Kiki into a cakewalk for sure but I'm not using it this time since I used it last playthrough and another playthrough before. I'll give it a break, although Noivern I'm definitely getting later on.
-
Ah well, so much for that.
-
Alright so Free has fully evolved and Jt evolved into Charmeleon during the Fern team up against Meteor. Okay, first of all, Charmeleon is COMPLETELY BROKEN at least up till the first gym badge. Dragon rage just obliterates everything in 1-2 shots. I tried using Free against Julia but she got demolished by a super charged self- destruct via Voltorb. I didn't even need her apparently since Jt managed to take out 4 of her pokemon in one shot. Electrode got taken out in two and it tried to use rollout which didn't do much at all. Never before have I had such an easy time with Julia as she usually takes me 2-3 attempts. Currently I'm at Jt(Charmeleon) level 20 Solar Power -ember -smokescreen -Dragon rage -scratch I'm running him special for sure since timid lowers his attack and it's already showing with that miserable scratch of his. Free(Butterfree) Level 17 Compound Eyes(yes!) -sleep powder -poisonpowder -gust -confusion I kind of wanted to get the wingull tripping out in the complex, but because of the FREAKIN RAIN pokesnax dude isn't showing up and I can't get its attention. I'm thinking about picking up Pidove in the slums too as he was pretty solid in Rejuvenation, though he's not going to be permanent. ^Actually where do you get Yanma? I never saw him in any of my playthroughs, though TBH shelly kind of made me not want to use him lol.
-
Starting a flying monotype run, and awesomely enough, my first attempt charmander had a 31 in special attack with a timid nature and solar power, I figured yeah that's going to rock. I try to name it Jet but Reborn's naming is laggy and it just ends up Jt. I guess that sounds good enough. .Cain's Nidoran nearly defeats me with me having only 1 HP left and him missing a tackle to nidoran's ability. Like jeez the luck. Thankfully Pignite didn't give too much trouble. I white out on a cassanova, the one with the level 8 purrloin by the center. It just had to be raining lol plus I only had 10 HP left. I catch a caterpie with shield dust, but it has good IVs and nature so I'm keeping it. level 6, named Free. But man screw the rain SERIOUSLY, I ended up whiting out again against the doxy with a ducklett, totally sucked. I know Noibat is available but LOL screw that noise. I used woobat last playthrough so I'll skip him this time.
-
Wait you can get DarMANLYtan in the game? Since when? I'm surprised considering the guy hits like a rocket powered tank. I'm actually about the start a flying monorun with Charmander. Just finished psychic/ice dual run, Ciel is like 10x easier with ice lol. Also dude, don't forget about Rotom! He technically can act as a fire type so I'd consider him legit.
