So general consensus is that the entire game is great, but which episode do you sort of like a little less than the others? Personally for me it's the one where Luna gets kidnapped and you have to fight her at the end(either 10 or 11 I think). While 7th Street is hilarious the whole stealth segment remains my most hated moment of the game and Iolia Valley is probably one of my most disliked areas due to the rather annoying crystal mechanics and generally being overly tedious. Then it finishes off with one of the easier gym leaders in the game whose fight is somewhat lackluster compared to some of the ones before. Plus dark cave is a bit of a boring field.

Huh that vs portrait looks really good, although his walking sprite is a bit chunky looking and clashes a bit with the rest of the game lol. Good luck! Keep us updated on how it goes too.

For a fan game idea I had there was actually a mechanic for this, where high ranking league members would use CMs or Custom machines which would basically be customized moves. Eventually the player would be able to make a CM of their own, of course that system would need some limits to prevent the player from going absolutely haywire lol Here were a few of them: Crawl Rush type: bug, physical, contact BP: 45 PP: 15 acc: 100 The user quickly crawls up to the opponent and strikes with sharp appendages. This move always strikes first. Gamble type: dark, ????, ???? BP:??? PP: 10 acc: 100 The user selects a random dark type moves and uses it. It can be any dark type move, from quash to oblivion wing. Basically metronome for dark types. Plague type: poison, status, BP: ---- PP: 5 acc: 100 The user covers themselves in a germy shroud. If they make contact with an opponent, the opponent becomes "infected" and will lose health every turn, being equivalent to the amount loss via curse. if the infected opponent makes contact with another pokemon, then the virus will spread and they will become infected as well. Poison + steel types and those with the ability immunity are not affected by the virus nor can they spread it. It's basically mummy and curse wrapped in one. Berserk type: dragon, status BP:---- PP: 5 acc:100 The user unleashes their primal fury, drastically lowering defense and special defense while maximizing attack for 2-3 turns. After the move ends their stats return to normal.

Thing about competitive play is that it doesn't always reflect single player. A lot of pokemon are designed primarily with single player in mind and competitive play second which is why early game mons with low BST even exist. A lot of players kind of forget this. Like Ampharos has always been beast for single player ever since gen 2. Medicham never disappoints me no matter what game it is though. PP HJK hits so wonderfully hard and while I was cheated out of drain punch this run, that move also turns him into quite a force to be reckoned with. Lopunny getting a mega made me really happy since I always liked her, just thought she needed one more boost or evo to pull her out of early-mon status.I can't complain since her megas not only has a nice typing, but manages to actually have a decent design.

you GREATEST thing that happen to you in pokemon reborn
Monochrome_Complex replied to cappter's topic in Reborn City
^The thing is that you can nouibat later on where he's in his mid-late 30s which is a lot easier to manage than raising him from level 7. Like even if you like Noibat there's no reason a much better pokemon for that stage of the game could fill his slot(unless you're doing a dragon only run in which you don't have much of a choice).- 73 replies

you GREATEST thing that happen to you in pokemon reborn
Monochrome_Complex replied to cappter's topic in Reborn City
^tsk tsk tsk it's become common knowledge on this board to never use Noibat early game as he's absolute garbage and a waste of time. I had two awesome ones today. First was beating Arceus on the first attempt with just 3 pokemon. First I had delphox set up light screen after taking a shadow ball that brought him down to 3 HP, then I had Gothitelle use mirror coat off Judgement which broughthim down to yellow, and after she died had Medicham take a judgement and finish it with HJK for the win. I never beat Arceus so quickly before. No gimmicks either, so it felt extra good. 2nd was against Radomus on my 2nd attempt after the first went south really early on lol. i had my Gardevoir come in on a wounded Malamar and trace his contrary, then eventually knocked it out which caused Radomus to send out G. Gardevoir who traced my traced contrary. He then uses calm mind which absolutely cripples the poor thing turning her into a nonfactor for the rest of the match. This completely turned things in my favor and eventually led to a win. Gardeception FTW. Also his new Gallade ain't jack. Like we already dealt with Gallade in Kiki's match so this one isn't much harder- 73 replies

Let the RNG guide my actions: a Random Pokémon Generator run.

Dude don't sleep on sigiglyph. That thing kicks players' asses a lot for a reason, he's legitimately pretty solid. I notice you were ragging on Xatu earlier too, which is weird since he's not all that bad. I wonder if Blaziken really does live up to the hype though. I haven't used him in a game ever since Emerald where he was pretty disappointing. Bulk up and speed boost are good but not as much if he can't take a hit. -
Looks kind of androgynous a bit, but that's perfect, since a lot of people mistake her brother for being a girl anyway! Woohooo Shelly, good job!
-
Dude she needed a nerf though, she was ridiculous in ep 14. The thing was that she'd beat you SO quickly you wouldn't even be able to learn from the battle and it usually required having specific pokemon to even stand a chance or a lot of revives/potions. She's not exactly a pushover even with the nerf) so eh.Really the only nerf that went too far is Shade.

I did it with grotle without using items so it's not impossible. -
I think reviving Corey will take a lot of impact away from his death. Cheap revivals for the purpose of pleasing the player is never a good idea IMO. Corey should stay dead, maybe Shade can let us talk to his spirit(aka Gengar) or something but him being not really dead or brought back to life would be really disappointing.

Diggersby could easily die before it does anything against Typh and Darma, but it's a great choice against The firefoxes. Ah but watch for will o wisp. 7th street cyndaquil, get it a good nature and make sure it has flash fire. In fact anything with flash fire will help this gym. Evolve it to Typhlosion and use a heart scale to get it eruption. Rapidash and Arcanine can have FF too I think..Rapidash can learn drill run via tutor which is pretty cool I think, especially if you can ground Rotom(Greninja with smack down is good for this if you have him) as it should one-shot him provided you got a good nature, Also flash fire is good for Rapidash' s flare blitz which will be more effective against delphox/Ninetales than eruption/flamethrower will. Flash fire will turn Typhlosion into a MONSTER with Eruption + the field effects allowing you to use Charlotte's own strength against her. With good nature and EVs He should 1-2 shot half her team with eruption at full health provided none of them are using a screen.Even his flamethrower hits pretty hard so that should work as a second offensive if need be Like she says, embrace the flames. Fight fire with fire. Darminitan needs to be taken out ASAP though because that dude is like the freakin hulk in how hard he can hit. If you don't like fire try out Fat Walrein, I hear he's great for this fight too. Archeops DOES make this rather easy huh? He's might be the best pick but I think she's got a scarfed Typhlosion or darma or be careful with that. All of her pokemon save Darmanitan use special moves so setting up a light screen is good especially when paired with changing her field. Beware that her Delphox uses light screen too. Really physical > special in this battle, which she counters using will o wisp but that doesn't work on all pokemon now, does it? :] And yeah I recommend earthquake and a strong rock physical move since delphox and Ninetales have softer defense but good special defense to where they can actually survive most special moves. You definitely want a good multi hitting physical mov somewhere, and don't be afraid to buy air balloons if need be lol. If anything taking out Darminitan and Typhlosion both at once will make the battle twice as easy. If any of your pokemon know electric terrain, that's good if only because it removes her field boosts. Her field boosts are the key to Charlotte's strength so if you have any tools to circumvent it RELIABLY, use them.

I hear piplup is the worst but water types are kind of at a disadvantage yeah. Froakie is good though I think one thing to note is how well they function in Reborn's field system. Pokemon that can use fields to their benefit are often good picks and while water might be helpful in later episodes so far we haven't had enough water-beneficial fields for them to really big big picks, in fact if anything we quite a few that work against them which only makes using a water starter that much harder. Fire types with eruption/flame burst/overheat/lava plume can take advantage of fields really well and make several major battles much easier because of it. This is a big reason Typhlosion is so good in Reborn. I actually argue that Torterra doesn't quite benefit as much from fields which sort of works against him a lot, plus he has that awful ice double weakness. He's still really good but he hits a couple of walls and I wouldn't put him on Typhlosion or Greninja's level. Infernape is good but Iron fist is a bit meh and he's pretty frail. Also he can't use the fields as well as charizard/Typhlosion can. He's still my favorite fire starter but Typhlosion is definitely the better pick overall.I feel. Delphox has been really awesome for me so far being my first time using him. Light screen + nice speed and special attack make him great at supporting the team and magician can be pretty nifty. Venusaur is pretty bulky and can take some serious punishment. Torterra is definitely better offensively because of curse but old Venus is no pushover.

Monferno straight up wouldn't evolve until AFTER I beat her despite being well within level. He had close combat but it couldn't one-shot Slaking or Porygon Z which left it ripe for instant KOs.

New Zygarde and Greninja forms!
Monochrome_Complex replied to ScuzBrains's topic in Pokémon Fan Club
I like alomola? It's not so bad in doubles and is pretty I think. Though yeah it should've evovled from Luvdisc, but then again Butterfree should evolve from Venonat and Venomoth from metapod, Until that is rectified we don't get to complain.- 118 replies

Delphox is actually not crap. and might be one of the best starters in reborn.

^^Albert Fish is a good basis for flat out disturbingly evil and General Butt Naked(yes that's his actual moniker lol) for the wtf factor while being kind of funny. Fish's wikipedia page alone is nightmare fuel and GBN has a pretty entertaining mini doc on Youtube somewhere. Hitler is so overplayed and there's a lot of crazies out there who would make basis for more interesting characters. You should have some diversity in the designs of the 5 dudes, like don;t just make them all young dudes with anime colored hair lol. It's such a common issue with fangames where like every gym leader is a young person with hair that matches their type. Like that's not a bad thing in itself, just that it's an issue when every other gym leader is seriously that. Not even the actual games do this(in fact every pokemon game makes sure to include a range of ages/occupations for their leaders) so I don't understand why so many fangames do other than being out of self-indulgence or lacking character design skills.

WHOA that Cain is wonderful. Really bishie but in a totally good way, I love it.

who was the ''not planned guest'' in your team
Monochrome_Complex replied to Might Gai's topic in Rejuvenation
Unfezant. Dude actually hits pretty hard and was helpful for much of my game. Also deerling against Venam, she took out 5 pokemon alone thanks to camouflage and leech seed. Of course I knew Sawsbuck would kick butt since I used him several times in gen 5.. -
I've gotten really bad with this lately lol. For event pokemon it's always due to nature/IVs.ability if I can't get a capsule. For battles, only if I have to walk a long way back or have my levels really close to the cap. Well and the occasional BS like losing to crits or flinch hax. Also big bosses like Groudon I usually reset on because again, long walks. Losing money is no big deal since "failruns" are good for experience anyway.
-
I think the perfect hypnosis is the biggest threat in this fight aside from Mismagius. I would sweep her team until Spiritomb would use hypnosis and just dream eater everyone to death. Had to reset like twice because of it lol.

Valerie: please Jan nerf this manatee or at least let us teleport via Nim like before. She felt like the most broken fight in the game. Venam and Saki: the higher levels are bad enough, then you have Meia's idiotic AI, and on top of that MEGA mawile, but each girl carries like 2-3 ultra potions which is absolutely bonkers. If anything the healing spam is what makes this fight a LOT harder than it has any right to be. I think if that was removed the fight would be a lot more fair while still remaining challenging. Marianette took me more tries than any other gym leader, even Valerie, and I had Monferno too. Holy field boost, Porygon 2 just being a monster, Slaking one-shotting like everything that doesn't resist/have an evasive move of some sort, just a total PITA this battle. Gera and Zetta took me I think 3 or 4 tries but the ones above took at least 5, with Marianette taking like 9 attempts and V&S taking around 6 or 7.

Psychic/ice dual run, managed to beat Shade on the first attempt with no items used. Just happened like not even 5 minutes ago. Like OMG, Delphox is BOSS for this fight. You wouldn't think so because of her weakness to ghost but she managed to take out half of shade's team alone. Opened against "Corey" with Delphox, one psyshock just annihilates him. Next up is Banette, who TBH ended up the biggest threat this fight ironically. I switched to Piloswine who uses mist to weaken Banette's offense. He uses shadow claw, it takes piloswine down to yellow. I switch out to Beartic since I want to save another mist for later. Beartic eats a shadow claw, takes out about less than a third. Next turn he gets shadow clawed AGAIN, but I have beartic use charm which TBH was pretty stupid in hindsight since shadow claw has a high critical ratio anyway but it actually worked in my favor. Banette uses shadow claw(or maybe knock off, I can't remember) which brings me to red, beartic uses icicle crash which brings Banette down to yellow. Banette uses shadow sneak this time for lord knows what reason, Beartic SURVIVES with like 5 HP and knocks him out with a second icicle crash. Mist is gone by now. I think Doublade was chosen next, but Delphox roasted him instantly. Straight up free. So then Rotom comes up(ugh) and I decide to use a little trick. I send out Musharna who manages to barely survive a critical(screw crits, seriously) field boosted shadow ball and uses yawn on Rotom. Of course she bites it next turn but that's all according to plan. Actually this part I'm having trouble remembering completely, but I recall using Piloswine to set up mist while Rotom slept then switching to Delphox once he woke up and KO'd piloswine to set up a screen. With mist still up I sued mystic flare to weaken rotom some more and totally forgot it gets boosted by mist field, which is really awesome actually. Of course ultra potions happened but somewhere along the way I switched to swoobat, had him set up a clam mind and finished off rotom although he took a discharge in the process, which actually helped me in the long run. Trevenant came out and got blown away by Swoobat, another freebbie. I still think Shade should've kept Gourgeist. With Chandelure I had swoobat weaken it, get KO'd and then had Delphox finish it off. I think another ultra potion was used but since psyshock 2-shots Chandelure it didn't make a difference. It was probably the best gym match I've had this playthrough so far. Went waaaaaaay better than shelly's lol. Psychic is beast in this game and a lot of fun to use. Also beating Charlotte for the first time during my first playthrough in episode 14. Then beating her first attempt next playthrough. Ep 15 Charlotte isn't as bad anymore thank god.- 73 replies
