Well contrary ain't doing jack for me against Julia ATM and would've been better off with overgrow so I could actually set up against her team. I'm not just looking at late game, but overall. And there's definitely instances where contrary is a hindrance more than a help. So hmmm I don't know if it's better to have contrary from the get-go or switch it via ability capsule later on.

Only thing I don't like about contrary snivy is that it can't use coil, which was one of serperior's best moves .But leftovers aren't in this game so I'm not sure you could use that fully anyway. Leaf blade /leech seed/coil Serperior wrecked late game in the Unova games. like everybody's all LEAF STOROOOOOOOM but it comes super late in the game and leaf storm misses a lot. I'd have to use basic Serperior to see if it's as good.in Reborn.

Pokémon Location Guide v3 (Episode 16)
Monochrome_Complex replied to Lostelle's question in On the Hunt
So does chrubi not appear on rainy days or something? I just find wurmple and caterpie in the Peridot garden, and it's not night yet. -
Ohhh Eh if the whole helix thing is just a meme I'm totally okay with removing it.
-
Nidoking rocks, can't go wrong with DA KING. He never gets bad and remains useful throughout the entire game.
-
What's TTP? Being able to chill with gym members in the penthouse would be awesome.

Like he can still win it with some time, money and new mons but yeah his team is mess lol. The level 50 Charizard is something I'd expect from a 9 year old playing. er.. sorry, I guess that sounded kind of mean, didn't mean it like that though. @Dragon below: edited, thanks.

Individual notes and rankings In terms of gym difficulty, from easiest to hardest it went: Julia > Kiki > Ciel > Samson >> Florinia > Corey > Shelly > Radomus > Luna >> Aya > Shade > Terra > Charlotte > Serra. Cal and Blake, while not leaders anymore, I still sort of count. Cal is between Corey and Shelly, Blake is between Ciel and Samson. Final Aster, Archer, Serra, Charlotte and Terra were the hardest. And that's it! Thanks for following and the advice!

That's how you do it, GGs. I totally forgot about Abomasnow, perfect choice with trick room. also what's with the TeamPlayer I see so much in nicknames? I don't get it? ^Why is Charizard level 50? Magcargo is excellent for this fight, and Raticate isn't half bad either as it has sucker punch. Mightyena is a good temporary replacement and those three should replace Goth and lunatone. If you can get Charizard down to level 39/40 it should start listening to you again as to actually be useful. If Phanpy has sturdy, evolve it, level it to 43 so it gets earthquake then level it back down and use it on Chandelure to beat him easily. If it doesn't have sturdy, than gets one that does. Also male espurr with Prankster ability can set up misty terrain which removes discharge's buff and weakens shadow ball quite a bit, even if he's weak to ghost. Set up a light screen while holding light clay to keep shade from one-shotting most of your pokemon. You can catch him in Lapis ward alleyways believe.Just note that offensively he's not very good so you want him to set up and switch to someone who can actually lay some hurts. Charizard should be able to handle trevenant and Doublade no problem. Keep him away from Rotom and Gengar unless you know for sure he can finish them off. Watch out for Banette's destiny bond too, if he uses it don't KO him until AFTER his next move(that hopefully isn't destiny bond.

I think that the Gen 1 Elite 4 aren't just basing their team off types, but themes as well. Agatha's theme was death, hence her using ghost and poison types, the types most closely associated with death. Also her being the eldest means she's closer to death and has to come to terms with dying soon moreso than the others. It's actually pretty genius. With Bruno it's probably strength, something fighting and rock types sort of embody. Lance I suspect is "heaven" or "ruler" reflected by the "sacred"reputation and majesty of dragon type and many of them being flying which is associated with the sky and how the sky extends over all in the case of "ruler". Lorelei I'm not too sure, Ice might just be ice in this case. half her team seems part water so it might have something to do with a relationship between those two. I actually find themeing with types more interesting than just mono-typing for the sake of adherence.

Hair Whip type: Fairy physical, single target BP: Varies PP: 10 acc: 100 The user whips the opponent with magically charged hair, This move becomes stronger the higher the user's beauty stat is. In games without beauty stat, it's dependent on happiness instead. Learned by: Jynx, Mawile, Zoroark, Tangela/Tangrowth, Meloetta, Stoutland, Mareep/Flaffy(if only so megampharos can learn it). Razor Blade type: steel physical, single target BP: 95 PP: 15 acc: 100 With hard, sharp blades, the user slices the opponent. If the move swords dance is used the turn before this attack, the base power will increase to 120 instead. Learned by: Kabutops, panwiard/bisharp, Scyther, Cobalion, Keldeo, Virizion, Terrakion, Gallade, honedge/dualblade/aegislash ,

Noibat is TRASH, drop that loser ASAP. You can get one later, and TBH I find Noivern somewhat overrated although he's cool and still isn't bad, also he's good for Charlotte Crobat is excellent and one of the best flying types in the game. He outspeeds nearly everybody especially with a speed nature which combined with acrobatics lets him hit frails mons nice and hard, also he can learn both sunny day and rain dance making him great support for teams utilizing those since he's likely to pull them off without trouble.

Noel is fairly difficult without the field thing though(why is it always assumed people can burn or sludge the field?), and there's always the chance you do end up with rain so honestly I'm not complaining. I actually like his field being able to be used against him since it's a major weakness of the normal type in Reborn generally and this battle sort of teaches you that, Ame evens mentions this being key to beating him. And he does utilize it offensively via hidden power against steel types.

Truthfully Rhyperior stands the best(only) chance of one-shotting Togekiss but if Togekiss uses aura sphere and it lands a POWERFUL you're in trouble. Rock wrecker is good for single player actually since I believe it lets you switch if you KO them. If it doesn't than okay it's not good lol. Idk your team is a little...hmm. if you can pull off trick room, Rhyperior should be able to sweep like the entire team, with some levelling up(at least to 70). You can grind the color clown to do that. I would replace Heracross with something else, something with a solid ice attack would be nice to deal with Gliscor and Altaria. Or a good steel for Archeops and Altaria.
-
Also nearly all of his pokemon have secondary types to take advantage of and his ace Gossip Gardewhore takes physical hits like a pregnant cripple. Use that to your advantage. A lot of newer players make the mistake of just going after the gym's primary type but playing up secondary types and stats are just as important.

And now for our grand finale!!! First of all, Julia was a terrible partner jezz. Twice she KO'd my pokemon with discharge and she kept using ineffective moves, like there's a gyrados on the field, why are you NOT using electric attacks against it? I was able to snatch the win anyway thanks to Jt. Anyway onto Ciel, I brought Togekiss lvl 72 Jt lvl 73 Drifter lvl 64 Gotham lvl 73 Nazca lvl 71 Seattle lvl 65 This is it. The final showdown. The battle to see who truly rules the skies. Here we ascend to heaven, and become gods...okay so not really, we just get a shiny badge, but also the ability to use fly and lay claim to our domain of the endless sky. I open up with Togekiss, mirror match!. Hers is faster so she use...aura sphere? lol does about as much as you'd think, though I still got slah flinched twice this match up. Eventually I managed to set up two nasty plots and a couple of wishes before taking her out with ancient power which I got the boost off of. From then on, it rained blood. Togekiss was UNSTOPPABLE. Archeops? nope. Noivern? GTFO. Gliscor? el OH el. Talonflame? Who? Then her ace came out, Megaltaria, level 78 and ready to rock. One air slash was all it took. Show's over honey. Man what a sweep. I love Togekiss, and I love Vlad for giving me this awesome little guy. Cleanest gym match yet. So for now the run has come to an end. I'll give individual notes on each member of the team later on tonight(well midnight pacific to be exact),. Gotta say, it was one of the funnest(although admittedly easiest minus "vengeful" Aster, Serra/Charlotte and 1st Archer). playthroughs I've had. Greatly enjoyed this run, and I got to hand it to Charizard, he's not half bad in Reborn and dominates the early game especially.

NEW MEMBER WOOOHOOO! Luchadora(Hawlucha) lvl 67 lax nature limber -high jump kick -sky attack -swords dance -brick break I saw it on the way to the water treatment plant and decided to make it a last minute addition. Luchadora will probably be the last member to join our team as we approach the endgame. She's already caught up on levels and I plan on taking her with me to the Water plant and Solaris. About to do the big showdown with Team Meteor. I'm using Luchadora, Gotham, Jt, Nazca, Hyperflight, and Togekiss. Have to bring my big guns. Also Fern is so cool in scene where he gets off the helicopter Sirius: Now will be the moment to prove yourself boy Fern:Please I don't need to prove anything. And don't call me boy. The name's fern. Blake:We'll remember it after you do something worth remembering. Fern: I guess that means we should forget you after what happened in Amertrine Blake:Hah! Nevermind I like this kid! Fern: Damn right, you do. Blue has got NOTHING on Fern man. That dialogue exchange right there embodies why we love Fern so much. Huh? Oh no no no no no wait up why the am I teamed up with Julia against Solaris!? This is NOT what happened last time! My team isn't built for the boom

I used to think Chandlure had leveitate until I realized it didn't have 4 abilities lol. Yeah it has flash fire.

I find the Mad Hatter waaaay easier than Noel, amazing how different players struggle with different leaders. Noel becomes much easier if you can set his field aflame, also note that if Porygon Z gets a download off a pokemon that increases his special attack, it will turn him into a demon so you want download to boost his attack instead. I think it works off whatever pokemon your using's defense/special defense so against him initially choose something with lower defense than special defense so he gets an attk boost instead of a special attack boost, which works against his special-focused moveset. As for cincinno...ugh that guy. A fast fighting type that can outspeed hit and hit it hard works wonders against it, otherwise you want something that can hit it hard while tanking its attacks praying you don't flinch which usually happens as it's holding a king's rock. I think this and Porygon Z are his two most troublesome pokemon. Swellow isn't bad, you want to be able to take it out ASAP because it's very fast and deals a ton of damage once it's burned. Embargo is a neat way to prevent that guts boost while paralysis still gives him the boost but nerfs his speed. Or you can just one shot it with a rock type STAB, probably the best option. Clefable again should be taken out ASAP. The more it sticks around the harder it becomes to KO, and due to its ability the burning field doesn't hurt it, neither does poison or leech seed. You just kind of have to out muscle it which a good steel STAB can do, but I think its hidden power is SE against steel so be careful. Wiggs and Girafarig are easy, but Wiggs can set up stealth rocks.

No no no no no. Don't use emolga against Banette, it'll lose. Banette hits too hard and emolga can't take that hit too well, plus it has shadow sneak which it WILL use once emolga gets down to yellow. Better to use Mightyena but BEWARE of destiny bond. And why are you using Venusaur against Gengar!? Gengar has poorer defenses than special defenses(though they both suck) and resist grass attacks since he's poison. In fact you might be better off using Emolga against him, see how much acrobatics deals on Gengar. If it takes him to yellow, there's the guy you should be using since Gengar can't really one-shot it even with a field boosted critical, at worst it'll take him to red...well in theory, might want to test that out lol. I'd save Venusaur for Rotom or alternatively Banette since he resists discharge and hits him neutral but still can take Rotom out in 2-3 turns with petal dance and can take a shadow ball while doing it. Macargo is fine against doublade and even Trevenant, though since you're using Magcargo emolga isn't really as necessary. Hmm I guess you can use him against Banette but I think it's risky.

The Ones Left On The Table: Worst Starters
Monochrome_Complex replied to Chase's topic in Pokémon Fan Club
Yeah I think Typhlosion looks the worst out of his line. His colors look weird due to how they're patterned and on two legs, he exchanged quilava's awesome flaming mohawk for a collar and doesn't look all that fast either. I always thought he looked underdeveloped and weird especially comapred to the other two starter forms(though I don't get Meganium losing it's head leaf). -
Not only this but a lot of the girl protags seem overly brotastic but I've just accepted that Rejuvenation's little eccentricity. But yeah a lot of the dudes aren't too likable and even the villain dudes seem overshadowed by the females in coolness9Madame X is badass and Angie's arc was pretty intense). Maybe Jan just writes females better or prefers to write them, idk.
