At last, this was the moment Keaton was eagerly awaiting. He hoped only that his partners would listen to him.
First, he sent out "Baltoy". It was a small spinning top-shaped thing. That couldn't seriously be a weapon. Unless he jousted his enemies with it, using its bottom as a sharp edge.
real_baltoy_by_spastman-d3c4yc7.jpg

Of course, the bottom curves far too much, and should be more "sharp"

The creature spun around several times, before coming to a standstill. It was able to stand perfectly flat without moving. Baltoy turned to Keaton, looking up expectantly. "Wow..." he mumbled, in amazement. "You're like a spinning top," he said. It levitated up, reaching his stomach and went no further, but circled him slowly. "I think I'll call you Axis, little..." Was it a guy? A girl? It seemed like it was neither. "Guess you're just Axis, then."

Next, he grabbed his other capsule, tossing out a fox-like GAO.

The creature was similar to a fox, but had six tails. "Incredible." It also seemed to radiate heat as he approached it. "Easy, girl," he said as he crouched down to scratch her ear. When he made contact with it, his hand warmed up instantly. He scratched the area behind her ears, and she seemed to enjoy that. "This is awesome. You're like a patrol dog. I'll call you Sheriff. Sound good?" he asked. She perked up slowly at the name, thankfully. She didn't want him dead.
Keaton had two of his own creatures. Axis and Sheriff. One was a floating ceramic creature and the other a heat-radiating fox. This seemed too good to be true, especially since they seemed to not want to hurt him. However, he immersed his attention more in the creature he could understand, Sheriff.

Jory stood still as Oak asked them to release their GAOs, still cradling Nefertiti in his arms. She made a low yipping noise, which Jory took to mean she wanted to be put down. He bent over and released the GAO from his arms, allowing it to land adroitly on the ground. She cautiously approached Keaton's fox-like GAO, then, seeming satisfied with what she'd discovered, approached Sheriff and made an inquisitive mewling noise. Jory chuckled lightly, then looked down at his other capsule.

"Professor, are some of the GAOs more wild than others? Nefertiti over there seems to be quite docile, but my Ponyta seems like he's going to trample me at any moment."

Alright then. Let's see what I've gotten into. Nathan pulled the capsules from his belt. "Let's see what a. . ." He paused to read the label on the first one. ". . . a Charmander is." He clicked the button on the front, and a small creature emerged with a flash. It appeared to be nothing more than a large, bipedal lizard, except for one striking feature. Its tail was aflame, and appeared to be naturally so.

15-Real-Charmander.jpg

"So, can you control that at all, or is that just for decoration?" The lizard thing replied by looking at him, then belching out a few sparks. He deftly took a step backward before they landed on his boots. So it's like a dragon, eh? I guess I can see this being useful, though I still think a sidearm is more reliable. Nathan pulled out the other sphere and clicked the button once more. Out popped another lizard-like creature. This one was blue, as opposed to the orange of the other, and in the place of flames, it had armor plates running from its head down its back.

"So do you do anything interesting?" The creature answered him by charging at him with head lowered. He sidestepped, and it thumped into a nearby tree. It seemed unfazed by the collision, but didn't charge again. "Feisty, aren't you?"

Lars nearly shouted in joy when he heard that he could finally let his partners out. He was eager to see what sort of creatures they had decided to give him.

"Alright..." he began, "Let's start with Nidoran!"

He pushed the button on the sphere, anxious to see what it was.

__nidoran_male___by_silverwerwolf-d3fxum

A pinkish, rabbit-like creature emerged from the ball. Its smooth fur was offset by the sharp spikes poking through. It had a particularly large spike on its head. Lars crouched next to it to get a better look.

"Well..." he started, a little at a loss for words. "You aren't exactly the biggest, scariest thing out there..." His face switched to a small smile. "But I bet those spikes can cause some pain!"

The creature's ears twitched as Lars spoke. "Well, what can I name you...?" he paused, putting on a thoughtful face. After a short time, an idea came to him. "I know! How about 'Pin'! You know, 'cuz of your spikes and all." The Nidoran immediately turned its back on him and gave a snort. Lars frowned.

"What, you don't like it? Hmm... I'll just have to think about it some more..." The creature didn't even look at him. "Aw, come on, don't be that way..." he pleaded. When it didn't react he sighed. "Well so far, no good," he said, pushing the button and returning the creature to the sphere.

"Time for the next one," Lars said, with less enthusiasm after the first failure. "Abra..." he murmered. "What is it, a magician?"

As the white light spread out, he saw another small shape come starting to take form.

"Well, there goes any hopes for a big powerful one..." he muttered.

tumblr_m94lcjSryK1rvefyco1_1280.jpg

This creature appeared to be a mix between a mouse-fox and an alien.

"You know, it kind of looks similar to the fake Oak's creature..." he thought. The coloring was similar and it had the same body armor.

"What do I call you?" he said, leaning down to get a closer look. The creature showed no reaction. Lars waved a hand passed it.

"Hello?" He paused, his face taking on a disappointed expression. "Are you sleeping...?" When there was still no reaction, he picked it up and cradled it in one arm, with no response or movement from the Abra.

"Well I guess I'll call you 'Sleepy'," he said, shrugging his shoulders. "It's only fitting."

Lars sighed. Not only were both of his creatures small and fairly weak looking, but one of them already disliked him after the naming incident, and the other only wanted to sleep.

"Looks like I'm off to a good start..."

Clint took a look around the room to notice everyone else's partners. After Surge had rushed in, Clint had recalled his Onix and now had both of his own creatures put away. While looking around the room Clint began to notice that only his Onix seemed to be of any notable size, and that most of the other cadets monsters were significantly smaller in size than even the imposter's monsters.

"What's the dealio, how come my dude is huge and there guys are so tiny. Well, I mean my Tyrogue is also small, but that's not too important cause big pimpin' is HUGE!" As Clint pondered on this he also came to the decision to release his own partners and give them a look to make sure they were alright from the lashing the fake Oak's creatures had just given them.

First, he called out the fiesty Tyrogue. As the fighter emerged from the sphere he glanced around the room looking for Clemont, desperate for his own revenge. Then he took note of all of the other trainers taking a look at their new partners and started to sneak over to Lars' new partner who appeared similar in appearance to Clemont.

"Oh, no you don't!" Clint said grabbing his Tyrogue and scanning his body for injuries. "You already got us in enough trouble, but it looks like ya just picked up a few bruises, you should be aight," Clint said putting his brawler down, while listening in on the other's conversations, "Are we supposed to be given' our guys nick-names?" Clint thought to himself before quickly deciding on a name for his Tyrogue, "Well, you sure as hell love a fight, so I guess I'm gonna call you Rocky," Clint said to his Tyrogue giving it a warm smile. Just as the words hit Tyrogue's ears a big smile came across its face, then it decided it would give its new master a firm reply, and embedded it's fist directly into Clint's stomach.

"OH YOU SON OF A BI-" Clint began to scream, quickly stopping himself before he drew any more attention to himself. After quickly collecting himself Clint knelt down next to Rocky and whispered "If ya hit me again Rock, I'm gonna get big pimpin' out here to knock ya aroun' a bit, you here me." That seemed to register with the small Tyrogue as he backed away from his trainer and waited patiently, while Clint threw Onix's sphere to the ground, far away from the other cadets.

With a gush of white smoke and an earth-shattering roar the huge Onix reappred with a big goofy smile on its face. "How ya doin' big pimpin'?" Clint asked the gigantic snake. The creature responded with yet another roar and a happy nod of his head. "Well, dat's good to hear," he answered while eying his creature up and down. "Can dis guy even get hurt?" he thought to himself, while noticing most of the Onix's rocky structure was largely the same as it had appeared before the fight with Clemont, then he looked over to Logan and Erick.

"How are your guys doin'? I mean ya should probably give 'em a look over after the fights they just went through," he said in a friendly tone to who he now thought would be his two closer friends in the group since both had in one way or another stood up for him.

Oak turned and answered Jory's question

"Well, yes, of course they are. But go ahead, release your ponyta, It was probably just uncomfortable being inside a building."

Erick stared down at his Ralts. His curiosity in whether or not a GAO had a gender was peaked when he had heard keaton inspecting his Baltoy.

"Hey, professor, what... What gender is my Ralts? Just out of curiosity."

Oak turned to Erick and answered rather curtly

"Female..."

Erick stared at the small child-like creature. It stared back up at him with a human-like intelligence burning in her deep scarlet eye's. As far as he could tell, there was no bodily differentiation to signify it as a male or female.

"And... how do you know this...?

He was suspicious as to his Ralts origins. He'd heard a few... rumors of people being turned into things by the Virus, but hadn't given them any mind till this moment.

Oak didn't answer at first, but his face darkened, Confirming the suspicion in Erick's mind. Ray had heard the question, and he turned away, not meeting Erick's eyes.

Erick picked up Virtue in his arms and stepped forward a little closer to them. he asked a different question this time.

"What was her name before she turned"

Ray, knowing that there was no use in trying to hide the truth now, finally brought himself to look Erick in the eyes and answer.

"That... I mean, Ralts, Virtue, I believe you named her..."

"Yes, I named her Virtue. that was before I found out that she was once human. Now TALK!"

Reluctantly, Ray and Oak led Erick out of earshot of the rest of the group. it was then that Ray began his explanation as the three of them stood near the treeline, backs to the group.

"Ralts... Virtue... Her name was Genisa. She was a... five year old orphan... she became infected with the virus. none of the suppressors would have any effect... so the... Director of the orphanage took her to the local CDC... Me and oak were there... On a consultation call..."

Erick, still carying Virtue in one hand, grabbed Ray by the lapel with the other.

"You gonna continue your explanation, buddy?"

Oak picked up where Ray left off.

"We were called in to examine her, We knew from the minute we saw her that there was no chance of recovery. the only thing we could do was give her anesthesia to ease the pain... We were powerless to help this child... The only thing We could do was sit by her bedside as her body began to tear itself apart and then rebuild itself... in a new form."

Ray brushed off Erick's hand and picked up.

"When... it was done... Genisa had transformed into... the being you're holding right now..."

Erick unleashed a torrent of questions

"What was her last name, Who were her parents?"

Ray looked away from him

"We don't know..."

Erick knew this was a lie by Ray's body language.

"Don't you feed me that BS. The evaluation agency test every child at age five, whether they have a home or not. Tell me, Ray."

Ray gave up and told.

"Genisa... Algarra. Her mother was Leandra... Algarra. Her father was Angeal Algarra, of the U.S. Army... Lieutenant commander of the 7th Patrol, and underling of... Major Stanly S. Freeman."

Erick couldn't help but take a few steps back in shock.

Algarra... My next door neighbors... but then...

Erick had some dark thoughts brewing in his head, he ignored them and pressed onward.

"Her mother... Leandra... I remember... they lived right next door to me... Her mother was infected, and quarantined in the very house she used to live in... Her father took her to stay somewhere else while her mother was ill. That was a week before the Storm Encounter. Then on that day..."

The visions of what occured that day flashed in his mind, he was about to try and force them down when something else did it for him. he heard that familiar voice.

No time to breakdown from visions of the past. You need to know this.

"Her father... there were two casualties... Stanly S. Freeman, Major General of the U.S. Army... And Angeal Algarra... First lieutenant."

Ray put his hand on Erick's shoulder.

"Yes... Her mother disappeared... Estimatedly during the attack that killed her husband... She had no other living relatives, and was put into the system as a ward of the state."

Erick took a few minutes to push back the wall of emotion that was threatening to crash down on him. he failed in stopping the torrent of thought that accompanied it.

So it wasn't just my own father that I just sat by and let die that day... my father's assault rifle, it dropped right next to me when the thing jumped on him... I could've filled that thing with lead until the clip was empty... but I sat by like a coward... to afraid to act. Then Lt. Algarra came.. and it killed him with a bolt of electricity before he even knew what was happening... then that white creature showed up out of nowhere... with that green helm... And it eventually died too... but it saved me...

Virtue, Genisa, gave him another hug like she had in the Atrium. it was obvious she had some ability to sense emotion. he continued to press Ray, getting shakier with each passing moment.

"Tell me... why did you put in this... program here. she was human, and yet here you go, putting her in a program where you knew she'd probably die like a dog in one of those animal fights from the early 2000's. Why...?"

Ray stepped closer.

"Because... Erick, you know what the...procedure is for a person who has transformed... Don't you...?"

"Of course. it's a double-tap. two shots to the head to ensure death, my father's the one who suggested it..."

"Yes Erick. Had we have done nothing... she would have died that day, despite having survived the infection and transformation. But we did do something. We ordered the soldiers and CDC agents to stand down... we told them anyone who harmed the subject would face death by firing squad..."

Oak broke in

"which would have been untrue and somewhat illegal if Full martial law hadn't have been in effect. but when it was, me and Ray had alot more authority beyond our fields, and the soldiers and CDC agents knew that we could arrange for it if we pulled a few strings... so..."

Ray continued.

"We just walked out of there with her... we took her back with us. and then we eventually put her into the project..."

Erick was on the breaking point.

"So you saved her then... But what does that matter!? how does putting her in this project, as my partner, keep her alive anymore than just allowing procedure to be carried out!? This is... wrong..."

Erick sank to his knees, Genisa's arms still wrapped around his neck. Ray knelt to look him in the face.

"Erick, everyone received the partners they did for a reason... everyone was very carefully matched by myself. I gave you Genisa as a partner for the very reaction you just showed. I knew you would personally take responsibility for her, the test all pointed to you being that kind of person. I knew you'd watch over her. I know you will do whatever is in your power to keep her alive in the heat of combat. I chose you as her partner... because you already had a connection on some level with her... You won't be willing to see her as expendable. I can't really say that about some people in this group..."

"Can she communicate in english?"

"Yes, we tested for that, and it seems she is capable of telepathic communication in english... it takes alot of effort on her part though..."

Erick felt like sobbing. A tear or two fell down his face. then he couldn't hold back. he wrapped his arms around Ralts and returned Genisa's hug. He couldn't hold back anymore... He began sobbing... Quietly. as he had decided to never be weak in any form long ago. He whispered one thing over and over again to Virtue

"I'm sorry... I could've prevented this from happening to you in the first place... I'm sorry."

Oak and Ray returned to the rest of the group, whispering to each other on the way.

"Should we tell him his piplup didn't make it?"

"No, not right now. Tomorrow, though..."

One minute. He allowed himself to sob for one minute, and that was the end of it. he released Virtue on the ground. He stood and recomposed himself, readying to return to the group. He asked Virtue one question.

"do you want to be called your real name?"

Virtue... shrugged.

"So you're fine with either virtue or Genisa?"

she nodded.

"Alright then, i'll call you Virtue around other people, and Genisa when it's just us or Ray or Oak. How does that sound.

She nodded again. He picked up Virtue and put her on his shoulder, then walked back to the group. He decided to stand near Clint and Logan, watching as Clint released his partners, then as Clint's tyrogue promptly punched Clint in the stomach after he reprimanded it for trying to start trouble again. He answered Clint's question a little hesitantly.

"well, Virtue doesn't have a scratch on her, she came close in the fight with pseudo Oak, though, he sent his owl beast at us, but then I had her throw up a barrier, and that owl thing smashed right into it like a bird slamming into a closed window by accident.Guess it's because she doesn't need to get in close to attack..."

Jory nodded at Oak's suggestion, then pressed the white button in the center of Sampson's ball again. The fiery GAO appeared in a flash of light, then whinnied happily and took off galloping around the edge of the clearing. "I guess he just had to... burn off a little steam," Jory said lightheartedly, chuckling to himself as Sampson came back around and stood near Jory, giving its trainer a derisive snort. "Although I still don't think he thinks much of me. Do ya, big guy?" The GAO snorted again, as if in answer to Jory's question.

Meanwhile..

As things are getting more and more complex and their Base being compromised, they we’re escorted to the forest were the cadets seems to be getting along just fine with their GAO. As Sid wonders off a few separated from the group, He takes a breather near a tree and sits there holding one ball in his hand while Horsea seems to be waking up from the comfort of his shirt

I see you’re waking up little buddy… how could you sleep in a time like that? So much action for one day huh? He replied as if he was scolding a baby. Horsea seems frighten jumps out of his shirt then out of nowhere sprays some sort of smoke from its mouth surprising Sid as he is covered in ink. Sid yeld at Horsea “What the hell you little turp?!” as his emotion got the best of him. Horsea seems determined and has a fierce look on her face, as the tree behind him begin to move. extending its arms.

185___sudowoodo_by_fuzzyacornindustries-

Sid turned his head slowly and with a shaken look and said "what the fuck" as the tree like creature seems to grab him, fortunately Horsea keeps spraying the smog and finally aims for the creature's eye. The creature was blinded as Sid quickly grab Horsea with his arms and dashes towards the camp all covered in ink. As they run Sid looks at Horsea seemingly happy that they got away.

"Shhh... that was close thanks for that smokescreen you just pulled little buddy" Sid thinks of a nickname cliche enough to his Horsea's stunt back there "I think I'll call you Smoke". Horsea responded by spraying ink in his face as some sort of hearty gesture. "this will be our little secret" as Sid smiles. finally he got back to the camp all mess up covered in ink and feeling a bit jumpy after that incident.

Clint tilted his head and squinted his eyes while Erick was talking. He desperately wanted to understand what the hell Erick was talking about, but he just couldn't wrap his brain around it. For some reason all of the other cadets seemed to have an innate ability to understand their partner's unique abilities, but he was completely at a loss. After Erick had finished and asked Logan how his monkey was doing Clint decided to interject with his question.

"How, uh, well," Clint started, he wasn't even sure how to phrase his question, "How do ya know what kinda moves ya guys got?" Clint finally decided on, "I mean my commands were simple, ya know hit 'em with ya tail, punch him in the face, stuff like that. But, you, and the intruda, and some of the others, well, it seems like you all know sumtin', so like how did ya figure it all out?"

Logan wasn’t sure if he should release Chimchar again with the other GAO’s around. Especially since the monkey had taken an interest in Clint’s Tyrogue. He stared at the sphere in his hand when both Erick and Clint asked how Chimchar was doing. Clint even asked for advice on how to call out for attacks. “I don’t know either,” Logan said. “I told Chimchar to attack and it started to scratch. But I’m pretty sure it has a way to manipulate fire.”

“To answer your first question: I don’t know how my monkey is doing. It did seem restless and active before.” Logan took out his second sphere and released Squirtle first. The turtle looked at the other GAO’s intently before facing back to Logan, with a questioning look on its face. “Before I release your buddy, I want to know what you can do. Show me an attack.” It was a simple order and Logan expected an attack like his Chimchar used earlier. The turtle didn’t hesitate and spit a jet of water out of its mouth into Logan’s face.

“Ya, thanks for the shower buddy.”

Squirtle seemed to enjoy himself as it started laughing and rolling on its shell.
“Not bad,” Logan said while using his shirt as a towel. “Listen, when Chimchar acts up and goes after one of the other GAO’s here, use that water attack to crush him.” Squirtle stopped laughing and excitedly nodded. “Someone looks forward to attacking Chimchar. If you like the idea of crushing opponents, I guess I’ll call you Crush.” The Squirtle smiled at that nickname.

A few moments later Logan released Chimchar. The fiery monkey started to act up immediately. After it saw all the other GAO’s around, it found Tyrogue. But before Chimchar even had a chance to do something, Squirtle used its water attack. “You got to be kidding me. Crush, only use it when he actually does something!” Logan said. Crush shrugged and started to gesture something when it got hit by a fire attack from Chimchar. Crush wanted to retaliate, until it noticed that Chimchar was swaying and collapsed.

“Chimchar!” Logan took the monkey in his arms. “Professor Oak! There’s something wrong with Chimchar!”

"Yes, I named her Virtue. That was before I found out that she was once human. Now TALK!"

------------------------------------------------

That was all Lars caught before Oak and Ray led Erick away into the forest.

"Based on the professor's reactions, it seems like Erick hit the nail on the head... So there are humans who have survived the virus..."

He looked down at the Abra nestled in his arm, still sleeping.

"Luckily neither of you two seem to be that way," he muttered to the sleeping Abra. "You both seem to have come from animals."

The Abra gave no response as usual, the only movement being from the breath in its lungs.

"You're sure a heavy sleeper, huh?" he said to the creature.

He began to think I why they had chosen to give him these two particular creatures. Neither looked to be terribly useful in combat, and one wouldn't even wake up. Is it because they thought him among the worst in the group. He remembered Clint's giant rock snake.

"It seems that they've decided who they have the most trust in..." he thought. "They also seem to be open to telling Erick things that the rest of us don't get to know. I wonder why that is?"

He turned back to Sleepy.

"Well, even if they don't expect much of us, we'll just have to show them what we can do!" he said, the usual grin taking hold on his face.

The Abra made no movement.

"Well, if you ever wake up..."

"How do ya know what kinda moves ya guys got?"

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Erick was stumped as how to answer Clint's question. Then the Voice chimed in...

Remember, the best way to lie, is to include part of the truth...

Erick decided to take the advice again.

"Well... I uh... I don't really know how. I just think about what I want Ge-..."

Realizing that he came very close to blundering just now, Erick fained a cough, forcing himself to break off the sentence before he could say something he shouldn't. He made sure that it was a deep, Hacking sound, to make it more believable.

"Sorry about that, anyway... I think about what I want Virtue to do, and then words... Well I guess they kinda just come to me. Call it intuition I guess; though, So far the only real command I've figured out is 'Barrier'... All my other orders have been kinda vague."

Erick turned and watched as Logan called out his Squirtle, who promptly jeted a stream of water into his face, then called out his chimchar. which too was squirted with water, falling to the ground after retaliating with an attack of it's own, Logan called out for Oak's help.

Oak joged over, then slowed his pace when he finally aproached.

"Why, there's nothing truly wrong. Chimchar has merely run out of energy, causing it to faint from fatigue.

Oak reached out and touched Chimchar, looking at his hand as he pulled it back, noticing that the chimp's Fur was excessively wet.

Oak looked to Logan's Squirtle, Crush, and pieced together what likely happened.

"You exposed it to water didn't you? Well that would explain this, You see, Chimchar, is of a fire affinity, or, type, if you will, that means it has the ability to freely manipulate flames. Your squirtle is of a Water Type, meaning it can manipulate water. Now, when fire is directly exposed to water, It almost never ends well for Fire. You Chimchar should be fine this time, but in the future, restrain from using water based attacks on it from your squirtle. give it some rest and it'll be up and about in a few hours."

One of the guards began shouting something at the tree line, several others ran over to him. a few gunshots rang out, and one of the guards send out a wolf like creature...

Real_Mightyena__by_MichaelSchumacher5.pn

An earsplitting roar rang out as the wolf-like being dashed off into the forest, pursuing some unknown prey. Several moments pass in silence. Then an explosion of electricity shatters the quiet, a massive thunder cloud gathers overhead...

lightning_explosion_by_soulfull88-d38t33

The wolf like creature that was deployed Runs back from the forest, limping and whining, it had several burns on it's body. It's handler knelt to examine the wounds as several other soldiers sent out similar wolf creatures and ran off into the forest with them, apparently trying to find a scent. The explosion Startled Virtue and caused her to fall off of Erick's shoulder, he promptly caught her in his arms. The wolf Creature was attended to by it's handler, Ray was nearby assisting. Oak had rushed over to the soldiers when the shots began, as had Ray.

An inhuman roar tore through the air as a fierce some beast, with golden fur and a mane of lightning, soared up to the Nimbus cloud, seemingly wounded and retreating, thunder cracked and lightning charred the earth as it raced across the Sky, seemingly an electrified meteor going in the wrong direction...

raikoubysanguisgelidusd.jpg

_raikou__by_soni_ganishi-d5quqy7.jpg

Another inhuman cry echoed up as it reached the cloud and the entire storm that had been brewing shot off to the south at an impossible speed. The sky was instantly clear again as it zipped away.

The soldiers asked Oak for permision to persue, but Surge cut in

"Permission Denied, soldiers. That thing is hundreds of miles away from the bases territory by now, and with no way of knowing exactly where it went, we'd just be wasting man power."

All of the soldiers who went into the Forest came back with their GAO's, shaking their head, as there was no way to track a scent from a creature that got around by flying. Oak walked over to the Group, Reaching into his blazer's front pockets and pulling out two spheres, sending both of them out, releasing Clemont and an owl like creature, much like those that were used by Pseudo- Oak. he shouted out commands for Clemont to telepathically scan the area, and for the owl to fly out and scan the forest from the air. The Psychic Fox-man sat cross legged and hovered about ten feet in the air, it's spoons revolving around it at blinding speed as it focused, and the Owl flew off screeching.

Oak addressed the Group

"Now then, Not one of you is allowed to ask any questions about what just happened! We will be remaining here for the time being, but will leave... a bit sooner than scheduled. Now then, I would like every one to get to know their partners a little more while we're still here.

Erick couldn't help but comment on the beast he just saw.

"That thing... that's what I saw on during the Storm Encounter... That's what did it... I was an idiot if I ever thought I could kill it alone... It...It looked so much stronger just now than it did then..."

A voice echoed in his head. it wasn't the usual one though, this one sounded like a child, and it had far more breaks in it.

N...N...Not...A-Alone....

He looked at Virtue, still in his arms. She looked like she was in fatigue, the thought message had obviously come from her, just like Ray had said, she was still capable of communicating in english.

something clicked inside Erick's mind. His thirst for vengence was renewed at these words

(theme: The Truth of Vengence)

Yes, that's right... I'm not. I have the Military now, And my partners. That thing, It has grown much stronger since I saw it. What will happen if that thing is allowed to live any longer, how much destruction would it be able to cause, how many other people will suffer terrible loss because of it.What it did that day, I will never forgive it, But I've been set on hunting it down for the wrong reasons. Killing that thing won't bring back my Father, or Lt. Algarra or the white creature, but it will end it's threat, and for that reason I will never stop pursuing it.

Galvanized by a new sense of Drive, He involuntarily squeezed his arms a little harder, causing Virtue to protest as she was being crushed. He loosened his hold and stared down at her

"Sorry. that message just know,That was you, wasn't it?" Erick asked

Virtue nodded, then fell asleep, Resting her head on Erick's shoulder

*for those of you who haven't posted about your partners, now is the time...*

Lars watched Oak release his two creatures. They looked nearly identical to the ones that false Oak had used.

"They must be the same species," he thought. "The imposters were very thorough in their research."

He was startled as Sleepy wiggled in his arms. It stretched its arms, but its eyes still didn't appear to be open. It reached an arm out in the direction of Oak's creature, the one he called Clemont.

"W-what are you doing...?" Lars asked it, a little startled by its sudden movements.

"They must be more similar than I thought... I'm getting confused again..."

"You want to go over there?" he asked it. It almost seemed to nod.

"Can it understand me?! No, I must just be imagining things. Still it does appear to want to go over there."

Lars set the creature on the ground. It just sat there and looked up at him with its closed eyes, before looking over towards Clemont and making the grasping motion again.

"What, you can't walk either?" He put a hand over his face. "Gah... you're proving more useless by the second..."

He picked up Sleepy and decided it would be best to ask Oak before approaching the GAO.

"U-um, is it all right if I take him by Clemont?" Abra reached out in the GAO's direction again. "I mean, I wouldn't want to interrupt whatever you had him do, but as you can see, this little guy seems to want to go over there... I don't really know why, though." He paused before adding, "Honestly, this is the only reaction I've managed to get from him at all..."

((Sorry about being lengthy))

"Now then, Not one of you is allowed to ask any questions about what just happened! We will be remaining here for the time being, but will leave... a bit sooner than scheduled. Now then, I would like every one to get to know their partners a little more while we're still here."

As soon as Oak has given the orders, Sid walks away from the group and takes a breather again near a tree this time near the premises and the cadets.

Man, that's a big bad thunder tiger i have ever seen. good thing i didn't encounter it along the way or i would been the Sean Bean of this group. I know Smoke(horsea) got my back, as for shinx i don't know if i can rely on him.

Sid looks around looking for a sparing partner. The Cadets seems have their own ways to train but i don't know if they feel comfortable with the likes of me.. hmm let me see seems everyone's busy getting to know their GAO. Sid gets up and said in his mind I'll do it my self! as he release Shinx from its ball. As soon as Shinx Appears he leaps over Sid head and grab his cap. and starts nibbling on it.

Sid got the idea as he tries to separate Shinx and his hat, then he throws Shinx like a rug doll as it landed on its feet. Sid spins his hat on his fingers and said in a provoking voice and a grin on his face "I'm going to teach you what they taught me in the streets, if you want something you better hustle for it peep squeak! let me see what you got!" as he wave his hat like a matador.

Shinx being playful charges and tries to get the cap as it misses, "too slow boy!" as Sid keep dodging and as Shinx tries again several times. Shinx expression begins to change as if it was getting really annoyed as Sid grabs a pebble and throws it at Shinx adding gasoline to the fire. Its tail begin to glow so as its fangs got bigger and electricity was flowing as it sparkles, Sid looks impressed as he standstill waiting to see what will happen. It charges and finally grabs the cap as Sid felt like he was being tasered as the current went through his body and his knees hit the ground and blackout. he gain consciousness seeing Shinx licking him and with his cap on its head.

"Goodboy you're not useless afterall" as he pets Shinx with a soft spoken voice, he realize that his half of his body was paralyze as he slowly walks towards the higher officers asking for medical attention. Sid was thinking that was stupid and satisfying at the same time, I got a good ally on my hands as he grins.

Oak explained to Logan what had happened to Chimchar. Apparently his Squirle, Crush, had an advantage over Chimchar. “So we have to consider affinities as well,” Logan mumbled to himself. With that in mind he noticed Crush’s reaction towards the storm. The turtle was startled when lightning attacks flew around in the direction of the forest. Crush turned his head and looked like it was on guard. Logan studied the unusual behavior. Normally Crush acted cool and looked down on other GAO, but this time he looked panicked.
“You don’t like electricity, do you?” Logan asked.
Crush shook his head, pointed to the forest, himself and then towards the monkey in Logan’s arms. It only took Logan a few moments to figure out what Crush tried to tell him. “If you get hit by lightning you end up like Chimchar after he took a water attack…”
Crush nodded.

“Interesting,” Logan said while putting Chimchar back in its sphere. “What else causes you to faint?”
The turtle looked around, looking for another GAO with an advantage over him. Apparently it didn’t find any, so it ran towards the forest, picked some grass and gave it to Logan. “Grass?” the cadet asked confused.

(( I'm not sure if Squirtle can know his disadvantages. If he doesnt, just let me know and I'll delete my last sentence.))

Surge Watched as the massive storm had zipped away to the south, And knew that there would be no way that the soldiers would be able to pursue it without some high-speed aircraft or a GAO capable of the same, neither of which were currently available at Bexly. He had no choice but to deny their request to Oak.

Afterwards, he noticed as Ray assisted the handler of the wounded Wolf GAO (mightyena for those who haven't guessed it yet) tend the creatures many wounds; it's right front paw was bloodied and it had several seveere electrical burns all over it's face and back. at the sight of the wounded creature, Surge couldn't help but let his thoughts drift to his pidgeotto. He stepped up to the two and addressed Ray.

"Ray, what ever did happen to mine and Ericks GAOs?"

Ray finished bandaging the injured paw and stood, turning to face Surge. He placed his hand on his shoulder.

"I'm sorry Matthew..."

Surge knew the answer wouldn't be good at all; Ray would never Address him on a first name basis unless it was so.

Ray continued

"Neither one made it... Your Pidgeotto was pronounced dead on arrival at the med center. Erick's piplup... There was a lab complication."

"So the two of us are down a partner."

"Yes, in a sense."

Ray took out a can of greenish ointment from a medical bag that sat by his side, and began smearing it on the Mightyena's burns.

"What did you name that Fruit species?" Surge asked

"Rawst berries" Answered Ray.

"They grow around the area?"

Ray looked up at Surge

"All of the Berry species we've discovered thus far grow heavilly in this forest. And the variety of Wild GAO out here as well... It's almost as if the Morpher Virus made sure to target this area more than any others around it."

He looked back down at the Mightyena's burns, it's face was now covered in the green ointment, the Creature couldn't help but lick the green substance around it's snout. Surge noticed a sparkling on the ground, by the Mightyena's paws. He reached down and picked it up, The creature didn't other any protest at this.

He turned it over a few times in his hand...

pokemon_thunder_stone_by_raikou_sonzai-d

"What is this?" He asked

The soldier answered

"He had that in his mouth when he came back from the encounter, Sir."

Ray picked up

"I've already examined it, and it seems to give off some type of radial energy..."

Surge fumbled the thing and dropped it to the ground at this

"It... it's not nuclear or anything... Is it?"

Ray finished spreading the ointment on the creatures back. closing the jar and placing it back in the bag, he answered Surge.

"No, no, nothing like that. The energy from this thing is far different. Pick it up, tell me what you feel in your hand."

Surge did as ray suggested, this time the stone had a strange tingling feel in his palms

"It... feels like an electric shock actually..."

"Precisely, I've theorized that whatever that thing was, it's power to manipulate electricity had a part in this stone's creation. In other words, the raw power of the sky itself is embedded in it."

Ray packed the rest of the medical supplies and stood up.

"You still have those two other stones we found?"

"Yeah, right here."

Surge reached into a pocket on his fatigue jacket and produced two stones

pokemon_water_stone_by_chinookcrafts-d5032475.jpg

"good" said Ray as he placed the thunderstone in Surges hand, where the other stones lay. There seemed to be some reaction at this, as all three stones glowed a little.

"Just as I thought, there's some relationship between these stones. Let's see what a GAO's reaction to them is..."

Ray took out Salem's capsule and sent him out. The fiery tiger edged closer to the firestone the moment it saw it, but other than that, there was no subsequent reaction.

"well, let's have another trial. Surge, why don't you send out your remaining partner."

Surge reached into his pocket and sent out his one remaining partner:

Eevee-s-Guild-image-eevees-guild-3632104

the young fox-like creature rolled on the ground a few times, much to Surge's chagrin.

"come on, Infantry! Enough of that."

Reluctantly, the creature stopped rolling and got to it's feet.

Surge knelt down and held out to three stones in front of it.

"Do you really think there's any point to this?"

"yes... maybe... I found some... Interesting anomalies in Infantry's genome. It seems that under the right conditions... well I can't really say for sure what will happen."

The young GAO walked up to each of the stones as Ray spoke.

It's fur grew sleeker and even seemed to take on a light blue hue as it approached the Blue stone, Shifting to become Staticy and yellowish as it approached the Thunder, and Then turning a deep blood red as it approached the Firestone. finally, the GAO stepped back from the stones, it's fur returning to it's normal brown.

"Hmmm... How interesting."

Ray was writing down notes.

"Have it touch one, Surge."

"fine..."

Surge told Infantry to touch one. the creature stepped forward again, staring at each one in turn. finally, it made up it's mind and touched the deep red stone.

It's body became engulfed in a fiery glow as a heat began to fill the air. The Creatures body erupted in light as it's form changed, It's body rearranging it's genetic code to fit it's new form and abilities. The Air grew even hotter, and the glow even more intense, finally, it all ended, the air cooled back down, and standing where Infantry was, is now a fiery red creature with an orange mane:

tumblr_l93nhvOING1qdj6xoo1_500.jpg

"Good God!" Ray called as he rushed over and examined the new creature.

"I shall name this species... Flareon!"

"his name is still Infantry..."

"Fine, whatever, but the species itself shall be named Flareon."

Almost in agreement with Ray's name for the new species, the Creature breathed out a hot shower of sparks, it's body glowing a deep red.

Surge stared down at his partner's new form.

"Well, guess he's a fire type now..."

While Keaton was getting to know his partners, he couldn't help but notice that the Lieutenant sent out a creature of his own, which was engulfed into a small whirlwind of light upon the creature touching the stone. Some of the others before then were learning more about their creatures. All during the previous acts, he had learned that his preferred partner, Axis (Baltoy), was some sort of earth embodiment. Or so he figured, with the dust below its body slowly turning. Sheriff (Vulpix), however, simply sat on its rear, spewing small embers onto the ground. Once he saw the Lieutenant's creature change, he thought to himself that maybe his creatures would have a reaction.
"Heh. That'd be neat if you of you reacted to that. Maybe you, Axis?" He asked, the creature paying no mind to him. "Or you, Sheriff?" he asked her. who looked over, glanced, and put her head back down. "Well, you nap up, Sheriff. I'm going to see if Axis can find something to do," he said, intending to find a foe to face.

Lars approached Clemont slowly, not wanting to startle it or interrupt. When he was fairly close, Abra started to reach out again. Lars quickly pulled his arms back before it made contact with Clemont.

"Sorry, but we can't disturb him," he whispered to the Abra. "Oak's orders."

The Abra gazed up at him with its closed eyes. Suddenly, its usual calm face took on an expression of concentration. Lars stepped back in shock; he could feel something probing at his mind, though it didn't seem to be looking for him particularly. It was hard to explain, almost like he was just catching the extra bits of whatever was being sent out. It filled his mind with an urge, an urge to communicate with Clemont.

"Aagh, what is this?!" he cried out, holding his head. Sleepy still had the same look of concentration, directing it at Clemont now. "A-are you... trying to communicate with him?!"

"It has telepathy...!" he thought. "At least... to some extent. I can't make out any words... just... urges..."

After the thunder storm incident Clint casually walked back over to his partners and lit up a cigarette, he just realized he hadn't smoked all day and was in dire need. His Tyrogue seemed a bit shaken up from all of the lightning, but didn't seem to be worrying all too much, while his Onix seemed to enjoy the incident and was completely unfazed. While Clint was thinking about the realization he had just made he overheard Logan talking to his little turtle about types. "So dat's it my main man big pimpin' here must be an electric type!" Clint smirked while taking another drag of his cigarette, then turned around to witness the lieutenant's small fox like creature transform into a larger creature. "So dat's it, that's why everybody has all these little guys, cause if we give 'em all these stones then they gonna become big guys." Clint looked back to his Onix and began patting it's large body while finishing up his smoke. The Onix cooed in agreement and gently laid on the grass, then quickly flung it's head up knocking Clint to the ground. Clint fell back and realized something was up. He whipped his head around just in time to see his Tyrogue rushing over to Oak's Clemont and Lars, eager for revenge from the attack earlier.

"Damn it, not again!" Clint let out as he chased after the small Tyrogue.

Enyo looked down to the spheres she was still holding in her hands. The girl didn’t release her GAOs when she first received them because she had a bad feeling towards whatever was closed inside the balls. Now however Oak ordered them to meet the creatures, so she had no option but to go against her instinct.

“Let’s start with this bat thing” she thought as she pushed the button on the sphere marked as “Zubat”.

tumblr_mak29il38M1rh0naxo1_500_zps708c88

Disappointment took over her when she laid eyes upon the blue bat. It was a small, frail looking thing, totally blind as it didn’t seem to have eyes. The creature flapped around in the air, looking as hopeless as a newborn baby. The Greyjoy clicked the ball’s button once more with disgust, putting the bat in his cage without a word.

The “Totodile” creature was next. The “toto” part was rather silly, but the “dile” hinted something similar to a crocodile. Hoping for an improvement over the previous GAO, Enyo released the second one.

dile_zpsec96eb13.png

This creature was blue as well, but much stronger looking. It resembled a crocodile or an alligator, but with blue light scutes and bright red spikes down his spine. The chest was yellow, just like the eyes, which had narrow vertical pupils. Both fangs and claws were sharp, giving the creature a ferocious appearance despite being only slightly over 2 feet long. As she began to pay attention to the GAO’s behavior, she noticed that something was wrong. He stood on his four legs, tail straight and muscles tense in anticipation, staring into his handler’s eyes. Enyo stared back, and the creature’s lips moved backwards, exposing the point-sharp teeth. They both kept their ground for long moments, in a silent battle. When the crocodile took a step forward she knew it was the beginning of an attack, and the beast’s fangs were inches away from her right leg when the sphere sucked the GAO back inside. Once again her instinct had been right: the creatures inside the balls were indeed bad news.

Just as Enyo tucked the spheres in her pocket a commotion brewed near the tree line, and several soldiers entered the forest. A few seconds went by until an awfully loud sound cracked the silence, and the wolf GAO returned looking wounded. Enyo was watching the buzz around the wolf creature, but a roar shifted her attention to the sky, where a golden tiger looking beast had appeared between the thunder clouds. Lightning bolted towards every direction, as the creature fled the scene. And just as he vanished so did the dark clouds, and the sky was clear once more.

“Wow.” That. That was real power. Even from that distance she could feel the saturated power caged inside that beast. So much different from any GAO she had come across thus far. That was what she was looking for. “I want that thing”.

She was brought back by Oak’s words, and listened to him talking to the group. She wasn’t eager for another round with her GAOs, so she sat by the tree line and observed the other cadets interacting with their creatures.

Clemont was alert of the approaching duo of Lars and Abra as they edged closer to him. He paid them no mind as they posed no threat to his task's completion. Then something penetrated his intricate web of Psychic energy that he had set up to scan the area, Irrevocably interfering with his task, and he could not allow this. As the interference spread through the web, a stream of thoughts began to flow to him from Lar's abra, but they were so scrambled, that not even Clemont, with an IQ far higher than any human ever born, was unable to decipher them. Lar's cries broke in, and finally Clemont dismissed this intrusion as a pest, and began to weave his psychic power to manipulate the earth's gravity in the area to crush the vermin...

Oak looked over and saw Lar's on his knees, clutching his head as if in pain, as Abra edged ever closer to clemont, Arm outstretched. He could see certain areas around the young man begining to ripple.

"Lars!!! Get away, Now!!!"

But it appeared as if Lar's couldn't hear him. the amount of psychic force in the area must have been interfering with sound.

"Lars, RUN!!"

Again the young man remained on his knees, apparently unable to hear oak. The Area of the ripples had now become a faint sphere of purple light. Energy began crackling a little inside. Oak could feel the beginning stages of gravity Compression from here, desperately, he called for Ray and Surge.

Virtue stirred from her sleep in Erick's arms, driven back to consciousness by some unseen factor.

She wiggled against Erick's hold, managing to slip out of his grasp and landing on the ground feet first. She seemed to be intent on doing something. Erick was puzzled by this.

"Where Are you going?"

Virtue pointed out a finger over to where Clemont was hovering in the air, his eyes ablaze in violet light, Lars was nearby, a sphere of violet energy encircling him. He heard Oak call Ray and Surge, and watched as Ray's creature Salem charged for Clemont, it's mouth opened wide and the Air darkening around it's gaping maw, and as Surge's partner, a strange fire dog, also charged for Clemont, it's body becoming cloaked in flame as it picked up speed.

Erick ran off towards the scene, Virtue doing a surprisingly good job of keeping up behind him. He reached Oak as Surge's and Ray's creatures were thrown away back towards their masters by an invisible wall of force. Oak called out to Clemont.

"Clemont, I order you to cease this immediatly!!"

Clemont realized when he heard as Oak ordered him to stop, that There was no true threat coming from Lars or Abra, but rather another place. at this realization he began to retract his power in order to fullfill the order, however... He couldn't, some force far greater than his was preventing him, locking his power into it's current use. Using his advance intellect, he immediately began trying to zero in on what it was, but came up empty, the force elluding him each time he got close to discovering it's identity. With that search failed, he began looking for a way to overide his abilities. He and Oak had trained specifally for that option, but when he tried to fall back upon them, he discovered that they were all blocked by the same mysterious force.

Left with no choice, he sent out a telepathic message to the professor, and the force closed in on him at that, and it was all he could do to translate his message of raw thought into English and make sure it got to Oak:

Oak! I can not stop. Some unknown force has seized control of my power, the only way to stop me is to relieve me of consciousness, and even then, there is no absolute guarantee this will stop!

"What!?" Exclaimed Oak as Clemont's message finally managed to slip through to him. He saw Erick approaching and heard the flap of wings behind him. He turned to see his Noctowl land and begin eyeing Clemont as the sphere around Lars started tightening. in that instant he had an idea. He called out to Erick as he got closer.

"Erick, have her use Hypnosis to bring clemont into a sleep, it's the only way to save Lars and Abra!"

Erick looked back at Virtue

"You hear that? Can you do something like it?"

the two reached the scene and Virtue stood for a few seconds, seeming to ponder. Finally she nodded her head.

"Alright then, Virtue, Hit Clemont with a hypnosis!!"

Her Eye's glowed as she obeyed Erick's order, but she was meeting a lot of resistance, as the Ralts soon sank to her knees, fighting hard to send through the hypnotic suggestion.

Oak watched as Genisa, Virtue, Struggled on her knees.

"Damn, should've known her attack wouldn't be enough to do it..."

He looked to Noctowl

"Literacy, assist Virtue and use Hypnosis on Clemont!"

Literacy obeyed perfectly, tilting it's head as it's eyes took on a deep red hue, it too met resistance, but less, and Virtue was able to stand back up thanks to the new support. Salem and Surge's Flareon were back on the offensive, each of them spitting out a hot stream of fire at clemont, but neither one's attack making it to the target without being blocked by a barrier.

Clemont could feel as the Hypnosis attack began to press against the field of his energy, weak at first, then growing in strength as Literacy joined in Virtue's attack. Still, it was not enough to stop him. Struggling to prvent losing full control to the unknown interference, he came to one conclusion:

He used Hypnosis on himself, dulling his senses to the point where Virtue's and Literacy's combined hypnotic suggestions could break through the field and take effect. The wind whistling as he fell filled his ears, then the sensation of impact with the ground, and he finally lost consciousness.

Oak ran over to Lars as soon as the Sphere around him vanished and Clemont fell to the earth unconscious, He knelt beside the young man and yelled into his ear, trying to bring him back to reality. he could see Clint chasing after his tyrogue in his peripheral vision.

"Lars, Speak to me! Are you Alright!!?"

As Clint was chasing his Tyrogue up to the clearing he began to notice the events taking place, as he grew closer his Tyrogue came to a complete stop and refused to go any further. Clint continued running and approached the Tyrogue. "What's a matta Rocky? Things get a bit too real for ya?" He asked the Tyrogue, while kneeling beside it, but instead of a response the creature just continued to watch as Erick's partner put Clemont to sleep. Clint turned around to hear the great giant snake closing in behind them, apparently speed wasn't it's strong suit, then he looked down at Rocky and noticed a bead of sweat dripping from it's face, it was apparently very wary of all of the psychic energy ahead.

"Betta go see if they need help," Clint said as he began dashing forward. "You two comin' with?" He asked his two partners, first his Onix started moving in behind him, then after a few moments Rocky regained its courage and started warily moving forward.

As Clint approached the scene he noticed that Lars had fallen into some sort of comatose state. "Man, what the hell is goin' on aroun' here." He thought to himself as he closed in. Then he ran up to the group, his creatures close behind, and turned to the professor.

"Alright, pops what the hell is goin' on here, ya guys have just given' us our, what do ya call 'em GEOs? Then after we get attacked, a god damn thunder god appears, and Lars goes ahead and gets himself hurt, ya still haven't explained what the hell is goin' on here, so that's it. I'm tired of this, if someone don't start talkin', then I'm walkin'." Clint was yelling at this point, his face was a bit enraged, then he reached for his pocket and took out another cigarette, "Well, get to it pops."

Nathan turned to Clint, annoyance starting to boil over. He was already tense from the current situation. Thunder and lightning were one thing; however unnatural the source, you avoided it or dealt with it, and it was over with. However, creatures that could just crush things by . . . wanting it to happen? Nathan didn't understand that. He didn't like not understanding things; that's why he had planned to study physics after his stint in the Air Force. "Do you have any idea whatsoever of what's going on here?" he hissed at the loudmouth. "Any idea at all? This isn't a joke, this isn't a game, and this isn't a place where you get to just mouth off at your superiors." A man who didn't listen to orders at a time like this was dangerous to have around - and not for the enemy. "You know what you do in a situation like this? Sit down, shut up, and hope you don't get hit by a goddamn missile because you were too busy whining about Mission Control not giving you a running summary of everything that's happening around you."
