so, here's a legit question. Why was Mega Mawile Banned in gen 6 while mega Medicham wasn't? Megacham was about equally strong, had a more diverse movepool and was faster. With mega maw you knew what your opponent was going to use almost 100% of the time. Megacham... not so much

http://www.smogon.com/smog/issue44/ou-to-ubers Here's a Smogon article that explains the reason on the Gen 6 bans. For Mawile's case, it's great bulk combined with its ludicrous Attack basically guaranteed it was going to hurt. Medicham has poor bulk, Can't be safely switched into, Risky Stab, and a lot more counterplay for it to deal with (Faster mons, Ghost types, Talonflame, priority, did I mention Talonflame?).

@Wolfox Honestly, if 105 base attack stat with Huge Power, combined with a 125 Defense and a 95 Sp. Defense and with 9 resistances and 2 immunities (and ONLY 2 weaknesses) isn't OP, I honestly don't know what is.

Also, Mawile has a lot of good coverage moves. And the only way to counter it was special Fire attackers (let's be honest, there aren't any solid Special Ground attackers that I know of in high tiers). And it still has priority in Sucker Punch. So, it would deal a shitload of damage, even if the opponent was faster. Don't be blinded out of love for Fairies. Mega Mawile was rightfully banned.

Now, to the point...

@Wolfox @Jess @Azeria

Exactly. So, Mega Mawile with Huge Power has even more Attack than an imaginary 'mon with 210 base Attack would have. Dunno what person thought that this would be balanced...

Also, why on Earth would anyone hurt Mega Manectric, one of the few Megas given to an actual 'mon that needed it to become relevant?

Why hurt that when pointless OP (or useless) things were given to already popular 'mons for the sake of pleasing 10 year olds (like 2(!) Mega Mewtwos, 2(!) Mega Charizards and Mega Garchomp)?

Out of the 48 mega evolutions, 24 were needed.

Exactly 50% of megas were given to already powerful pokemon.

I just don't like Mega Manectric's design. It's just a thunderbolt. Original. When you compare it to the overly excessive and flambouant designs of the other megas, it kinda sucks.

I kinda like the Charizard megas (kinda stupid how it got 2) since Charizard sucked after Gen III, but I do agree with destroying the Ubers (and Garchomp for worst Mega in terms of design and lack of improvement for the 'mon)

@NickCrash Neat list....

Wait, I thought Gallade was better than Gardevoir until it got the fairy typing? And the megas brought both of them into relevance?

And as for Diancie, it had a great offensive typing but a largely defensive stat distribution. It it a bit OP now? Yes. But for a legendary, a mythic no less, it was an underused 'mon that was pushed into relevance because of it's mega.

I really liked Mega Manectric's design, a mane resembling a lightning sounded like a cool idea... But yes, liking designs is a subjective thing. My point was mostly that I see things that deserve to get smitten by the wrath of God before Mega Manectric. Mega Garchomp, for being utterly unnessecary (giving to a powerful 'mon), and 100% failure (makes Garchomp weaker!). Mega Mewtwos (no comment), Mega Gardevoir, Mega Scizor (yes, even that)...

I guess so. It's just that since Manectric is based of of the thunder beast Raiju, it would of been cool if it had sharp claws or just look beast like in it's mega. Its just kinda underwhelming.

Also, why do people seem to think Gardevoir is so OP? It's a decent 'mon and it's mega is definitely one of the better megas, but I really don't understand. Is it just cuz it's a fan favourite?

It's too overhyped... And seeing almost EVERYONE having one in their Reborn teams (hello originality), made me dislike it. It's nice overall, nice design, moveset, typing, stats... But come on, calm down everyone, it's not as great as you all think.

So, I 100% agree with you.

here's how we fix the Mega Charizard Situation. we let it keep Y because it's the most like regular Charizard and we give X to Drudigon. Why Drudigon? Because it's a dragon that needs a buff and kinda looks like mega zard X. no clue what to do with mega Mewtwo tho...

You know that before Gardevoir got a fairy typing it was sitting in NU right? and that even after it raised to UU with it's mega being the one in OU. Not saying Gardevoir is a weak mon (cuz it's not. if you ask me it's better than Alakazam by a long shot), but I am saying that had it not been for the Mega it would not be anywhere near as popular. and for Diancie, it's one of the weakest mythicals we've gotten in terms of stat distribution and typing. a defensive mon that dies when a steel type (nice and popular since gen 6 might I add). it sat in RU without it's Mega iirc. so I would argue that Diancie also got something it needed

I kinda like the different twist to Garchomp that Mega Garchomp is, focusing moreso on it's wallbreaking capabilities, just can't stand the design if I'm being honest.

Now, Mega Charizard X? Sorry but this guy is absolutely my aesthetic. Call me an edgelord, I know it to be true, but fucking hell it looks dope.

Super unnecessary tho.

In order my favourite megas(XY) would be: Mawile > Gardevoir > Absol > Gengar > Mega Charizard X
