"We just need to breach their armor huh? Well, it'd be a shame if someone were to just steal it from them! Heh heh heh." Azurian plots to himself, going to the next mook that's furthest away and attempts to steel it's helmet right off of it!

"Damn, that spear really does feel like a drake sting." Aelius said while checking his wound.  "Hey umm... Aron I guess. We need to find the others because these things don't look  to be stopping any time soon."

Uses "Combat Medicine" on himself restoring 1d2+[Syn]/2, and begins trying to disengage.

Shanks-Many-Men 9/9; 2 Omen Counters; +2DR=7DR Total

A high pitched, raspy chuckle came from the vent. Yes, yes, just as he had hoped, they seemed too big to follow him through- excellent... and even better, it seemed that their armor was strong, but not impregnable. All he needed was one more step, maybe two, and then he could begin the terror...

and so he took another step into the ventilation shaft, keeping his eyes on the machines as they clamoured outside. His chuckling continued all the while...

Shanks makes one more Ominous Advance, bringing his Omen Counter Total up to 3 and gaining +1DR

The Masked Figure jumps down, sliding down the slant of the cliff face, leaving Keith behind as he goes to try and help his friends.

--

A masked figure suddenly slides down, a flurry of blades rending the remaining False Aelius to shreds, it's Low Health caving easily to the strange figure's Spiked Sword.

"There is little time to explain, we must get your friends and regroup away from here!"  He says in a vaguely Spanish accent.

False Cobalt uses Harden, raising it's Defense!

The real Cobalt uses Metal Slash, attacking his clone, and dealing no damage (1d100=33).

False Cobalt 2, 3, and 4 have melded together into a mass of shadowbugs! Metal Plates begin to poke from the shadowy surface...

Aelius uses Combat Medicine on themselves, restoring (1d2+2) 4 Health!

--

(Skill v Skill) (6d6 = 6!, 4, 4, 6!, 5, 3, 5, 3, (6 Hits)) (1d6 = 1 (0 Hits))

Azurian steals the Cataguard Helm!

This is his final turn of Stealth!  The heavy helm causes him to fall flat on his rear as he yanks it free of it's owner.

Spoiler

Name: Cataguard Helm
Description: A gargantuan helmet, made of extremely thick metal
Type: Worn
Modifiers: +6 DR, -7 Health
Special Qualities:
Giant Bucket Helmet: This item is the equivalent of wearing a giant heavy bell over one's head. Not only this, it is large enough to go down to an ordinary human's waist in the process...  -1 Skill.

Underneath the helmet, A glowing Siren Light blares warnings about it's current status!

Shanks advances closer... Closer... Closer......

The Cataguard are panicked and confused!

One of them has the bright idea to fire into the ventilation shaft, dealing (1d6+3=6+3=9) 1 Damage...

Shanks-Many-Men 8/9; 3 Omen Counters; +3DR=8DR Total

it was the moment of Truth. With a sufficient amount of horror in the air, Shanks readied his knife and lit his lantern, casting his face in it's ghastly glow. Even as one of the automatons got wise and fired at him, he kept walking forward, tanking the hit like an absolute champ, shuffling, shuffling, ever closer.

And then finally... he struck. Just he had to so many adventurers on Gaea. One knife, one Tonberry, one lantern, and a boat load of death. He saw that somehow, one of them had lost it's helmet...

"kekekekekekeke...." he laughed once more in glee. He knew a sitting duck when he saw one...but it could wait for later, he had bigger fish to fry. knife beginning to glow black he lashed out from the cover of the vent at one of the panicking robots

Shanks uses Omen Slash on Autolance 4, sacrificing [1] Omen Counter in the process

Spoiler

Omen Slash
Level 1: The user expends a number of their current Omen Counters, and then deals a attack with their weapon, with an additional Xd2 pure damage added on (Where X=the number of Omen Counters sacrificed)

Chef's Knife Damage= 1d4+Str((3))+2

Omen Counters sacrificed=1=1d2 pure damage added

"Oh, so that's what it looks like without it's helmet." Azruian thought to himself before drawing out his dagger of iron. He never liked it, it always seemed to under preform when compared to the ones he makes himself. Though, he probably should've made more than 1 of them. Oh well.

Cobalt prepares to retreat when it's time.  One Ditto is easy enough, but he's not confident in his ability to wait out the limited endurance of this many ditto at once.

Meanwhile in real life. Gnarls has just about had it with this trip and the mysterious entity who brought him there. The canyon had very little to do with B-Ball, and now he can see some weird sandstorm thing on the cliff's summit.

Realizing that he had absolutely no other leads he proceeded to walk up to the cliff face and Try to get a headstart on climbing up by using his B-Ball Athletics prowess to jump as close as possible to the summit before climbing the rest of the way up.

Uses "Fury of Sky" on a minic of himself(or another if that isn't possible) dealing 1d2+4 damage total and triggering an opposed Syn check, if Aelius wins the target is stunned.

Keith goes on Overwatch, preparing to shoot anything that dares make itself a target for him.

False Cobalt is thrown into the canyon below by the strange masked figure, after his sword is blocked by it's near impenetrable armor.

Cobalt is prepared to get the hell out of dodge.

The Shadowbug Mass has transformed into Lairon! The hulking beast roars out.

Aelius uses Fury of Sky, dealing 0 damage (Syn V Syn) (4, 2, 2, (1 Hit)) (6!, 2, 6! 6! 6! 4, 4, (6 Hits)) as the Lairon is neither moved or even scuffed by the powerful attack!

"We need to leave now!" the masked figure comments.

"There will only be more of them, the longer we stay here!"

--

Azurian Equips his Iron Knife.

Shanks, Meanwhile, uses Omen Slash, Cleaving one of the Cataguard in two, they fall apart into shattered parts and clean cut armor.

One Cataguard begins running away, the other one, the one missing it's armor, begins to spin frantically!

Dumb Robots, Whoever made these needs to go back to robotology school.

Gnarls sees a strange metal animal fall down as he climbs up. Poor thing.

Shanks 8/9hp; 2 Omen Counters; +2DR=7DR total

"KEKEKEKEKEHEHEHEHEHEHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!" Shanks screeched in utter glee as he finally leapt out from the duct system as the Cataguard fell and it's allies panicked. Yes, yeeeeeeeeeeeees, perfeeeeect, just like his hunts back home. First you weird them out, then you scare them a little, and when they finally realize the danger they're actually in and are too busy running to fight back- THAT is when you go in for the true kill!

And a kill he would have, against this final robot. His knife beginning to glow with a sanguine Aura, he lashed out in one final, merciless stroke at the thing's exposed warning light and internal components, leaving a red arc cutting through the air as he did so...

Shanks Activates Bloodfeast, Then attacks the final Cataguard with the Chef's Knife!

Spoiler

Azurian felt kinda bad for the poor knight. It seemed so helpless and scared without its Helmet. Azurian shrugged and decided to leave it failing about. He isn't going to destroy something that sad, though he also isn't going to give his helmet back. But I guess he could try to help him in some way. Maybe if he could find his magical core he could take it and use it in the future. Now if he could only find it...

Attempt to find and Steal the Cataguard's Core.

While jumping up to the pit, Gnarls quickly tried to capture the falling metallic thing, to examine for a moment, and after obtaining a firm grip on the cliff face he examined it a bit further for a few moments.

To him it looked exactly like something out of a Vid Con, and for a moment he considered the surprisingly likely possiblity that he is in fact in some sort of ultra immersive vid con, like a highly experimental Virtual Reality thing that works off of easily exploitable narrative conventions, but he quickly decided that was a ridiculous idea and that it was probably just some tricky dick who decided to throw away a perfectly good real vidcon character that they made using weird science for some odd reason.

He carried it with him as he used his basketball granted powers to ascend up the cliff once more, and upon sighting the battle he just smiled and flexed his muscles at the energetic looking town guard while shouting "SLAM WITH THE BEST OR JAM WITH THE REST!".

Gnarls Barkley uses his Right arm and hand to use Power Up on Aelius, and uses his left arm to keep a firm grip on the abused Vidcon character.

Elica and Cim were walking on top of the cliff, trying to find someone. turns out they didn't have to look long.
Cim was the first to speak up. spotting the shadow bugs and combat at the rocks first.
"Mam, there are unknown individuals engaged in combat up ahead. I seem to be picking up some form of magic energy from the insects there fighting. Should we assist?"
Elica rolled her eyes, of course this would happen before they even got a chance to find out why they where here. the tentacle that took the place of her right arm coiled around her waist, its deadly spikes hidden within.
"Can you shoot them from here?"
"Yes mam." Well he sounded confident at least.
"Fine then. Open fire."

Cim extend his arm and opened his hand, palm forward, gathering his energy before firing a bolt of kinetic force at some shadow bugs on the rocks, making slight adjustments to the shots direction as it traveled.

Other people don't seem to be retreating.  Cobalt might not be very confident in his ability to fight a Lairon, but he absolutely refuses to be anyone but the last person out, and he knows he can take a hit better than any of these humans, especially from another of his species.  So he uses Harden again, positions himself between the Lairon duplicate and the other people, and digs his stubby legs in.

Aelius makes a final swipe with his spear before fully disengaging and making his way toward the higher ground where that force bolt came from.

Uses "Weapon attack" on the false Larion dealing 1d2+3 damage, then attempts to exit combat.

Entering the Hole, Keith finds the armory, what is this shit? It's all just medieval weapons and artillery too big for personnel use!

Strange purple bugs weave into and around cracks, glowing ominously.  You have the strange feeling that firing your gun in a room full of high explosives is not something to do lightly.

--

(Skill) (1d6=5, (1 Hit)) (1 Needed) Cim manages to shoot at some shadowbugs, despite the sandstorm and distance involved, the force bolt helps stave off even more of them hampering the group below.

--

(Strength) (1, 2, 1, 2, (0 Hits)) (1 Needed) (Skill) (6!, 3, 5, 4, (3 Hits)) (2 Needed)

Gnarles is unable to hold the heavy monster, it slips from his grasp, and throws him off balance, however, he is thankfully able to grab onto the cliff and finish climbing up, He is placed at the bottom of the initiative ladder

Aron uses Harden again, becoming more durable!

Lairon Picks up massive boulders, throwing them Cobalt's Way, and dealing (1d4+9=13) 4 Damage!  Cobalt is Badly smashed by the boulders crashing down, but manages to weather the storm.

(1d100=89) Cobalt Flinches! But it has no effect.

Aelius Lashes out with his spear, dealing 2 Damage from Scale Breaker's Effect!

Gnarls uses Power up on Aelius, increasing his damage by 1 for the next attack he makes!

Aelius attempts to escape battle! (Skill) (2d6 = 5, 1, (1 Hit)) (1 Needed) And Succeeds!

--

(Skill) (4d6 = 6!, 6!, 1, 1, 3, 6!, 2, (3 Hits)) (3 Needed)

Azurian tries to find the Robot's Core, and sees something his gut tells him is it!

(Skill v Skill) (6d6 = 5, 5, 6!, 2, 1, 6!, 1, 5, (5 Hits!)) (1d6 = 6!, 3, (1 Hit))

After that, it's child's play to just snatch it out!  The Machine falls dead before Shanks can even waste an Omen Slash on it...

The tonberry scoffed as the machine fell dead. The glow around his blade fading, he shifted himself in the air, hitting the disabled machine with his feet and rebounding off into a backflip. He landed just in front of the vent, amber eyes glaring at Azurian with such intensity it was as if he stared into the rogue's very soul. Knife glinting with fire light, lamp swinging, he was clearly sizing up the man...

that was when something in the vents caught his eye. A brief reflection, a glimmer in the darkened confines. Hmmmm... maybe that Lance one of the automatons had fired at him could prove useful later...

Bringing his knife up to his non-existant neck and drawing it in a mock motion, easily recognizable as an intended threat of some sort, the tiny green lizard men crawled back into the vents to grab the lance he'd been assaulted with earlier... leaving Azurian there alone with the robot corpse in the meantime.

Shanks retrieves 1 Cataguard Lance

Spoiler

Name: Cataguard Lance

Description: A Lance intended to be fired like a projectile, it is fairly lightweight and dull, but when thrown, it really shines.

Type: Held

Damage: 1d2+Str

Modifiers: None

Special Qualities: This weapon deals 1d6 damage instead of 1d2 when thrown, and uses Skill instead of Strength.

Azurian stared unamused at the green gremlin. Is that how people of this world express their gratitude, with threats? Furthermore the creature decided to go back into the vents for some reason. Maybe the threat was just a way to assert his dominance over him or something. Either way he decided to shrug it off, not like he'll be seeing anymore of him in the future right? He took the core he salvaged and put it into his pocket and looked at the remains of around all over the place. He'll need to get some more parts in order to make use of the core he saved, so he started looting the remains for anything salvageable or looks usable for his reconstruction.

Search the defeated robots for anything useful.

(Syn+Skill) (4d6 = 3, 5, 6!, 5, 1, 6!, 1, (4 Hits)) (3 Needed)

Reaching in with his bare hands, Keith somehow manages to scoop shadowbugs into an empty Artillery Shell, sealing them inside.

--

Shanks gets what Shanks Wants. He easily retrieves the lance.

--

Azurian finds (8, 5) Two Busted Catapillar Tracks, and a pile of Busted Tech.  They look beat up, but maybe they still work?
