  1. News Update! The Ducklett hatched! I decided to try my hand at Wonder Trade in order to get a fighting type. However, it has been... uncooperative... Luckily, I did get something really cool! Would anyone like a shiny Clamperl for a fighting type that is not a Torchic, Pancham, Mankey, or Makuhita? You will be the one who also decides the nickname. If so, let me know down below!
  2. Chapter 11: Ren Cockblocks Temere After a disappointing battle with Keta's spirit, we continued our quest to Akuwa in order to fix the Snag Machine. Along the way, we ran into Amanda, who seemed depressed about Melia's and Jenner's disappearance. She felt even worse for Jan, who was stuck with all of the paperwork. Despite this, she still felt well enough to challenge us to a battle. After beating Amanda, we ran into some guy named Rorim B. I would post what happened, but I feel as if Rorim B as a character is inconsequential. He contributes nothing, and demonstrates something else I think is a shame. You remember those cool Shadow Pokemon? It was a fun and interesting gimmick, right? Well, you are now only able to catch two left: Rorim B's Vivillon (which isn't accessible until later), and a Jumpluff Zetta has. While Shadow Pokemon are cool, there are barely any to catch. In fact, there are only seven total in the entire game (excluding Shadow Beldum, which I like to consider more of an event), so I must ask: why even bother? They clearly were not important enough to the plot, so why make it a thing? Yes, you see more Shadow Pokemon (like Rorim B's Sudowoodo in this fight), but you aren't allowed to catch any of them. It's a missed opportunity, and I can only hope they are brought back for V10. Either way, we then ran into Aelita, who was about to enter Goldenleaf. However, before we did that, she wanted to test her abilities as a trainer. It was time to battle! Finally, after we had our battle, we were ready to head out to Goldenleaf Town! However, as Aelita was entering... ...just look... Cool! I'm heading in for a gym battle, anyway! How can I- ...wait, what are you- OH YOU MOTHERFUCKER! Ren's motivation here is laughable, and one person later in this version are not afraid to say it. Apparently, he is doing this for Melia in order to get stronger, but this whole motivation is going to lead into another plot point later on that I would prefer not to discuss at this point. Either way, we need to find Venam. Who do we catch? Box? Name? Let me know down below!
  3. You know, as I look at this, I realize starting in August, I, too, will be without my laptop. If you can take me off the list, I would appreciate it.
  4. A ROCK TYPE RUN WOULD BE AMAZING! Having said that, I have yet to see anyone do an Egglocke. That would be fun to contribute to...
  5. Chapter 5: Clubber Lang Predicts Pain After we took care of that nasty Tangrowth, we moved on to the Grass type gym. We were going to give Florinia the thrashing of her life, but Fern decided to be a jerk and block out our path once more. We fought our way through the school, until we finally reached Fern. Here is how the battle went: After dispatching Fern, we went into Florinia's chamber! As we entered, we saw that it was a sand field. Since the battle would be a 4v6, I didn't want to take any chances. Because of that, I devised a plan that would put Florinia down for good. Here is what happened: With enough preparation, brawn triumphed over brain! Our egg will be hatching soon! Since it will only be a Ducklett, should we trade it away on Wonder Trade for a Fighting Type? The next one we can get doesn't arrive until after Shelly. Regardless, next time, we will investigate the strange happenings in the Jasper Ward! Current Team
  6. Your series is certainly quite interesting. I like how in depth you look into every element of the game, including potential plot holes. However, while I think the Crescent/Melia/Ren scene is bad, I still think it's a huge improvement on the scene from V8 and below. All that happens is that Venam makes some comment about how "easy" the rift was, despite the fact that she is afraid of spiders. Zetta acts like a stereotypical boring villain (like Sirius from Reborn), Crescent shows up, says something forgettable, and then Venam acts as if nothing even happened. Ren then says a really angsty line in "Sometimes, I wonder who the real person is: Venam, or Veronica" (not sure I quoted that correctly, but even so, THE ANGST). At least with the new update, there is actually some sort of character and emotion here. It's a bad cutscene, but it's still miles better than what we got before. Still, an awesome play through, and it's nice to see Samurott get some action.
  7. Geodude is that Pokemon for me. Despite its horrid typing and speed, I found its power and Sturdy ability to be quite excellent. The fact it learns moves such as Earthquake and Heavy Slam (for those fairy types) is quite good, and it is a decent physical wall, as well.
  8. Chapter 4: Wrath of the Tankgrowth After healing up our Mons, we were ready to assist Florinia. First, however, we were required to find Amaria, one of the higher ranking members of the Reborn league. She was trying to save an Oshawott from poisoned waters, but fortunately, Cain was able to save it with his Grimer. This caused Oshawott to want to follow Cain, giving him diversity to his team. Armed with a new member, we were asked a favor: Of course, Goldmill isn't going to take no for an answer, so it's time to fight! Afterwards, Amaria and I traveled upward to see what was the cause for all of the vines. We found someone named ZEL, a person with three personalities in one body. They were the ones responsible for the PULSE Tangrowth. In order to show it's power, Zero sent the Tangrowth to attack us... We will be training for a bit, as Rousey (Mankey) and Grubba (Makuhita) really need it. I found out that the egg I have is a Ducklett egg. Should I wonder trade it, or should I just box the Ducklett? Next time, we take the fight to Florinia! Current Team
  9. Chapter 10: Ode to a Bad Gym Leader We finished up our last part with beating the Shadow Volcanion. Aelita and the Sensei wanted us to follow them to a place where Shadow Pokemon could be purified... ...but why do that when we have more side missions? We decided to challenge Novae from the Alola region once more in order to gain some free experience, and trust me, the battle was extremely easy. Having Fenrir (Lycanroc) made the fight really easy. We ended up picking up our reward afterwards: We then were on our way back out, but were stopped by Keta's, who challenged us to a battle. We swapped our newest member out for Normal_One (Hariyama) and went down to the secret Grotto, where Keta was looking to fight us one last time. This is one thing Rejuvenation does WAY better than Reborn: it doesn't give you nonsense about "lol your badge is invalidated". Once you earn a badge, you earn it, no exceptions. Anyway, onto the fight: Now that we have won, we will be looking for Saki in Goldenleaf- ...I guess I should explain this, huh? After Keta moved on, his soul manifested in this statue. What does this mean? Good question, because it's never brought up again. Yes, we get a mention of the Soul Stone, but I would have loved to see this point explained in further detail for V9. Oh, well, perhaps we will see some more in V10... ...anyway, next time, our quest to Goldenleaf begins! Who do we catch? Box? Name? It's up to you! Team Recap
  10. Swoobat is probably the best for the early game, as long as you have Simple on it. Also, if you get a sturdy mon, that can work wonders. I personally like Golem the best for that, because it not only gets Sturdy, but also Stealth Rock.
  11. Chapter 3: Goldmill goes Recruiting After we managed to pull through Julia's gym, we went onward to Florinia's. Before we could get there, however, we were stopped by a gate keeper. Honestly, that seems fine by me. In a place like Reborn, you need to make sure you are in top condition. Besides, a trainer like that would have to have something interesting, like a Gible, or a Bagon, or maybe even a- After that little incident, we met up with Florinia. According to her, some vines were causing some damage to the city, and she wanted our help to solve the problem. Without hesitation, we went on to find the source of the problem... ...is what I would say if Victoria decided not to stop us. She thought we were "too weak", because apparently Artemis (Combusken) beating Julia by herself wasn't enough. With that in mind, we went to battle: Before we went on to the Slums, I noticed Artemis was getting pretty high leveled. I went to the candy store and bought 15 Common Candies. Afterwards, it was time to move on to the slums, where we found something awesome: We ended up finding another potential member, as well: a Scraggy! We followed it to the end of the Slums, but we ran into something unpleasant: Now, it was time to fight! Next, we will be moving onward to the PULSE Tangrowth! Let's hope it doesn't give us too hard of a time! Current Team
  12. Chapter 9: Blatantly Unfair After Keta went off into a mountain to stop team Xen, were we ready to answer the call to charge and fight along si- -oh, who am I kidding, of course not! It was time for another side quest! I wanted to get some training in before we left, so I accepted another mission. Apparently, some people were at a dock stealing goods. It wasn't too bad: Chime Chime (Chimecho) really saved our butts during the fight. Afterwards, we went into Caratos Mountain, a place of rich and vibrant wildlife, only to find that the place had been destroyed from the inside. We then ran into SEC, a very interesting robot to say the least. It seems to attack any intruders with Shadow Mons. On the way up, I snagged a Shadow Salandit (female) and Quagsire (female). Along the way up, we fought grunts, repelled SEC, and even got a cool new evolution: We finally made it to the top, but two kids invading a base of terrorists worked about as well as you'd expect. Fortunately, while Aelita was captured, we managed to find Keta! Aelita's team was really strong, so surely Keta could- Anyway, we finally got to Madelis, who: Oh, no... OH, NO... OH GOD, NO! Anyway, some of you may be wondering why there's this Quagsire following me around. Well, there's actually a way to cheese this fight: Eventually, after Keta sacrifices himself, we move on to the generator room and- We are now ready to move on to Keta's second fight! Who should we use? Catch? Name? Box? Let me know! Team Recap
  13. I'm not actually sure. Mine came from Goldenwood forest, but I'm not entirely sure. I think that would be a better question for Jan.
  14. Chapter 2: Artemis Eats Lightning and Craps Thunder Holy crap, was that terrifying! We just got through a big chunk of the beginning of the game, and all of it was extremely tense! We started off by looking for Julia at the abandoned lab, only to find this character: After Fern rage quit, we went back to Julia's gym, only to discover we went to the wrong power plant. We arrive there, and lo and behold, we have to team up with Fern... yay...? We discovered in the warehouse that these mooks from this organization named Team Meteor have taken over the place. Fern and I took them out, and along the way, Artemis ended up evolving! At this point, I was EXTREMELY worried, because I only found one common candy. I had to use it after I met this character. This guy was one of the higher-ups of Team Meteor: We beat his mooks, foil his plans, and move on to the electric gym. This part had me petrified, as the fight would be a 1v6, where I might over level in the middle of the fight. Luckily, I had a plan... Now that we have our badge, we can FINALLY catch other team members! Next time, we look for more backup for Artemis!
  15. Generally I would agree with you and fighting types, but I have always seen people use fighting types as a second typing. For example, when people identify Toxicroak, they usually associate it with a poison type instead of a fighting. The same applies to mons like Blaziken and Chesnaught. Also, fighting type moves are quite common, but they seem to be put on other mons for coverage. Brick Break is a huge example of this (at least in game). Thank you for the kind words, though! This is my first in game use of Blaziken, so we'll see how it goes!
  16. Chapter 10: The Sunset Sheridan Smackdown We finally made it to Sheridan village! As soon as we arrive, we meet two more characters: the eldest, who is the caretaker of the village sensei, and Aelita, a student of the Sensei. Aelita in my opinion is the second best opinion in Rejuvenation, right behind Venam. She is the first one to act in a situation, and always thinks of others before herself (generally, but we'll get there when we get there). She also goes through a lot of development in this game, but that discussion is for another day. Reborn could use more characters like her (as the closest comparisons I have to her at this moment are Shelly, who is extremely timid, and Charolette, who is extremely aggressive). We entered the Sensei's domain to find: Keta, the village Sensei! He gave us the task of finding a Soul Stone and bringing it to the place where Melia was eaten alive. Ready for the task at hand, we went ahead and... We ended up finding the Soul Stone and taking it to the site where Melia was killed. Strangely enough, no soul was absorbed into the stone. While this displeased Keta, he agreed to battle us and let me tell you, this fight was fun! You'd think that would be the end of it, but of course, the game does something Reborn is too guilty of doing, and decided "lol no badge yet". Therefore, next time, we will be entering Sheridan's secret cave! Who should we use? Catch? Name? Let me know! Team Recap
  17. Chapter 1: The Cambria Fight Club Joins Reborn This is something I wanted to do for a while. I feel as if fighting types as a whole are not as appreciated as many other types (water, ghost, dragon, fairy, psychic, dark, fire, etc.). However, despite this, fighting types are actually my third favorite type. Because of this, I wanted to dedicate a run to this awesome type. First, however, we need to name our character: Of course, our first order of business is going to be picking our starter. I had no idea who to pick, since there were actually a good size to choose from. Luckily for me, however, with your help, we were able to choose the first starter. After we got our starter, we went down stairs to find an interesting man waiting for us. His name was Cain, and he challenged us to a battle! Of course, we aren't going to deny his request! Cain then proceeded to take me to the healing station, where he let me heal my Pokemon. Victoria then returned from the starter room. As it turns out, she, too, is an aspiring fighting type trainer. Our eyes locked, and the battle began! After we won, we were given some Pokeballs and a Pokedex, and we were sent off on our journey. Next time, we will be investigating the power plant with Julia and Florinia!
  18. I'm going to be starting a monotype play through very soon. However, I need your help determining my starter, as I honestly have no idea who to choose. I will be starting a Fighting Type Mono Run (I just wanted to challenge myself), and want to know which starter would be best. Here are my experiences with each of them: Blaziken: I have used one only on my Explorers of Sky play through as my partner. She was really good with Mirror Move, but unlike in Mystery Dungeon, Mirror Move is trash Infernape: I have the least amount of experience with this one. I only used it a bit online in the UU tier for Showdown Emboar: I have a soft spot for this game, as I used him for my play through of White 2 Chesnaught: I LOVE CHESNAUGHT. I used him in Rejuvenation, but I am hesitant to try him again Who do you think I should choose? Also, should I use the Sandbox mod to get any other fighting types, such as Riolu?
  19. Chapter 9: Zetta's Really Bad Day At this point, we are on the tails of Melia, who was chased to Amethyst cave. While we were looking for her, we took a quick moment to appreciate the beautiful scenery: While we are there, however, we ran into some Meteor Xen grunts! We stole their Shadow Vanillite and Bonsly, who are now sitting in our box. We then learned some unfortunate news: Melia was killed off by a Galvantula. Needless to say, Zetta didn't seem too happy about it... We end up teaming up with Ren, and there isn't much to say here, except that Ren's Scraggy put in work. Unfortunately for us, however, he still had one trick left up his sleeve: We ended up escaping the Dimensional Rift, and to Zetta's dismay, Crescent came back to send Zetta to an alternate dimension. Now, in the original version, Crescent disappears, Venam leaves, and Ren makes this REALLY angsty comment, saying something along the lines of "I wonder who the real girl is, Venam, or Veronica..." I hated that line so much the first time I played it. It is angsty for angst's sake. However, in the new version, Jan replaced that with a pretty interesting conversation between our friends and Crescent, who proceeds to tell us this: Venam certainly wasn't happy to hear that, as she began to punch the wall repeatedly. This is what makes her a better character than Cain in my eyes. She has clear problems, and has to work to develop herself as a person, whereas Cain is set up to be the guy who can do no wrong, no matter what. We will be moving on to Sheridan next! Who should we catch? Box? Name? Should we use any of the Shadow Pokemon? Finally, who should be used for the Keta fight? Let me know! Team Recap
  20. Cool! Thank you so much! I've been trying to find a way to upload more images without having to delete them!
  21. This is a really cool run! How do you get so many images on a post without using up your attachments?
  22. I really like this run! It's nice to see a perspective from someone playing this version for the first time in a long time.
