  2. Visual upgrades to already existing sprites, you say? Would that include character sprites, by any chance? Idk why, but somehow it always made me feel a little weird that several of the sprites are modified versions of original Pokemon characters. (Corey/Koga the most) I've actually been planning to start playing Rejuvenation now that I caught up with Reborn; the visuals look really nice~ So congrats for getting chosen to work on Reborn! I don't cook very well, but I happen to have some leftover chocolate cake...?
  3. Well, it could be a possibility that the presence of Eve and Lumi has influnced the physical apearance; either biologically (this is the Pokemon world, I stopped questioning possibilities when Bill turned into a Clefairy) or in terms of gender presentation. From what I read on this thread, discussion-wise, people seemed to agree that an androgynous look was a good possible take on them, which I personally agre with. But my friend did ask about the body type because it's important to her for drawing the right shape. If there isn't a clear answer, would male with an androgynous gender presentation do it, then?
  4. Their versus sprite is an edited version of Grimsley's, so as of now I've p much told my friend that if I can't find out anyhing, they could work with that. Grimsley's not exactly the most masculine male either, so perhaps it's kinda like that with Zero. Though the full-body sprite honestly had me thinking of ZEL as biologically female for the whole game up until that point in Ametrine. I feel a bit shy about messaging anyone directly, since it's more of a, uh, frivolous matter, not a game problem or anything. [nervous noises]

    Help

Oh. Hmm. I know I got caught by one of the last guys quite often, but watching them for a bit helped. Are you walking or running? There's at least one cultist who I found really hard to pass even by running, it was kind of a thing where you have to start running in the fraction of a second when he turns around... Otherwise, have you checked if you are definitely going in the right direction? Maybe you're trying to pass where you're not supposed to?

    Help

You have to be really quick with your reactions at some points. I suggest figuring out how close you can step without getting noticed, and then waiting for a bit to watch how fast/where they turn/walk. Then you only have to get your timing right and run right past them. Sometimes it might take you a try or two if you go the wrong way. Make the most of your timing. Sprint as soon as the cultists have their back to you.
  7. I kind of want to start going by they/them pronouns, but on the other hand it feels really strange because German doesn't have this option.

There's no word for they/them in German?

Develop a second personality and you could easily start referring to yourself as "we" or "they". Like ZEL

@Eluria: Only for plural use. The word is "sie", like the female 3rd person singular, and for that reason it's impossible to use as an equivalent to they.

@Generalguy: Oh dear, considering I'm already in therapy for Borderline and Major depression, maybe I should try not to have DID added to the list. Or get in PULSE accidents. Especially not the latter.

  8. Overall, I likes Team Rocket the most, simply because they were basically just that: a criminal organization abusing/stealing Pokemon for what appeared to be mostly money and power. The concept worked out very well, and Giovanni is awesome. I like that their goals are so "simple" compared to what others teams have been trying to achieve, even though i do appreciate the evolution of storytelling in the games. Black/White and their sequels were nicely done, but just for the team itself, yeah, I'll say Rocket. Though Cyrus and Colress are my favourite antagonist characters.
  9. Hmm, so I hope this is the right place to ask, buuut I am going to commission a friend of mine for art soon, and one of the pieces I was gonna ask her to draw was ZEL with one of the Eeveelutions. Thought I'd look through here if there's any fanart of them to be found, since the game sprites are rather tiny for a ref, and I really shouldn't make an artist who never played the game try to figure out how the charries are supposed to look like. But the only piece I found, while friggin' cool (dat hairstyle!) is a headshot so it doesn't serve well as a ref. According to in-game info, they're supposedly stuck in Zero's body, so they would be biologically male? But the game sprite looks rather feminine IMO, so I'm not sure? And are there any refs or info at all on their clothes, since the sprites are a bit too small to show the details? If not, I was just gonna suggest to go for a plain black longsleeve instead of whatever they're wearing. (Changing clothes is a thing ok) Also, friend asks what body type/shape they should have. If there's any way to answer this, it'd be lovely~ In the meantime, lemme stare some more at everyone's amazing art <3 And mourn the fact that I still haven't figured out how to properly draw humans.

    PULSEs

Two would be overkill, yeah. When we had the Tangrowths, it made sense to have multiple ones, since they were each set up in a different ward. But for Agate alone, one should suffice. Spores/Powder would be a really interesting idea, especially since we had the Sleep/Rage powder theme on route 2. Though that should probably be visible somehow, at least if it's in huge quantities / around the area of the source? It'd be a pretty huge giveaway as to where the PULSE is standing, so probably not. Plus, if the game info is to be believed, it's ruled out anyway. Would've been cool, tho. If the Pokemon is hooked up to a PULSE tho, would you even really need another to amplify whatever signal/sound it is giving off? Or would that be included in "PULSE aplified power"?
  11. I'm generally very attached to my team pokemon, but Klinklang and Espeon are my darlings. Can't imagine my team without them any more, but luckily they kick ass in battle, so I won't have to.
  12. It's 'cause Krookodile's got SWAG, obviously.
  13. What a cute kitten <3 Please give it a cuddle from me~ In fact, why doesn't everyone tell their pets I said hi. I think I'll be stalking this thread. Let's add some more cats. One Two Three
  14. Well that's basically why I asked. I went into that gym and beat her with Dewott, Hoothoot and Meowth *helpless shrug* I expected to have more difficulties with her, seeing how I not only had no advantages, but also some huge disadvantages.
  15. Easiest gym for me has been Samson. Poor guy couldn't stand a chance against Tailwind-boosted Espeon, and I'd have had two Flying types for back-up, anyway. I've also beaten Serra, Radomus and Terra with relative ease, though not quite as much as Samson. (Terra kinda did dig her own grave by fighting on the glitch field. Psychic OP pls nerf.) Does Julia even count? Hardest for me overall was Shade because of his Rotom. And Florinia, because I was just so not prepared for her. Didn't train a fighting type and predictably got stuck on beating her Cradily.
  16. Dragon. Oh god I hate facing Dragon pokemon in battle. I trained Altaria and Noivern, but both are part Flying, which is one of my two favourite Types. I trained a Flygon because it happened to be a shiny. But... Naw, man. Dragon trainers are my biggest enemies because I don't usually train types that they are weak against. If I'm lucky, I have a water type on my team that knows one or two good Ice moves.
  17. I've known about Pokemon since Kindergarten, though I merely knew various Pokemon species and not much else. I remember I was super fond of Pidgeotto since birds were/are my favourite animals, and had some of the trading cards bc I liked the pictures. But that was about it. My first game was Blue; I have a sister who is seven years older than me and owned the game. When I was... six? she asked me, out of the blue, if I'd like to play, and introduced me to how it worked. She had already completed the game including the Pokedex, so all I really did was battle wild Pokemon, but it was still a lot of fun. I grew really attached to Farfetch'd and Flareon. Then uh, well... I did what annoying little siblings tend to do a lot: I ruined shit. I started a new save file, and understandable, sis was pissed. But she eventually decided to just gift the game to me (she'd since gotten Yellow), and so I started my own first Pokemon journey. My most treasured team member was a Dodrio called -so very originally- Dodo Dri. I remember how ecstasic I was when Gold and Silver got released (2001 here in Europe); a friend of mine got the game long before me, and I kept begging her to let me play a bit. She did, even though she had to keep reminding me not to leave her Typhlosion underlevelled - I was too focussed on Noctowl, haha. And oooh boy, Espeon and Umbreon! It took me AGES to figure out how to evolve Eevee into either of them! Most frustrating experience of my childhood. Not to mention I simply couldn't decide which one I liked more. I've kept up with each generation religiously since then, always buying the games as soon as they came out (well, here in Germany, anyway...), and still enjoy them to this day. Never took much of a look at fangames until this year though. That is, until my partner talked me into playing Reborn.
  18. Purely judged based on which one I like the most as a gym leader: I love Florinia so, so much. Her teacher/mentor role is great, and she's just an all around interesting person. And she sure makes a point of showing us how to set up a deadly mono team. I hope we're going to see more of her, because I'm pretty sure that way she'd easily become one of my favourites. Amaria is amazing, too. Overall my second -well, technically fourth- favourite character, gosh she's so lovely <'3 Can't judge her as a gym leader yet, but her Lapras' name, just brilliant. Amaria would be that kind of person I'd want to befriend; she's too good for the world, honestly. Honorable mention goes to Aya and Titania <3

    Cain

It's fine, I finished what's released of the game so far c: Just realized this is derailing the original topic, hnng. Apologies. Point still stands, though, I hope we won't see Cain die or worse I've grown rather attached to the pretty boy.

I don't quite understand what you mean by that? Sorry...

That really was interesting to listen to. Considering how new I am, I still have a LOT to learn about the backgrounds for some things, so thanks for linking those videos~ It certainly explains the character development and personalities for a lot of characters. (Though if I got that correctly from the second video, most of the Meteors are not based on actual people, but were made up? And damn, I adore those characters.) So does that mean the eventual fate of the characters is completely decided by what happened to the people they were based off, or are there going to be divergences? (For example, characters dying even though their real life counterparts did not?) I'm trying to wrap my mind around the line between how far Reborn re-tells their stories, and where it is purely a made-up story. (Besides the nature of being a Pokemon game.) And I feel strange talking about this, because it seems like such a sensitive topic. So if it's not something that's meant to be discussed, just tell me. I'm curious, but I don't want to mess with anyone's emotions.
  22. Eh, I went for the simple solution and reset for a female Eeevee so I could breed to eventually get all the evolutions. But if you're looking to add one permanently to your team, I'd second those who suggested Sylveon (or Vaporeon). Vaporeon is a bit at a disadvantage because of the lack of fitting TMs, so probably Sylveon. Maybe I either haven't been paying enough attention or got lucky, but there aren't many instances (yet) where the Steel weakness is gonna be a huge problem (and Delphox should be able to deal with that + Poison, anyway). Sp. Attack and Defense and the Dragon immunity are nothing to complain about. I personally have Espeon on my team, and oh boy has it proven useful, especially later in the game. It rules the Glitch Field. But seeing how you already have Delphox, I can see why you wouldn't want another Psychic type on your team, especially if it doesn't offer at least an additional type.

    Cain

Yeah; if you're someone who doesn't mind being reminded that it's just a game, then Terra is probably a wonderful character, but I'm someone who really likes to lose themselves in the world and story, and Terra just pulled me right out of that, which made me dislike her right away. As far as the execution of her concept goes, she's great, no doubt. Just not my cup of tea. Tbh I have made zero efforts to find out who they're supposed to be based off, for pretty much the reason I stated above. I'd start looking for more information about the real person so I could try to predict the development of the characters, and that might make things less enjoyable for me.

I get this feeling with pretty much every character to be honest .-. Like, we're getting all these bits and pieces of backstories than make them so relatable and sympathetic, and damn, the character development in Reborn really hits me every time, because it doesn't feel forced, it doesn't feel bad - it's good. It makes me want to pick every single character up and wrap them in a blanket. Maybe give them hot chocolate and some cookies. I love the characters of Reborn. But I know there's bound to be more death and misery, and thus I sit fearing for the future of my favourites. Then again, so far the execution of the story has been great, so I'll put my trust in Ame not to drift into "kill 'em all just 'cause I can" territory. Because few things disappoint me more than character deaths that basically just demonstrate to us that yes, the author can do it. Cain's one of my faves (though not in my Top 5). I really appreciate him for how often he brightens up things in the story. Unpopular opinion time, but I absolutely despise Terra. She's been annoying me since she first appeared, and is the one character in this game who janked me out of my immersion in the story and reminded me that I'm really just... playing a game. I get it that she's supposed to bring some more lighthearted entertainment into things, what with her "It's summer on /b/" attitude. But for me personally, it just didn't work. Cain, on the other hand, is a character who (IMO! I really don't wanna offend anyone who likes Terra, please don't hate me) fits very well into the story, and when he does/says something to lighten the mood, it does the trick. I'm glad when he shows up, and I'm glad how he managed to be both a funny character and avoid being comic relief. Cain is that guy who I'd describe as like a brother-best-friend to my player character. I'd miss him dearly, so I hope he'll stay with us.
