  1. Citrine mountain, just before shade's gym, is such a high-risk place to train. Like, even the level 27 chubchoo are fast enough to chip some Pokemon, and every once in a while you run into a simple CM woobat, or an over levelled Donphan, or a level 48 beartic...not the one in the basement btw, I mean a WILD level 48 ice bear.

On the upside, I've got two shiny Swinub already, and Close Combat Snubbul (my current project, going up to 37 for Play Rough to take on the Scraggy event) makes short work of the ice types.

  2. FINALLY...FUNDING....HAS RETURNED TO THE US GOVERNMENT!*

    *For now.

  3. As for starters, I'd like to put in my 2 cents on Chespin and Rowlet for being really solid early-game starters. Bulletproof on Chespin protects against pin missile, Florina's main coverage against enemy grass-types, and it can fire back against her with a field-boosted pin missile of its own. Unfortunately, it, like most grass starters, is totally useless for the third and fourth gyms. Rowlet, on the other hand, skipped out on Corey in my last run, but otherwise did AMAZING work in every battle they've participated in. Grass typing with STAB pluck means he avoids spore moves and hits back hard against the enemy grass-types who use them; and later on it learns Sucker Punch, which is incredible for Shade's gym. Klink, while not my favorite initially, does excellently early game, walling Corey's ace with next to no effort. It's Gear Grind attack is also boosted in the common Factory Field, and it even gets access to the incredible boosting move Gear Shift later on in the game. Going to have to absolutely agree with you on M.Espurr. You can get a Light Clay from mining early on with decent luck (and a lot of save-scumming), and from there you can have dual screens up all fight long. M-Meowstic was absolutely critical to my victory over Shelly in my last run, and it generally makes a mockery out of any double-battle it participates in.
  4. someone: "why is Meowstic running prankster dual screens?"

Me: "He likes to be tough"

  5. Thinking of breeding up a TSpikes Cofagrigus to serve as status and hazard spreader, as well as a physical tank with max defense EVs, Will-O-Wisp, and Hex. What other EVs would you recommend? HP for harder tanking? SpAtk for actually hitting back? For reference, I'm up to Shade now and the rest of my team consists of slow attackers (Ampharos, Decidueye, Camerupt) and a M-Meowstic with Prankster Dual Screens.
  6. Ah, ok. I had thought that faster=better overall. TBQH I'm quite happy about this, I don't play Zelda often but biggest Zelda is my favorite of the three.
  7. I thought the smaller Zeldas were better, why is big Zelda supposed to be good?
  8. Good News: I've beaten everything up to Shade. This is the farthest I've ever gotten.

Bad news: I may have locked myself out of the Bike forever. I'm not sure if the police officer is going to testify to my good character (to Ms. Craudberry after the gang theft) when I'm a wanted crook.

  9. Honestly I think mist is the weaker field. It means Venoshock and Venom Drench only activate after 1 turn, and the poison damage is less than the entry hazard damage of corrosive if you switch often. Also, if you're trying to exploit Corey's weaknesses rather than set up and sweep, you're going to be switching fairly often.
  10. A part of me wants to go try Pokemon Insurgence again, given all the cool Deltas and Megas, but then I remember that the first gym is a competitive sun team with drought Vulpix directly into Chlorophyll Ivysaur with sleep powder and solarbeam. Why would a first gym have a 120 bp move at level 25? I dunno.

Also it's an 8-gym game that ends around level 100 and most of the really cool Deltas are postgame.

      Starry Knight

I know, I still liked Oshawott though I would of thought Piplup would of been the best starter for him

What did you think of the flying mechanics in Insurgence?

    3. Wolfox

      Wolfox

the flying mechanic works well enough, the soaring is less my forte tbh

    4. Starry Knight

      Starry Knight

I had issues with it, my boyfriend had major issues with it though.

I liked how they did the TMs where there were alternate moves you could use to do them

  11. speaking of which, is there just no good database for Rejuv's custom moves?
  12. Had a double header today vs. Venam and Corey.

Venam I feel was a little under levelled, what with how easy it is to get exp in Normal mode. Other than that, I like seviper as a boss Mon. It's what the snake deserves.

Corey I've dueled many a time, and this was probably my easiest run ever. Does his corrosive mist version Crobat not carry Air Cutter anymore? I put clear body Klink in front of that thing and charged to +4 spdef before I realized it couldn't affect the gears at all. Other than that, Numel is amazing for this gym, and Pachirisu is falling off hard, so I'm glad that I'm already training Mareep to replace it.

  13. I love how early you can pick up ghost types in rejuvenation. I know Shuppet falls off HARD later on, but for now Knock Off, Shadow Sneak, WOW, and ghost in general is super fun to play around with. I also love how with the exp gains never make you feel like you're grinding. I've just gotten done with the last of the sidequests and half my team is level 20 with very little grinding during the team sections.

    1. Commander

      Commander

Yeah on Intense you can easily grind 18 mons to the cap and still have no issues so it really works out for rotation teams. I'm actually working on Misdreavus but it's not gonna be evolved until 55 when it learns Power Gem as that is such a hand move given there's like no good special rock moves.

    2. doombotmecha

      doombotmecha

actually, I think it's literally Power Gem and--

I just looked up Diamond Storm, Diance's signature move, and nope that's physical too. It's literally just P-Gem.

Even so, 55 sounds like a real chore. I admire your tenacity. That whole rigamarole of levelling up a low-BST base to some ridiculous level just so you can evolve it without losing moves is part of the reason I tend to avoid stone evolutions as a rule. That said, I am raising a Larvesta on my current reborn run, so I suppose I can't talk.

  14. just did the Munna event in Rejuvenation, and it came Barrier replacing the only attacking move. It doesn't learn another special attack until 37 LOL. I'm not mad at all, I'm pretty amused. There are more if I want them, but I'm good tbh. Munna just isn't my jam.

    1. Wolfox

      Wolfox

that's probably about as lucky as missing a 99 hit in FE

  15. I'd imagine it to be used in the confrontation with legit!Arceus, or perhaps as a champion theme.
  16. How in the world are you supposed to do the grubbin/joltik event in Peridot ward?

I've stumbled around in the dark for ages and found nothing!

There are small bits of light that let you see the Pokémon

Ok, I suppose I'll just have to up the brightness or something. Thank you!

  17. I kept getting deja Vu through all of Gearen City, but when I got to Route 1 it suddenly hit me--the early battle music was a remix of the D/P/Pt Trainer theme, and R1/Goldenwood was a remix of the Eterna Forest theme. Diamond was my first Pokemon game ages and ages ago, so I took that revelation like a nostalgia punch to the gut.

  18. I just realized you're naming your chapters after rwby themes. As a fellow rwby fan, I salute you.
  19. based on the new stuff I've seen from Ame's stream, I might actually try Rejuvenation again. I hope they shortened the intro though...

    1. Ice Cream Sand Witch

      Ice Cream Sand Witch

The intro is the same, but you have the option to skip it.

    2. doombotmecha

      doombotmecha

that's amazing. I skipped it, and the reworked cruise ship looks AMAZING compared to the old one. I'm to Gearen Sewers now and honestly? I love this.

  20. Changing up teams is all well and good, but honestly? If a game has Metagross in it, I will bend over backwards to get it and use it. It's appearance and Dex entry grabbed me the first time I saw it an emerald-era Pokedex book (it's a quad-core computer that's also a combining robot!), and thanks to it's solid typing, stats, and learnset, it's never a bad pickup. The problem, though, is actually getting it. Fangames don't exactly tend to hand out OU Mons for free.... In Reborn, my Ace in the early game is almost always Klink. I just love steel types, and while Klink may not have the most diverse movepool, but Stab Gear Grind and a little coverage are really all you ever need. Once Larvesta hatches in early 2019, it'll be the mascot of my current run, even if it's just gonna be a baby until after Serra. Edit: also I never use her because she isn't very good, but I love Absol because I'm a goddamn edgelord.
  21. I really wish Reborn City had a source of Pokesnax in the rain. I need 2 for events and suddenly I can't find a dry day to switch to.

  22. At the risk of literally counting my chickens before they hatch, it is highly likely that I got a Larvesta from the mystery egg. I'm so excited! It has actually not-awful stats for a pre-Corey mon, and it'll come online just a little while after Camerupt (my current fire-type) falls off. I've just gotta run for 30 years to hatch it lol

    1. Wolfox

      Wolfox

don't you mean counting your Larvesta before the eggs hatch?

  23. Happy New Year to all of you!

  24. I feel like you're underrating Chrom here. His lack of sweetspots not only makes him simpler but also significantly better in the air as opposed to his echo, Roy. In addition, he can do pre-nerf bowsercide with his up B--if he nails an up-B that sends both him and his foe off the bottom, and they're both on their last stock, Chrom will win. He may not be as good as others on this list, but he's definitely a tier above marth and Roy.
  25. Fern 2 in one take (His dartrix did get a few KOs tho), Florina in one take, damn I feel good. I might finally have a handle on this game!
