  1. The earliest I can remember them appearing is after Shelly, but I've never thought to check before her... namely because I always forget there are trainers in the Grand Hall. Derp. After going to check on my Grass mono though, yeah, I've only just beaten Corey and there are some trainers there.
  2. ...Level 41 before Shelly? You're in for a painful time. Being honest I'd at least wait until after Shelly if you want Brave Bird that badly, since the level cap is 40 then. Much more manageable, especially when working with something like Ducklett. You don't really need Brave Bird for her anyway, so I don't know what the rush is. The Unown are going to get you there quickest though, yes (disregarding the back and forth, but they're worth better experience). Watch out for the occasional Hidden Power Electric because you're dead if one hits you.
  3. The earliest obtainable ones are the Pachirisu/Panpour that are being bullied by those thugs on Opal Bridge. Both of them can learn Cut.
  4. TM19 Roost is currently unobtainable. Prior to E10, it was TM19 Telekinesis, which was found in the dark room in Blacksteam Factory. However, as of E11 (I think it was E11 anyway) the TM there is TM77 Psych Up. The only way to have Roost now is to have obtained it from an older episode. Detective Lost... is on the case~
  5. I'm back... until this thing inevitably crashes on me again because I have terrible luck with computers. OTL

  6. The dark isn't so scary when you have the moon to guide you... not that I was afraid of it in the first place.

    1. Maelstrom

The dark is the best camouflage.

    2. Felicity

  7. I prefer using the Astrae, since Unown don't fling stupidly overpowered Thrashes into my face at every opportunity. Route 2 would work if I weren't reasonably sure that the Crustle would be very much the same case, only with Rock Wrecker (not to mention Shell Smash and Sturdy). There is the odd super-effective Hidden Power to worry about, but even those usually don't hit as hard. Plus, the Unown give a mixture of Attack and Special Attack EVs, meaning you're likely to get at least some investment in your main choice of attacking stat. If I'm assuming you care about EVs in the first place.
  8. The only wild encounters I've seen that bother me are the ones in Iolia Valley: Pidove, Ducklett and Hoothoot. All sitting around level 50 and all rather absurd to have at their first stage at this point in the game, especially when they all appear in earlier locations. The aforementioned Victory Road thing may perhaps be why, but that's not something I would prefer to be carried over, especially considering we're above the level Pokemon in Victory Road tend to be at as of now. (I'm not including Hoppip or Petilil as they are obtainable otherwise only from events, never mind the fact that the latter evolves with a stone and it'd be kind of silly to have wild Lilligant running around anyway.) The Natu in the Astrae are a bit silly too, but they're excusable, as they haven't appeared at all prior. There's also the fact that it does on some very rare occasions go both ways- the fact that there are wild Sunflora running around in Obsidia Park does bother me a little. Granted you wouldn't have access to a Sun Stone at that point and I highly doubt anyone wants to be stuck with a Sunkern, so perhaps this way is better. As for the puzzles, I've quite enjoyed all of them (...minus maybe chess but at least I'm learning on that front?), including the Crustle one. Going to agree that it is kind of awkward figuring out where you can push them between the rocks, though.
  9. Inb4 Vega's STRENGTH PUZZLES ON ICE People have had varying amounts of difficulty with the Crustle puzzle- some people had trouble figuring it out, and others figured it out rather easily. The rocks are a bit harder to figure out if you don't know you're supposed to jump across them (which is perfectly feasible if you have not played X or Y, like me) but really, it is more tedious than it is difficult. Although I quite enjoyed the crystal puzzle, and thought that was rather inventive. No idea what the beef with that is about.
  10. Sure. If you want Ame to "fix" that. Minimal effort have you seen the chain to get Sludge Bomb and Giga Drain on Bulbasaur that's not minimal effort I want Poison Jab too, but you've gotta wait to get the good TMs. This isn't Platinum version where you get Earthquake before the third Gym. This is Reborn, where most of the best TMs you get are barely learned by anything.
  11. Wild Pokemon are below the levels of those the trainers have in every single Pokemon game. You are inevitably going to be grinding to get things caught up, and that's just assuming you're like me and like having your team evenly-leveled to a slim margin. Most people are not. The point of the game is not to have something you can use effortlessly handed to you on a silver platter- you're supposed to put forward the work to train up a new team member. Otherwise, well, things would be hell of a lot more boring, if you ask me. That point is especially pushed home in Reborn, where the game has been tailored to more experienced players and is thus designed to challenge them. As you've said you prefer speed-running however and generally just stick to one Pokemon? I think it's fairly obvious that you're not used to using a full team, namely the grinding that naturally comes with that, and that is the main problem here. ...My apologies if I sound snippy, I was not trying to come across as rude.
  12. His intro wasn't that long, y'all are a bunch of wusses. Welcome to the insanity that is Reborn. Our motto is that once you've come, you will never be able to leave. (...Not officially, mind you.) A fellow Dark-type trainer, hmm? Good. The type needs more love. So we can take over the world and cloak it in eternal night~ Since you've already disposed of your sanity, or so you say, the only other things I have left to tell you are to come onto the PO server if you'd like to chat with the crazy lot of people here, and to hang onto your hat(s), or I will most certainly... pull a magic trick of my own and make them disappear.
  13. Lessee: Chesnaught- Holy crap yours has the same nature mine does. Although I really want to change it when I get far enough on that file, so not for long. That aside, Cut has gotta go. If you want coverage, as has been said, Body Slam is good. You can also use Bulk Up if you like buffing moves, but I'd rather do away with Leech Seed for that than sacrifice the coverage. Granbull- Smeargle can net you some nice options with this. I have one with Play Rough, Bulk Up, Thunder Wave and Close Combat for a general idea of a few. Rock Smash should be done away with, though. If you want a Fighting move, either breed for Close Combat from Zangoose, or pick up Brick Break, since it's there. That's also been said. I'd also rather one of the fangs than Strength (Ice Fang? You're lacking an Ice move, after all.) but that's just me. Swanna- ...is not a Pokemon I'd use, so I can't offer much advice for you. Brave Bird is a bit weird on it, but, it does have Roost. I'd rather run an entirely special set, since all of its Water moves are special, but then we have Hurricane that's broken at the moment, leaving you with Air Slash as your best Flying move, so... Oh, and if you'd like, you can chain Scald onto it with Simipour -> Psyduck. Probably your best available Water move and it has that nice burn chance. Emolga- Encore is a bit weird, but, I guess it could mess with someone. Since you're using Nuzzle, switch Volt Switch for Electro Ball. They're a deadly combo that's not to be trifled with. Heatmor- I've never used one of these... um. Looking at its stats I see a slow mixed-attacker. Breeding for Sucker Punch can help with its Speed problems, Hone Claws is a nice buffing option, and... hmm, this one is tricky... There are better Fire-types out there, though. Houndoom is a very nice choice for a replacement, but you can also pick up Typhlosion or Chandelure. Although the former of those is kinda limited in coverage options. Why am I the only one who has ever had trouble with Radomus since his team change Arbok- As someone who still uses Skuntank of all things (I spent five hours searching for it leave me alone) it's not my place to say this, but... I'd trade it for something else. If it's another Poison-type you want (and you decide against Houndoom), Drapion is pretty cool- much faster and very sturdy on the physical side to make up for the loss of Intimidate. There's also Scolipede who has Speed Boost and Baton Pass and I don't think I need to tell you how broken that combo is. If you want to keep it, I'd breed for Poison Jab over Acid Spray and pick up one of the fangs instead of Sludge Wave. Those combo better with Screech. Glare is good, though. Paralysis is always nice. Your team is pretty unique, though. And you get points from me because Chesnaught is my favourite Kalos starter and doesn't get much love.
  14. Tossed a Quick Claw on Jynx and had her use Perish Song. (Move relearner moves OP) The Garchomp fainted two team members and had terrible move accuracy syndrome on my Grumpig. Was dead without putting a scratch on him. There are longer ways around, but there are definitely options for shorter ones. Personally I think the longer ones are more fun, since you've got to plan accordingly for every little thing, but that's just me.
  15. Lost Lore

    Gengar

Could also do Spooky Plate/Zap Plate/Toxic Plate for held items since Gengar doesn't really have much by way of longevity anyway, so I dunno how useful Black Sludge will be. Or Focus Band, if you don't mind the fact that it's unreliable. I'd say Focus Sash but there are only like... two in-game atm.
  16. What are you planning on doing to my favourite route Ame You already let people set it on fire Why would you do this to me, you're breaking my heart #suffering #i'm kidding don't take me seriously
  17. PokeXros! What about Black and White Kyurem though? I don't think Reborn is going to be including any fakemon, so...? Doesn't strike me as the sort of game for it, being honest. (The PULSE Pokemon non-withstanding, since they're story-relevant.) That kinda makes those second two ideas impossible, unfortunately. Good to know the stickers aren't being removed, though. The badge thing would've worked nicely, but I liked the sticker concept, and I don't know what'd happen to the sticker quests if they were removed, but it'd require a lot of rewriting.
  18. I feel for the newer players who shell out money for it only to get something you can get later on anyway, that really isn't all that great. Especially considering how tight money is in the early game... :<
  19. Samson doesn't have a Gallade, actually... There's no need to fear Psycho Cut. Just those Rock moves to worry about. At least, I think he has Rock moves. I haven't seen what all he has, but I think that's a safe bet. Nicknaming things is actually pretty fun in my experience~ But, to each their own. Gender-oddities aside (and the fact that shadows apparently have genders for some reason yeah), their names all fit their typing very well. And, as Terra is possibly the most baffling person in Reborn (...which is saying a lot) I don't suppose it's too strange to name an all-male species after her. Wow that got off topic whoops
  20. Sleep was nerfed so nothing will ever sleep more than three turns. Which is why I don't really care for Sleep Powder/Spore now. That aside, for being underleveled, you did pretty well. You should be fine against Samson, as you resist all of his STABs (bar the odd flying one from Hawlucha), just watch out for the occasional Rock move against Crobat. Also Acrobatics always deals double damage on the high striker field thing so that's really gonna sting. Could make use of a Sky Plate to buff it a bit more on account of that. The name references make me very happy, by the way. Glad to know I'm not the only one who does that. Even though Terra is a weird nickname for an all male species but whatever, it's a Ground-type
  21. It's not quite an "uphill advantage" considering, while you have access to some things, you don't have access to everything. There are some move combinations that aren't at all possible even via chain breeding. Ergo, the advantage is not yours, as all Gym Leaders have access to anything and everything they'd please. Reborn is hard enough don't cause me more pain and suffering please and thank
  22. Vs. Taka in a Grass mono-type. I'm a masochist. There's no arguing with it anymore.

I pulled it off in my Mirror Challenge after a few tries, luck, and Leavanny.

  23. It has no image, but it does have a description. I doubt it does anything if you have a Pokemon hold it, though, since it was never intended to be obtainable in the first place. Never mind the fact that we lack the ability to even normally Mega evolve things at the moment.
  24. Also, the Pokemon you get has your OT, so there is no bonus experience. You don't need to specifically ask for an egg.
  25. I don't think friendship berries are the best method to get happiness... I mean, you have to have EVs on your Pokemon to use them at all. So you'd basically have to get into a battle and use a berry, if you don't have any EVs on Azurill. Repeatedly. I'd advise setting the clock forward and going to the two salons in Obsidia- it takes a while, but it's more reliable and likely easier. As for a moveset, most people opt for Aqua Tail/Waterfall, Play Rough and Superpower at the very least. Aqua Jet is a common fourth slot option, but if you don't want to breed for it, take your pick, is my best advice. Body Slam is imo better than Double-Edge because of the lack of recoil + paralysis chance. But that's just me.
