  • [Art update] Three familiar(?) faces join the official art fray!

    Familiar with an ? because you really haven't seen that much of them in the game, really... But you've definitely seen them before if you've played through V13!

     

    As Jan has been on a much needed break for a few weeks, I felt it'd be a good time to hijack the dev blog once again and show off some of the new official art for 13.5. So, lo and behold!

     

    Meet Kreiss, Cairo and Aevium's Champion, Celine!

    I've previewed Kreiss on twitter before and even put up his full body artwork on my own portfolio as a small teaser on the 9th, but he's gotten a complete redesign, which also includes something of an overhaul personality-wise. While appearing classy and sharp-looking, there's a little more to him than meets the eye... But as of what, you'll see at a later point (or for yourself in 13.5! idk what Jan's plans are in that regards). Next to Kreiss we also have Cairo (which I've also previewed before!), a character that was introduced in V13 on Route 4, as well as Celine, who stands at the head of the Aevium League as its champion... Or well, is supposed to. Shame that her current state of being is uh... A little bit Not Exactly In The Realm Of Consciousness!

     

    As per usual, the character artwork & icons can be found back in the official art thread! Again, no wallpapers yet because I'm waiting with those until after V13.5 is out.

     

    also pls send jan ur strength, he's in finals hell. godspeed you magnificent bastard

    wait cairo was guy i thought he was woman .but these characters looks menancing cool  its lie they really are really powerful trainer. wait is cairo one of the gatekeeper elite 4.

    Celine looks... well, interesting. Not sure how else to put it. I'm thinking of playing cards, for some reason - I think there's someone else that has her dressing style in another series themed after them, can't think of them, gah... With the whole "mirrored" thing on her clothes.

     

    And as for Kreiss, it seems that looking like a businessperson runs in the family.

     

    And Cairo looks fierce.

    Celine has now become one of my favorites. I blame Madame X as the part of the reason why Celine became this. If this hasn't occured, she would have been in good shape and never been encased in a crystal for a very long time.

    They look so awesome, I never expected this🤩💖

    My favourites are Kreiss (gives me Classy Ice Lord/Gentleman vibes) and Celine's (reminds me of of an modern tribe queen for sure^^) artwork and I was always wonder what were those thingies around her overworked sprite (I assumed it was like a ragged appearance with leaves and shards, but I was wrong😅), but thanks for the clear twist. Looks prettier than I imagine^^

     

    Also my Good Luck for Jan with the finals🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀

    Cairo has that Sashila look to him, which might have something to do with all the crests he sells you- many of them are excavated from that area, after all.

    The things you can't see from a sprite...

    Not a whole lot of thoughts on Kreiss. He didn't leave that much of an impression, but I assumed he'd make a proper debut in the Neverwinter arc, whenever that is.
    I enjoy how the game now flashes up character art when you meet a character for the first time. You see things about characters that you'd miss otherwise. I guarantee you that this is the first most of us are learning about Celine's prosthetics, and that no one would ever know about them based on her sprites alone.

    It is mentioned directly by Alexandra at the start of V13 that she and Damien were able to make prosthetics out of black shards for Celine after she was grievously wounded by Madame X, which are the same prosthetics you see in her artwork! It's a detail that some might've overlooked when skimming through text, though.

    AWESOME! Kriess looks dashing and he even has ponytail like his mama (i sure hope he doesn't take after his mother). Celine looks in line with the Sashila village theme, while also keeping that champion look like Cynthia and Diantha. Can't wait for Kreiss's proper debut in the Neverwinter arc and whenever Celine is going to make a proper debut also i just noticed that Celine's prosthetics aren't shiny (because of the black shards), looks like they are more plasticy which is interesting to say the least, implies that the crystal shards have more to hide then there properties.
