[IC] Trespassers:DC Hunt: "Hexen: Welcome to Hell"

Jun rather swiftly took her plasma sword out of the wyvern's skull...before she proceeded to gut the damned beast in an attempt to strip its carcass from absolutely anything that seemed interesting or useful enough to tear out of it, and she quietly hoped that she would find the source of its odd breath weapon. But of course no matter what she might have found deeper inside of it, she made damn sure to cut off one of its teeth and scrape off some of its scales.

Kusuke approached Satomi as she looted the creature. "I really need to get in the habit of asking first, so: would you like me to fix you up? Getting blasted with acid and set on fire didn't exactly look like a fun experience." If she consented, he would rewind her body to several moments ago, where she was unharmed. "You too, Mirri. I know some people find time travel a little. . . uncomfortable, but it'll fix you up better than any doctor could." He briefly considered clarifying that this wasn't meant as a slight toward Harry - but the flash of irritation with the man turned him away from such.

Satomi gets one:
Slaughtaur Shield(Equipment): A large, shiny, oval shield with spikes along its outer edge and a large skull in the center.

May be activated to reduce incoming damage by 50% until the user's next turn.  An extra effect is unlocked if the user has at least 5 Int and trains with this item.

(82)Jun finds:

2 Gallons of DeathWyvern blood: "Thick, slimy, dark-red, and probably poisonous."

3 DeathWyvern bones: "Hollow, extremely light and strong for its size"

~200lbs DeathWyvern meat: "A yellowish green color, Parias says it's poisonous even after cooking."

1 Assorted DeathWyvern organs: "Similar in color to the meat, why would you want this?"
(You are under no obligation to take any of this)

"Could one of you young men help me? There's no reason not to take as many of these tombstones as we can carry, considering the only thing they are doing here is pulling corpses out of the dirt."  Soma says, her own strength meaning she is likely not up to the task.

She gives it the old collage try anyway, attempting to pry up a tombstone with her sword, this only demonstrates that no, she is not strong enough to carry off hundreds of pounds of granite.

Soma finds:

3 Mostly dead Hellbark clippings,

2 Poisonous Mushrooms,

Satomi nodded silently (but still with that tight grimace) as Kusuke offered to rewind her back into time. Once he did, of course, the relief was incredible. Not only did the magical pain in her very soul disappear, but the wounds from the acid ceased to be, the blood that had been running down her kimono disappearing, as well as the damage to her kimono and of course the painful wound itself. Immediately, Satomi stood up much straighter and took a deep breath, eyes closed. Then she looked at Kusuke and gave him a small bow of gratitude. "Thank you, Kusuke-san."

Then she dithered a bit on what to do with the shield she had looted, before ultimately choosing to simply sling it under her arm for now. It was hardly as if she had to carry it long, after all, and she did have the necessary muscle for that.

Those that saw Arminius after the battle would get a sense of Deja vu as his runes flair up. He himself was giving Jun a disapproving look as she went about her digusting task. After a moment he started gathering blood and bone, figuring he could find someone to make a rather nasty knife and poison combination with it.

Jun quietly mimed wiping the sweat off of her brow after she had finally managed to butcher the deathwyvern's corpse, and she proceeded to take pretty much all of the damned thing's blood and bones along with her as she walked up to the rest of the party. (Jun takes all three of the Deathwyvern bones and both of the Deathwyvern's blood) And she gingerly dropped the bones in not at all organized pile in front of everyone else when she had finally met up with them.

"Thank you. We don't need these, but it is very much appreciated." Harry gratefully took one crystal vial, one quartz flask, and one Kratar of Might. (If you want it, just ask IC and I'll hand it over). He then made his way onto the battlefield, searching for anything that looked interesting. He grabbed one reiver gravestone fragment, one mystic urn fragment, one death wyvern scale, and one of the Slaughtar shields.

Lucille saw the battle end through the Lizard's eyes... the ungodly, abominable lizard that existed for no reason other than to sew misery and suffering wherever it was deployed. She walked up to the living weapon, now standing idle with nothing to kill... well, nothing Lucille would allow it to anyway. She took one last look into it's mind, felt around as she had before, and found precisely what she had the last time. She didn't know whether she could root out the other master's prescence, and more than anything, she honestly wasn't sure she should bother trying anyway. This thing, for that was what it was- a thing, not even an animal or a beast, but a weapon that so happened to breath hot chaos and shit hot misery -had far more issues than merely someone else dwelling in its psyche, issues hardcoded into it.

Just as before, part of her wanted to try and keep it, try to fix it. But after what they'd just witnessed, that part of her had grown even smaller.

"An abomination like you has no place in the natural order of things..." Her gaze narrowed, as even now she still saw through the beasts eyes, seeing the disgust on her own force grow as her mouth began to move...

And then, like that, Lucille saw nothing...

For a blade of pure sound cleaved through the lizard's neck, sending it's head flying from those hideous shoulders and landing somewhere nearby. And no sooner than it had, did that blade's twin slash into the body of the demon with viscous force, sending it flying a good few meters away from Lucille, it's carcass bisected at the waist. And in the same instant the beast died, the pieces of Lucille's own mind she'd used to command it returned to her. She simply turned, and walked towards the others. "and I don't intend to give you one in it either..."

Lucille Executes the Brown Chaos Serpent, Removing it from her beast roster and regaining the bonds she used on it!

She had... very little to say to any of them. She spoke a few words, and the sanctuary she established faded away into countless motes of light, and Do and Astra came sauntering over to her side, each one receiving their own pat on the head from the girl as they walked. As she approached them, she saw the growing pile of scavenged materials, with their sources being fairly obvious. Scrying over a few of them, she knelt down, and picked up a few of the ones she felt would be the most... useful, in the future.

Lucille picks up the following loot:

Spoiler

2 Mystic Urn Fragments

2 Reiver Gravestone Marker fragments

1 Deathwyvern Bone: "Hollow, extremely light and strong for its size"

1 Deathwyvern Tooth

1 Deathwyvern Scale

Serpent Staff: It resembles a short, snakeskin-bound staff with a large reptilian eye set into the headpiece. The eye blinks every so often.
-Drain: Fire three bolts of green energy that deal 1d2 necrotic damage each and restore that much HP to the user.

--Level 2: +1 bolt fired.

--Level 3: Now uses d4s instead of d2s.

-Blue Mana weapon: Each time this weapon is used it inflicts its user with an instance of “Mana drain:Blue”, each instance reduces the user’s Int by 2, if the user attempts to use this weapon while at 0 Int they are knocked unconscious and cannot act until their Int is equal to or above their starting total.

And with those materials collected and stowed into her Satchel, and the serpentine staff leaning against her shoulder, she took out the Healing kazoo and started playing a small melody for herself on it, as she walked away from the group again. Some of the more observant ones might've noticed several of the acid burns on her exposed arms and hands beginning to heal, along with a few unseeable injuries such as not quite debilitating, but still annoyingly painful cracked rib in her side...damn centaur things.

She stopped at one of the dead Chaos Lizards, and stooped next to it's corpse. Do and Astra examined the creature, serving as lucille's eyes as she went to work trying to find the organ from which the creatures generated their acid, and harvest it.

Had Lucille also take the Serpent Staff, since she has an immediate use for it as a craft regeant even if it does drain her primary stat

Calvera floats there, in her Solar Form for a moment, looking to the obliterated corpses on the ground. She remains silent, before turning to the group, speaking in the same echo-like tone, as if in a distant cave. "I have done my duty." With that, Calvera collapses to the ground, her body reverting back to flesh and bones, she seems to be unconscious.

Kusuke returned the bow. "Not a problem." He largely tried to avoid looking at the people who seemed intent on tearing apart the corpses of the things they'd just fought; he was starting to think that everyone here was more than slightly crazy. He instead turned his attention to Parias. "Glad we could help, but I do want to ask: what is this place?"

Calvera slowly flutters awake, seemingly unscathed. She seems a bit confused. "Huh...? Arminius, where are we...?" She squints her eyes, and looks around, standing slowly. "Oh, right... I remember." Her eyes train itself on some green flame hovering above a gravestone, as she reaches out her hand focusing. A piece of the green flame flies to her, and settles in her hand. She closes her hand, absorbing it's energy, and proceeds to open her eyes. "That's... interesting." She turns to Arminius, looking him up and down. "You okay? Get hurt at all?"

(11vs6) (66)
Harry pokes around inside the Ettins ate first, he finds out that they don't have a logical physiology, nor do any two share the exact same physology.  They seem to be made of many different human parts fused together haphazardly with some sort of magic.

He moved on to where Lucille is trying to work on a Chaos Serpents, together they mangage to carfully dismember and examine the monster.  They find that a majority of its organs are in it's oversized head, it has a large digestive tract that takes up most of the space within its body, they also find that it has two special stomach-like organs that produce and store acid along side its main stomach.

(3) They find three Chaos Serpents intact enough to harvest organs from.
(4) They manage to harvest four fully intact horns from various Chaos Serpents.

The autopsy was rather slow going at first, with Lucille mostly taking a closer look at the bio-weapons exterior traits, given she'd not had the chance before. It was... rather surprising, really, she'd not run into a lot of things back home that were bipedal- and of those few that did, all of them had been predators, and well... said predators tended to be the most fearsome of them all, for a variety of reasons.

Once harry had come over to poke at the corpse himself though, she stopped merely thinking and started actually doing. Neither the scent nor the sensation as they worked to gut and examine the thing troubled her terribly much- she had done this numerous times before, afterall, and in all honesty, whatever pungent odors the lizard's innards might've given off just mixed in with the already noxious scents of the environment. And Noxious it most definitely was, for both Astra and Do were actively put off by it, like they instinctively knew they should consume no part of it. And it helped to confirmed all the things Lucille had thought about the demons up until this point.

By the time they were down, several corpses lay splayed open nearby, and Lucille had gathered up the organs responsible for generating their acid, wrapping them up and storing them away for later... and she'd also taken interest in their horns, scrying over a few, before storing them as well.

Lucille acquires the following:

Spoiler

3 Chaos Serpent Horns: The horns harvested from several Chaos Serpents. They are long and marred with nicks and chips seemingly from combat, and have a very small hollow through the center that would let them inject anything they impailed with acid, much like a snake uses fangs.  This also suggests that as with almost every other part of the Serpent the horns are acid resistant.

6 Chaos Serpent Acid Sacs: Special organs harvested from several Chaos Serpents; they are responsible for both creating and storing the horrible acidic substances the serpents spit out as the main form of offense. Best to find a way to preserve them soon.

Nodding to harry and muttering something about things to "Look into" Lucille eventually got up from the medical carnage the two of them had inflicted, and walked back over to where the others were. She had Do and Astra look around, and soon enough she focused in on the the stranger they'd spoken to prior to battle

"You mentioned something about a 'Korax' earlier, didn't you?" She asked the Priest "Something about how he was controlling them, or whatever? How many of the serpents and the other stuff do you think he has, and just how powerful is he? Because from what I felt, it seems like he was... hive-minding all of the lizards, with himself as the nexus, and even after I wrested one from his control, I still couldn't completely force him out."

She followed up that round of questioning with another, this time holding up the Serpentine Staff they'd given the group "And about these weapons you gave us- I tried scrying them but couldn't get a very clear picture; the toll they take on certain traits when used- are they... permanent on the user? Or will those drawback effects eventually fade, if given time?"

Parias turned to Lucille as she spoke, he hesitated for a split second upon noticing her eyes, whatever he thought he kept it to himself though and answered her questions.

"Korax, called 'Serpent Rider', came to this world from another.  Through their own greed he corrupted the leaders of our world and then sent his armies in, corrupting all he could and burning or killing the rest.  Few survived that apocalypse, the armies of our world were fused into the Ettin beasts you see there," He pointed at one of the Ettins "the Chaos Serpents are creations of his own, he even possesses ways to revive the dead in twisted parody.  How many followers he has I don't know, but I can tell you that I've killed hundreds and hundreds personally."

He stopped for a second the think, trying to come up with the right words.

"I suppose the first time anyone uses a mana weapon it is a bit...off putting.  You see, the mana in our world comes from your inner strength(such as intellect for blue mana or energy for green mana), as you use mana it wears down this inner strength to fuel the power of the weapon, the stronger you are the more mana you can use before collapsing.  The effect is very temporary and usually all of your mana will return after a short rest, not that rest is something common in a place like this."

Harry worked with Lucille a bit on harvesting the dead enemies for anything that might be useful. He took a set of DNA samples from the chaos serpents, in addition to one of their horns. It seemed to be resistant to acid, so if it was made of some sort of psuedokeratin, it might be useful in. . . well, something involving acid resistance. Harry didn't know what, but it might be useful, and they could always get rid of it at some point if necessary. He also grabbed some of what seemed to be human organs from the Ettins, and wrapped them up. They seemed to be decaying a bit quicker than human tissue should, something worthy of investigation. He'd have to ask Frigus or Lucille to make something that would work as a fridge, or whether they had any preservation spells or whatnot.

Spoiler

Harry obtains the following:

1 Chaos Serpent Horn (crafting reagent): The horns harvested from several Chaos Serpents. They are long and marred with nicks and chips seemingly from combat, and have a very small hollow through the center that would let them inject anything they impaled with acid, much like a snake uses fangs. This also suggests that as with almost every other part of the Serpent the horns are acid resistant.

1 Chaos Serpent DNA sample (crafting reagent): A sample of the blood of a Chaos Serpent, maybe useful in searching out specific snips to make use of in future projects.

Assorted Decaying Human Organs (crafting reagent): A set of human organs harvested from an Ettin for later study. They appear to be decomposing more quickly than normal human tissue would.

"I'm ready for you to open the portal whenever you can. Some of the stuff I've got will need preservation pretty quick."

"So it really was nothing but a manifestation of hate..." Lucille muttered under her breath. It certainly explained a lot of things, if he'd had a direct hand in the creation of the weapons, of course he would have bound himself so deeply into their psyche that even with his control split among... at least several hundreds at a time, he could still instantly focus in and burrow even deeper to evade the attempts of someone tugging at the reigns of a single unit, like a guerrilla fighter digging in and picking off a regime's forces as opportunities present themselves, and not a minute before.

But for all it explained, it also fed upon the growing storm of utter disgust she'd felt welling in the back of her throat ever since she first probed the serpents and other beasts and felt their true natures. She still tasted bile in her throat, like she'd be sick at any moment- This Korax, this rapist of worlds, this corrosive, slave making fuck, whatever he was and wherever he'd come from, had deigned to use this world as his personal play thing. Twisted and warped it until it was nothing but a smoldering cesspool of death and suffering. Taken it's people, crushed them beneath his heel, made them into puppets in his vile design and merged them into nigh endless legions of flesh horror.

How many worlds had fallen to this Korax? How many countless millions had been victims to his slaughter? Probably too many to count, if he already had a reputation by the time he got here. Part of her wanted to simply leave, to simply forsake this world, it was too far gone beyond salvation, and what problem was it of hers?

But nigh every other strand of her being lashed back with such violent force she shook- how was it not her problem? Had her own people not known this very type of destruction, once upon a time, had her own people not been so thoroughly raped, beaten, and broken to the point where they would never rise again? How was the carnage she could smell, hear, and practically taste even now any different than that which had occurred not even a full millennia ago, back home?

Had her own people not prevailed, only, and quite literally ONLY by the grace of the gods themselves, ONLY because a few outsiders had taken witness of their plight, and in their darkest hour decide to render aid? Her entire race and culture owed everything it was and had accomplished to an act of random kindness from beings far beyond their mortal understanding, without their intervention, they would have ceased to fucking exist at all, there would be no Argonarian men, there would be no humanity at all, the hairless apes who once threw shit and copiously copulated with each other like rabbits would've been just that, a shit stain in the books of natural history, its covers and pages burnt and torn by the fire and fangs of dragons and their ungodly, mythic ilk.

And yet...

What could she, or any of them, do here? They were outmatched even by the three fighters they'd been supposedly called to save, this fight had succeeded through sheer dumb luck and decent numbers alone; not on the merit of their skills, nor on that of their powers. Infact, were any of the enemies a bit more intelligent, or had Korax directly controlling them instead of the hands off, more passive method he seemed to prefer, given Lucille had been able to wrestle wills with him at all, they would all, she was quite certain, also be nothing but shit stains in the history books of this world right now.

By all accounts, had their opponent taken even a modicum of more care in trying to destroy these 3 stragglers, they should've all died right then and there. This situation sounded, in many ways, precisely like what the Doctor woman on the recording had described; massive entities slowly eating their way across existence, assimilating into and slowly decaying worlds from the inside out, if not outright crushing them under their heel... Korax had most certainly burrowed his way into this world by assimilating those at the head of the power structure, and he had most definitely torn it apart from the inside out.

The being she had wrestled wills with... had to have been a tresspasser, in at least some way, shape, or form. Too much about this fit into place for it to be otherwise... And that meant she had likely not even faced a 100th of his true power, when she'd stolen the serpent. If he had been in this world this long, and had wreaked this much havoc, there was no doubt she had been nothing but a minor annoyance to him, a fly to simply be ignored until it proved troublsome enough to actually warrant a swat. And if she was a mere annoyance, so too would all the rest of them. Yet she refused to simply walk away from this without doing... something

"I see..." She said, eyes hardening as she gazed at the man blankly. Twas truly amazing how much expression the little orbs could hold, despite being utterly useless for the purpose nature actually intended "Well, thank you for the insight then. But there's something else I'm even more interested in- how many fighters like you are there? Is there an actual, organized resistance effort, or is it just isolated stragglers like you three, trying to do whatever you can? An abomination like Korax is something that for the sake of all worlds, cannot, and shall not be allowed to live..."

Jun would quietly walk up to the three soldiers they had chosen to help earlier, and she looks around at the rest of the group to try and see what everyone else was doing. "We should probably get ready to leave this place soon before another horde of monsters bump into the lot of us".

Lilly and Ador split, looking on the creatures with Pity.
even the minds of these beast had no longer been there own. disgusting.

And those others had once been human. Lilly felt physically sick, fusing there bodies was one thing. But destroying there minds like that. the irrevocable destruction of self, even the gods could do nothing for them now. At least Lucille's bindings didn't seem to have lasting effects. This was beyond messed up.

She wanted to bid there souls peace and freedom, but what peace could any of these beings know now?

Not realy having an answer, she defaulted to what she always did. she didn't really want to touch the ettens since they had once been human, but that dragon like creature was fair game, and seemed to have a tough hide. It only fell so easily because they had focused there fire.

Spoiler
(18vs11) Lilly gets 2 pieces of "DeathWyvern hide"

After some work, she gets some of its scaly hide.

Moveing on from that, she notes the dead...or...barely living trees? and decides to take some samples to practice her magic with. if she can manage to restore something near death like that, then working with other plants should be easy. She finds three branches that should suffice.

Spoiler

She finds 3 pieces of "Hellbark branch"

finally she looked to the people they had helped and the many rewards offered.
"Are you sure you can spare so much? you seem to have your work cut out for you here."

Praias gave Lucille a blank look and gave a quite blunt answer to her question of how many humans there were left.

"To few, no there is no organized resistance, and far to many would rather die cowering in their homes than stand up and fight to the death."

He stopped and shook his head.

"There is nothing worth saving in this world anymore.  Even our gods have forsaken us and moved on.  All we can hope is to stop Korax before he moves on."

The warrior type looks at Lilly.

"It isn't a problem, these are all common weapons here."

Daedolon, the one in the red robe spoke to Parias in a forced whisper.

"They're right, we need to move before more monsters come."

"Just a moment longer won't hurt."

Satomi had pretty much finished with her looting after she had taken that shield, and she had gone to just stand in the middle of the area, keeping an eye out on the field -- she wasn't going to go touching dead things, after all, and most of the rest of what she could think to grab tended towards either the magical or the organic, rather than the material, and thusly she couldn't do all that much with it. Looking at the others, though, Satomi couldn't help but be a little bit nauseous. Blood and carnage wasn't anything new to her, considering that she'd been on the Wall before, but watching the others root around inside dead bodies like it was nothing when she herself hadn't been willing to even slightly touch them (reincarnation into a hinin would be... unfortunate) had her green around the gills. For the kamis' sake, some of them were practically elbow-deep inside the organs of these things, hacking away and pulling at them like it was nothing. "E-ech... I... can't believe you all don't have inhibitions about that..."
